Morning had Ario humming happily as she breezed into the kitchen, where Daisuke was having coffee. “Good morning. “ He said snapping his paper. Ario giggled and nodded in his direction. “Uh huh…” She said, humming softly as she poured herself a glass of orange juice. Daisuke blinked all confused like and pointed as Satoshi came into the room. “Are you seeing this?”
Satoshi gazed at his daughter and smiled a little as she flounced around the room. “Ario?” he asked softly, handing her book bag to her. Ario giggled again and took the bag once her juice was done. “Ohayo, Tou-san!” She said cheerfully and kissed his cheek. Satoshi blinked and looked back at Daisuke, and he just shrugged.
After Ario had left for school, early so she could walk with Emily and Kiyoshi. Dark emerged from his sleepy cocoon. “Ario leave yet?” Daisuke nodded and Satoshi gave him a look. “Do you have anything to do with Ario's good mood, Dark Mousy?” Dark blinked, and red tinted his cheeks, “I….uh…” Satoshi gave him the commander look of death and Dark caved. “Our date went well last night.” He replied, grabbing himself a piece of toast. Satoshi snorted and was not convinced. “Did you at least use protection?” A loud cough sounded from near the toaster and Daisuke held back a snicker as Dark almost choked on his toast. Satoshi didn't give Dark time to answer once he had finished choking before he grabbed a chunk of Dark's hair, pulled him down until they were eye to eye and spoke again. “If you get Ario pregnant, I'll release Krad and he will GLADLY remove your ability to ever make love again, do I make myself clear, Kaitou Dark?” Dark made a small noise and Satoshi released his hair. “Good…now go to school.”
Dark grabbed his own bag and was out the door in a flash. Daisuke blinked at Satoshi and finally let out his laughter, “Did you see his face Sato? It was hilarious!” Satoshi grinned and picked up his freshly filled coffee cup. “I'm just being a good father it's the least I can do…” Daisuke nodded, “I know, but I don't think I've ever seen Dark that afraid. Satoshi took a sip of his coffee, “Hell hath no fury like a Daddy's warning,” was his only reply. He sipped his coffee, going silent once again.
Yuki frowned and poked at her shoulder again, “What is with you today, you've been Tooootaly spacey!” Ario blinked out of her trance and sighed softly, “Do I look any different?” Yuki blinked, “Huh? Different?” She shook her head and the disapproving stare returned. “Why do you ask…”She paused suddenly, “Oh….my god…you didn't…with…did you?” Ario sunk lower in her chair and glared at her best friend. “Say it a little louder why don't you, I don't think the whole school heard.” Yuki snickered and leaned in a little closer. “So that's what the earthquake was from last night, Dark's exploding ego.” Ario shook her head and poked Yuki in the arm, grinning a little, she was the only one in her group of friends that knew the family history and she had promised to take the secret to her grave.
Pulling Ario to a quiet booth in the lunch room, she stood in front of her and crossed her arms over her chest. “Alright woman, spill. How was he? Is he big? Was it romantic?” Ario flailed a little and dropped her voice to an almost whisper. “He was amazing, and that's all I'm telling you and keep your voice down!” Yuki groaned and pouted at her, “Aw, come on! I wanna hear all the intimate details, we're best friends, were supposed to tell each other everything!” Ario sighed and rolled her eyes at her best friend's pout. “Fine, well…” She said, moving over so Yuki could sit beside her. “It was totally stellar, I don't know how else to explain it, it didn't hurt though.” She said, leaning her head against the booth. “And he was real sweet too.” She finished, stretching slightly.
Yuki smiled and nodded, “Sounds like it was amazing evening.” She said, getting up from the booth. “You're so lucky!”
Yuki looked towards the clock. ”I gotta run though, I've got a date with some books in the library.” Ario nodded and slipped from the booth, waving as she saw Dark slide into the cafeteria. “Okay, I'll see you in class Yuki-chan.” They hugged and Yuki left, leaving Ario standing in front of the booth, lost in her own thoughts.
“You know, it pains me to see you looking so sad.”
Ario jumped a little and wrapped her arms around Dark once she turned around. “Sorry, I just kind of spaced out.” Dark kissed her cheek and rested his cheek on the top of her head, his arms going around her tightly.
“I got the third degree from Satoshi this morning.” He said, kissing the top of he head. Ario sighed and shook her head, a look of annoyance on her face. “Really?”
Dark shrugged, it's not a big deal, he just doesn't want you pregnant, and I'm not that stupid.” Ario nodded, running her finger along his arm. “I'm sorry, but you know how he is, ever since mum died trying to have my little sister, Dad's been massively over protective.” Dark nodded. He would never forget the night Risa died, Ario was 15 and Risa and Satoshi were trying to have another baby. The baby made it to term, but there were complications with the birth. The bleeding from the miscarriage at the last second was too much; neither mother nor child, were strong enough to get through it. It wasn't long afterwards that Satoshi decided to move out of Azumano and move on. He didn't want a repeat of 3 years ago, especially with his daughter and Dark understood.
Ario snuggled close and she could almost feel the warmth of Dark's wings around her, even though they weren't out. Dark smiled and stroked her cheek gently, “Well, let's head to class, shall we `My Sacred Maiden'” Ario nodded and took his hand, following him to his locker, leaning against it casually as he grabbed his books. It was so nice; here in this city, it was easy for Dark to blend in with normal teenagers. No one knew of his past here.
Once Dark had collected his books, he took Ario's hand again, walking her to her dance class. Reaching the door of the private locker rooms for the dance team, Ario kissed him gently, “See you after class?” Dark shook his head, “I'm gonna ditch and watch today.” Ario shook her head and smacked him playfully. “You shouldn't ditch.” Dark grinned, “What do I need from school anyways that I don't already know.” Ario sighed and pressed the door forward to go in. “Fine, but no Catcalling!” She said, looking serious, “My teacher will flip.” Dark grinned and gave her a quick. “No catcalls, I promise.” She nodded and slipped into the dressing room.
10 minutes later found Ario changed and mingling with the other members of the team. Looking around, she noticed that they had a pretty large audience this time. Seems half the boys in the school wanted to come and watch, or they were just looking for an excuse to ditch class. She saw Dark sitting in the bleachers and waved as everyone got organized for warm-ups. Dark smiled as he watched his girlfriend stretch out, he was sure she was feeling sore from the night before. If she was, she wasn't showing it.
Once the girls got into their routine, that's when everyone started paying attention. Dark rolled his eyes as a couple boys clapped and cheered. “And she tells ME no catcalling,” He mumbled and a boy with sandy hair and freckles leaned over to Dark and pointed to Ario. “Is that your girlfriend? She sure is flexible!” Dark grinned, `You have idea,' He said to himself before replying to the other boy. “It's the Hikari grace, everyone in her family is agile.” He pointed as Ario did a back-flip that would have rivaled Krad, and he had wings!
Once the class was dismissed, Dark jumped down from the bleachers and handed her a towel that he had grabbed from the bench beside her. “Hey, gorgeous.”
Ario smiled and kissed his cheek, “Don't hug me, I'm all gross.” She said grabbing her duffle bag. “Let's get home, I need a shower.” Dark nodded and took her bag for her. “Daisuke left me the car for the day.” He said as they stepped out into the cool air. Ario groaned and cracked her neck, “Good, I don't think I can take any more strenuous activity until my muscles work again.” Dark hit the button on the keys to unlock the car door and opened the door for her. “Well, Sato and Dai aren't home until late tonight, so…” Ario stuck her tongue out as Dark tossed her bag into the back seat, “Pervert.” She teased, as she got into the car and shut the door, bucking her seatbelt. “If a massage is in it for me, then you can shower with me.” She said, leaning back in the seat. Dark grinned and fired up the engine. “Deal.”
Satoshi had a bad feeling, and when Satoshi had a bad feeling, it usually meant something was going to happen. Sitting at the computer, he tapped a finger on his desk, lost in his thoughts. “What could it be?” He asked himself, flipping through another piled of documents, currently pulled up and spread all over his desktop. A sound in the doorway made him look up and Daisuke's worried look made his heart sink.
“What's wrong?” Daisuke asked, slowly stepping into the room. Satoshi frowned, “I have a really bad feeling, but I don't know what it is, or what's causing it.” Daisuke nodded. “You felt it too?” Satoshi sighed. He was glad that there was proof he wasn't losing his mind. Daisuke leaned against the computer desk, flipping through some papers. “Could it be Krad?” He said after a moment and Satoshi momentarily froze. “I sure as hell hope not, I don't need him around Ario, it's bad enough she's dating Dark, I don't want Krad thrown into the mix too.” Daisuke nodded yet again. “I should ask my Mother, I wonder if she or Grandpa felt anything too.” Satoshi handed Daisuke the portable phone and looked at him, “Now would be nice, or I won't get any sleep.”
At the Niwa household, Emiko was not surprised to hear the call from her only son. She had indeed felt the strange shift in power and was very concerned. Emiko and Daiki stood in the basement, hands over the ceremonial fire. “What could it be?” Emiko said, waving her staff over the flames as Towa zoned into location mode. “I'm not feeling anything Emiko-san!” She said with a tone of despair. “Daiki made a humming noise and turned to his daughter. “I don't understand why we can't a get a signal from the Art World.” He said, pulling the hood away from his head. “Did Daisuke say if Dark knew anything about it?”
Emiko shook her head and pulled her hood back, “No…Dai-chan said Dark has been at school all day with Ario, and if he would have felt something, he would have came home right away.” Daiki hummed again and Towa suddenly brightened. “I got something!” She said cheerfully and an image came up in the flames. Emiko gasped and Daiki pursed his lips, saying only one word.
“White Wings.”
