Chapter 2-I'm Where!?!

"What!" startled, Kamira sat up quickly, a bit too quickly. "Owwww." she groaned, rubbing her bruised head gingerly.

"Yeah,it looks like you had quite a bad fall." said the other girl symphatically, standing up. "Need a hand?" she asked, holding out hers.

"Uh, sure. Thanks." said our heroine grabbing her hand. "Where am I? And who are you?" she asked glancing at around at the forest setting that had
somehow replaced her room.

"You're in the Epoh forest. You must have gotten lost. My name's Laura. What's yours?"

"Uh, my name's Kamira. Where did you say I was again?"

"Epoh forest, near 'Epoh city'. " said the Yusuke look-alike behind Laura. "Trainers are so clueless." he muttered aside.

Laura turned toward him reproachingly and cried "Yusuke! Don't be mean." She turned back towards Kamira grinning apologetically. "Sorry," she said "If
you've ever seen Yu Yu Ha kusho then you know how Yusuke can be, especially when's he's cranky."

"Cranky!" Yusuke started indignantly, but he was interrupted by a startled Kamira.

"Yusuke? As in Yusuke Urameshi? As in Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi?!" Kamira said, her voice growing higher with each sentence. "You mean he's
real?!"

Laura, who was looking confused as Kamira went on, said "Of course he's real, what did you- wait!" she suddenly cried out "You're a newbie aren't you?"

"A what?" Kamira replied, looking at Laura blankly.

"It took you this long to figure it out?" Yusuke said witheringly before she could answer. Laura shot a glare at him before turning back to Kamira.

"I meant that your new to the Bishi world." she said with a grin.

"The Bishi wor- you mean it's real too!" Kamira cried looking from Yusuke to Laura with wide eyes. "So" she said with dawning comprehension "that means
you're a trainer!"

"Yep, that's right." Laura replied with a grin. Yusuke just grunted.

"Wow." Kamira whispered, then mentally shook herself and finally took a good look at her new acquaintance. Laura wore a pair of simple white and green
striped tennis shoes, a white cargo-type skirt, and a green, sleeveless shirt. Around her waist was a brown belt, hanging on which were several black and silver balls
that Kamira assumed were what were used to capture the bishies. She had light green eyes accented by large, round glasses. Her hair was a light brown and Kamira
guessed it'd be about shoulder length if not tied back into a ponytail. To be honest she kind of reminded her of Fuu from MKR.

Kamira then turned her mental gaze to herself, thinking how she looked next the neatly clothed Laura with her yellow, grass-stained pajamas and blue fuzzy slippers. /Well, this is a nice first impression I'm making./ she thought ruefully.

"Hello? Kamira? Are you still there?"

"Huh" Kamira was suddenly shaken from her thoughts by Laura waving a hand in front of her face. “Oh, sorry I got kind of distracted.”

“That’s okay, I guess you're a little shocked, and the fall probably didn’t help much. Though,” she paused “it’s strange that it was so hard on you. I mean,
it’s never been that fun for most people, but their usually so careful.”

“They?” Kamira asked.

“The creators of this world, Tokio and LSS. Usually when they bring a new trainer into this world they make sure that they don’t get hurt, though
unfortunately nausea doesn’t count.” Laura replied, grinning ruefully.

“Great.” /Just my luck, they get distracted or something just as I get pulled in./ Kamira thought wryly. Then she realized something. "Wait, you mean I get to be a trainer too!"

"Well, yeah. What did you think, you came here for a nice little visit?" Yusuke asked. Laura chose to ignore him this time.

"Don't mind him." she reassured Kamira. "He's just a little cranky because he lost a battle this morning to a Kuwabara."

"Yusuke lost to Kuwabara?" Kamira exclaimed. "Man, no wonder he's cranky."

"For the last time, I AM NOT CRANKY!" he shouted from behind Laura.

“Well, we better get you to orientation.” Laura said, still ignoring him. “The city’s this way.” She turned around and headed towards the edge of the forest. Yusuke followed her with a disgruntled expression and, after a few seconds of indecision, Kamira followed Yusuke.

“So, is Yusuke your only Bishie?” Kamira asked tentatively, catching up to Laura.

“Oh, no, I have a Keiko also and the whole dark tournament team except for Genkai, you know Yusuke, Kuwabara, Karama, and Hiei. I’m trying to get the whole Yu Yu Ha kusho cast, it's my favorite-” Laura stopped as she realized that Yusuke was no longer following them. He had halted a few steps behind and was staring into the trees to his left. "Yusuke?" Kamira also stopped and turned towards the spirit detective. "Yusuke?" Laura called again "Are you okay?"

"Huh?" Startled, he tore his gaze away from the trees. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I just...I thought I saw something, but I guess it was just my imagination."

"Oh. Well, okay then. Now where was I..." Laura rambled on naming the reasons why Yu Yu Ha kusho is the greatest anime on Earth with Kamira listening, eyes slightly glazed, and, after a quick glance at the trees again, Yusuke followed. /I'm not so sure it was my imagination./ he thought to himself. /I'm almost positive I saw something, and it wasn't any bishi I've ever seen. It didn't look human either. Maybe it was half-bishi or something./ He shrugged. /Oh, well. Whatever it was, if tries to bother us I'm sure I can take care of it./ Despite this reassuring thought he moved up next Laura protectively, just in case.

Meanwhile, Kamira had stopped listening to Laura after a few minutes and was now concentrating on her new future in the Bishi world. /Oh, wow!/ she thought dreamily, the glazed look of interest on her face carefully cultivated during her math and science classes at her high school. /This is great! I'm going to be able to spend the rest of my life here with-./ Kamira's thoughts came to an abrupt halt as she realized the significance of her last thought.

/The rest of my life? But, I'm only fourteen, I'm not old enough to be on my own! And what about my family?/ Nervously, she drew a lock of her waist-length black hair and began to braid.

It was very pretty hair, at least that was what she thought, and cut into a point at the end rather than a straight line. In her opinion it was the best part of her appearance, though she also had very pretty brown eyes and white teeth, currently hidden by braces. She was of average height, but often felt short because of a certain little brother who just happened to be taller than her.

/What if-/ she thought, now unbraiding her hair. /What if I never see my family or friends again?/

"Laura! Wait up!" The trio was greeted by a loud cheery voice not long past the gates. A young girl, she looked about sixteen or seventeen, ran up to them. She had wavy auburn hair down to her shoulders, dark green eyes and was about five and a half feet tall. Panting slightly the girl asked "What are you doing back here already, Laura? You left for the Yu Yu Hakusho territory just this morning."

"I got a little sidetracked. Found a newbie in Epoh forest on the way there." Laura replied, pointing over her shoulder at Kamira, who waved. "Her name's Kamira. Kamira, this is Melisa." she introduced them. Melisa waved back.

"Oh, so you're taking her to orientation?" Melisa asked, looking a little bit sad for some reason.

"Um, yeah. Why, what's wrong?" Laura asked, concerned. Yusuke put his hands behind his head as the two talked, bored, while Kamira turned her attention to the fascinating crowd of bishies and humans, all thoughts of home forgotten for the moment.

"Nothing really, I was just hoping that since you came back we could maybe travel together." Melisa replied.

"Well, after I drop her off I could meet you here if want."

"No, that's okay." Melisa shook her head. "I want to leave right now so I can get to Gundam Wing territory as soon as I can."

"Gundam Wing territory? But, don't you already have a Trowa?" Laura asked.

"Yeah, but's he's my only bishi and I figure if I catch another it might make him jealous and he'll finally fall in love with me!" Melisa cried, going starry-eyed.

"Oh." Laura sweatdropped. "Right, of course." She glanced at her watch. "Sorry, Melisa but we really got to go. The next orientation class starts in fifteen minutes."

"That's okay, I better be going too. I want to get there before nightfall. See ya!" With that she ran off towards the gate. Kamira managed to tear her gaze away from the crowds just in time to see Melisa trip, fall, and burst out crying. The trio sweatdropped in unison.

Yusuke sighed, having also seen the spectacle. "That's Melisa. A human Usagi." Kamira and Laura nodded.

"Not very mature for a college student, I have to say."

"College student!" Kamira cried in surprise. "Isn't she a bit young for college?"

Laura stared at her. "No, she's twenty-two."

"Twenty-two! Are you sure?"

Laura grinned, finally understanding her surprise. "I know, she looks a lot younger doesn't she?"

After about five minutes of pushing through throngs of people, both human and bishi, they finally reached what Kamira assumed was the orientation building. She got this assumption from the ten-foot tall letters on the roof that spelled out ORIENTATION.

"Wow." she commented, staring at said letters.

"Yeah." Laura agreed. "I guess they want to make sure people find it."

"No kidding." Yusuke snorted. He turned toward Kamira. "Well, go ahead."

"What?"

"Into the building for your orientation. Go ahead." he repeated.

"By myself?" Kamira asked in alarm. All the doubts she had in the forest came rushing back at her. She took a step back. "I'm not sure I can do this."

"Go on." Laura urged. "We'll be right here when you come out."

"You will?"

"We will!?"

"Sure we will." Laura replied to both of them.

"What about catching a Genkai?" Yusuke asked. "Wasn't that the whole reason we were going to that particular YYH territory. Because of the rumors of trainers spotting a Genkai?"

"Well, yeah but's it almost five o'clock. There's no way we'd get there and back before nightfall and I really don't want to spend the night in Yu Yu Hakusho territory. No offense." Laura added as an afterthought.

"None taken."

"Excuse me?" Kamira broke into their conversation. "Are you going to be here when I come out or not?"

"We'll be here." Laura assured Kamira.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"Whatever." This last comment was from Yusuke. "Are you going in or not?" he asked, mimicking her previous question.

"I'm going in." Kamira said determinedly.

"Finally." Yusuke muttered. Kamira stuck her tongue out at him before turning towards the tall, office-like building. With a deep breath she opened the door, and went inside.

Yusuke and Laura watched the door for a few seconds and when she didn't come out Yusuke gave out a loud sigh. "About time! Okay, let's ditch her." Yusuke turned towards the gate but Laura grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him back. Without a word she dragged him to a nearby bench where she made him sit next to her.

Kamira entered the building to loud, angry shouting. Very familiar, loud, angry shouting. "Oh, no." she said in horror, recognizing the figure yelling at the receptionist. "Not you. Anyone but you!"

Melisa walked along the path briskly, making sure to watch out for potholes or anything else that might make her trip again. Though, at least if she fell out here, there wouldn't be anyone to see her. She was so concentrated on watching the ground in front of her that she didn't notice that she was being followed and had been for the past mile.

"Hi there!" said a girl from behind her. Melisa turned around in surprise. The girl was about five feet tall with beautiful, shoulder length, dark brown hair and, strangely enough, violet eyes. There was something else about her that was strange about her, but Melisa couldn't put her finger on what.

"Uh, hello." Still a little startled she returned the greeting. She recovered quickly. "My name's Melisa, what's yours." she asked, holding out a hand. The girl also put out a hand, only she held a bishi ball in hers.

"Trowa!" Melisa immediately recognized her beloved Trowa's bishi ball, having spent hours staring at it. Trowa didn't let her stare at him directly for hours. Said it made him uncomfortable for some reason. She hadn't realized that she'd even lost his Bishi ball.

"This yours?" the girl asked.

"Yeah! Where'd you find it?" Melisa asked. She reached out to take it, but before she could the girl tightened her grip crushing the bishi ball. A startled Bishounen appeared in a flash of light beside the two girls, but Melisa was too shocked to take notice. She stared at the shards of Bishi ball that lay in the girl's hand, then at her face. The girl was smiling.

"Why?" Melisa whispered before disappearing in a flash of light of her own. She reappeared in front of a computer in a public library. She gazed at the screen, to shocked to even cry.

Wow. That has got to be the longest chapter I have ever written. Ever. Wow. Sorry, about that. Guess I'm still in a little shock that I finally finished it. Oh, and sorry Satanira for what I did to Melisa. I'd say it turns out okay for her in the end but I'm not even sure of that yet. Besides it ruin the surprise. I hope I at least portrayed your character the way you meant me too.
