Chapter 2 -Actions set in motion

Standing on the rim of the balcony Ambriel felt the wind lapping at her skin. Closing her eyes she allowed the feeling to take her over. It was a kind of feeling you get when you walk into an air-conditioned room after being out in the heat. It was a kind of feeling you get when you first emerge yourself into a swimming pool. It was the kind of feeling you get when you lay in a comfortable bed when it's late at night and you've had a long day. It was the feeling of refreshment and cleansing; just breathing in the very air filled her core with a crispness that could only be described as clarity. Taking a step forward she fell from the balcony heading for the ground below. If a person was to be standing on that balcony they would see her disappear from visible sight only to reemerge a second later with her wings spread in full glory. Rising up to meet the level of the moon she stopped for a moment casting her silhouette form against the sickly paleness of the moon. Then with a single bat of her cotton white wings, she dipped and headed off into the distance, feeling no sense of restrain or worry.

It being a Saturday night, the park was often occupied by a small cluster of outcasts that hung in the barriers of social civilization. For these people, tormenting an old lady was seen as a way to pass the time and everyday was a struggle to prove themselves in a big and over packed city.

“Shit” was a large member of the groups opening line.
“Why are we out here in the fucking middle of the night, waiting for something that might just turn out to be a fucking piece of shit?”
When tested this member was not one of the most articulate of people often clinging to a small group of curse words.
“Shut it Ikkaku” responded a grotesque looking member with bleach blonde hair, to the mans left.
“If Choin says that he has somethin' good t' show us then he will have sumthin' t' show us”
“Fine” replied Ikkaku; folding his bulging arms across his chest
“But he could of said to meet up in a warm place with a roof on it”
A gruff voice crawled in from a distance “sorry to keep you waitn' boys”
A largely built man approached with a satisfied grin on his face.
“Hey about friggn time Choin we're freezing our butts over here”
The man giggled and twitched at his side.
“Don't worry. I'm sure a hit with one of these babies will soon warm you up”
As he spoke he pulled out a handgun from a pocket on the inside of his jacket. The entire group of fearful men took a step back in both ore and trepidation.
“w…where did you get that thing?
The man laughed again once more
“it doesn't matter but what is important is that now people will start to take us seriously”
A faint chuckle began to ripple through the group.
“Well give us a go then Cho” One of the smaller members jumped out and laid a strong grasp on the gun. Instead of handing it over Choin fought back, pulling the gun towards him the barrel pointed to the sky.
“Let go you idiot, I found it I keep it!”
The struggle continued until the force caused Choin to press the trigger by mistake.

Ambriel had been flying for an hour now and she always liked to finish her trips with a calm sit on a park bench before taking off back home again. In the cover of the darkness of the night she swooped above the trees letting the leaves brush against the material of her jeans. She was just about to go under the trees when she saw a group of men fighting. She had no intention of getting involved; the other surrounding them would have to help. The sight was suddenly disturbed when a loud bang came from between the two fighting men. Quickly Ambriel tried to climb further into the sky; stopping her however was a sharp pain in her right wing. She had been shot and was now crashing towards the floor. Falling through the trees she hit every branch, the sharp twigs cutting into her skin. Hitting the ground with a hard thud, she bounced causing her pendant to fall off.
Oh no!
She slowly reached out to grab it but was stopped by flashing red lights and sirens.

“Shit!” cursed Choin “It's the police. Let's go!”
And with that the tight group scattered into various directions amongst the backdrop of flashing reds and blues. Police Inspector Saehara was the first on the scene as some of the men were being rounded up and arrested.
“Chief over here!” shouted a fellow officer.
The Inspector made his way over to a bushed area where the officer was standing. He seemed to be pointing at something.
“Look at this”
Amongst the leaves and twigs lay a few white feathers and blood puddles but what stood out the most was a Pendant which was sprawled across the grass.
“Looks historical” replied the inspector. “We'll take it to the museum tomorrow”
“I wonder what it was doing out here?” pondered the officer.
Ambriel would have emerged to claim her necklace but by this point she had already gone and had vanished into the night.
