Crossover With Non-anime Series Fan Fiction ❯ Avatar: Dream Walkers ❯ 1:2 How to Save a Life ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
The dream seemed like it was never ending now. The white lights were still there and
there were still voices though she couldn't understand then any more, they were just noise
now. She had lost all track of time, before the dreams came and would end after a while but
they were becoming more frequent. The feeling she had of crying was now gone, she had
not had the feeling in a long time now.
No, the fear was gone, the feeling of being an observer was all that was left. She wasn't
dead, at least she didn't thing so. She mentally shook her head trying again to wake up
from this dream. The salvation she so desperately hoped for never came. She eventually
started counting the times the lights came on and went off. Light day and night.
The counting keep her occupied at first, but it was not helping any more. The dream was
always there now, only slightly changing. Sometimes there was a white blur, other times
there might be a colorful blur that moved, it varied from day to night. It was hopeless she
no longer knew what was happening to her, she was doubting her self, doubting life. She
couldn't continue like this, there was no point, if this was all there was, if she could never
wake up, then someone please end it. Sleeping Beauty had lost all hope of ever waking
up...

The air was just as thick as it ever was, the way he remembered it. Earth sucked just as
much as I remember, a very tired looking Parker Selfridge thought to himself as he stepped
of the Valerye shuttle on to the firm ground of Earth. He had not taken more than five steps
when he was stopped by a man in casual black suit. Oh Damn, its never good when people
in black suits stop you. He was actually worried, he didn't know what the backlash was for

RDA on Earth. After he sent his report back he went into cryo-sleep and had woken up just
about 12 hours ago.
"Mr. Selfridge, please wait here." The large man said. The two stood side by side until the
shuttle finished the offload of its passengers. It had only been about five minuets but, time
seemed to stand still. The shuttle crews had started giving the ship a once over when a limo
pulled up and out stepped a young man of his early thirty's, dressed pretty casual, much
like his own attire.
As the guy got closer Parker could swear he had seen the guys some where. Then it hit him,
it was Warren Blalock, the son that is. He meet him a time or two but that was almost what
ten, twelve years now. He had heard that Warren senior had died, so that meant that he
was in charge now.
"Hi there, your Parker, good to see you again its been a while. How was the trip?" He
gestured to the muscle, as Selfridge had taken to mentally calling him. The man waled to
the limo and retrieved a bag out of it. He didn't even give Parker time to respond before he
again spoke, and his words really cough him off guard.
"Get back on the shuttle, your coming with me." He said as muscle came back tossing the
duffel bag at him, with enough force to make him take a step back. Warren walked past him
as he regained his footing. He turned looking at Warren walk into the shuttle wondering
what the hell was going on. He had only been back for less than an hour. Then it hit him, as
he looked at the bag in his hands and then to his boss.
"Where are we going?" It just rolled out and his heart skipped a beat knowing the answer
already.
"Where the hell do you think," he said turning around, starting at his with a dumb look on
his face. One that said do you really have to ask. "Pandora."
^_^_^
The mid day sun had was just rising, sending fresh new rays of light through the
branches of Home Tree. Well the new Home Tree, thought Jake Sully. He smiled as he
ventured to the upper levels of the Omaticy 's new home. There he found Naytiri she had a
small gathering of the younger children around her, he stood at the opening in the great
tree and stopped. She looked to him with a grin as she continued the story. He watched and
listened as she told a story of a warrior that came from a far off land, who became Turuk
Makto and saved the People.
She embellished the story a little there at the end he thought. His face shining with a big
grin as he shook his head, silently laughing. When the story ended and the children began
to clear out. Leaving only Naytiri and Jake, the children nodding to him respectfully as they
left. He walked over to her wrapping an arm around her smiling as he kissed her. He pulled
back from the kiss still smiling.
For all there hardships the Omaticaya people, his people, had suffered, life had turned out
wonderful. If you would have told him that life could have been this wonderful he would
have called you a lier. Jake took Naytiri's hand as the two made there way to the ground
level.
"How are Max and Norm?" she asked as the two walked down to the ground floor.

"Max is doing well, he said it would be about two more years before the Avater was ready to
be used. Norm is good, he'll be up later tonight, he is helping Max with a few things in the
lab." he said thinking about the others that had stayed behind.
Many chose to stay, but only a handful were chosen to stay, most notably Max and Norm.
Max for one knew going back to Earth would be signing his own death warrant. So no Max
had decided that this was as good a place as any to call his home.
For Norm it was a no brainier, he had spent his life training for this to come here to explore
and in the end he found more than he bargained for. If you would have asked would he ever
become the man he is today. The man who fought along side the Na'Vi, who now was
willing to lay his life on the line to prove him self among them, just as his friend Jake had
done, no. He would have never thought he had the guts to do it. He had gained a lot of
respect during battle, but still he wanted to go all the way and when Norm spoke to Jake he
emphasized all the way.
He still had to prove himself in becoming a man, but he was taking his time enjoying the
experience. It was a small price to pay having to wait, he had waited all his life for a true
calling like this, he could wait a little longer. Jake kind of envied him, but he looked to his
mate and grinned, he wouldn't change any thing. The other scientist were doing well most
choosing to continue to learn about there new home for now though.
Those people chose to be there thought, there was only one exception to that rule. Adam
Greenfield, it was a fluke, he was stationed in the middle of no where, even by Pandora
standards. The station was forgotten, and with no alternative to get back to Earth, he was
stuck on Pandora against his will.
"Max did ask me if I would fly out and check on Adam." Naytiri looked to Jake with
questions. "The guy out at the weather station, you know he has the nantang that follows
him around." The realization of who he was speaking of showing on his face, then it was
replaced with a slightly more stern look.
She did not really hate this Adam, it always seemed that he did not try to understand any
one or any thing. He was content to stay by him self, the only exception to him being alone
was the nantang that seemed to always be with him. She huffed a bit.
"If he does not wish to interact with even his own people, why would he do so with us." She
said as nicely as she could. "He was not even part of the skypeople that wanted to stay."
she finished.
There was merit to her words, he wasn't part of the group that were given the opportunity
to stay. In all the commotion the days following the Final War he had been forgotten. It was
just bad luck on his part that the communications system at the weather station had been
down and had yet to be fixed. As a result he was in the dark about what all happened, and
was left behind. About three weeks later he just came walking up into Hells Gate with a
viperwolf at his side and a crossbow over his shoulder, like he was out for a Sunday stroll.
He told them about how there communications had been down and they were waiting on
the thing to be fixed, but the crew never came. After a week the other members of his team
had decided to try and make the hike to The Park, it was only a days hike and they were
running out of supplies he said. He had stayed behind in the event that someone came, but
no one did. Jake kinda felt bad for the guy, but he seemed to make it hard for any one to

fell bad for him. Naytiri was right he did come off as a very anti social person, though Jake
kinda felt a little responsible for his situation.
Max had looked the guy up in the RDA employ files. Adam Greenfield, he arrived before Max
and before the Avatar program got into full swing. He was technically under the jurisdiction
for the science department, that meant at one point Grace was his boss. He for the most
part had a spotless record he had been in the army served his tour and then received a
general discharge. Joined the RDA and came here, he did remember Max saying something
to the effect of it was odd for family not to be mentioned. Maybe they were dead, Tommy
was the only family he had had left maybe he was the same. I mean he didn't have a hand
in the war and he seemed harmless enough.
"Well Max said he hasn't called in, in a few days and would like me to check on him, so Ill
go out in the morning." Naytiri gave him another sigh to which he returned a stern look.
Bother were brought out of there battle of wills when something grabbed them both around
the mid sections pulling all three to gather. This made both Jake and Naytiri forget about
the conversation and look down at the child hugging them all together as he looked up at
the two.
"Father, Mother." He said in Na'Vi with a big grinning. "I see you."
"I see you, Ralu." Both Naytiri and Jake said at the same time. He was only a little over a
year old, Pandora time that is, but he had grown so much in that time, and so had Jake. He
could never thank Eywa enough for this life.
^_^_^_^
It had been a long day for Dr. Ramir Alda, well day wasn't the right word, year would be
more accurate. He had weathered the trip pretty well so far, the crew of the Atlantis were
actually pretty nice people. They seemed to enjoy him, he figured that the crew knew each
other so well having been together on missions like this so much, his input on conversations
was a welcome flavor to the mixture. But the year had been a bad one, Suvi seemed to be
slipping away her brain activity was becoming more and more erratic. He did say it out loud
it was almost like she had lost the will to live. They wouldn't arrive on Pandora for another
year or so.
Not to mention that he didn't have everything he needed here on the Atlantis namely Suvi's
clone. That was always the plan clone her body and use Psionic Link Transfer System or
PLTS. It was almost the same as the Psionic Link System that the AVTR program used, a
device he also created during his time with Project Genesis. That option was no long open to
him due to Warren Blalock. The little so and so made him have to leave research behind in
his hurry. Research and materials like the clone, that was now on the Prometheus. While it
would arrive only a month late not having it here was going to cost him his life's work, and
it was a life he had promised someone he would save.
"Damn you Warren." He cursed, smacking his fist on the table.
"You ok, Dr. Alda." He turned putting his glasses back on not recognizing the voice. It was
Dr. Maharishi, what was she doing awake, other than startling him. He tried to make light of
how he felt with his next words, but she could see he didn't have much cheer in him.
"Oh Miss Maharishi, are we there already?" he said his face betraying his voice. She could
tell he was tired and by the look of it just warn out.

"No I fear not Ramir, and just call me Kaoko." she said coming in the room and sitting down
at the table. "So whats on your mind Ramir, I see Sleeping Beauty is still out like a light.
How long has it been since you sleep." she sniffed the air as the other doctor sat down. "Or
taken a bath." She added with e slight chuckle.
It was nice seeing someone else other than the usual faces. Again she was right he was
tired and he probable did have an oder about him. Then the he realized that she should still
be asleep. Something must have happened, his face took on a look of concern as he licked
his lips for his next question. Another thing he would add to the dislikes of space travel,
there was no moisture on the ship.
"Is everything alright. I mean for you to be awake you shouldn't be up should you." He was
easy to read Maharishi thought his face was so vibrant when he spoke he really was
concerned.
She sighed, "It was one of my team, seems there was a complication. Mike Truner, he had
some kind of episode, the medic said it looked like an aneurysm." she shook her head. "First
casualty and we haven't even made it there." she said looking down at her hand that were folded
together.
"Well better to get ready to make that two I'm sorry to say." He knew how she felt. He had lost a few
friends over the year and it wasn't easy.
"Call be dumb, but I have to ask. What was your plan for saving that little girl?" she motioned to Suvi with
her head. "I mean isn't it kinda crewel to drag her 4.4 light years just to..." She had to ketch her self she
almost said die, but she recovered well. "get cured."
"Well it wasn't my idea. My idea would have worked and she would be alive, and full of life." He buried his
face in his hands. "It was simple I have the means to transfer her consciousness to a clone body that I
had to leave to be transported on the Prometheus. The process is kind of like your team does with there
Avatars with the exception that this is permanent. i would have already done it if I had the body for her."
he chuckled with sadness in it. He had done so much and come so far to fail now. It was the greatest kick
in the face he had ever had. The room was silent until Kaoko chimed in.
"Does the body have to be human?" What the hell kind of question was that he thought, looking over to
her.
"What do you mean does it have to human? Do you..." he then trailed off understanding what she was
getting at. She nodded her head to as she spoke again.
"Because if it doesn't have to be human. I have a almost fully matured Avatar with her name on it. It isn't
fully grown but age wise she would be right where it needs to be. I can have it decanted and ready in
about a day." The tiredness she was feeling was gone, Alda to seemed to be in higher spirits.
He looked over at the other doctor hope plastered on his face with a big smirking grin plastered on his
face. He had forgotten about the Avatar, for all intensive peruses it was Suvi albeit larger and bluer, but
yes, it could work. No it was going to work, he could use the Avater as a surrogate till teh the other ship
arrived with the real one. It wasn't the best idea but it was better than nothing. He began to nod running
the idea over again in his mind, there were no other options and it was better to go out fighting than to just
let her fade into oblivion.

"Get the Avater ready, I get things ready on my end here but this just might work." he said pulling Kaoko
into a hug. "Sleeping Beauty is finally going to wake up."
^_^_^_^_^
The alarm clock on by Adam's bunk at Weather Station-51 started blaring at exactly
5:45am. Just as id did since he arrived on Pandora, and just like everyday he wasn't there
to turn it off. Its annoying beeping would have been turned off by any one else that was still
trying to sleep, but not by it owner. He had already left to start his day. He rather enjoyed
getting up early, and what it felt like to get outside to do manual labor. He wasn't a
stranger to it. Most of the people in the RDA on Pandora didn't like having to wear the Exo-
Packs. Some people had been afraid of going outside at all, the though of suffocating in the
air of Pandora was not something most wanted to think about.
He shrugged it off and he went around the modest garden, making a once over it to make
sure there were no weeds that might engulf his crop. That was one thing he was grateful for
and also kinda hated about this planet. Plants grew fast here, which helped him in regards
to having enough food, but it also meant he had to constantly tend his garden. It wasn't
that bad though he didn't mind it.
Buck was laying not far away under one of the shaded trees that hung over the fence of the
station. The viperwolf was still kinda cute when he was sleeping, it almost reminded Adam
of a real dog. He smiles looking at the animal paw at the ground a few times making a
motion as if he was running. Probably dreaming of chasing some other creature, he was a
predictor after all. Adam though to him self. He was pulled away from his thoughts as a
shadow passed over head, he looked up seeing a Banshee, Ikran as the natives called them,
circling around.
"Damn." he said, a sigh breaching his lips. Its always something. He thought, ducking low to
the ground, in behind a few of the larger plants in the garden. Buck must have sensed
something, being a native of Pandora did have its advantages he guessed. He was rousing
from his sleep, standing on all six legs looking around the area as the beast flew just over
the station proper. Adam saw the massive beast start to turn, it was coming back. At that
moment he decided it was best to just try and get back inside.
He stayed low to the ground and he moved to the edge of the crops and gave a whistle for
Buck, he perked up and took off in a dash in the direction it came from. As Buck made it to
Adam the two meet mid sprint dashing to the station. The two didn't make it to the station
as the massive beast landed on the ground no more that 10ft away. Adam pulling his
machete from it holster brandishing it at Banshee, as Buck yipped and hissed at him. One
thing was for sure, the two would go down fighting, though it would be a short fight he
thought.
It was at this moment he noticed the large blue man on the Ikran's back, and he rolled his
eyes with a sigh. He lower his blade slowly and holstered it, Buck was not quite ready to let
his guard down as the beast screeched at the two, but a reassuring hand on his back finally
made him at least back off. The rider dismounted, his large blue visage towering over Adam
by a least 3 feet. Adams adrenalin was now subsiding he got a better handle on the
situation.
Before him was Jake Sully grinning down at him. Jake kinda thought it was funny watching
him getting so worked up. "Hi there." Adam didn't seemed to be amused.

"Hello to you to Mr. Sully, think you might not scare us like that again." He said in a very
monotone voice. He walked by the visitor paying little mind to the Ikran that stared down at
him as he passed. Buck again letting out a snake like hiss at the other animal. "Leave'm
alone Buck, he an't going to do nothin to you." he shook his head as he opened the air lock
to enter the station holding the door open for the viperwolf.
"Well come in." He said motioning for Jake to join him.
Jake came to the door waiting for Adam to enter, then he entered the pressurized room, the
air hissing finally allowing him to enter the main part of the station. He had to admit it was
a bit cramped but it was manageable. He still held a happy look on his face as he came in, it
was so funny looking down at all the small desks in the control room to his right. Adam was
in front of him taking off his Exo-pack laying it on a table with the same crossbow he had
the day he wandered into Hells Gate.
"Sorry about scaring you, it wasn't really my intention." Jake said.
Adam knew he didn't mean to, but it still kind ticked him off. He waved his hand at Sully
dismissively. Adam didn't hate Sully, he didn't hate the Na'Vi, he just didn't think any of
them respected him. Like they saw him as nothing more than RDA dog that got left behind.
Unlike the AVTR team, he was not a permanent guest of Pandora's by his own choosing.
That seemed to cause a bit of dislike amongst some of those who did have a choice.
It also didn't help that he didn't make any great efforts to be more friendly. It would be 16
year come the rainy season next year, he thought that had counted for something. Add in
the fact he was kind of stuck in his ways, and you have were he stood.
"Don't worry about it. How you been Sully. I hadn't seen you in a while now." he said
smiling and motioning for him to follow. "Come on lets go down stares to some place that is
more accommodating to your size." he laughed, looking a Jakes tall frame ducking around
the lights that hung low in the room.
The two took the lift to the second floor where the ceiling was taller. Adam wasn't sure who
constructed Weather Station-51 but they had done a really nice job, the lower two levels of
the station were actually on the side of the mountain, over looking the land scape below.
The ceilings in both the second and third levels were about ten feet tall making it a little
easier for Jake to manage. The other advantage to the second floor was it had a, parlor
room, as Adam called it, a few desks and chairs with a couch and a large video projector.
The idea was that who ever was at the station was not going to get to leave to often so it
was fitted with a few extras that Hells Gate did not get. Even Jake had to admire it, it was
an awesome view looking out over the forest below and savanna farther in the distance. He
could see why Adam liked it here so much, there was a nice charm to it.
He followed Adam and the viperwolf to the lower level on the lift. He really couldn't stay to
long he had others duties to attend to.
"I've been doing well so has the . Ralu is getting big, you should see him." he said with a
smile. "Norm is becoming quite the warrior, he still over analyzes stuff, but he is
progressing well." As he walked in to the parlor and took a set on the couch. While Adam
was turning from the table he had walked to a glass in in one hand and a larger bottle in the
other. Jake took the bottle from him as Adam walked just past him looking out at the land
scape, as he took a sip from his glass.

"He, still planin on going full on native I guess." Adam said nodding and taking another sip
of his drink. "Good for him. Glad to see he found what he was looking for." he finished
dully.
"Yeah, he plans on going through with it. You know Max has an Avatar of his on in the
works. Eventually he may do the same." He was now trying to get to a tough subject that
had really started the falling out with Adam and everyone else.
Back when he first wandered up to Hells Gate and had the whole story dumped on him he
took it pretty well. All and all he took the news pretty well, just shrugging to himself. The
problem came when everyone started discussing what would happen next. The Na'Vi did
feel indebted to many of the Avatar team and as such, had been offered the opportunity to
go though the trials to join the clan. If they chose they may then have the chance to receive
the gift of being reborn into the clan. If they were deemed worthy that is.
Adam didn't really care for the idea of joining any thing it seemed, he said he was content
to getting some supplies and heading back out to the weather station. Neytiri was a bit
taken back by his words. "Thanks all the same, but I think I can manage on my own. I don't
really want to get in the way of those that chose to be here." Jake didn't think he really
meant it to come off as a slap in the face to her, but that was how she took it. Neytiri had
said things, and well after that Adam said a few things of his own.
Long short Max found that Adam left early the next morning. Jake asked a few of the clan to
keep an eye out for him a few tracker found him a few days later. He was only another days
walk from the weather station. It was a good four day hike there and he had survived it
both there and back, with no one with him other than Buck. It was kind of impressive, Jake
wasn't sure if he could have survived almost a week here and he was not a native. He was a
human and they were fragile creatures, he knew, he was one once. When the hunters told
Jake and Neytiri of this both were taken back. She scoffed, his words must have really
ticked her off, cause she could really hold a grudge.
"Max is actually the one that asked me to check on you and you know Adam," he said
looking at the bottle. "I'm sure Max would be more than happy to do the same for you. I
know you didn't ask for this life, but your here now." He said hopefully, but secretly he
knew the answer.
Adam turned to face Jake, noting how strange he looked sitting on the him sized couch.
"Yeah I'm sure he could. Look you all don't have to worry about me. I quite fine with the life
I have here, it might seem small but its mine. If Eywa want me to do something like you or
Norm then she can tell me her self." He said taking the last drink Noticing that Jake had not
touched his at all.
"You gona drink that or just sit there looking at it." he said pointing at the glass in Jakes
hand. Jake took a big swig from the bottle not really thinking about the contents. Adam had
formed a funny look on his face and Jake swiftly realized why as he swallowed and then
wised at the burning sensation.
"Whoo, what the hell is that?" He said looking a the bottle then sniffing it, while it did burn
his nose, it had a sweet smell to it.
"That would be Adam Greenfield's Old Number 7. Backs kind of a kick dudn it." he grinned.
Jake still looking at the bottle, he had just chugged a forth of it, not realizing what it was
and he was kind of regretting it now.

"You know you sip whiskey right?" he said. "It made from Utu mauti." he said in Na'Vi which
seemed to surprise Jake. "You know Push Fruit, I think I said that right."
"Wow, that stuff packs a punch."
"I know, right took me forever to get it right. Well man...or Na'Vi can not live on whiskey
alone." He said walking to the door of the room. "Can I interest you in something a bit more
solid on your stomach?"
Whoo that was harsh he thought. "No, that's ok I really need to get back."
"Well I know how it is, your an important man now I hear." he said walking around the
corner. His head ducked back in the room fro a moment pointing a out at the window. "You
might want to wait till after noon though its going to rain pretty heavy for a little bit." Then
ducked back around the corner going to the kitchen he guessed.
Jake looked to the window and noticed the light mist of rain that was starting to trickle
down. If nothing else the guys was a good meteorologist. "The rain should be clearing up by
about noon. With a after noon high of about 37c and we should have mostly clear skies for
the next two days." he added with a smile.
Jake knew Neytiri would be upset with him for not coming back sooner, but he did relish
flying in the rain. Plus even though Adam didn't say it Jake would almost venture to say he
enjoyed the company. If it got him to open up a little more it was a step in the right
direction.
The two had a good talk over launch. He never really talked with Adam, and think about it
now the only person he ever did really talk to was Max, and that was just to ask about some
supplies that he couldn't get. He told him about how he got Buck and about some of the
stuff that happened before life got really complicated with the RDA. The one thing that did
stick out about his was how many years he had been on Pandora, he arrived about a year
before the Avatar program started when he was 21. Just out of collage with a degree in
meteorology.
Time passed quickly for the two, and soon the rain had stopped. Jake thanked him for the
light meal, Adam apologized about the scarceness of the meal, siting he had not been out
fishing in a few days. It still surprised Jake he was alive, Eywa was ether truly blessing him
or she was taking pity on him.
As Jake flew off into the distance Adam stood there watching him fade into the mid day sky.
Buck leaning against his side, one of his antenna brushing his arm tickling him. This gained
a his from Buck. "What? He seems like a nice enough guy and it never hurt any one to be
nice to people." he said turning the Buck following behind as the wen't inside.
^_^_^_^_^_^
Alda was starting to feel his age, he was in better shape than most people of his age but
then again he hadn't had to live with all the same problems that a average person had on
Earth. Working for the RDA had benefited him in that regard. He had been working for
almost twenty four hours straight now, firstly convincing capt. Smith that his Psionic Link
Transfer System would not hurt the ship in any way. Then secondly rummaging through
finding all the shipping containers finding the parts, but his time was paying off it was
almost ready.

The whole thing was a mesh of wires and computer components. All of which lead to a
center device. In the center of every thing was a glass cylinder that stood about 4ft high
and about 3ft across. It was not the cylinder that looked so very out of place here it was the
object inside of the cylinder. Most onlookers would not thing much of the planet inside the
glass but, for someone who knew any thing about Pandora it would be quite noticeable and
it was. When Kaoko came in to let him know the Avatar was ready she almost screamed as
she pressed her face to the small willow tree growing inside.
She forgot the reason she even came to see him, focusing only on the tree. Her face was a
mesh of excitement and horror, excitement for what she was seeing and horror for the
same reason. She said more than a few choice words to him, all along the line of; "Do you
know what that is?", "How could you desiccate something so sacred to an entire race of
people and finally", and his favorite. "When this is over I am going to take a better look,
and maybe a few samples to make sure you didn't harm it." He couldn't help but chuckle at
here.
After all this was a child of the Tree of Souls, the tree that most of the scientist in the AVTR
program would have given up there life to get close to and this man had it here right in
front of her. Kaoko had read everything she could about it, but would have never dreamed
that she would get to it. If that was the case then this small sapling was the next best thing.
They had set the system up in his and Suvi's room it was one of the gyro areas of the ship
meaning it had some gravity. Dr. Alda moved about the room checking ever thing, the
avatar's queue was in place at the base of the small willow, the glass cylinder that covered
it removed. Its branches seemed to glow slightly with the glass gone. The aged doctor
stepped back looking over his work. He withe the help of Kaoko and two of the crew had
used a few of the bed blanket to lay the avatar body on the floor, and did the same for
where Suvi would lay.
The aged doctor stepped back at last after placing a few more of his needle like instruments
into the potted base of the plant. He looked down and releasing a deep breath he didn't
know he was holing. He looked to Kaoko who just seemed to be marveling at what she was
watching, and not doubt holding back her want to get a better look at that sapling. He
walked over to were Suvi lay in her bed and lifted her from it. The small body was so light,
so fragile. He picked her up bridal style looking down at the girl, there was no real
expression on her face, just open eyes like she was a doll not movement.
Had she been any one else she would not have had the chance to walk again, to live again.
He walked over to the tree again laying the tinny girl on the pallet he a Kaoko had made for
her, placing her head at the base of the tree just as he had the avatar. Just remember
Ramir this might not work, she maybe to far gone, so don't get your hopes up. He pushed
the thought from his mind, it had to work. He silently prayed it would.
"Ok thats it." He announced. He sat down at the console and began to type buttons on the
key board and Kaoko and Smith both noticed the tree seemed to glow,or rather pulse. "Just
remember Kaoko, as soon as she wakes up I want her sedated her, I'm not sure this is the
best place for a teenage Na'Vi to be running around." He hated having to put her back to
sleep but, Smith insisted. He could not afford to have that thing running wild for another
year. So they decided that assuming the transfer was successful they would put her into
the larger cryo-sleep system that had been used to transport some local animals back from
Pandora on the Atlantis's last trip.
It wasn't what he wanted to do, but it was Smiths ship and it was his way or the highway. If
it worked out ok it would be fine, one more year wouldn't hurt. Everything was looking good

so far, the pulsing of the tree became faster and all the onlookers were stunned as small
root began to grow from the bas roots of the small plant. They began engulfing the two
body's they lay near it and they to were pulsing with light. Kaoko was amassed at what she
saw, no it truly took her breath away. There was nothing to describe it.
"Almost there, just about done." he said as the show became fast finally slowing down to a
steady pace, then the pulsing of the light grew dimmer, slower. It wasn't working...

It was the blur again, just a big brown blur. She didn't care any more what did it matter,
she wanted to cry, but tears never came. Then every thing seemed to change, the images
in front of her started moving. They finally stop when when the brown blur moved away
from her and there seemed to be something in front of her that was glowing white.
The glow got brighter and brighter, it was finally happening someone had heard her silent
prayers. The light became so bright at one pint it hurt and finally it exploded into a
technicolor rainbow that engulfed her whole world. Then she was pulled from her usual view
so hard it hurt, it was like someone had taken her hands and yanked her to her feet, but
she keep going faster, the colors all blurring into each other. The whole world was going
white, and for a moment she almost thought she heard singing, though just as it came it
was gone and her world went completely dark and quite...
^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^
The day had started off pretty well, after Sully left yesterday Adam decided to contact
Hell Gate, just to let Max know he was still alive. He felt it would have been rude not to.
When he first got him on the video link up he could tell he must have been working a lot
lately, he had a five'o clock shadow like he had never seen. It had been over a month or
two since he had talked to him. He had just called in to check in, but the conversation had
turned to other thing and the two started talking to pass the time.
It seems that most of the avatar team didn't spend much time there now, choosing to do
more in there avatars. Made since that could go outside and experience the world around
them better more than they could I there human body's. Adam thought about it and that
was what he found that bothered him, while it would be nice to have an avatar to go out in,
it was like cheating life. You were always in a safety net, if something happened to your
avatar you were still fine in the safety of the lab. He may not like the place, but he
respected it and had learned to live in it and not as an avatar.
He and Max talked for a few hours just about one thing then another, later in the
conversation Norm came in, he had been in his avatar and was about to go to bed for the
night when he stopped by and he to joined in the conversation a bit. The two go very
strange looks on there faced when Buck's head came into the picture, Norm actually
screamed a little. Making Adam laugh, they had for gotten about the viperwolf. It was all in
all a good little chat.
After Norm left he and Max talked a bit longer and had a few games of chess. Max was a bit
surprised that Adam was good at the game, he didn't seem the chess type. Adam told him
later after the 4th straight win, that he had a lot of time on his hands as a kid and not to
many people around so he had taken to playing chess with him self. He left out the part
about being in the hospital all the time, but it didn't matter. Finally the two ended the game
and Max was about to head off to get some sleep, a good idea Adam to needed to get some
sleep, he had to be up early tomorrow.

Max told him he should come Hells Gate more, for a few days it nothing else, just to see
some people and catch up with everyone. Well, really get to know everyone, he assured him
that Jake wouldn't mind coming to get him. That way he wouldn't have to make the trek on
foot. He said he would think about it, promising to talk to him later, the two could have a
rematch tomorrow night maybe he said.
The next day he and Buck had gone out early that morning on a hunt. They were running
low on supplies and man, and viperwolf could not live on bread alone. Things went well the
two found a few hexapede grazing in a small clearing. Adam braced him self preparing for
the shot. The one down side of hunting was that he had to be very careful of what he
hunted, and once the kill was made he had to work fast to carve up the pray. It wouldn't
take long for another predator, much larger than him, to smell the blood from the injured
animal and come to investigate.
He had gotten it down to a fine art int eh past 5 year he had to hunt for survival. It wasn't
that he enjoyed killing, but there was something exhilarating about a hunt. It really got
your blood pumping. Adam lined up the shot, his breathing slowed as he centering him self.
Wait for it. He thought to him self. Just wait till it presents it self to you. His finger pressing
softly against the trigger.
"When the shot goes off it should almost scare you." The words his father told him ringing
in the back of his mind.
It happened, just as he fired the shot, Buck let out a very loud yelp which in turn startled
Adam. Making him first jerk cosing his shot to fly higher than expected and then making
him blurt out a curse or two and realize that the shot hit the target, but it was not a killing
blow. The arrow hit the hexapede just above the heart, and the animal was not running off
into the wild. No doubt to die a very slow and painful death. With out thinking Adam took off
after the beast, he could hear Buck just behind him.
There was no way he could really catch it, but if he had a good idea of its direction he might
be able to get to it before any thing else. The two bounded through the forest for a good
minuet, and in retro spec Adam had broken one of his cardinal rules for living on Pandora.
He wasn't being more careful of his surrounding. As he and Buck gave chase they had
jumped onto a downed tree and without even missing a beat jumped over, but his feet did
not land on the ground.
The next thing Adam knew was the sensation of falling, he had enough time to see the
animal in fount of him slowing down as he leaped over the tree but his feet never hit the
ground. Instead he fell through the ground into a hole of a cave he might have guessed had
he had time to really thing about it. Terror griped Adam as he fell into darkness, tossing as
he did so, he had just enough time to grin. His last thought, that it was funny, it wasn't
Pandora that was going to kill him. It was him not looking before he leaped.
He fell for a few seconds before his shoulder came into contact with what felt like rock, as a
reflex he yelled out in pain. Then he felt small swishing hitting him as he dell to his death.
As his body turned he was able to see the whole he fell from, Bucks head piking just over
the lip of the hole, then came the hard thud, followed swiftly by a sharp pain that washed
over him. The pain only lasted for moment and the world he knew wen't black.
^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^

She awoke as if startled, her body springing to life, he eyes darting around franticly. She
could head her quick gasp of air, and the slight shriek she made. She finally hung her head
in relief.
"It was just a dream she said to now on in particular." she said opening her eyes, the
realization that she had just spoken, she hadn't heard her own voice in so long. Then yet
another realization hit her the contrast of the green plant life on the ground and what
seemed to be elegant long blue legs. Then she noted the torso they belonged to. Then she
began to examine her hand they were also blue it was her. She stood up looking her self
over bewildered, was this really her, what was she. "Wait." she thought, "who was she?"
The questions she had were lost as she started to come to terms that this was her point
blank, who ever and what ever she was, something about this did seem out of place. Her
mind was running a mile a minuet as she started to look around at the grass land in front
her stood a tree it look like a willow she thought, though she wasn't' sure why she knew
that. She started making her way that as it seemed to be the only thing she could see.
The feel of the grass on her bare feet felt so good, eventually her walk became a full on run.
The grin on her face shining as she did, she jumped a few times, but tripped her self up
tumbling a few feet from the tree. She laughed at her self as she regained her upright
position, she wasn't sure why she felt so good. It was like everything just seemed so good
here, where ever here was. She again let out a giggle, smiling brighter each time she did.
She was pulled from her joyous moment when she heard a voice.
"I expected a little more out of Heaven." Adam said, rising from what felt to him like a good
nap. Above him was what looked like a larger tree, a willow, kinda like that one that Dr.
Augustine always went on about. He heard a gasp from behind him, he stood up quickly,
surprised to find a female Na'Vi, she looked like she was maybe in her teens. At least the
human equivalent.
"Hmm, I didn't think there would be Na'Vi in heaven." he tilted his head to the side.
"Though how am I to question."
The girl stared at Adam for like she was trying to look through him. He was so small
compared to her and he didn't have blue skin. The two looked at each other over and for
Adam it as the first moment he noted to him self that he was naked. He looked down then
back up grinning, he let out a slight chuckle.
"Sorry" he said with a big grinn. "Wasn't my idea to greet any one in my birthday suite." he
said joking. It didn't seem to bother her that he was naked or that she was also. She was
Na'Vi though so he didn't think to much of it. It was about this time that her face burst into
a smile. She swiftly went from bewildered to out right giddy, stepping closer to Adam, she
was only about two foot taller than him, but that still made him seem very small. The
female Na'Vi knelt down, to him as he took to covering his more manly parts, as she smiled
and spoke to him.
The next thing Adam knew the girl had him pulled into a death grip hug. He really didn't
know what to do, if this was heaven. This, he decided was not heaven, other wise he didn't
think this girl would have any reason to be crying. She began to sob, why was she crying
and on his shoulder not less.
"Your real. Not a dream." She said shaking her head. "No more nightmares, please tell me
this is real, that this isn't a dream." At least she could speak English he thought. He knew a
little Na'Vi, he loved to read and the RDA computer system had a rather extensive library.

The girl keep crying, and Adam swallowing his pride put a hand on her back speaking softly
trying to ease what ever pain she was suffering from.
"Calm down now little girl, every things ok now.." he said in his most gentle tone he knew.
"Everything is going to be fine." He wasn't sure what to say, what to do. He didn't even
know were he was, if he was dead or alive, but right now none of that mattered to him. This
young girl seemed so sad, she didn't care who it was that soothed that fear that pain. It was
something so simple just holding her as she cried. Slowly she could feel her body getting
heavy and he lay her down on the ground under the willow, its branches lightly glowing as
the sun of this world started to dip below the horison.
"Please don't let me fall asleep." She pleaded, terror in her blue eyes a feature about her he
had not noticed till now. Her body betraying her, he eyes becoming heavy. Adam couldn't
think of any thing to do, so he said the only thing he could.
"It'll be fine, Ill be right there when you wake up." his smile reassuring her.
"What if I don't?" she said so quietly he could hardly heard her.
"You will, En'Nari." he whispered. It was the first thing that popped into his head, after
looking at up close, Blue Eyes. En'Nari lay there under the small willow sleeping soundly,
while Adam was sitting up wondering what the hell just happened. The last thing he
remembered was he and Buck were running after a hexapede, that thanks to Buck he had
shot but missed his mark. He looked over at a peacefully sleeping En'Nari. The the next
thing he knows he wakes up here in the Elysium fields, with this Na'vi running to him and
hugging him like he her long lost friend.
Well I'm not dead, he finally decided. Leaning back on the grass with his hands behind his
head, Adam didn't know what to think. He stared up at the tree, its slender branches
hovering over his head lightly glowing.
"I don't guess you know whats going on here?" He said remarking to the tree, he didn't
really expect an answer, he knew the Na'Vi could talk to them or something like that. If
nothing else it was nice here the thought just laying back and enjoying the feeling of the
grass under him.
It was a very calming here, it was just so peaceful, if this was eternity it wasn't to bad he
decided. Just as he was making his peace though something happened, every thing went
dark and the pain set in. It was like flipping a light switch, first the world wen't dark then
second there was a sharp pain. Then the light returned slowly piking in from above him, it
looked like an eclipse, it was the large hole he fell in was the sun and there was another
rock looking object floating past it, acting like a moon.
As the moon gave way the realization of what Adam was see sunk in. It was a bolder a big
bolder the size of a RDA Swan floating in the air, Then he noticed a few more there must
have been Unobtanium in here. He would have looked around more but, his eyes went wide
as another sharp pain raked through his back. His vision blurred and for a second time
everything wen't dark.
