Chapter 34

Tobias awoke to ringing of the telephone. He groaned and tried to open his eyes. He immediately slammed them shut as bright sunlight poured into them. He rolled over, facing away from his bedroom window. He reached up blindly, scrambling for the phone as his hand connected with something warm and fleshy. His hand squeezed reflexively making the fleshy thing moan. He blearily opened his eyes, the fog of sleep slowly lifting from his mind. He saw a mass of purple hair.

 

Warm fleshy thing? That was a breast. (This was confirmed when he lightly caressed it, making the purple hair moan.)

 

The telephone's ringing continued. Tobias blinked hard and moved his free hand to rub at his eyes. His eyes focused better afterwards and he focused on the purple mass of hair.

 

Misato's hair? Check.

 

Said woman in his bed? Check.

 

Misato naked in his bed? Big check.

 

Him naked in his bed with a naked Misato? Bigger check.

 

The memories of the greatest night of his life and phenomenal sex rushing back to his sleep addled mind? Big fucking check!

 

Tobias grinned to himself and reluctantly let go of Misato's breast that he was fondling from behind her to reach over her to grab the phone. He didn't even bother to wait for the caller to respond.

 

“Whoever this is, it can wait until next week. If Shinji's there, tell him not to come home until next Friday.” With that, Tobias hung up the phone. Considering it was Friday morning, Shinji wasn't going to be home for awhile.

 

With a lecherous grin, Tobias gently rolled Misato over to wake her up properly.

Jim stared at the phone so long that the dial tone began to ring. He growled and placed it back to his ear before dialing furiously.

If Jim had been outside Tobias's house he would have been treated to the glorious sight of a phone shooting out the open bedroom window in a stream of fire.

“Still not answering?” Gene asked. Jim shook his head after calling for the fifth time.

 

“When Tobias did speak he implied for Shinji not to come back for a week.” Jim said, hanging the phone up. “So unless he's hiding in his room with the radio blaring I think he's not home right now.”

 

“Call Belle and J'dee.” Gene ordered, grabbing his coat and caster. Jim immediately picked the phone back up to dial again. “I'm going to the trail to see if he's on it.”

 

“I'll go with you.” Aisha said, getting up from her table.

Belle was floating through the air, her invisible wings catching the currents of air, moving her. She was elemental, flying as a vapor owl through the sky, there was a great elemental joining of fire, earth, water, and air and all were going. Elementals from around the world were flocking but she was late, distracted by the pain of mortals below. She had given rain to those dying of thirst. She had waited and she would be late. The Air, Earth, and Fire whom she had joined circle with would be annoyed.

As she flew she felt the power of another elemental, her keen eyes could not see it, but she could sense it as surely as it could sense her. It must be an Air to be so far above the Earth. She ducked in time to avoid the fast flying Air and it swirled around her exploring her as she attempted to investigate it. It was Male for the moment as she was Female and they ducked and flew together, he was in some sort of avian form as well. They ducked and danced through the sky and slowly she realized it was a form of courtship dance.

The gather was still far away, which meant that there weren't any elementals to break up such a mating. Belle twittered a song and the opposite verse rang out nearby. Slowly she began the plummet of the female and talons interlocked with her own. The courtship began and for a moment she worried it would be an avian mating, but instead the talons became elemental fingers and she smiled as she let her talons turn to vapor fingers. Their fall stopped and they seemed to float as the strong hands pulled her closer. Her breasts pushed into the hard chest of a male and as they brushed lips the phone rang.

Belle fumbled with her sheets for a moment before her hand escaped to grab the cordless phone.

“Hello?” she asked praying it was a recorded message so she could just hang up.

“Belle?” Jim asked and Belle groaned. “Did I wake you up?”

“No,” Belle lied automatically before shaking her head. “I mean yes. What do you want Jim.”

“Toby won't answer his phone,” he said and Belle thought about it. Toby could be dead, or captured, she better wake up.

“For his sake he better be dead or being tortured by Fire right now,” she grumbled as she sat up and rubbed her eyes.

“We're worried he is,” Jim said.

“As awful as that would be, we're not that lucky,” Belle sighed and then wrinkled her nose at the realization of the most likely truth. “He's probably…busy, Jim. With female company. You forget, he's kind of sweet on Misato.”

“Oh…ewww,” Jim whined.

“You shouldn't have tried to mentally picture it,” she scolded as she grabbed her jeans and pulled them on while pinching the phone between her shoulder and ear. “Don't worry about Toby, I'll get J'dee and we'll…remind him that he's on duty. After breakfast though. Why do you need him anyway?”

“Shinji didn't make it here and..well,” Jim ended nervously.

“If Shinji was over there he would have answered the phone,” Belle finished. “J'dee and I will take care of bearing the bad news too. You guys watch out for us.”

“Thanks Belle, see you soon,” he said.

“Bye Jim,” Belle sighed as she hung up and pulled on a tank top before heading into the kitchen. She grabbed a pot and a wooden spoon before coughing lightly and then banging them. “WAKE UP YOU LAZY MEN AND J'DEE! WE HAVE A SITUATION!”

Roy let out a breath he had already been up wandering round when Belle's “alarm” went off downstairs, he looked to Armstrong already opening the door and he nodded walking through it. Havoc and Hawke-eye close behind as they made their way down the one flight of stairs to the level where Belle's apartment was located.

 

The door seemed to open automatically and Roy nodded at Hakkai who held it open that smile hiding the truth on his face again. Roy looked round the room, noticing only two familiar bodies had yet to emerge from a room.

“Let me yo.”

“Reno not one more step!” Belle snapped.

The red head sighed. “Aww c'mon yo.”

“They are awake…” Goku remarked. “I can hear them…” His chin resting on his arm his hand playing with the now empty fruit bowl on the kitchen table.

“Does it sound good?” Reno grinned.

Roy raised a brow, the man had no tact with women and he just merely nodded to Belle before taking a seat. “We will wait and patiently, they can be reprimanded later for tardiness.” He stated.

“No they're just getting up.” Goku stated.

The bedroom door opened…

Zack groaned hearing the pan like gong going off in the kitchen and he sat up groaning rolling over to look at the clock.

“Hmmm?” He heard Reno's muffled complaint.

Zack shook J'dee lightly. “You hear that?”

“Yeah… Believe it or not I'm a light sleeper… normally unless someone keeps me up past my bedtime.” She glanced at Zack over the pillow and he chuckled.

“Guilty as charged.” He slipped from the bed grabbing a pair of jeans pulling them on, before running his hand through his hair walking to the door.

“You coming?”

 

J'dee waved Zack on. “Be out in a moment.” She reached over the bed grabbing her pale purple pj pants and a darker purple singlet top and pulling them on. She pulled her hair back into the normal pony tail before heading out into the lounge.

She looked round the room seeing the gathering for a moment. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know it was something when Roy deemed them worthy of his presence, he had been lacking a bit lately in showing his face and she wondered why for a moment. He had ditched the last training episode early for other “arrangements”

“I'm guessing this is bad news?” J'dee asked casually, making her way to the fridge and pulling out her carton of juice and taking a swig from it, before placing it back.

“Shinji's missing.” Belle stated. “And you know Toby as well as I do.”

J'dee groaned. “I'll have a quick shower… then we can leave.” She made her way to the bathroom straight away grabbing a towel from the cupboard.

“Anything?” Jim asked, as Gene and Aisha came back into the house. Gene shook his head while Aisha had a worried look on her face.

 

“What did Belle and J'dee say?” Gene asked. Jim grinned evilly.

 

“Belle promised they'd stop by and get his attention after breakfast.”

Belle drove to Toby's house and sighed as she got out of the car, Ed and Al following behind her as she quickly moved up the steps. Hisagi and Kira suddenly appeared to either side of them.

“Gah, I'm still not used to that,” Al sighed as he looked at Kira and the blond smiled apologetically.

“Children prepare to cover your eyes,” Belle sighed as she pressed the doorbell. There was the slight chime from inside but otherwise no sound indicated that anyone was home. “Well, when dealing with Toby, annoying is best.” She began to lay into the doorbell.

Water was standing in front of his prisoners, smirking at how everything was falling into place for him. Soon Earth would be unable to order him around like some third rate flunkie. As if thinking of the bitch summoned her, Earth seemed to appear from one of the deeper caves.

“There you are,” she stated, with the air of a queen. Water nearly snickered at the air and earth irony of that thought but he kept his face a cool, neutral stare.

“What did you need?” he asked and she smiled.

“I just wanted an update,” she said and Water nodded.

“Air and I have both secured all four of our…collateral,” he said as he indicated the eight filled cylinders. “Fire seems to have kidnapped a boy from hers. She may finally have realized that sacrificing her souls too early is a mistake.”

“Does her target know of the boy's capture?” Earth asked and Water shook his head.

“He has been….distracted by the female remaining at his homestead,” he said and Earth laughed. Had Water not despised the bitch he would have found that laugh alluring, but he had long ago learned not to think with his prick.

“Excellent, soon you three shall be the perfect followers,” Earth commented. “I will rule over everything and when the universes collide you will help me to secure power over all mortal beings.” Water's body stiffened at that comment. The foolish bitch seemed to think that because she had come to power first that the rest of them were just going to continue to serve her. A foolish mistake that Water would be only too happy to point out once he was back to his full power.

“Air believes he has a method of rendering his target powerless, leading to a weakening of my own,” Water commented, his tone as normal and emotionless as always. Earth smirked.

“Excellent, keep me up to date,” she ordered before floating off. Water's fists tightened. This would never do.

For almost an hour Air sat by his window of sight watching the group being woken up and heading out to the farm house of Fire's `yet to be acquired'.

He chuckled at most of their expressions when it was obvious to him already what was going on inside the boy's house.

Leaning back on the cushion of air he just sat there watching the group of them.

 

Air held up the pendant looking to the window to where his target stood next to Zack, pulling out a packet of Marlboro red cigarettes shaking the packet before flicking a cigarette out casually like she heard this sort of thing all the time. He heard her voice mutter, it was obvious she heard the events over their chattering voices.

“Silence is not her specialty.”

“Huh?” Zack looked at her.

“You don't hear what I do.” She stated.

Zack blinked. “You hearing the planet's voice again?”

She raised a brow. “Yeeeeeaah something like that… except trust me wrong element… not the planet…”

Air laughed pulling out his own cigarette lighting watching the group approach the farm house. “Free-to-air… The best entertainment.”

“Hey, I hear something.” Ed said, cocking his head and listening. Belle paused, and everyone became quiet. Then came a rather suspicious moan and the women shared a look of annoyance.

“I can't believe him,” Belle muttered as they slowly moved to the side of the house. An open window explained where the noise came from and a molten chunk of plastic in the yard.

“Is that a phone?” J'dee asked and Belle sighed.

“Explains why he's not answering the phone.” Grimmjow said, grinning. Then came another moan and Belle grabbed the two Elric brothers.

“Back to the car, now,” she ordered and both blushed as a groan of pleasure escaped the window.

“They really don't know how much noise they're making?” Al asked in shock and Belle shrugged.

“I guess not, go by the front of the house,” she ordered as J'dee shook her head while she lit a smoke.

“Was it really necessary for us to come here if he's just screwing around?” J'dee asked and Belle shook her head.

“If what Jim said is true, he needs to stop thinking with the little head. He's going to be pissed Shinji is missing.”

“Nice!” a voice called out and the two women looked to see Grimmjow, Renji, Ikkaku, and Reno were crowded around the bottom of the window, peaking over the edge.

“Oooooooooo, she's really flexible yo!” Reno called. Belle groaned as she held out a hand and focused on the water vapor and…she shuddered at the thought, bodily fluids near and around the hole in the wall.

“One pervert ice cream cone, on the way,” she growled and the group at the window and the two people in the room were covered in a thick frost.

“Holy shit!” Reno cried as he began rolling around on the ground to remove the frost. Grimmjow howled as he powered up, his energy throwing the frost off, but his skin was still unusually blue. Ikkaku was doing a similar dance to his Luck Luck dance while swearing. Renji was curled up on the ground attempting to use his energy like Grimmjow but obviously worried more about his male anatomy from where his hands were located. There were literal screams coming from the bedroom and Belle moved to stand out of sight of the room.

“Oh Toby, Misato, you shouldn't ignore guests, no matter how into your coital bliss you are,” she called moving away as heat flared in the room.

“That's playing dirty Belle!” Toby roared and Belle sighed.

“Toby…there's bad news, get dressed and we'll see you in the living room,” Belle sighed as she walked away, well aware the Kira, Hisagi, and Zack were keeping the frozen perverts back.

J'dee blew the smoke out standing at the door as Toby stalked out of the bedroom and into the lounge where they were all waiting.

“What the fuck was that all about huh?” Toby shouted.

“You didn't answer the phone.” J'dee started.

Toby glared. “Oh I don't see you answering the phone while your-”

“Don't even start with me remember I can shut you up for good, by sucking the very air from your lounges… then nobody will be moaning.” J'dee flopped against the wall taking another drag of her cigarette. “Why don't you shut up before I hit the mute button on you.”

She stopped for a moment as she caught out of the corner of her eyes Reno and Misato sharing fiery words probably regarding Reno's peeping, she couldn't blame the purple haired woman though. She caught Toby's heat rising and she did a quick shield of dropping the air round the others so they weren't getting to charred by the hot head nearby. While maintaining their intake of oxygen so the wouldn't pass out at the same time.

Belle sighed as Toby continued his tirade at J'dee as Reno and Misato wrestled. Toby was of course too upset over his ruined sex and from the look of the kitchen; they had been at it for far too long to give this temper tantrum any true purpose.

“Are you going to stop them?” Ed asked and Belle nodded.

“Guess someone needs to let him know about Shinji,” she sighed.

“Five.” Tobias snarled, clad in only his shorts, as his hands slowly began to ignite and flames spreading up his arms. “Four.”

 

“Calm down, all of you!” Belle hissed as the room's temperature dropped suddenly, especially around Toby. Everyone stopped from what they were doing, Misato especially where she had Reno in a choke hold. The Turk was starting to turn an interesting shade of blue.

 

“Toby the reason why we're here is because Shinji never made it to Gene's house last night.” Belle said. Misato immediately let Reno go who fell to the ground, gasping for air.

 

“What happened?” Tobias demanded, his flames flickering out.

 

“We don't know, but it's very likely Fire took him.” J'dee said, helping Reno stand. Tobias snarled.

 

“Oh that fucking does it!” he snapped and whirled around, stomping away from his house to the barn.

 

“What are you going to do?” Belle asked. Tobias didn't even bother turning around as he answered.

 

“I'm going to get Jehuty and bring that place crashing the fuck down!”

Belle gave J'dee a look and they rushed after their hotheaded friend. With a wave of her hand the ground under Toby's feet turned to ice and sent him falling.

“Toby, you can't do that like this,” she said as he quickly got to his feet and glared at her. Belle was hoping he would get into her face, but he had his short sighted plan and he was going to go for it. “Don't ignore me, you know I'm right!” This time a small whip of water grabbed his ankle and brought him down.

“Knock it off! I'm getting Shinji out of there and you two aren't going to stop me,” he snapped. Belle knew how he felt, she had lost Sanzo, a son, and Vincent had been taken right in front of her. Both times she had been unable to do anything, she knew what he was thinking but she knew it wasn't wise.

“Don't be stupid, listen to us,” J'dee pleaded, a similar look of pain in her eyes as in Belle's.

“You're only going to do what they want!” Belle sighted. “This isn't how you should behave.”

J'dee let out a breath following after Belle chasing Toby. Inside though she felt bad for thinking it but the pain Toby was feeling was similar to her feelings of loosing Gojyo and Cloud. The bitter part inside her was glad he got a taste of the extent of their pain. But Toby was Toby after all and reacted without thought regarding anyone else.

She felt a chill for a moment on the air and stopped for a second looking over her shoulder, the eeriness of a sense of watching.

“This is what she wants you know, for you to go rushing in… and if you do that… Doing this its irrational unprepared and just downright dangerous for Shinji and Washu… seriously… I love you dude really I do but if you do this then you're as good as dead. I saw inside those caves I was held in those caves. I'm not going back unprepared.”

“I'm not asking you to go!” Toby snapped still on his direct course towards Jehuty.

“Well fuck you very much too.” J'dee stopped for a moment taking a drag of the cigarette.

She took a slow calming drag of the cigarette closing her eyes, she was feeling tired, she heard the faint voice on the wind just whispering their encouragement to deal with their hot headed best friend on a level he understood.

“If it was one of you I'd still go.” Toby stated.

J'dee sighed. “Understandable. But we've done the reconnaissance into the place. Well the Shinigami have, Zack and I have see inside, please just let us all put our heads together and plan this out, if it was you or Belle in there I'd want this confrontation prepared every angle covered. Because these guys have centuries with these powers, we have a few months at the most.” She let out a breath flicking her cigarette to the side talking to Toby's back as he was still on his bee-line. “Also I think Fire would know how to deal with a big giant stomping robot thing and doing this you could risk Jehuty too. She would attack you where it hurts, those caves are half the height of Jehuty, it wouldn't fit, there's only three caverns the size of it. Only three in winding caves that go on miles. Think about this really and seriously.”

“If it was you… I'd still go.” Toby repeated. “Especially if it was one of you two.”

“You are being unreasonable!” Belle cried as she glared at Toby, he was getting verbally abusive. She knew why but she didn't to like it or take it.

“I'm not going to sit by and do nothing like you two have,” Toby sneered and Ed grabbed his arm.

“Listen to them!” he shouted and Toby's arm went up in flames, but Ed didn't let go, he was using his automail hand.

“Toby, listen to J'dee, the place is a series of caves! I know the rock composition of this region, if you go stomping into those caves with a giant robot you're going to risk massive cave ins!” Belle snapped. Toby just wasn't getting it, he was so obsessed over Shinji he was forgetting about Sanzo, Gojyo, Cloud, Vincent, and Washu. “There are other people in there that are in danger! You can't do this!”

“Come on, yo, listen to her,” Reno said as he grabbed Toby's arm. Belle could see that Reno's other hand was going for his EMR, then again, Reno wasn't fireproof like parts of Ed were.

“Let him go,” Misato's voice said, there was a slight stress to her voice. Belle felt something press into the back of her head. Closing her eyes Belle could see Misato behind her with a gun to her head. Cool rage filled Belle and J'dee looked ticked.

“We're getting Shinji,” Misato snarled, sounding more confident, even with the tremor of the gun to the back of Belle's head. Belle quickly focused on the inside of the gun. She froze the hammer back, so even when the trigger was pulled she would be fine. Just to be careful she began to fill other parts of the gun with ice. Belle still wasn't going to temp Misato to shoot, with so much ice jammed in there an accident could cause the gun to blow up, next to Belle's head and in Misato's hand. They weren't here to hurt the two perverts, but to save them from doing something stupid.

“He's like son, god damn it! I'm not leaving him in the hands of that crazy bitch any longer than I have to!” Tobias spat. “You may be cowards but I'm going to get them back!”

 

“You're going kill him if you do it your way!” Belle hissed.

 

“Enough!” J'dee cried moving next to Belle and Tobias. They both looked at her. “This getting us nowhere. All we're doing is arguing in circles. Misato is actually holding a gun on Belle, do you want to trade Belle for Shinji Toby?”

 

Toby blinked and noticed that Belle was still tense.

“Let him go,” Belle said and Reno and Ed let go of Tobias's arms. Misato slowly lowered her pistol from the back of Belle's head.

 

“I understand how you feel, Toby.” J'dee said. Tobias huffed. “But Belle is right, if you go tearing in there you could kill the people you're trying to save.”

 

“I've only been saying that since this started,” Belle muttered. J'dee turned to nod at her friend. “It's not that we don't know what you're going through Toby. We've each lost two people who are precious to us too. We're just not going to win by running in there half-cocked. We know it and accept it, we don't like it either, but we need to be strong to save them.”

 

“Look I'm sorry I yelled at you, Belle.” Tobias said. “But I refuse to let this go on any longer. You want to have a plan? Fine, I'll give you one week. If you don't come up with something in one week, I'm going there with Jehuty and I'll rip that damn roof off to get them back.”

 

“No, we're going to talk about this,” Belle said tightly. “And it's not only going to be me and J'dee making a plan. You can contribute too. Let's work this out.” Tobias nodded and stormed back to the house.

Belle watched Toby moved away from the group and she slowly stepped away from everyone as she gave Misato a look.

“Drop the gun,” she ordered and Misato sneered.

“You don't order me around,” she snapped and gasped when a tentacle of water ripped the gun from her hand and held it in front of Belle. Ice ruptured through the gun, crushing it and rendering it to little pieces of metal.

“Don't you ever turn on me again, you've made your stand with Toby, I understand that and I accept it. But you will not threaten me in front of my sons. Shinji is like a son to you and him, but Alphonse is literally a child born of my body. I won't let you risk him again,” Belle hissed as the temperature plummeted. “You stepped out of line and you've stepped out of the people I trust at my back. Watch over Toby and remember who helped you save him from Fire's black magic spell.” Belle marched into the house without giving Misato a second look. Belle knew that Misato would feel guilty about what she had done, after all, Belle and J'dee had been the ones to save Tobias and given Misato's sad tale a listening ear.

J'dee lit another cigarette following the group to the house with a sigh; she looked at Zack who smiled at her.

“At least he's kind of calmed down.” Zack offered kindly.

“At least is not good enough.” J'dee mumbled.

Zack squeezed her hand. “What would you want if it was you?”

“For Belle and Toby to stay as far away as possible, I don't want them hurt.” J'dee replied softly. “But I know it won't happen, but if they HAD to come for me I'd want them prepared. As in every part of the cave memorized; every part of the elements movements and thinking mind set known. I would want there skills at a 0.5% error ratio before they even tried to come for me.”

Zack let out a low whistle. “Okay… meaning?”

“We're not well trained enough I know this… but there's not exactly a school for this sort of thing.”

Zack held the door to the lounge open. “Hey could you go into the cave in your Astral body and do some spying for us?” He asked. “You'll be unseen… find out where Shinji is located then come right back out again? Mark it on the map and then…”

J'dee shook her head. “You would send me in there when Air has the same abilities as me and able to sense me, you'd be better sending Kira or Yumichika.”

“Point taken.” Zack lent against the wall as the others slowly began to come into the room.

“I'd still take Jehuty and storm their base.” Toby looked over his shoulder from where he stood looking at them.

J'dee sighed sadly, she had held a similar mindset when she found out Cloud and Zack were both there. Her eyes closed remembering Cloud wanting her stay as far away as possible she then remembered her words to Zack moments ago. `God I'm even staring to think like Cloud… the sooner this is over with…' She thought to herself.

“Your plan is shit, Toby, a selfish shitty plan,” Belle sighed as she looked in the direction of the lake from the window.

“The hell it is! I'm going to use Jehuty, to get rid of their hiding spot and to drag Shinji out!” Toby snapped and Belle looked at him with very cold and heartless eyes. From across the room Hisagi felt the urge to comfort her, but he didn't dare move to do so.

“I know the rock composition of that region. What do you think I did in the time I was pregnant with Alphonse? Sit on my ass? Play video games? Eat?” Belle said, her tone cool with rage. “As soon as Hakkai brought the coordinates I started looking into that area to find out what I could. There are literally miles of caves underground in that area.” Belle took a deep breath and visible calmed before looking at Toby with sad eyes.

“Don't be an asshole, J'dee and I know exactly what you're going through and you're being horribly cruel to us by calling us cowards. How much do you know about those caves? J'dee knows that they are like a maze and I know that they are made out of sedimentary rock…and a good chunk of the entrance is made out of weak conglomerate. Basically rocks that formed when something stuck them together,” Belle said as she looked at Toby, not breaking eye contact at all. “If you take Jehuty into that entrance, it will cause a massive cave in within seconds. A cave in that may cause hundreds of thousands of pounds of rock to rush anyone trapped in there. You may just end up killing Shinji by bringing the roof above him down. You can't use your robot.”

“How do I know you're not lying to keep me from showing you up,” Toby said, the emotions clear on his face. Belle slapped him as hard as she could.

“Listen to yourself and remember who we are,” she said, a tear of pain rolling down her cheek. “I lost Sanzo and I'm always carrying his things with me.” She pulled out the gun and sutra from her purse. “Don't you dare think this is a pissing contest between us because I remember raising Sanzo from a screaming infant and dying to protect him.”

“Belle…” Toby began and she shook her head as more tears came.

“I had to watch Water take Vincent, I chased after him like a child and fell behind as he stole a man I loved once right in front of me. Don't you dare accuse me of holding you back because I didn't want to look bad! If I thought for a second that you and that big toy of yours could get them back I would be throwing you into that thing in a second,” Belle hissed as she looked at him, tears rolling down her cheeks. “I wouldn't risk Shinji's life to save Sanzo and Vincent, don't you risk their lives just for Shinji.” Belle turned away and moved to the other side of the room.

“We're a team,” J'dee said. “We really need to learn to start acting like it.” Belle nodded as she headed out. Clutching at Al's hand as it appeared in her own hand squeezing Hisagi's hand as it appeared in her other.

“We'll talk more later,” Belle stated. “I don't feel like talking much now.”

“How do you like your new accommodations, Shinji?” Fire asked, waving a hand around them. Shinji tried to keep his cool like Misato and Gene taught him.

 

“I could use a little more room.” Shinji said and struggled to move in the chair he was strapped into. Fire shook her head sadly.

 

“Sorry, not going to happen.” Fire said. She sighed, and relaxed in her own chair. “Now, let's just wait for daddy to come, hmmmm?”

“Any luck?” Water asked as he appeared next to Air and the blond shook his head.

“No, she's not gone astral for a while, they were fighting with Fire's man for a while, but it was nothing. Yours almost took a bullet to the head,” Air reported and Water shook his head. No, no simple bullet would destroy his girl.

“The bitch is making plans for us,” Water hissed and Air blinked before looking at Water.

“What kind of plans?” he asked and Water sneered.

“We're to help her become ruler of the world after we ascend,” he stated and Air's jaw went slack as the wind began to rush around then. Water narrowed his eyes in his own rage, refusing to show just how much in agreement he was with Air.

“That whore!” Air cried and Water nodded.

“We need to get them and get our powers secured, we cannot risk letting Earth think she's going to be the one to rule us all,” Water hissed and Air nodded.

“I hear that,” Air snarled before grinning at Water. Water couldn't help a smirk.

“You have thought of something I take it,” Water said and Air grinned.

“Her sleeping plain is as good as astral.” Air turned to Water. “I'm going to enter it physically and take her Astral form… it will take them a while to realize when she doesn't wake up. Of course the best part she's completely unguarded…” He held the pendant up; it glinted for a moment with the reflection of light the water in the caves provided.

“I'm going to have to deal with that spirit chain linking the bodies so she can't be pulled out of my grasp or have any spiritual communication with them in her unconscious state. After that is broken. Her body will go into a coma and they will only have days to make their move to reunite the body and soul, meaning they'll be coming here… for a nice little visit… that they won't leave from.”

Air turned to the sight where he was watching the group returning to the apartment. “All I have to do is wait till she is one level of sleep away from the astral plain then go in there…” He placed the pendant in his pocket. “I'll be waiting near their apartment. I'm going to spend tonight weakening her chain, and her astral barriers. Be back in a couple of days…”

With that Air vanished in a gust of wind.

Tobias stood on the porch, staring at the fading sunset. Misato came up from behind him, wrapping her arms around him.

 

“Hey.” She whispered. He uncrossed his arms and rested his hands on her hands.

 

“Hey.” He replied. They stood there, staring at the setting sun for awhile.

 

“You were kinda hard on, Belle.” Misato said. Tobias sighed and tightened his grip on her.

 

“I know. When I go out to pick up a new phone tomorrow, I'll stop by to apologize.” Tobias said. They were silent for a moment longer before Misato spoke again.

 

“It's all my fault.”

 

“What? No it's not!”

 

“It is!” she insisted. “I sent him to Gene's so we could be alone, and then I didn't ask you about the phone call this morning!”

 

“It's not your fault Misato, its no one's fault. This bitch was going to take him one way or the other. But I'm going to get him back!”

 

“Promise?”

 

“I swear it on my soul, I'm going to get him back.”

Zack looked over the various maps pinned to the wall that Roy was motioning to, several maps all linked together marking the vastness of the underground caves, several pins sticking out with strings attached to notes marked in handwriting of the events and locations that they had from their times there.

“So you called me up here to show me this?” Zack asked before letting out a low whistle. “Impressive, you've done your homework.”

“There are still locations in the caves unmarked of course; I was wanting your assistance to fill in the blanks from when you were under Air's control.” Roy stated.

Zack moved up to the notes flicking his hand out he motioned for a pen. Havoc handed him one cigarette dangling from the blonde's lips, before he added to some of the notes and picked up several pins marking other locations on the map.

 

Roy stood back watching the other man work, granted he had his moments of not being completely all there, and his dreams seemed to overshadow most of his training, he was still military at heart and military strikes were what he was used to.

“This kinda reminds me of how thorough Angeal and Sephiroth were when they went into battle.” Zack commented as he wrote on a note and pinned it to the wall attaching the string, before writing several more notes out and attaching them to the pins.

Roy merely nodded, he heard Havoc's lighter click, as the blonde headed to the balcony. He glanced out seeing the wind outside picking up for a moment and his eyes narrowed.

J'dee sat on her bed and flipped open her cellphone looking at the numbers on her phone, the list of her friends names back home, she stopped looking at a familiar number she hadn't used in years.

“I should stop waiting for you to call… I should stop expecting you to call, but they said you would…It must take more time to gather the energy to call than I thought.” She mumbled to herself sadly.

A knock at the door, made her snap the phone shut as it opened and she stopped seeing Hakkai enter with a hot drink.

“Zack will be late back seem he's gone to help Roy with the Intel of the caves. Seems all this time Roy was doing his own research.” Hakkai set the drink down. “You should get some sleep. I'm sure Zack will be there.

J'dee felt the wind slam against the sliding door leading out to the balcony and she glanced at it before she felt the air in the room suddenly lighten.

Hakkai looked at her. “Don't worry the normal patrols are up. He can't touch you.” He smiled. “He would be silly to try with so much of us on alert and so soon after Shinji.”

J'dee offered a smile back; still she felt it wasn't Air but the energy of the winds screaming at her in forewarning.

The door shut after Hakkai and J'dee lay down on her bed pulling the Cloud plushie close with a hard swallow.

“Energies seem off tonight…” She mumbled before closing her eyes.

Hisagi watched as Belle held up her ice sword, he nodded as he began to show her the basic kendo stance. She moved slowly like someone who hadn't done it in a long time and if it was true and one of her souls was a shinigami, than she hadn't. She seemed awkward and he moved towards her.

“Let me,” he said as he slowly moved behind her, he sheathed his sword and moved his hands to cover her own. He was shocked when she relaxed and moved as he moved her. They moved through the stances, slowly. For some funny reason Hisagi imagined that she was a lovely dance partner, letting her partner lead.

“Thank you,” she said as she began to handle the movements better and Hisagi slowly pulled back. His fingers ran along her arm and he blinked at the shiver that ran down Belle's back and the goosebumps that appeared on her skin. Hisagi felt a little male pride at that reaction, but he had a job to do.

“Now, let's continue,” he said, coughing lightly.

“Yes,” Belle said, she was glad it was dark so he couldn't see her blush.
