The Collector

Chapter One:

Tails

As a plane shot through the sky, the sun shown brightly, not a cloud in sight. Its brilliant light seemed to warm the air, as soft gusts of wind cool it down from getting too warm.

On the outside of the plane was a small, blue hedgehog figure standing on the tip. In the cockpit was an orange fox figure flying it. They shouted back and forth to each other, calling each other by their names.

"Sonic! We're coming close to Eggman's base," the fox yelled. "Good Tails," the hedgehog replied "Get me a little closer and I'll take it from here!"

As they closed in on Eggman's island base, something shot through one of the wings of the plane, then crashed down through the other in a blur. As the plane was sent crashing down towards the island, they caught a glimpse of the attacker.

"Metal," Sonic said. "But I thought Metal Sonic was dead!" shouted Tails "Eggman must of brought him back." "But, why?" "I don't know.. But I'm sure we'll find out."

Sonic jumped off the plane as Tails ejected from the cockpit. Using his two tails, the fox maneuvered his way to Sonic. He grabbed a hold of the hedgehog's hands and hovered him to the ground slowly.

The metal Sonic's eye visor flashed, standing outside the door of the entrance. It taunted them by laughing mechanically and saying something rude in machine. Then it walked slowly inside the building.

As they were at the base of the fortress, A red echidna was flying in the air noticing them. "I wonder what Sonic is up to now. He better not fight Eggman before I get a hold of that pudgy bastard for stealing all my Chaos Emeralds. Hmm, maybe I'll take a short cut and get ahead of him!" The echidna landed on top of the building, then began tunneling through the roof.

It made its way right into Eggman's operations room. "Hmmm, I wonder where fat boy is." "I'm right here.." Whipping around, he saw Eggman but also, something else.

"What the?" yelled the echidna as he started to hover in the air. Eggman smirked, "Say good bye, Knuckles!" "This isn't possible! This, this can't be happening! NOOOO!" A snap was heard being made from Eggman's fingers, then Knuckles exploded into a mist of red. Evil laughter was heard booming through the building, then silence.

"W-what was that?" Tails said hiding behind sonic as they walked. Sonic replied clamly, "Not sure little buddy, but I bet we're gonna find out." "Sonic, Look out!" A blur zoomed by them, splitting the two apart. "Metal," exclaimed Sonic.

"Sonic catch!" Tails said throwing a gold ring. "Got it!" Sonic smirked as he caught it, then began to glow a beaming bright yellow. Metal stood there, then waved a finger back and forth with a hand upon its hip. "Tch, Tch," it said then began to shine a bright gray color.

"What the...?" Sonic stood there silent and dumbfounded for a moment "All right, lets get this party started! Shall we dance?" Metal replied with another one of its laughs. Growling, Sonic sped towards him with a fist outstretched to Metal's face. Metal stood still, not moving an inch. Somehow Metal dodged it, surprising Sonic who threw in another fist to the face. It caught the fist, then spun around as fast as it could, hurling him into the air. In a split second, Metal was above Sonic. Rolling into a ball it fell on top of Sonic, drilling him into the ground.

"Sonic!!!" screamed Tails rushing towards him. As he sped near the scene, a arm outstretched, catching him. Gasping he almost yelled for help, until he realized who it was. His eyes began to water, sobbing a bit. He pressed against his friend, hugging him tightly. "Knuckles, You must save Sonic!!"

Without speaking, Knuckles replied whipping away Tails' tears <Oh? I'm sure he'll be okay. It's you who needs to be saved..> "Wait...Y-you aren't Knuckles!" <I'm not? Well then who am I?> "I.. I don't know.. But you are not...kn..uck...les..." Tails yawned lightly, falling limp in the Echidna's arms. <Your right, I'm not Knuckles.>

The Knuckles figure and Tails teleported to the top of the building in Eggman's operations room. Eggman leaned back in his chair, fiddling with his mustache. "I see you have Tails, Now.. Where is my part of the deal?" Knuckles smirked as Tails vanished into thin air.

He walked slowly towards Eggman, coming to his chair. "Well?" <I don't think you are going to get your Emeralds..> "What?! I thought we had a deal!" He yelled pounding his fist into one of the arms in the chair, indenting it. "Robots! Metal Sonic!! Take care of this fool at once!" But noone came, "Where are you, you idiots!" <They're not coming..> "W-what?!?!" <I destroyed them.. Was a simple task really.. As for you.. And your pitiful dimension.. Well, its time to crack and fry the Egg...Man.>

With that Knuckles vanished. For a while nothing happened. Eggman was tense, with beads of sweat on his face. Time ticked by and still...nothing happened. He relaxed, "Phew... That lying fool... Does he think he can get away with...." Eggman froze in place, not being able to finish his sentence. Blood trickled down his forehead, he leaned forward. Falling to the ground his body was split in two from the head down. Organs and all spewed across the stone floor.

Then, the earth began to shake. A vortex was appearing in space, opening a black hole. It started to suck in the earth as well as the planets of the system into it. Next it started to consume all the solar systems of the galaxy, even the galaxy itself. Until it could take no more in, it vanished, leaving a black space behind.
