Chapter Seven: Choices
Wednesday
There… The source of it all was centered up ahead. The taiyoukai hastened his steps. He would get to the bottom of this; there was no doubt of that. That's when he caught the scent of whoever was ahead in the field; it was a human. This enraged the demon lord. No human would walk on his lands without his permission. A low growl emitted from the back of his throat.
“What is it, my lord,” the toad to his side asked.
He ignored his vassal and continued past the forest. His amber eyes fell onto cold emotionless sapphire. It was merely a boy. The taiyoukai inwardly frowned. Who was this human boy to trespass on his lands? This child was not alone either. Upon his head sat an odd looking pale violet bird. However, he sensed three auras, not two. Where was the third coming from, the boy? This confused the lord, but it did not show on his face. Instead, he asked, “Human, why do you trespass on my land?”
The blue-haired child didn't show any sign of fear. “I was unaware that I had to answer to you for that… My reasons are my own.”
This time his growl was heard by the other. “This Sesshomaru will not ask again, human.”
The little girl as his other side frowned. “Please tell Sesshomaru-sama. He is being very nice by asking!”
“Rin,” Sesshomaru growled.
One sapphire eyebrow arose. “It does not concern him. I just ended up here. It's not like I planned it. If you should blame anyone, it would be the thing on my head.”
“Hikari-sama!” it chirped. “I told you that I could only control when I put us, not where!”
“Enough,” the taiyoukai barked, feeling agitated. “Remove yourself from my lands, human.”
The boy just stood there, as if to ignore him. Instead he turned his back Sesshomaru and started to talk to the pigeon on his head. That was it. Sesshomaru was at his limit. Unsheathing Tokijin, with his speed he stood in front of the boy again, the blade coming close to his throat; he wanted to chide the human for his disrespect. “You would dare ignore this Sesshomaru human?”
His eyes were hidden beneath sapphire locks, no response what evident. The taiyoukai growled louder, eyes beginning to glow crimson. Before he could say another word, the kid raised his head. Those eyes were no longer that gem color, but a glistening cat-like gold. “Remove that blade, youkai. I'd hate to have my tamer's blood stain such a lovely weapon.”
“What are you?”
“That would be a very good question,” the teen scoffed, “one that I will refrain from answering. This is your last chance. Remove it from my host.”

Dark lifted his head as the three met the campsite. He narrowed his eyes for a moment. Crazy as it sounded, it almost felt like Krad wasn't too far away. The kaitou shrugged it off. It was impossible that his other was here as well. Krad would have an interesting time in this era. Dark shuddered at the thought of the fallen angel and all the destruction he would inevitably cause. He didn't want to face him in his current condition. The violet haired teen was already having second thoughts on his conversation with the evil hanyou. Would he really keep his world? Dark was doubtful. However, could he really be all right with his choice to take the jewel and just simply hand it over? With his heart being so indecisive, he wouldn't strong enough to fight the blonde.
“Are you alright, Dark-san?” Shippo asked cautiously. “You look a little pale.”
He jerked his head up and looked at the young youkai with a slight smile. “Yeah… I'm cool. Don't worry about me, kiddo. Let's get going though.”
Inuyasha frowned. “I say when we go, igit.”
“Then by all means, mutt face, go ahead and tell us how soon to leave,” Dark visibly twitched. Maybe Naraku has got the right idea about this guy…
“Let's go,” the hanyou said, marching past the rest of the tachi.
Kagome rolled her eyes and apologized to dark. She claimed that it was pride and nothing else. Inuyasha growled and began to argue with the girl. Realizing that they weren't going anywhere for a while due to Kagome's anger and Iunyasha's stubbornness, Sango, Mirokou, and Dark sat down and began talking. Mirokou looked at the kaitou with his all-knowing smile. “You must be relieved that Dai-chan is unharmed.”
“Don't call him that…” he hissed at the monk.
“Someone's touchy,” Sango replied. “And where are you going to be putting that hand of yours, you pervert?”
Mirokou decided to withdraw his hand. He coughed and turned his attention back to the kaitou. “I thought that was his choice?”
Dark smirked. “That was then. This is now.”
“I see…”
The other girl smiled. “Does he know, Dark-san?”
“Wh-what are you talking about? It's nothing like that!” he said taken aback, a blush threatening his face.
“Hmmm?” the demon hunter replied, confused, and then blushed herself. “I didn't mean it like you thought I did! I only meant if he knew how protective you are of him…”
“Well... Yeah, I guess. I mean, Emiko would really kill me if anything were to actually happen to the kid. So I always am protective; my life depend on it.”
“But why the blush, Dark-san?” the monk inquired.
“You're seeing things…” Dark muttered, standing up abruptly, hearing the loud crashing of Inuyasha's face to the ground. “We're going to be leaving…”
His other two companions only laughed. Kagome looked their way and told them it was time to go, leaving the hanyou in the ground. Stepping over the heap of red, Dark went to catch up with the teenage girl. Sango and Mirokou followed after a few seconds. Inuyasha growled as he picked himself up, brushing the dirt off of his face and clothing. Shippo whistled happily on his adopted mother's shoulder. The kaitou smiled sadly. Betrayal really wasn't his thing. These guys really didn't deserve that, but what about Daisuke? He couldn't just forget about him. I don't know what to do… Help me Daisuke…

Krad! Satoshi hissed. What do you think you are doing!?
`Saving your life Satoshi-sama,' the angel replied to the boy mentally. “After all, dogs should be properly trained.”
The demon lord growled at the comment. He pulled away, feeling the surge of magical energy as Krad forced his transformation. Sesshomaru's eyes widened slightly as the Hikari screamed, two great white wings bursting from the boy's flesh. His hair grew longer, gradually changing from its blue hue to a blonde. Even the kid grew several inches. The demon lord was now standing face to face with a psychotic white-winged angel. He pulled out one single feather, raising it above his head. “Now… Where were we?”
Stop it! We need to find Niwa!
“I will not stop this time, Satoshi-sama. You have kept me locked up for far too long. Now sit back and enjoy yourself.”
Krad threw the feather at Sesshomaru. The great inu youkai dodged it without too much of a thought, thinking the thing was harmless. Krad smirked as his opponent hissed in pain upon the aftershock of his attack. Sesshomaru growled and leapt forward, Tokijin pointed out. With a flap of his wings, Krad took to the air, confident that the demon would not be able to reach him from the height.
With his mask still in place, Sesshomaru summoned lightning from the blade and threw it at Krad. It was a direct hit into the stomach. The fallen angel launched another barrage of feathers at the taiyoukai. Sesshomaru was not quick enough to evade every feather and its aftershock, his clothing burning off and counting two severe dents in his armor. Krad held his wound slightly before using his energy to heal.
The two fought on. Krad used his feathers and spells. Sometime the demon would dodge and counter and the every now and then he'd land an attack. Sesshomaru, on the other hand, was getting slightly frustrated. Since the demon in white feathers saw Tokijin's power, he was keeping to the air, where he could evade and maneuver much easier than he on the ground. He silently cursed Inuyasha for taking his left arm. Sesshomaru did notice, however, that Krad was loosing momentum. That, to him, was a very good sign. He smirked slightly at his new-found hope, not that he would ever admit to that.
Krad knew that Satoshi couldn't handle this intensity for too long, but he'd be damned if he wasn't going to have some fun while he had the opportunity to. Niwa be damned as well. They had as long as they needed to find the little red-head and it was his turn to play! All that his tamer ever wants is that teenager and Krad had been very compliant. Should he not be able to be rewarded for that? All he asked for was to just kill one time. That's not asking too much, is it?
Apparently it was, since the boy kept protesting. He felt the tamer's body growing weary and it wouldn't be too long now before the fallen angel would have to give up his freedom. Krad landed and Sesshomaru glared at the so-called angel.
“Somewhat impressive,” Sesshomaru mused. It had been awhile since the demon lord had somewhat of a challenge.
“That actually hurt,” Krad smirked, deciding to land. “How about you actually stop holding back, hmmm?”
“Very well…” the taiyoukai growled, putting away Tokijin and clicked two of his claws that began to glow green.
I mean it Krad… Satoshi whispered.
`It's almost over, Satoshi-sama. I know that you cannot hold on for much longer.'
I will not… I will NOT LET YOU OVERSHADOW ME!

Sesshomaru flicked his wrist, revealing his poison whip. With another motion, he aimed for the fallen angel. Krad took this moment to hurtle himself forward. He let out a yell as the whip came down, slicing off one of his wings. The sacrifice had to be made; he knew that as his own hand grasped onto the lord's neck. Sesshomaru let out a growl of frustration. He was about to just ram his right arm through the thing's gut when he caught the sight of blue eyes trying to peer out from the blonde strands. “I will not let you do this, Krad… We need to find… Niwa!”
Those eyes turned gold again. “I will not allow you to have control this time, Satoshi-sama…”
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes inwardly. It wasn't going to be worth it to kill this one. Obviously the human was mentally disturbed with this inner demon. He also sighed, but not inwardly. Those golden eyes grew fierce. “What are you sighing at?”
“You are not worth this Sesshomaru's time to kill,” the taiyoukai frowned; he took the angel's hesitation to simply, but effectively, punch him in the stomach.
He growled slightly as the boy transformed back into his original state and landed into him. This boy would be just as trouble some as Rin was in the beginning. However, he knew that his curiosity was going to get the better of him, as it always did. Sesshomaru wanted to know why this boy had two forms and Sesshomaru always got answers. He looked in the direction of the bird, but what he saw instead was a girl with silver hair and great big green eyes. “Where is that bird?”
“I, um, am the `bird,' sorry,” she chirped. “Please don't hurt Hikari-sama! He can't help it when Krad takes control!”
Sesshomaru motioned for Jaken. The toad ran up to his master. “What is it you require, my lord?”
“Go get Ah-un and take Rin.”
“Right away, Sesshomaru-sama!” Jaken said, running off and yelling at the girl to follow. The taiyoukai turned his attention to the other girl.
“You are not human…” he stated.
She shook her head. “I am an artwork called the Guide of Eternity. I was made by the Hikari family, but I prefer to be called Towa-chan.”
Sesshomaru sniffed. He believed that the girl spoke nonsense. Artwork? She was moving on her own and talking. No simple statue could do such a thing. He would ask this boy later. “This Sesshomaru will not harm the boy. You have my word. However, should he attack this Sesshomaru again…”
“Understandable!” Towa smiled nervously.
“Now this Sesshomaru will ask again, why do you trespass on my lands?”
“We are looking for someone.”
The taiyuokau's raised eyebrow told the girl to continue. “We are not from this time. We're actually from five hundred years in the future.”
“How is this so?”
“The Tree of Ages, you see, it pulled Hikari-sama's friend from our time into this one. I am the Guide of Eternity, so I do have the power to find anything. He requested that I find a way to bring him here so he may find Daisuke.”
Sesshomaru frowned. This made no sense to him. However, he could not deny the possibility. The boy's clothing were not from here, neither were the girl's. He's scent was mingled of many things foreign to his inu senses. A growl was heard and Sesshomaru glanced in the direction of Jaken bringing Ah-un to them.
He placed the boy onto the dragon and turned to Rin. She smiled at him and inwardly the taiyoukai smiled back. The girl lookd at the boy. “Will he be okay, Sesshomaru-sama?”
“Yes, Rin,” he replied, glancing at Towa. She shifted her feet uncomfortably under his gaze.
Rin ran up to her. “He means you can come too! What's your name?”
“Aren't you cute!?” Towa beamed. “You can call me Towa-chan!”
“Okay, Towa-chan! C'mon! We don't want to get left behind!”
He decided he had better ask this question now. “How is it that you came to know of what era this other human fell into?”
“A girl named Kagome…” the blunette wheezed, having already gained partially consciousness.
“Kagome-neesan?” Rin asked, almost excited. “She travels with your brother, doesn't she, Sesshomaru-sama?”
Sesshomaru mentally sighed. If that were the case, then it would be better for him to just dump these two with his half-brother and get them out of his lands. However, Inuyasha would be just another headache within itself. Either way, he was bound to have a horrible day. It would get better once he reached his half-brother's tachi. However, he caught the scent of someone that made him cringe. The gods, he decided, must be against him today... For now he would ignore their spectator, for a while. He just needed to get these stangers out before his inner inu craved their blood. “Come.”

Daisuke yawned. It had been a long time since Kagura had brought him food. He was very grateful that the witch did, even of she was ordered to. The red-head has been searching for a way out, but there were no locks he could pick. This barrier that Naraku had set up was well made. He didn't know how to break it and he was sure that Kagura wouldn't help him either. “I'll just have to wait on Dark and everybody else…”
“Giving up so soon?” a bass voice chuckled.
“N-naraku!” he squeaked, whipping his head around to the evil hanyou.
“You know who I am then?” Naraku stated more than asked, stepping into the room. “Then perhaps I should know yours so we can properly be indroduced?”
“I don't think so. I bet you know it already,” Dai frowned. He felt very uncomfortable with those red eyes looking at him.
“True… but I thought it would be easier this way since you will be here for a long time.”
“No way!” the tamer shouted, standing up to face Naraku. “Even if I can't get out, Dark won't let me stay here!”
The hanyou smiled. “Of course not. After all, he made such an attempt to get you back from me…”
Dai's eyes widened. “What do you mean by that!? He tried!”
“By trying, do you mean sitting there demanding that I release you? Heh heh… Then, yes, he did try.”
“You're lying!”
“Don't believe me? I wouldn't believe me if I were you either. Such a shame,” he took the boy's chin with his thumb and finger. “I could make much better use of you.”
Daisuke pulled away. “What do you want with me?”
Naraku just chuckled again. “I only want to open your eyes to the truth. Nothing more, nothing less. That kaitou does not care for you, only himself.”
“Stop it!” the red-head growled. “You don't even know Dark like I do. I know that he does care about me!”
Naraku looked over his shoulder. “Kanna? Come and show Dai-chan what you have seen in your mirror.”
A girl with long white hair and wearing a matching yukata strode into the room. Was it geared so that only someone like Naraku was allowed to enter and exit? She was cute, but her eyes were black and soulless. Kanna held a sliver mirror in her hands and looked right at Daisuke. Naraku smiled. “This mirror only shows the truth, Dai-chan. It enabled me to find you and your dilemma with the kaitou. Kanna.”
The girl's mirror began to blur and showed the Inu-tachi. All of them were laughing and walking along a trail. Where? He didn't know and doubted if they knew as well. Dark was also laughing, a calm smug look on was on his face as always. Was what Naraku saying true? No… I know better than that…
“Dai-chan…” Naraku said in a soothing voice, “Don't you see? They aren't even worried about you.”
“L-liar…” Daisuke whispered, his thoughts already wavering. He was already beginning to have doubts in his heart. “You're lying…”
“Am I? Kanna, would you show him what the kaitou said earlier with the monk and demon slayer?”
“Yes… Naraku…” she said monotonously, as another image began to come into focus.
There sat Mirokou, Sango, and Dark. It had been a few hours ago, judging by the sun, but there was no mistake about it. Inuyasha, Kagome, and Shippo were arguing in the distance. The conversation was about him…
“You must be relieved that Dai-chan is unharmed.”
It's nothing like that!” he said.
“Hmmm?” the demon hunter replied.
“You're seeing things…” Dark muttered.
The mirror faded to black. Daisuke felt as if he had been slapped. Dark was more worried about how his mother would deal with it than him? There wasn't anything more between them than the kaitou being his protector? Since when did he even ask for his help anyway? He looked away… Dai knew that he was vulnerable and easily injured. He also knew that Dark was always saving and protecting him. The red-head suddenly hated it all. Dark was always looking down and saying mean things to him too. I can't turn to this guy… He's evil, isn't he?
Naraku watched him and Daisuke knew it. The hanyou spoke into the boy's ear. “I could offer you so much more than they, Dai-chan. Look at them. They were no worried about you at all. In fact, they slept the very night I took you and quite soundly I might add. I even gave your precious kaitou a way to get you back and he hasn't even taken the opportunity. If he truly cared, do you not think he'd do whatever it takes to get you back?”
Daisuke felt hot tears threatening to come out. He didn't know what to believe, so he just shouted. “Go away! Get away from me!”
The hanyou backed off and walked to the door. He smiled at the boy. “Take some time to think it over, Dai-chan. Should you desire to talk, all you need to do is call for me. I will be there any time you need.”
He walked out, the girl walking behind him, leaving Daisuke alone yet again. However, this time the red-headed teen needed it. He needed to sort out his thoughts for the second time this week. Dai was hurt and confused. Everything that the hanyou had showed him only seemed to prove what his words said. Yet, his heart didn't want to hear it. His heart was breaking and wanted to cling onto the memory of the previous night. Those tears finally began to fall…

Naraku smiled evilly to himself as he walked back to his own quarters. Soon, very soon he would get want he wanted. Even if the boy failed to see… It didn't matter in the end. The hanyou was very confident that Daisuke Niwa would indeed come to him. It was all a matter of time. He chuckled and continued down the empty hallways. “You will work out just fine, Dai-chan. Do not fear…”
