A/N: Hey there Medaiminer. Guess who's decided to post something again? So I wrote this poem a few months ago and figured I'd try it out up here. I'm pretty sure this one and Escape From The Mirror are my all time favorites I've ever written, not to be vain.

The Waltz of Insanity

The fire burns as the pyre rises

Taller and taller it gets

I watch the light dance across their faces

And I watch their shadows grow into hideous creatures

They laugh as they dance around each other, their shadows at war with one another

Someone feeds the fire and it grows even more, casting the darkness away

I'm sure if I turn and look at my own shadow it will look just like theirs

But I'm afraid to see what monster I've created

I don't want to know what lies behind me if it's anything like theirs

Am I the only one who notices these shadows?

Am I the only one who sees these beasts that follow our every movements?

Their shrieks of joy get louder and louder and they dance faster and faster and the fire grows higher and higher and the shadows become uglier and uglier

And still I sit and watch in horror as the endless night unfolds

Still too afraid to turn my head away from the blinding light and deafening roars

The sights and sounds swirl around my head, churning into a sour nightmare

I try closing my eyes and holding my ears but the darkness and silence frighten me more than the nightmare before me

I breathe heavily as someone extends a hand to me and with their back to the light their face turns into a grotesque mask which disappears with each flicker of light

I rise to join the waltz of insanity, my monstrous shadow out of mind
