Light could distantly hear the soft clap of his shoes repeatedly coming in contact with the pavement as he walked away from the building after the To-Oh entrance ceremony. He barely registered any other sound, too wrapped up in the constant and persistent pecking of his ego over the conversation that had transpired inside not moments ago. L. He played the entire encounter over and over in his head, combing and sifting for clues, hints, even glimpses of any possible alternative motives or hidden intentions. Of course there were several ways to take every phrase spoken on both sides. Some of the things were what he would expect a detective of L’s caliber to say, logical statements designed to elicit certain reactions, reactions that would confirm and dispel supposed guilt. But some of the things he said… Light couldn’t see how they would help to prove or disprove anything involving the Kira case. Light could only assume that the comments were meant to put him off balance, maybe even to distract him. But to say that he was “actually quite stunning” now that they had met and spoken, and how he looked forward to “becoming closer to Light, in time.” How was he meant to take those statements?

A voice calling out his name cut through his thoughts. He turned around to see L walking towards him and smiled in his direction, trying to mask his uneasy musings. Now that he was acknowledged L spoke again. “It was nice to meet you.” Light pasted onto his face looked like a genuinely appreciative smile. “No, the pleasure was all mine.” L walked over to a black limo, apparently his. “Well, see you on campus.” He moved to get into he vehicle and then stopped. “Would Light like a ride home?” Light very quickly weighed out the pros and cons of accepting the offer. He nodded his head in acceptance, figuring he could at least use the time to gather clues as to how true this mans claims of being L were. It was still safest to assume that he was. L stepped away from the door to let the younger man get into the car first. As he slid onto the seat he heard L whisper something to the white-haired man that was holding the door open for them. L then slid in beside him, sitting in his personally odd way. The door was shut and soon after the man was in the drivers seat. A dark piece of glass glided up, making the driver invisible to them, as well as them to the driver. Light casually looked over to L, trying to read the situation, but L just gazed passively at the glass, eyes revealing nothing. They were driving now and still, L remained silent. Why would he have me here if he wasn’t going to talk? I was sure that he would try to interrogate me. I can’t stand just sitting here in silence! It would be a waste. I have to say something… “So, Ryuga, are you really L or were you just trying to get me into your car?”

L finally turned to look in his direction. He spoke without bothering to remove the tip of his thumb from his mouth. “ I must admit that I had hoped you would accept my offer, but I assure you that I am who I say. I am L. How else would I have known so much about you?”

Light smiled and leaned back into the seat. “Wow, I can’t believe that I am in the car of the worlds greatest detective.” He laughed. “I had wanted for so long to be just like you but now that I’ve met you I just don’t think such a thing is possible.” L tilted his head to one side, seeming to be thinking. “Why do you say that?” Light laughed again. “Please don’t take offense, but just look at yourself. I’ve never seen anyone who looked even a little bit like you. You move and speak differently as well. I couldn’t possibly imagine why someone would even want to try to copy all of your behaviors, words and mannerisms. All of that work… They would have to be insane.” L’s lips suddenly became a tight thin line. “You might be surprised, but I do agree that the person would have to be insane.” Light laughed a bit more, trying to seem relaxed. He wondered curiously what was behind the statement. It seemed as if it had meant something that was possibly important or could be helpful to him. He stored it away as something to think on later. Then he noticed that L was still looking at him., or more accurately was staring at him. Light was taken a little aback by that stare. It was so… invasive.

L said, “I hope you will forgive me but--” He paused for a moment. “I’ve never been denied anything that I wanted and I don’t intend to be denied now.” Light didn’t even have time to look confused before L’s lips were on his, pressing his body against him. Light gasped in shock, leaving and opening for L to thrust his tongue into his mouth. L was surprisingly skilled and as unpracticed as Light was he felt almost faint. Moans were being pulled from him before he could stop them. L had pushed him down onto the seat, his hands were everywhere. The older man was nestled in between his legs, tugging at his clothing. His tie was loosened, shirt buttons undone, and then he felt L’s hot wet mouth on his neck. His body betrayed is mind as he trust up against L’s hips, causing the older man to smile into his exposed throat. L’s hand slid down Light’s body and gripped him through his pants, kneading his embarrassingly evident arousal. Light bit his lip to stifle a cry of pleased/confused shock. He could no longer control his breathing and he was panting, almost gasping for air. He squirmed and writhed shamelessly. Then he heard, more than felt, the zipper on his pants coming down. He froze. “Ryuga, please stop--” L kept the boy pinned and tried to kiss his mouth to silence him. Light turned his head away and almost shouted, “I’ve never done this Ryuga, please!” L finally stopped, slowly retracted his hand from where it had found it’s way into Lights pants. He leaned up on his arms to look down at Light, searching. Light was still breathing heavily and he must have looked anxious and distraught because he just didn’t have the energy to hide his emotions this time. It was all going to calming himself the fuck down. L slid down Light’s body before sitting up and pulling the confused young man up with him. “I am truly sorry. You are quite irresistible and I was completely unaware of your inexperience. I suppose that this will have to wait… until we know each other a little better.”

Light’s eyes grew wide, he could barely comprehend. “W-what?” L smiled and leaned in to breath on Light’s neck. “Now, Light cannot tell me that he might not like to continue this at later time. When he is feeling less pressured perhaps?” Light raked his finger through his hair. “I- I don’t know. I have to admit that you’ve caught me off guard.” L nodded and began to adjust Light’s clothing for him. Light was so flustered by the situation that he had completely forgotten about his appearance. When he was once again presentable L said, “Well then, it would only be fair to give you time to think it over.” He pressed a small button by the door. “We’re ready.”

Light’s jaw dropped. “You planned this?”

L just looked at him for a moment before replying. “I was planning something, but what happened was not it.” Light glared, barely suppressing the flash of anger of L having so eloquently side-stepping his question. “What were you ---” The door nearest to Light opened and revealed the white haired old man again. “We have arrived.” Light’s mouth pressed into a tight line and he slid out of the car. L leaned out of the door and said, “I’ll see you on campus. We should make plans to spend more time together.” Light nodded. “Okay, see you soon.”

“Goodbye, Light Yagami.”

“Goodbye.” L.

The door was closed and the limo soon drove off. Light headed into the house, moving mechanically, ignoring all distractions until he was safe inside of his room with the door closed. He sat down calmly at his desk. He heard Ryuk chuckle. “Well, that was interesting.” That was it, the last straw. Light had had enough. He snapped. He slammed his fists down on the desk, leaning onto it for support, trembling and shaking in anger. “Goddammit! He got me!” The laughter quickly ceased. “I played right into his hands like some sort of well used marionette! I couldn’t even think strait. I could have---” he stopped himself. He was being unreasonable. That thought infuriated him even more, but throwing a tantrum was not helpful. He had to try and sort this out. Rationally. This man was obviously L. Who else could have played him so easily, put his so off balance. The question was, what to do? Ryuk finally thought it safe to speak. “Are you gonna kill him?”

Light sat up strait again, turning around to face the shinigami. “I don’t have his real name. if I use the one he gave me a teen idol may die. It would be as good a signed confession.” Ryuk chuckled again. “Well, there is always the eyes.” Light snorted his disapproval.” So that when the actual L dies I can be arrested for that? If no one else does, his driver at least know that we have met today. Who knows who else he informed. He’s not a stupid man.” he leaned forward, elbows on his knees and chin resting on the back of his raised left hand. “But neither am I. Two can play this game. He thinks to throw me off with his actions, but what if I were to respond more… favorably to his advances. Would he be put off? Confused? Or would he press forward, seeing an advantage? Or would it seem more possible, perhaps, that I am more of an average teenager than he thought?” The god of death looked like he didn’t understand. “I will let him do what he wants, Ryuk, with only the amount of resistance expected of a inexperienced youth. I will gain his… favor first, and then hopefully his affections. His love and his trust. My body will become a tool just as much as my pen. And when I finally have him convinced that there is no possible way that I could be Kira, he will give me his name, willingly and without question. And then, I will kill him.”

The room filled with the sound of laughter that only Light could hear.
