She sat down her bag and flipped her phone open, looked at it again, just to make sure she wasn't seeing things (situations like this are just too perfect), and answered.
“Hello?”
Sure enough, the man on the other end was just the person she had suddenly decided she wanted to be speaking to at this moment.
“Amane Misa? This is L.” He answered calmly.
“I know L, I have this number saved into my phone. What do you need?”
“Hmm…” He muttered before saying something complete, “Aren't you with Light right now? It's generally an impossibility to get a hold of you when you're with him.”
She tried her hardest not to laugh at the question.
“I left early, I was hoping to go out with some friends tonight, and you know Light isn't one to go out and have a good time. You're L after all, you should know that.”
“I was simply asking, not implying that I didn't know. Regardless, I was hoping I could meet you somewhere soon. Tonight, in fact. I need to speak with you about some things involving Light and, to be quite frank, you're the only person that this involves. Any way you can tell your friends to make it another night?”
The laughter was getting harder and harder to control. How perfect was this? Light makes her furious, so she leaves early and decides to have a nice cup of tea with the one person Light wants her to stay as far away from as humanly possible. Fantastic.
“Yeah, I can do that. Where do you want to meet me? The coff—“
“There's a hotel across the street from the one that Light is currently staying in. If my presumptions are correct, you haven't left the building yet. Go across the street and to the counter, tell them your name is Asim. They will give you a key to room number 212. I'm already here.”
Asim, clever.
“I'll be there in about 10 minutes.” And the call ends.
Misa looks around. Down the hall, just around in general, and then starts laughing. How beautifully perfect this is. It doesn't even matter what L wants to talk about, just her being alone with L will be enough to make Light furious, and by now, that's the entire point. Phone in pocket, she picks up her bags, and walks into the now open elevator shaft. Looking at herself in the reflective walls, she smiles, and giggles to herself.
“Sorry Light, when it comes to who's side I'm on, it's more 50%/50%.”
As L said, it didn't take her long to get to the room at all. She stood in front of the door for a couple seconds before digging the key card out of her jacket pocket and inserting it into the lock. It made a click, and she turned the handle. The door opened, and she slowly walked inside. It was dark, maybe about one light on in the entire room, and it was a large room. She looked around for any sign of L and couldn't see anyone, but she did smell fresh coffee, and that was a clear enough indicator for her that L was around, so she kicked her heels off again and walked to the couch. She sat her bag next to the couch, and then suddenly realized how stupid she truly is. She just went from Light's hotel room, where she wrote down tons of fresh new names of criminals, and then immediately went to meet L in a hotel room of their own. She was horrified. What if L brought me here just to search my things? What if he knew this the whole time? I really am an idiot. All of these things flooded through her head as she was sitting there, but she was already here, and there was nothing she could do now. She was sure that if L was in the room, he had already heard her walk inside. All she could do now, was hope and pray that that ISN'T why L asked her to come here. She had never been more scared in her life.
“Would you like anything, Misa?”
The sound of someone talking alone made her jump, and she quickly turned to look behind her. There was L, standing in the kitchen of the hotel room with an apron on, with clear coffee stains on it, holding a mug. Not holding it correctly, but holding it in general. You know how L is. She sighed and just stared at him, almost not knowing what to say. His eyes shifted side to side from her not answering him.
“I'll just bring it over then, I suppose.”
She quickly realized how ridiculous she was acting and snapped back to sense.
“I-I'm sorry, L! Um, yes, I'd like a cup please.”
He walked back over with a tray of two cups of coffee and sat next to her on the couch. She couldn't even stand to make eye contact with him. There was nothing she could do and she knew that. Even if nothing was going on, she knew L wasn't dumb, hell, anyone would be able to tell that she was nervous about something, and she certainly wasn't nervous when she answered the phone, and agreed to come over here. They sat together in silence for a little while, but L finally broke it.
“So, about why I asked you to come here…”
Here it was. Life or death. Right here, right now.
“Are you and Light, doing alright?” He took a sip of his coffee, then sat it down and placed somewhere between five and ten more sugar cubes in it, “I mean, I'm generally not a nosey person, but I feel as if we're all close enough by now, that I can be caring and inquire. My apologies if you don't agree with my feelings.”
No words, still, just in an entirely different way.
“I-I…it's fine. Really. Yeah, Light and I are fine. Our relationship is fine. I mean, you know, couples have their fights, heh.”
This was getting real awkward. She went to meet L to make Light angry, but it was just turning out that L is a nice guy, how could she POSSIBLY use this against Light, other than the fact that anything she does makes him angry?
“Well, I'm glad to hear—“ He started to answer, before looking at Misa, and noticing the strange look on her face. “Are you alright?”
Amane Misa had some decisions to make, and right this second. Tons of things were going through her head. She had remembered everything that had happened lately. How terribly Light treated her, just how he's an awful person in general—and not even because of being Kira. At least when he was Kira, he was doing something that he thought was right in his own mind, and plenty of people did agree. Now what is he doing? Nothing. He's playing with the minds of L and even the other detectives, and not even effectively. L knows he's Kira. L knows. It's not even a question to him anymore, he's just trying to find the solid evidence it takes to nail him for the crimes. What does she want to do? She's got L right here, right in her grasp, and how can she use L to her thorough advantage to make SURE Light hates himself?
Simple enough.
“I haven't been this great in…a long time.”
L continues looking at her, and then makes solid eye contact with Misa. Her facial expression changed now. If there's one thing L is exceptional at, it's reading peoples emotions, and you can believe that he had seen this one throughout his entire life. Revenge. He didn't turn away from her, but his eyes shifted to break eye contact. He knew what was happening, but he didn't exactly know how to avoid it by this time. He was surprised at himself for even letting it get this far. What to do, what to do. Come on L, you've got this.
Before having time to react, Misa had made contact. Oh no. How extremely awkward.
This was perfect. This is exactly what Misa needed and wanted. What's one thing that would make Light furious? Kissing L. Sure, it might be kind of awkward for both herself and L, but it gets the job done, and is well worth it. Let's see how far this could really go.
But before she had the chance to test it out, L broke contact.
“Amane Misa, you have a boyfriend. Your boyfriend is a very good friend of mine.”
Bullshit he is.
“I hate Light. I don't want anything to do with him.”
“That's between you two, and in no way involves me, and I would appreciate,” L looking away, slightly blushing, and taking a sip of coffee, “you not involving me in such…awkward ways.”
Misa didn't know what to say. This doesn't really…happen to her. When's the last time she was turned down? Probably never. She couldn't say anything. By that point, L had looked back and realized just how awkward things are, and how bad he must have made her feel.
“I...uh…It's just sort of a strange situation.” Looking up at the ceiling, “There really…isn't much I can say to make this any better.”
She had to make another decision now. She knew how boys worked, she knew if she really, really went for it, she could get him to spend the night with her, and now especially, that's what she wanted. She had to go for it.
“Do you trust me, L?”
He looked at her, and had to keep himself from laughing.
“Don't you think, given the circumstances, that's sort of a…silly, question for you to ask me?”
“Well, there's a first time for everything.” And she finished her statement by lunging towards, and on top of him.
L is generally a calm person. Even when something like this is to happen to him; his best friends girlfriend coming onto him, he's pretty good at keeping his cool. He fell backwards to the weight of Misa and just stared up, not making eye contact with her at all. She continued to fix her positioning on top of him so that she was sitting comfortably on his pelvis, and leaned down towards him, her mouth to his ear.
“You have to trust some decisions I want to make, L.”
L sighed.
“I will be completely honest with you, Amane Misa. For the first time in my life, I don't know what to do right now.”
Misa giggled, and kissed his neck, and whispered, “You don't have to do anything.”, and then she kissed him again, this time, greeted by a much more willing and accepting L.
They kissed heavily for what seemed like forever to both of them, and Misa was quite surprised by how easy L was making this on her. When the idea came to her mind, she wasn't exactly loving it. It's not that she didn't find L attractive, but he's kind of strange, and kind of awkward…she just couldn't picture anything sexual being very easy with him, but he was proving her wrong one second at a time. The way he kissed was amazing. He certainly knew what he was doing, when it came to that, at least, and she found herself being more and more persuaded into thinking that this was one of the best ideas she's ever had. He brought his hand up to her neck and pulled her into him even more, and the kiss became all the more intense. She was losing herself in him. He was losing himself in her. He brought his other hand to her back, down her spine, and to the small of her back—he forced her down on him more, and he got just the response he was looking for. Misa's back arched, and she let out a sigh, breaking the kiss. She looked down at him, face blushed, and quickly connected the kiss again. With how ferocious it was, their kissing was almost sloppy now. Things were getting hard to control by now, and there were only so many options left.
L broke the kiss but held her close to his face.
“Do you want me?” He asked her, staring straight into her eyes.
“Yeah, I do.” She answered, in the most needing voice.
L sat up slightly and kissed her again, “I want you too.” He removed his shirt, and she followed shortly after.
