Crossover With Non-anime Series Fan Fiction ❯ Terdwilicker's Anime Reviews ❯ Chainsaw Man ( Chapter 34 )
Chainsaw man is a mess. You can see that Meth remains a problem for Japanese creators, and this is one of those fuelled by it. It is frantic, not particularly funny, and pulls a bait and switch on the audience for shock value, which ironically wrecks further drama because the audience no longer trusts the plot with characters it is probably just going to murder sooner or later. It is not the first anime to do this kind of thing. Robotics;Notes and Sword Art Online are also guilty of abusing the viewer's trust to their own detriment, and you end up wondering why this is popular. In the end, it is a flashing slasher story that takes place in bright sunlight rather than murky darkness. Is it especially different from Bleach? Well, Bleach did it better. And was every bit as fashionable in its day. And Bleach murdered fewer of its characters to get emotional impact.
I don't recommend viewing Chainsaw Man. It isn't as good as people think and its not that original either.
