CSI and I
Chapter 2:Will of the Wind
Gil Grissom smiled as he led the newest member of his team to the break room where everyone was gathering. He almost couldn't wait to see the reactions Jessie would pull out without even trying. She was smart, empathic in the extreme and would have the guys falling over themselves to make her feel at ease. It certainly didn't hurt that she looked like a college kid in her freshman year even tho she was 35 years old. He could hardly wait til shift was over so he could get the scoop on just HOW she had gotten involved in police work much less CSI and what in the world she was doing here in Las Vegas! He looked over at her and smiled at her as she glanced his way and giggled. He quirked an eyebrow at her and she answers the silent question, "I was wondering how long it'll take before I get the gory life stories thrown my way, You know it's gonna happen. It always does!"
Gil laughed and teased "Probably about 10 min once someone gets you to talk to them, to be honest I am wondering how long it'll be before you actually do more than wave Hi in that shy little way you have! I always have to laugh when I see that. Oh I should warn you, they think I'm weird here." She looked over and growled at him, "Did you scare them off already! Oh I can see you and I are going to have a few conversations later!"
"No hun, Honest I didn't do it this time! You know how bad I am with the living. They just accept that I don't do so good with people is all."
"Now that is a crock of shit if I EVER heard one! You do just fine with the living, it's the bigiots and assholes you have a problem with!"
"Ahem" A deep voice coughed a little behind us to let us know that someone was there, "And where do I stand in that grouping?" The voice sounded amused and both Gil and Jessie turned to see who was speaking. Jessie looked at the older man and decided to play a bit,
"Asshole of course!" She stated brightly to Gil's laughter and the other mans chagrin.
Still chuckling Gil said, "Jessie, Meet Captain Jim Brass of the Las Vegas Police Department and one of my oldest friends here. Jim I'd like you to meet Jessica Gilbert, one of my best friends ever, and sort of adopted family as well." Jessie wached in amusement as Jims jaw dropped open and stayed that way. She chuckled and looked up at Gil as she said impishly, "I think we broke him, Uncle Gil. Think we can do that to the rest of them?" He looked down at her and just laughed.
