Crossover Fan Fiction ❯ Valley Quest ❯ Valley Quest: 8 ( Chapter 8 )
“So you grow carrots,” I asked Tenchi the Carrot Farmer. He was Sasami’s husband. Today she was elsewhere and he was visiting to fill a thermos with coffee and buy some mochi for breakfast.
“My wife has a spaceship that eats carrots. You’ve met her. The cabbit?” he explained.
“Ah, yes. The cabbit you said? Sort of half cat and half rabbit? And it sort of talks, but I don’t understand the language. Sasami does the translations.”
“Right. Well, she’s sometimes a pirate ship, and sometimes a battleship. She’s semi-retired now that Ryoko is married and pregnant.”
“And Ryoko, Wild Girl, is also your wife?” I clarified.
“Well, yes. There’s good reasons for that,” he said bashfully.
“Say no more. We’re very accepting here. The Sagara family is well known.”
“Ah, right yes. Sasami explained,” Tenchi admitted, trying to recover his composure. I finished pouring the coffee into his thermos and told him the cost. He paid, I made change, and wished him a good day.
An hour later a somewhat frazzled blonde with a good tan and a funny stewardess uniform with GP on the shoulder arrived, asking if I’d seen Tenchi.
“He was here earlier. He’s probably in his fields now,” I said. She thanked me and left, heading for a… flying car. And nobody much noticed the lack of wheels as it hovered above the ground a few feet up and roared away, heading northwest.
The following day the blonde with the funny uniform returned in plain clothes and introduced herself.
“Ahh. So nice to be on leave,” she said. “I heard you make great coffee. Can I get some with milk and sugar?” she asked. I provided for the usual fee and she settled down. It was quiet, being after the morning rush, and no group meetings this early. I joined her after I finished my cleanup.
“So, welcome to the neighborhood. I take it you live up the Masaki valley with the rest of the clan?” I asked.
“Oh yes. I am one of Tenchi’s wives. We’ve had a very long engagement,” she admitted. “And I just tested positive. I’m pregnant. I’m so excited. Ever since he saved me from that black hole I’ve been in love.” A black hole. A carrot farmer who can breach a black hole. Well, that’s certainly worth knowing.
“Congratulations. I understand several of the ladies are similarly gravid?” I asked. She pondered the word and then nodded.
“Oh yes. And Ayeka will be giving birth soon. It’s very exciting. Ever since we started raising his little brother it’s been on all our minds.” I raised up my little Yuki and demonstrated that I understood. She looked happy so I let my little boy make goo noises at the genki girl. She enjoyed her coffee and seemed even more perked up at the end of it.
“Another cup?” I asked. She agreed and I joined her at the table resting Yuki on my lap as he slept. He was getting big for this. He’d sometimes try to walk. I am pretty sure he would start that soon.
“If you happen to see a thinner version of me with a mop wander through, that’s my mom, Mitoto. Washu is my great grandmother, but she doesn’t know we’re both married to the same man. I’ve tried to tell her, but it’s like she can’t hear me,” she admitted, dropping a huge bombshell. Did that make her a demi God? Or a Demi-demi-demigod? “I’m just relieved that I get maternity leave so someone else can take over patrolling the Solar System. Running off the kids in their Dad’s space ship is one of the downsides, and you’ve got all those colony ships in orbit, and orbital weapons platforms. It’s turning into a floating junkyard up there.”
