Danny Phantom Fan Fiction ❯ Chelsea Ghost Shorts [Write November 2024] ❯ 14 Past Life [Memories] ( Chapter 9 )
Chelsea and Danny were alone practicing as usual, when a question came to her mind. Danny had told her to ask any questions, but she wondered what this question would do to him. The only way to find out would be to ask, so she did.
“Hey, Danny,” Chelsea ventured.
“What’s up?” he replied.
“This is a little awkward, but…” Her words came out in a rush. “Whatwasyourlifelikebeforebecomingahalfa?”
Danny shook his head. “I’m sorry, what?”
Chelsea sighed and tried again. “What was your life like before becoming a halfa?”
“Oh!” Danny chuckled. “Is that all?”
Chelsea blushed. “You’re okay that I asked you?”
“Yeah,” Danny said. “I mean, it kinda feels like a past life, you know, but to be honest, I was just a regular teenager. There wasn’t anything special about me.”
“Tell me more,” Chelsea prompted.
He shrugged. “What more is there to say? I did my homework, got the same C average I get now, and I hung out with my friends.”
“So, the same things you’re doing now?” Chelsea asked.
“Yup, pretty much.”
“Can I ask… what happened to you? How did you become a halfa?”
That brought Danny down a bit. “That I don’t like to remember.”
“I’m sorry,” Chelsea said. “Forget I said anything.”
“No, don’t worry about it, I’ll tell you,” Danny said. “Sam, Tucker, and I were in my parents’ lab. It’s in the basement of our house. They had built a portal to the Ghost Zone but it didn’t work. It works now, but that’s because I stepped into it.”
“Wait, you made it work?” Chelsea asked. “How?”
Danny chuckled darkly. “The on switch was inside the portal. I accidentally pressed it. I was wearing a rubber jumpsuit, but that didn’t stop…”
“Stop what?”
Danny grimaced. “The electricity flowing through my body. I’m lucky I didn’t die. Well, I guess I sort of did. I became a half-ghost.”
“Wow,” Chelsea breathed.
“What about you?” Danny asked. “If you don’t mind sharing, how did you become a half-ghost?”
“I’m not sure,” Chelsea said, “but it happened after I took an experimental medicine. I was in a coma at the time, so I don’t know the details. Maybe I half died, too.”
“The half-dead club,” Danny said sarcastically.
Chelsea smiled. “How about the half-alive club? I feel more alive than dead.”
“Yeah,” Danny said, smiling back at her. “I like it.”
