The Score
Frankie gritted her teeth. I won’t be beaten by that sparkly bitch again! The fighter angel entered into the local gym hours before it opened. She headed straight for the punching bag.Punch! Punch! Punch!
The last time, she had help from the devil’s luck!, she thought, I won’t let her get away this time. I have to complete my mission! Frankie remembered what her teacher said on the day that she left for the living realm.
“Every tenshi-chi has one shin heart,” he explained on the board, “Your younger sister, the target, has one and a half shin hearts. You have two shin hearts. Two is much stronger than one and a half. Now, go forth!”
Punch! Punch!
Frankie let out a choked out scream. “If that’s true, smart ass,” she grumbled, “Then why did she beat me!” Her sixth punch broke a hole in the punching bag. Frankie stood back panting as she saw red. Training for three days straight became boring and pointless. She stamped her foot and cursed herself.
“Grrr, damn it!” she yelled. “I have to get stronger!” The fighter angel froze when she heard a shuffle behind her. Frankie grabbed onto her knife in her shorts’ pocket.
“Come out and show yourself!” she yelled. The corner of her eye caught someone running out the to the fire exit.
“You!” Frankie screamed, “Come back here!” She raced after the hooded figure to the glass fire exit. By the time she made it to the door, the target was lost. Frankie cursed herself as she stamped her foot.
“God damn it!” she hissed. However, she happened to look down and noticed something white at the door. Curious, she reached through the glass and picked it up. Frankie placed her hand over it and started to read. A perplexed look came over her face.
“The war to determine Sakura’s fate has unfolded,” she repeated to herself, “Full-on assault will begin at sundown.” Frankie smirked to herself at this message. Heh, well now, she thought, This should be rather entertaining. Yet, something was missing here. She hadn’t sensed her younger sister’s shin heart activating. In fact, the pulsing she heard in her mind hadn’t risen or sped up. Still, Frankie’s own curiosity just had to see. She placed the note into her pocket.
“And besides,” she said to herself, “It would be nice to see my dear sister again before she meets her demise.” Frankie put up her hand in the air and vanished into the early morning hours.
Meanwhile, another present found its way to the beach house in the same early morning hours.
See You in Space, Angel
