Chapter Eleven:

Decision Made

“I'll do it.”
Vickie looks over at Sheila in surprise from her futon. Everyone is still asleep as the sun lazily peeks over the horizon in beautiful hues of pink, shy blue and purple outlined by the sweetest of silvers. But not even the sun leaking softly into the little house could compare to the excited hope lighting up Vickie's face.
“You mean…?!”
Sheila nods, “I'll help you, but don't expect me to keep on courting him. I'll just have to find him a girl that'll really deserve him.”
Vickie holds her tongue, happy that her friend was at least planning to help her.

She could convince her that she's the one for Inuyasha later.

“So,” Sheila smiles at her friend, “what's the plan?”
“I-I'm not sure yet,” Vickie confesses, “I was trying so hard just to think of a way to get you to help me that I didn't make time to really plan past that.”
“That's OK,” Sheila lays back on her futon, “we've got time to figure all that out today.”
“Now that you're helping me,” Vickie giggles in happiness, “we're sure to succeed!”
“Yes, but I must spend some time with my friends,” Sheila glances over at her sleeping crew that has finally mixed in with Inuyasha's in complete comfort, “I don't want them to think that I've forgotten them.”
“That's OK,” Vickie sighs, “we'll probably have chores, knowing Keade.”
“Ye would be right.”
Both girls squeak in surprise, then stare dully at the old priestess.
“Don't ye look at me like that,” Keade says, handing them brooms, “wake ye friends and get to work!” …

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Everyone works cheerfully around the house and outside doing the laundry and cleaning the doorstep. Sheila talks to each of her friends, checking their handiwork and showing them what to do if they were doing it wrong. She was glad to just be among her little group and glares at Yusuke as he reaches for a beer in the bottom of his bag.
“OK, Keade,” Sango says, wiping her brow, “I think that's it.”
Sheila looks around curiously, becoming worried when she doesn't see Inuyasha or Kagome, “Where's the other two?”
“Inuyasha is cutting the firewood and young Kagome is taking a bath,” Keade says with a smile, “she really likes to be clean.”
~If that's the only thing she's doing~ Sheila thought as she hunts Inuyasha down and gawks at the beautiful sight before her. Inuyasha is cutting the wood with Tetsusaiga, his bare chest and back gleaming with a light sweat as he diligently finishes his task. Sheila had already made him take the pills and, after a bit of arguing, got him to take a bath and put on the ointment.
“Good morning Inuyasha,” she talks to herself as she approaches him, “that's what I'll say. Then I'll ask him how he's doing and-”
She stops once she and Inuyasha are eye to eye, “Hey,” was all she could say, embarrassingly breathless at the up close sight of his naked, deliciously built upper body.
“Morning,” Inuyasha acknowledges, “Look, don't go crazy or nothing, but I just wanted to say…”
“Yes,” Sheila encourages him, coming a little closer as he puts away his sword.
“I want to say,” he looks down at her, caught in some mysterious trance for a moment before he shyly looks away, “I just want to say thank you.”
Sheila smiles cheerfully, “No problem,” she says and, seeing Kagome, quickly grabs hold of him and his shirts, “we need to go back inside and talk a bit.”
“Um, OK,” Inuyasha wearily says, looking at her as though she's weird or lost her mind, “but I ain't taking no more medicine!”
“You don't gotta worry about that until lunchtime,” Sheila says, sitting him down next to her on her futon just close enough to Vickie so that only she could hear the conversation, “Inuyasha, do you remember the talk we had in the woods?”
“Yeah.”
“Were you being honest about not being sure about your feelings for Kagome?”
Inuyasha looks at the floor distractedly, “Yeah, I-I meant it.”
“What aren't you sure of,” Sheila questions quietly, “Is there any way I can help?”
“I don't really understand love,” Inuyasha says bluntly, “it's as simple as that.”
Sheila smiles, “You're lying aren't you?”
He blushes, “I'm just not ready to talk about it.”
“That's OK,” Sheila laughs to keep the conversation playful, “we can just talk about you letting me play with your ears.”
Inuyasha smirks, “Not a chance.”
“Oh come on,” she whines, “I promise that I'll only squeeze them a little.”
“Nope.”
“Please?”
“No.”
Sheila pouts, “You're mean.”
Inuyasha now smiles fully, bearing sharp white fangs as he pushes her over in puppy play, “I ain't that mean.”
Sheila squeals, teasingly fighting back, but is easily overpowered by Inuyasha, who tickles her until she cries.
“Big cry-baby,” he taunts.
“I'll get you back,” Sheila says, lightly whacking him upside the head, “mark my words!”
“Do you want me to tickle you again?”
She puts her hands up, laying on her back in surrender, “I give! I give!”
“Ok, Ok,” Keade laughs at the two, not noticing Kagome's glare, “ye had better start planning your next journey.”
Keiko looks up curiously from playing around with Yusuke, “Journey?”
“Where we goin',” Joey asks.
“Our goal is to defeat the evil Naraku,” Shippo pronounces proudly, then laughs as Kagome picks him up and cuddles him securely in her arms while playing with him.
“Naraku,” Yusuke asks.
Kelson frowns, “That doesn't sound like a good name.”
“That's the enemy,” Sheila explains before Kagome could take the liberty, “and we're gonna help them.”
Inuyasha glances at Sheila in surprise, “Really?!”
Sheila nods, “Of course! We're all becoming friends! And friends should always help each other out.”
“That's right,” Keiko agrees.
“I ain't got nothing better to do,” Yusuke answers.
“I'd hate to part from my new friend Rin,” Serenity admits, smiling as Rin puts a flower in her hair.
“This doesn't happen to me every day,” Kelson says, taking a picture of Vickie before getting up and running from her.
“I always wanted to be a superhero,” Joey says with a laugh, causing everyone else to laugh along with him.
“We can use all the help we can get,” Sango says happily, “it'll be much more fun with you guys coming along.”
“And we all can get to know each other much better,” Miroku says, winking at Keiko, “maybe we'll all bear children.”
Yusuke glares daggers at the lecherous monk, “You better hope that Keiko's babies are my kids or I'm gonna beat you back to your kid days!”
“But can you guys fight,” Kagome asks in false concern, “the journey is dangerous and we almost always run into demons!”
“Don't worry,” Hiei says, “Sheila can chase them off with firecrackers.”
Sheila sweatdrops as everyone, except Kagome, laughs, “Not you too, Hiei!”
“We're not weaklings,” Yusuke says, punching his hand, “some of us fight for a living!”
“He's right,” Joey says with a cocky laugh, “Joey Wheeler can kick anybody's butt!”
“As long as that butt doesn't belong to Seto Kaiba,” Sheila teases.
“Hey,” Joey makes a fist at her, “what does dat mean? I ain't afraid to give that rich pretty boy a piece of my mind!”
“Maybe not,” Keiko smiles, “but you like the sex too much to complain if he decides to just beat your ass.”
Joey grumbles with a blush as everyone laughs, Sheila turning around and gasping at finding Inuyasha right behind her; still not having on a shirt.
“Normally I'm the one that leads the group,” Inuyasha says, ignoring Sango's glare and Shippo rolling his pretty eyes, “but I'm guessing you're the leader of your pack.”
Sheila immediately stands up straight, keeping full eye contact with Inuyasha, “Yes I am.”
“So what are we gonna do,” he questions, “Are you willing to give up your authority or-”
“We'll lead together,” Sheila answers curtly, “that way we can lead both groups as one if anything happens to the other.”
“Sounds good,” Kelson agrees, “it would be more like a democracy if you do it that way cause we can go to Sheila and complain if we don't like something Inuyasha's doing, or go to Inuyasha if we don't like something Sheila's doing,” he smiles at them both, “or we all can just draw straws with our own ideas!”
Both Sheila and Inuyasha sweatdrop, “Draw straws?”
Kelson nods, “It's either that or the traditional Rock, Paper, Scissors!”
Everyone smirks at Kelson before glancing over at the pair; waiting in silent tension as Inuyasha thinks about it, then sighs in relief as Inuyasha bows to Sheila with a smile.
“Fine,” he responds simply, “that'll work.”
Sheila nods, staring at his perfect back as he wanders outside.
“So where we goin',” Joey asks.
“To Tsutoni Village,” Vickie says, patting Sheila on her shoulder to pull her out of her Inuyasha-induced trance, “We better get ready!”
Everyone cheers, readying their packs while Sheila and Vickie go outside.
“Hey, Yoshimura,” Sheila says in happy greetings, waving over at the old farmer.
He smiles, “Ah, Sheila. What can I do for you?”
“Do you have any fresh fruits and veggies that I may take with me now,” she questions, “we're going on a long journey and I couldn't find any one with better fruits and veggies to go to.”
Yoshimura laughs at the compliment, “Well! I can't say no to that! I'll start packing you some of our freshest produce right away!”
Sheila bows to him, “Thank you, I'll be back to pick them up.”
“Wow,” Vickie says once they're out of earshot, “I could never get that old geezer to give me anything free!”
“He just wanted someone to be nice to him,” Sheila says, bowing in front of someone's house, “Lady Hanna,” she calls, “are you in?”
The village kimono saleswoman peeks out her door, her blues eyes becoming bright at the sight of Sheila, “Sheila,” Hanna gushes, coming out and hugging her, “I have so much more stuff to tell you, your ears might fall off from the lot of it!”
“I would love to hear it,” Sheila says with a polite smile, “but I must journey with my friends. Are the kimonos I ordered from you ready?”
“Why of course,” Hanna laughs, “did you ever doubt me?”
“Never,” Sheila laughs along with her, accepting the newly made kimonos, “Thank you so much Hanna! We must talk soon.”
“Oh, we must! We must! Have a good journey!”
“OK,” Vickie blinks, “how did you and Big Mouth Hanna become friends?”
“I just listened to her talk,” Sheila smiles, “this is how I make important friends, Vickie. Everyone has a want or need.”
“Hey Sheila,” two kids shout while running past.
“Hey Little Roshi, Hey Tisane,” Sheila calls back, laughing at Vickie's perplexed look, “I also did a little snooping of my own on Kagome and Inuyasha, so everyone should know me a little bit by now.”
“Oh,” Vickie smiles, “I see.”
“Hello Tattoo,” Sheila calls to the traveling salesman.
“Hey Sheila! How's it going, Vickie,” Tattoo calls back with a warm smile on his youthful face, “What can I do for you?”
“We're getting ready to travel,” Sheila says, “got anything good?”
Tattoo shows Sheila his wares, explaining the use of some of the medicines and also showing her some of his exclusive weapons.
“I'll take a dozen of your kunai, three sets of daggers, your Moon Sword and at least ten of each of your medicines, foods and amulets,” Sheila orders, handing Vickie the kimonos so that she could pull out a pocketful of money to pay for the items.
“I think you have everything,” Vickie says with a sweatdrop when Sheila also buys herself a new, bigger travel pack and a young male Akita-mix already attached to a travois from other villagers and travelers that seem to want her to take or buy whatever they had to offer.
Sheila laughs, “Yes Vickie, I think so too. Come on, let's head back to Keade's.”…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“Are ye ready?”
Inuyasha nods at Keade, seeing that Sheila has checked to see if everyone is packed correctly and that Psychic, the lanky, cream brown and black Wolf/Akita puppy attached to the travois was also fed and ready to go before she had disappeared to ready herself.
“Alright everyone,” Sheila calls to the entire group, seeming to come out of nowhere and laughs nervously as they stare at her new clothes in obvious fascination, “R-ready to go,” she asks Inuyasha, turning cherry-brown as he looks her over.
Inuyasha takes in the intricate detail of his family's crest on the “separated” red sleeves with white stitching holding it to Sheila's black Hitoe* with a red Kosode* and the near copy cat of his own red hakama gracing her lower body; except both sides of the outside part of the hakama had a white design of the family crest just a little above the ankles. Wearing black moccasin-like shoes, little red, black and white decorated pouches that's tied to her upper thighs with her kunai on her right and her daggers on her left, a black sash belt with white ends that holds her newly bought sword hanging low on her curvy waist, some black armor with sharp red edges and white tips on her arms and also as a whole, flexible upper body armor protectively covering her from the top of her breasts all the way in between her lanky legs. She even has on pauldrons similar to the one his older brother wears on both of her shoulders, a strange amulet around her neck like a treasured heirloom and a nearly transparent red bandana with the family crest yet again etched dominantly on a protective little white plate armor underneath it. With the bandana holding her bangs, now with sharp looking tips painted white like fangs, her eyes seem bright and deadly; the long red ribbons of the bandana and the white ribbons holding her hair up into a ponytail trailing down her armored back like a wicked set of flags along side her newly braided hair.

Inuyasha is speechless.

Never has he seen a human, or even his own sister, look so much like a modern-mixed warrior princess of the Feudal Era!

Sheila holds her breath as Sesshomaru comes forward, confused when he holds her face and turns it sideways. She blushes at feeling him blow lightly on both her cheeks then gasps in shock and pain as he draws his nails against both cheeks just hard enough to draw bleed; a little smoke from the acid in his nails keeping the new wounds from healing.
“Now you bear the scent and markings of the aristocratic generation of the Great Inu no Taisho,” Sesshomaru says, turning away from her, “demons will think twice before attacking you.”
Sheila touches her cheeks in wonder while Vickie whines at her brother.
“Hey! How come you never told me you could give us the marks?”
“You didn't ask.”
Vickie growls at her older brother, chasing after his retreating form, “Come back here, Sesshomaru! I've got something you've been asking for years to get! A real royal beat down!!!”
Keade smiles at the bickering brother and sister before looking back at Sheila and Inuyasha, “Are ye ready now,” she asks again.
Sheila and Inuyasha look at each other, the new claw marks on Sheila's upper cheeks seeming to glow with excitement.
“We're ready Keade,” Sheila answers, “ready for a new adventure to destroy Naraku!”
“Right,” Inuyasha agrees in his usual firmness, not seeing the determined look on Sheila's face as he turns and leaves the house.
~My decision has been made ~ Sheila thought, smirking secretly at Vickie and Sesshomaru, ~Now it's time for the real adventures to begin!~

A Hitoe is a kind of jacket that isn't as long as a kimono. It is an unlined robe with “bell sleeves” and can also be tucked into the pants.

A Kosode is kind of like undergarments (the undershirt). Kosode means “little sleeve,” and the shirt is called this because its sleeve opening is little!

Cursed Writer: I can't believe how this story is just moving along like this!
Shippo: (Happily eating candy) Hmm!
Cursed Writer: Alright. I promise to at least try not to say the “f” word that I love…for now
Inuyasha: Oh brother
Sango: It never changes
Cursed Writer: Hey give it a rest already! I said that I'd try! Anyways, please review and send flames if you must!
