“I wish I had a job already! Something that gives good pay so I can get one of those cars, but I’d have to get a permit then I can drive one.”
“Miss Sakaki?” Chiyo-chan’s voice came from behind her.
Sakaki turned her head. “Oh, hi, Chiyo-chan... I was just admiring the cars that were driving by.”
“Yeah, I noticed.” She smiled. “You wish you could get one, but they cost so much... about two-thousand.”
Sakaki looked into space eye-widened. Two grand for just one car? Well, you might as well need a very good job that offers pay. “But, Miss Sakaki, isn’t there some other type of vehicle you would like to have besides a car?”
“Yeah, but there’s no way I can get the money, even if my mother gave me an allowance or I got a job working at a store or something.”
“Do you want me to loan you some money?”
Sakaki thought about this, but shook her head, and let out a smile. “I would appreciate that, Chiyo-chan, but I can’t do that. You’re my friend, and I don’t want to use your money to buy something for myself.”
The child prodigy nodded. She understood her best friend’s feelings and did not want to say anything that might make her sad. The two walked till they made it to school, where they did the rest of their day. After the day was over, they all walked out of the school building and talked. “So, Sakaki,” Kagura started, “Chiyo-chan told me that you wanted a car that you saw today.”
“Yeah, but like I said to her... I can’t even afford it.”
“I understand. Cars like those are way to expense to buy. You would have to save up for two years to get one.”
She continued to talk to her friends as they walked home then when they got near to their homes, they went their separate ways. Sakaki though, said she wanted to go get something to help take her mind of cars and motorcycles, so she went and got an ice cream and walked out of the ice cream parlor.
“Hey, Kid,” said a voice.
Sakaki turned to the source of it, seeing a young boy wearing a business suit, leaning against the wall.
“Yes?” she asked.
“I couldn’t help but overhear you talkin’ to the store manager. I’m a manager, too. The name’s Ken, Ken Ichijouji, I run a club I own in the Red Light District. Heard you been looking for a job, seeing as you been wanting some cash to blow and some new wheels.”
She nodded. “Yeah, but what kind of job can I expect from you?”
“Kid, you can expect the dangerous kind of work, and I mean dangerous. If you wanna work for me, or any other people here in this city, you gotta play rough... really rough, you know?”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“For you doing your job, you get paid greatly... what do you say to that?”
“Is there a catch?”
“No catch, just smooth, dirty action.”
‘Smooth, dirty action? What kind of job does this guy offer... me being an errand girl?’ Sakaki thought to herself. He looked at her and said, handing her a card, “Anytime you feel like getting to work, give me a call.”
She took the card and he walked away, probably going back to his club. Sakaki looked at the card, seeing his number then stuffed it into her pocket, and walked away, going back to home. “This new job... how much would they pay me for doing these errands and can I get a car to get around this city?” she asked herself, going to her door and walked inside.
Her thoughts kept focus of this new thing that Ken had told her. Since the work was hard, the money had to be good, really good. That night at dinner, she did not bring up the subject of the employment to her parents, fearing what they might say.
That night, when her parents were out of the house to go eat at a restaurant; with the card in her hand, she went to the phone and picked up the receiver. She dialed the number and waited for somebody to pick up.
Eventually, someone did. “This is Ken, what can I do for ya?”
“Ken... it’s me, Sakaki. You know, the girl you meet earlier today?”
There was a pause, till Ken said, “Oh, right, Sakaki! Thanks for the name... I forgot to ask about it when I met you. Anyways, why’d you call?”
“It’s about your offer.”
“Ah, did you give it some thought? You interested?”
“Well, I am, but you didn’t get to explain to me what all I have to do for other people in this city, since you said I’m going to work with other people.”
So he explained all the details about taking this offer. Explaining to her the money, the people she’ll have to work for, odd jobs she can pull, assassinations, fights, and other things. “I have to do that?”
“Yeah, but think about it. You would be receiving good pay for the tasks you can pull off. Any kind of car you see driving on the street, you can jack it from the person, you can pickpocket, you can kill, and you can do all kinds of things, Sakaki.”
She thought about this, soaking up the info she was given. With this, she can buy anything she wanted! Hell, she can even herself her own place! Her mind made up, she smiled and said in the receiver. “I’m in.”
“Great! Whenever you get a chance, come but the back of my club and I’ll give you some work for ya. Oh, and wear something that makes you look good... like a man. Later, Kid!” Both parties hung up. “Well, I got it, but he also wants me to wear something good, and that makes me look like a man.” It only took her a few minutes to know what she had to wear tomorrow, and with that, she was set.
Sakaki walked into the teacher’s lounge, seeing Minamo Kurosawa, her Physical Education teacher. “Miss Kurosawa, do you have any boy uniforms?”
She nodded. “I have plenty. Come on, I’ll show you to them.”
Minamo took her to the back of the gym where she kept them and showed them to Sakaki, where she put on the one that fit, excluding the white ribbon on her head. “Miss Sakaki, any reason you need on of these?” asked the gym teacher.
“For something,” she simply said, “and can I also have this?”
“Um... sure.”
She thanked her and put the outfit in her schoolbag and changed into her school uniform, and then she set off for home. At home, she walked through the door and went up to her bathroom to change, and then when she changed, she looked at herself in the mirror.
Ken said that the work was going to be dirty as hell, working with other people like mob bosses. Still looked at herself in the mirror, she practiced. “You want some of me, punk? You can’t handle me!”
Oh, yeah, I think she’s got it.
After that, she went to her parents, saying she was going to go out. “Okay, just be careful sweetie,” said her mother.
“I will, mom.”
And she went out the door, walking along the side walk then walked in the street, stopping a woman in a red Dodge Viper. Sakaki went up to the car door and pulled her out then speed away from her, going to Ken’s club. Driving for her was kinda fun, and she drove like Yukari. Sakaki parked her car on the sidewalk and went to the service door in the back.
Sakaki walked up the steps and knocked on the door. At first, there was nothing then the door opened and Ken walked out. “Oh, Sakaki, good to see ya! That’s a great outfit.”
“Thanks. Now what kind of work you want me to do?”
“Easy there, beautiful. I need you to pick up something before you can do the serious shit here in Liberty. I know about you being a high school kid and all and that’s all great, but when you step into the jungle of this business, you gotta have the balls to do it. Well, you know what I mean.”
“Yeah, now what hell you want me to pick up?”
“It’s at the police station in Trenton. There’s a man that will get you situated in this new life. Got meet him, and then when he gives you the stuff, I want you to go and pick up this money for me. It’s from a low-down rat that hasn’t been paying me the cash he owes me. You’ll see him at the Portland Harbor. From there, Sakaki, I want you to waste his ass!”
“No problem,” she said.
Getting her objective, she got back in her car and backed up, smashing into a person’s taxi then went forward, but smashed into the car in front. Sakaki then saw the light turn green and the traffic moved as she sped away. Making it to the police station was short, but she went around the back till she saw the guy carrying a large black bag.
“You Sakaki?” he asked.
“Yeah, that’s me.”
He tossed the back to her and she caught it, feeling how heavy it was. “Merry Christmas, kid,” he said. She looked at him and opened it up, seeing it filled with weapons–A AK-47, M-16, Uzi, Nine Millimeter, Shotgun, Flamethrower, Sniper Rifle, and a heavy artillery Bazooka.
“Thanks,” she said.
“No problem, kid. Now get outta here before them cops come snoopin’ around!”
She put the bag in the passenger side of the car, and drove off, going to the harbor, speeding into other cars along the way and hit the brakes, coming to a screeching stop. She got out, armed with her Uzi and pointed it at him. “You’re the guy that owes Ken his bread.”
“Yeah, and what’re you... his right hand bitch?”
“I may be a bitch, but I’m a dangerous bitch!” And with a pull of the trigger, she put lead in his stomach. After he was dead, she went over and grabbed the briefcase a few feet away. Opening it, she saw it was money, a lot of it. “This should be enough for Ken.” Getting in her car, she drove back to the club, going to the back.
She knocked on the door, seeing Ken. “Did you take care of it?”
“Yeah, and here’s the money. That should be enough to cover it.” She handed him the briefcase and he was pleased. “Excellent, kid, you did good! Oh, and there’s a place on the edge of the Red Light District where you can lay low. I’ll give you a call if anything comes up.”
“Thanks. See ya around.”
She left the place, going to the hideout he told her about. It was small, but it was home to her. Moving her car into the garage for safe keeping, she got out and went inside the place, closing the door. Inside, it was okay. It had a bed, lamp, washer, and dryer, TV, stove, just like the comforts of her own home.
“Well, guess it’s better than nothing. Guess I’ll stay here for tonight... I’m sure my folks aren’t worried about me.”
She kicked off her shoes and laid on the bed, looking for the remote. Once she found it, she turned on the TV and kicked back.
“I’m sure she’s fine, dear. She probably went to go sleep at a friends place.”
“But without asking me?” said the mother.
“She’ll be fine. You worry about her too, too much.”
“Maybe so.”
Knowing that their daughter was safe, they went to bed, turning off all the lights and locking everything up.

Sakaki walked through her neighborhood of Japan. She gazed at the sports cars cruising along the streets as well as the many pedestrians chit-chatting with one another. “Kind of wish I had a car like those,” she said to herself. Wait, what the heck was she saying... she was only in high school and doesn’t even had a drivers permit for gosh sake!“I wish I had a job already! Something that gives good pay so I can get one of those cars, but I’d have to get a permit then I can drive one.”
“Miss Sakaki?” Chiyo-chan’s voice came from behind her.

Next day at school, Sakaki could barely contain herself! Sure, she did her usual thing of staring out the window, but her mind of going crazy. ‘Oh, I wish this day would end already! I want to get that boy’s uniform so it can be my outfit for work.’ She thought to herself, and pretty soon, her wish was granted. Gathering her belongings, she power-walked out of the classroom while some of the students looked at her, thinking where she was going.Sakaki walked into the teacher’s lounge, seeing Minamo Kurosawa, her Physical Education teacher. “Miss Kurosawa, do you have any boy uniforms?”

Meanwhile, her parents were getting worried. It was ten-thirty and their daughter was still not home. “Where could she be?” asked her mother. “She has school tomorrow.”“I’m sure she’s fine, dear. She probably went to go sleep at a friends place.”

Sakaki let out a loud belch, scarfing down her Chinese takeout that she had asked for delivery. That was her fourth box of food she had eaten and she was still hungry. Starting on her fifth, she said to herself, “I could get used to this new life,” and continued to eat.*
Black Waltz: Interesting, huh? I look forward to updating.
