Ergo Proxy is one of those (many) anime which has a fabulous opening chapter that muddles into crapness within a few episodes. And its really a shame, because as a mystery it offers a really fantastic visual fabric. A city, robots praying, hunter teams killing robots gone wild (totally stolen from Blade Runner), the lead singer from Evanescence with a shotgun, explosions, monsters with claws. You want to know what it is about. You want to see. And it lets you down. Watch a few episodes, see the amazing ideas, and understand that the story goes to a boring place.
