Chapter 1: The visit

-o-o-o-

The in the early hours of the morning came too quick. The morning sunbeams shined all the way through the window and spilled into the space inside the bedroom. The petite birds were chirping away in the tree by the glass window. The birds were getting geared up to fly south for the up coming wintry weather. It was early autumn and it was the beginning of the school year. The morning was slow as the people of the town were only starting to get up and get ready for the awaiting day.

Some of the students were just arriving at school. All the girls wore the same outfit, and all the boys wore the same outfit. The girls wore a crimson red vest-like shirt that was Japanese school style uniform. They wore a long sleeve, cream color shirt underneath. As for a bottom the females had to wear a red skirt with a white rim around the bottom of it. The males' uniforms were simpler. It was a white button shirt with a red-rimmed collar and a compartment on the left side over nearby the heart; they always had to wear plain red long pants with a black belt.

A young teenaged schoolgirl walked around the school foundation, seeing that she was early to school. The sunlight extended its fingers to shine upon her long brunette hair, which fell straight down to the middle of her back; although, she had a small layer of hair just before of her ear at the level of her earlobe. The young lady lifted her pale colored, slender hand and gently pushed aside her bangs away from her dark chestnut eyes.

The girl walked over to the school's garden, she bent down looking at the flowers that only bloom in the fall. A gentle look appeared in her eyes; after all she was a gentle person. Unexpectedly, she felt a sudden tad on her shoulder; as a result, the brunette jumped. Her dark colored eyes looked over at the person who tapped her. “You shouldn't scare others like that, Ayaka-san,” she said, she had a mature, soft, soothing voice.

“Gomen, gomen,” her friend, Ayaka, apologized, “I didn't mean to straddle you, Rika.” Unlike Rika, Ayaka wasn't as formal. She looked different from her friend. She had long wavy blonde hair, down to her upper back. Pair of icy blue eyes looked pass the brunette and spotted the small garden her friend was looking at. “Flowers again, huh?”

“Yeah. What's wrong with that I like flowers?” she replied. “Nothing is wrong,” Rika heard from her buddy. The dark chestnut colored eyes looked down at her watch; she didn't realize the moment in time it was, and curriculums were going to start soon. The girl with the longer hair stood up. “We better get to class,” she told the blonde with an undersized smile.

She started to walk away before she saw her best male friend approaching her. He ran up to her before she was out of view. Rika heard her name calling out and towards her attention to the source of the sound. Her chocolate eyes looked at her friend running up to her. The bright redhead's hair was pushed slightly back while he was running.

Once he caught up with the teen, she resumed her walking to class, but this time she walked with her friend. “So what's up?” she asked curious if there was any reason why he had to talk with her so badly.

“Well, I just needed advise. I wanted to know how a girl would like to be confessed to,” he said a little hesitate as Daiki and her walked through the main entertains.

The brunette thought for a second on what to tell him. “Just find a conformable way to tell her,” she suggested, “just don't do it on the phone or something like that. Oh and don't have a friend tell her.” She opened the door to their classroom. “Who's the lucky girl? Is it Ayaka?” She was hoping it was, after all, she knew her friend had a crush on him. She only asked seeing that the blonde was no one in sight.

“Well, um, actually,” he said stretching the back of his neck. The boy didn't know what to say, “Actually, it's Megumi.” Rika wasn't too happy with the answer; although, she was happy for Daiki, but sad for Ayaka, who soon walked into the room and took her seat. The icy eyes glanced over at the redhead. A sigh escaped the girl's, who was caught in a middle of a love triangle, mouth. She should have figure he had a crush on that girl, which boy didn't. Megumi was the most popular girl of the school, she was pretty and cheerlead, in addition, had many other good-looking friends.

“Anyways, good luck,” she said and smiled, kind of forced its way out, “Oh and one more thing, happy birthday.” The female student walked away from the teenaged boy and over to her seat, which just happened to be next to the girl that was staring at her crush, before Daiki could say arigatoo. The signal for class to begin snapped her out of the intent look. Everyone took his or her seats.

The school day seemed to be so extensive. It always seemed that way in the beginning, probably because schoolwork was just getting started and it was basically to get to know your classmates. It gave the impression to feel like it took an eternally for the last bell to ring.

The students were overjoyed that it was the end of the day. Some rushed out to go home, other rusted to go talk with their friends. Rika walked slowly with Ayaka down the hall, heading for the exit. `Same old normal life, it's so boring. All there ever is, is school and come home to an empty home,' a mentally voice in her mind said, `I need some thing exciting to happen.'

The two girls walked out of the building in silent. “Ayaka, do you want to come over?” she invited her. Rika waited for a response while the lighted haired girl thought. “Don't know, I'll call my mom,” were the word that walked into the brunette's ears. The dark coffee eyes observed as a wireless phone was pulled out of the girl's brown backpack. She remained standing in the courtyard as Ayaka speed dialed her mom.

“Hi okaasan …daijoobu desu. I was just wondering if it was okay to go over Rika's…Okay, thanks. Talk to you later,” the female with shorter hair said into the phone. After her conversation with her okaasan she clicked the off button on the phone. As her pale hand put the cell back into her bag she said, “My Okaasan says it's fine, but I have to be home before 8.” As soon as her bag was closed, a pair of sky colored eyes looked up at Rika.

“All right then let's go,” she replied to her and started to walk home taking the pathway along the roads.

The two acquaintances arrived at the large house, on the wealthier side of the town. Rika's dad was the chief of the police station and her mom was an ER doctor. She got almost anything she wanted, but her parents were hardly ever home. The blue eyes slightly grew. “To be honest, I'm surprise who big your house it ever time I come here.” Ayaka wasn't as rich as the other girl; she was more in the middle class.

“Yeah, but I would give it up to have my parents home sometime. You're so lucky you are close with your mom and dad, and you even have siblings,” she said with envy in her voice. They walked into the family room and sat down on the couch. The girl, who lived in the mansion, turned on the TV, and flipped to the news. The visitor joined her. “I guess we better start homework. It is starting to pile up now,” pointed-out the darker girl.

Both of them took out their papers and worked on them together. Meanwhile, a certain redhead boy just came home. “I'm home,” the boy moaned, it was tired from all the classes. He started to head up stairs to his bedroom, when his mom came over.

“Sweetie, I made food if you're hungry,” she said in her sweet voice. The dark black haired women stood by the first step at the bottom. Her radiant dark brown, nearly black, eyes looked up at her son.

“No thanks Okaasan. I'm just tired,” he said and continued to walk up the stairs. When he was at the top of the flight of steps, his mother said, “Alright, just be ready to leave at 6:30.” The lady walked away with a smirk. She sent in a letter for 7, but Daiki would most likely have question.

The growing boy went into his bedroom and fell onto his soft bed. He didn't even bother to get under the covers; the boy just fell asleep like that

Ayaka and Rika were listening to the news while doing their homework. Rika was helping the other girl with one of the math problems, when breaking news caught her attention. The two stop what they were doing and the brown haired girl turned up the volume.

“Today, the police receive a letter from the notorious, Phantom Thief Dark. It stated that he would be stealing Polynesie, le ciel by Henri Matisse at 7 o'clock tonight. It has been about 20 years since we last seen this thief in action. According to the elders, he has never been caught. Tonight live, we will have this thief on TV in his act,” the reporter said. The news changed into advertisements and then the large screen turned to black.

“That seems interesting, that do you think?” Ayaka said looking over at her friend. There was only a nodded in agreement, but this only meant that her father would only be working more hours. Her heart dropped even lower than the bottom of the ocean floor. As if her parents were hardly home enough. Sadness filled even last spot in her core.

The sparkling eyes turned to dull as the blue eyes saw her expression. “I should go now, I forgot I promise my brother I would play with him,” she gave false facts. Ayaka gather her belongs and went to the door. Her friend walked with her to the door.

“Do you want me to go part of the way with you?” she offered. The dark coffee eyes examined the girl shaking her head. Rika watched as her friend leave until she was out of sight. The girl that was still there went back into the house.

It was 6:45 when a pair of matching red eyes to his hair opened up. He didn't feel to good, the boy got up and opened the window for some air. He didn't notice that his body was changing. The teen grew an inch or two, his hair grew to a long slightly spiked purple. The dark amethyst hair was down to his chin in many layers. The hair was parted on the right side of his head.

The used to be redhead boy could feel himself losing conscious of his mind. He looked over at the mirror and the ruby circles grew. “What's the fu-!” he stopped himself. He rubbed his eyes thinking it was just seeing things, since he was feeling to good and the fact that he just woke up. When he looked at his reflection he was the same awkward haired boy.

The teen ran down the stairs as fast as he could. “Okaasan, Otoosan. What's happening to my body?!” he half yelled at them. His parents looked over at him.

“Don't worry. It's just your genes kicking in. Let me explain. Every male of the Niwa family turns into the phantom thief dark at the age of fourteen. Anyhow, surprise happy birthday,” he teased and grinned at him. The dad went back to reading the newspaper.

“Dad, this isn't funny,” he whined.

“Relax just steal the Polynesie, le ciel, and everything will be fine.” His eyes were still on the large papers, “You better get going if you don't want to be la-” he was interrupted by a loud thump. He looked over to see the scene of his son on the floor. A deep breathe left his mouth. He looked back over to now see the boy up again, but this time with dark matching purple eyes with hair.

“Long time no see,” he said, it was a different voice than Daiki, “Sorry but I have to cut this short, seeing that I have to steal something in ten minutes.” The phantom thief saw as the old `sacred maiden.' She had a little white rabbit-like creature in her arms.

“Hi dark,” she greeted him. “You're going to need him if you are going to be on time.” She handed him the bunny. The little animal smiled and said, “Kyuu!” Wiz jumped onto the tall man's shoulder.

“Alright then, I'll be going now. See you later beautiful,” he said and winked at her; although, it didn't seem to have an effect on her. The thief left for outside and the bunny turned into jet-black wings and was attached to his back. Dark left for the art museum.

Rika looked at the digital clock. She read 6:57. She turned to the news and lay down on her queen size bed. She had a nice bedroom; it was huge. There was bathroom inside her bedroom along with a huge close that had all her clothes hanging.

Meanwhile, Dark wasn't too far from the museum, he just was floating in the air, looking at the watch tower, waiting for the long hand to point at the night sky. The bell started to ring; the lights by the museum came on. By the seventh ring, Dark had the spotlight on him, along with many cameras rolling.

The fourteen-year-old girl stared at the television, surprise on how young he looked. He didn't look over 20; he didn't look a day older than fifth teen. `How could he have appear 20 years ago? It looks to be a little older than me.' Within a minute since he was on the news, he disappeared. “I'll take a shower now, know my dad, it either won't take long before he is caught or it will take a while for him to get the painting,” she thought out loud.

Rika got up from her bed and walked into her closet. She walked into the bathroom with a sea green nightgown with a white flower design on it.

On the other hand Dark, used Wiz to set off an alarm at the far end of the building. He waited until there were only two guards left by the painting. His violet eyes looked at the paint, the beautiful blue paint and odd figure that appeared to be doves. The thief threw rock towards on end of the room to lure the guard over there. When the guards were back to their position, Polynesie, le ciel was gone.

The Phantom Thief was long gone out of the museum. “Wiz!” he called. He gone his wings and took flight. His black clothes and dark colored hair nearly blended in with atmosphere.

Back with Rika, she stepped out of the showered and put on her nightgown. Her attention went back to the TV, she listen to that the thief had escaped. “I'm surprised. My dad always catches the thieves.” She turned off the box with the clicker. “It was even least than ten minutes,” her voice added. The brunette girl walked out onto her balcony. Her eyes gazed at the ocean of stars.

Dark didn't apprehend how high he was. He started to have a hard time breathe the thin air. He lowered himself down to the ground, unaware where he has landed.

Rika watched at the dark angel landed in her back yard. She ran back into the house and out into the back yard to see whom it was. When she was close enough to see who it was, she was paralyzed from shock for a short period of time. “What are you here?” she asked

The person looked over at her. Wiz changed back into his normal form. A grinned appeared on his face before he collapsed. The girl ran over and checked if he was all right. “What's wrong? Are you hurt?” she asked concerned. She didn't take in how hot he was until now. The daughter of the owned of the land helped Dark to his feet.

“Daijoobu desu. I just flew a little too high,” he said. The thief focused on her stunning eyes. Rika felt like she melted in his eyes. `He's a thief. I shouldn't be feeling this way!' she yelled in her mind. “Sorry, gorgeous, but I'm afraid that I'm going to have to cut this short,” Dark said in a flirtation, sexy voice.

“You shouldn't push yourself, concerning that you weren't feeling too going that is,” she said as she played with her wet hair. “You could stay inside my place, until you feel better. No one is home but me.”

The taller person thought for a second. “So, no ones home,” he said raising his eyebrow.

Rika could feel her check burning from the redness. “In that case, go for all I care,” she said almost yelling. “I didn't mean it in that way,” she muttered to herself as she was walking back into the mansion. She felt someone grabbing onto her wrist. “Relax, I was just joking,” he said and smiled, “I think I will stay for a bit.”
