4 yrs after 02, We find the digidestined in the digital world, having a picnic to commemorate the defeat of Malomyotismon.

 

`Why did I have to hit him? He was only trying to help.' Kari thought to herself sadly. “Kari?” “Kari!” Davis said, concerned about. Kari. Ever since they arrived, she seemed tired…no more than tired, as if she'd hurt her head. Davis was walking beside her, concerned. “Kari are you ok? You seem like you have a headache or something.” “Huh? Oh don't worry about me Davis.” She said, quickly going into a happy mood and hurrying on to catch up with the group. `You don't have to act tough for me Kari, I can see straight through your mask.' Davis thought to himself sadly, knowing she wasn't ok, ever since TK broke up with her.

 

FLASHBACK: About 6 six months ago

 

Kari: “What do you mean TK?!” sobbing uncontrollably as she heard the cruel words pass through her boyfriend's mouth.

 

TK: “You heard me bitch! I have someone else. We're going out starting….now” He said as he turned and walked away. Kari just stood there crying uncontrollably. “Kari…” Davis said, hearing the whole thing only a few feet away. “Davis, what are you doing here?” trying to hold back the tears in her eyes. “Kari…I'm so sorry…” He said sweetly, allowing her to cry on his chest. After she was done she realized who she was crying on. “Davis…” She said slightly blushing. “It's okay Kari, everyone needs to let it out sometimes…Damn that TK…making the most beautiful girl in the world cry…” Davis said angrily. “Don't be angry at him…he doesn't deserve it.” “Yes he does Kari! You don't think this was YOUR fault do you?” “I said he doesn't deserve it!” She yelled angrily. As her anger built up she smacked him, really hard. After realizing what she'd done, she felt tears build up in her eyes again, and ran home crying. Davis stood there dumbfounded, slowly noticing the pain on his right cheek. `It doesn't matter what you do to me Kari.' Davis thought to himself. `I'll always love you.'

“Kari are you sure you're ok?” Davis said again, noticing Kari wasn't eating. “Yea don't worry about it Davis, I'm just not hungry.” Davis knew it wasn't true. “Hey Kari, can I talk to you for a bit in private?” Davis asked softly. “Um…sure.” `What does he want to talk to me about?' She wondered, even though she knew the answer. They found some shade under a nearby tree. “Kari, are you ok?” he asked. “Yea, I told you not to worry about me!” she said in a fake happy voice, one Davis knew all too well. “Kari…I can tell you're not really happy, you don't always have to be there for everyone, let someone be there for you.” Davis said sweetly. Kari slowly processed his words and her eyes widened. “Davis…Do you like me?” she asked unknowingly. “Kari…you're one of my best friends. Even if you don't know it you are…” “No I mean…really like me.” She interrupted. She looked down. “Kari…you should already know that…of course I do!” “You still like me after what I did to you six months ago?” she said surprisingly. “Kari…no matter what you do, I will always love you, even if it means loving you from afar, and I just want to be there for you.” He blushed madly after he realized what he said. “You…love me?” Kari asked, wide eyed and surprised. “I've…always loved you.” He said sheepishly. “Davis I-“ was all she managed before he kissed her on the lips. Noticing her surprised look, Davis quickly said “Ah…I'm sorry…” as he started to get up, that is , before Kari threw her arms around his neck crying loudly on his shoulder, pulling him back down to the ground. Davis put one of his hands on the back of her head, and the other on her back, holding her close. “I told you before, it's all right, and everyone has to let it out sometime.” Davis said, feeling a wet spot on his shoulder from the barrage of tears. “Davis…Thank you for being here for me…you're the only one that notices when I'm really sad…the truth is…I love you too Davis.” Kari said, looking up at Davis' widening eyes. “Kari…Do you really mean that?” “Of course I do…I think I first realized it when you held me after TK broke up with me.” Kari said solemnly. “I'm sorry for slapping you…I shouldn't have.”

“It's all right…I think I deserved it after trying to force you and TK apart, although I would never have done it if I knew you were going to be this depressed…I'm sorry.” Davis held Kari close to him. “Thanks Davis, I really do feel better now.” She said, smiling. “You don't know how beautiful you are when you smile like that.” Davis said, out of character, causing both of them to blush. “Kari…would you like me to be your boyfriend?” Kari stood in shock. “Davis, that would make me the happiest girl in both worlds!” she told him as she embraced him. “Kari, maybe we should be getting back, they're probably worrying about us!” Davis finally realized they had left the rest of the digidestined confused. “Oh you're right!” Kari said, blushing. “Should we tell them we're dating?” Davis asked. “We should but…I don't want to see TK.” “Don't worry…I'll protect you forever, my angel Kari.” What he said caused Kari to blush a deep shade of red. “Let's go back then.” Davis said walking next to Kari, offering his arm. Kari took her arm and placed it in his. “Let's.” With that, the new couple made their way back to their friends. “Hmph…What was that all about?!” TK shouted. “TK…Shut up.” Kari said. All of the digidestined just gaped until Tai broke the silence by laughing hysterically. “What the fuck did you say?!” TK yelled at Kari. “Never shout at Kari.” Davis said in an angry voice, surprising everyone, even Kari. “You are NOT to talk to her like that ever again.” “And just what are you going to do about it?” TK glared at Davis. “This.” Davis said, sending a swift hook to TK's temple knocking him out cold. “What the fuck?!” Matt said, getting in Davis' face. “He didn't tell you what he did to Kari did he?” Davis didn't flinch. “What do you mean?” Matt said slowly backing down. Davis explained everything that happened six months ago and that he and Kari were now dating. The group stared in shock, to hear what TK had done. “He told me Kari was cheating on him.” Matt said. “He lied.” Matt shook his head “Okay maybe he deserved that one, but don't do it again.” Matt said threateningly. “Then tell him not to talk to Kari like that.” Davis said, clenching his fist. “Or he'll have to deal with me again.” When TK finally awoke, he received many glares. “What did I do?” he shrugged. “You know damn well what you did!” Matt yelled at his little brother, shocking everyone. “Why are you two so damn close to each other?” He noticed Kari and Davis, with Kari's head resting on Davis' shoulder. “We're dating.” Davis said coldly, resulting in a surprised look on TK's face. “You two were made for each other, since both of you can't do shit without their friends.” “I warned you not to talk to Kari like that.” Davis said standing up, ready for a fight. “This time you won't catch me off guard.” TK said. “Good you might be a challenge then.” Davis quickly dodged a punch and kicked TK in the stomach, causing him to fall, trying desperately to catch his breath. “Or not.” He said, looking at TK's fallen body. Davis turned around walking away, when TK pulled out a knife and rushed Davis. His arm was caught by none other than his brother, who punched his temple knocking him out again. “Thanks, Matt.” Davis said, grateful for what he'd done, even knowing it was his brother. “No prob…I wanted to do that anyway.” Matt said, sitting back down. “Ok…well this was a good and bad day.” Tai said, finally breaking the ice. “Is anyone up for another try next week?” Mimi said, talking for the first time in the entire picnic. “As long as we don't have to see TK.” Kari and Davis said in unison. “Ok, we should get going…” Davis said, many of them agreeing. “Kari, Davis? Could you two leave first? Something tells me TK will want to get back at you as soon as he wakes up.” Sora said. “Sounds like a good idea…Hey Kari, since it's still early want to get some lunch?” Davis asked his girlfriend. “I'd love to…I am getting kind of hungry.” Kari said sheepishly. They walked together, with Kari resting her head on Davis' shoulder, smiling.

 

 

(A little while later, we see Davis driving Kari around)

 

“What would you like to eat? I know this town like the back of my hand, and I swear if I don't know someone than can cook it well, I'll cook it myself!” Davis said proudly. “Hehehehehe…In that case why don't we go back to your place and relax? I can help you cook!” Kari said. “Don't worry about it! I'm a pretty good cook, I learned when I was 7.” Davis said surprising Kari. “When you were 7?! Why did you cook when you were 7?” Kari asked. “Well…let's just say my childhood wasn't exactly perfect.” Davis said solemnly. Kari, knowing she had hit a sensitive subject, decided to leave it alone. “Oh, I'm sorry Davis.” she said sadly. “Don't worry about it, you didn't know.” Davis said, surprising Kari. “I never knew you were so understanding!” Kari said excitedly. “Huh?” Davis looked a bit confused. “Normally if someone hit a touchy subject you'd bite their head off!” reminding him of when he nearly punched Tai when he was making fun of him about Kari a few years ago. “I couldn't ever be angry at you.” making Kari blush. “I beg to differ!” she said. Suddenly, he remembered all the fights they had when they were little. “Well, those were…just to hide how I really felt about you.” Blushing himself this time. “Aw…You're so sweet Davis.” She said, kissing him lightly on his cheek. By the time they'd finished reminiscing, they had arrived at Davis' house.

 

(Inside Davis' house)

 

“My family's gone for the weekend, they went to visit Jun in college, they probably won't be back until late tomorrow.” Davis said. “Is there anything you'd like to eat?” he asked Kari, remembering he had offered to make her lunch. “Um…I guess a hamburger and some fries.” She replied a bit shyly. Davis was shocked. “Are you kidding? That's my specialty!” he exclaimed. “Really?” She said. A bit surprised herself. While he was making lunch, she decided to wander around his house. “Wow…whose room is this?” she wondered as she came into a room with almost any trophy you could imagine on many shelves across the room. “Mine.” Davis said, sneaking up behind her. “Eek!” she yelped at Davis' sneakiness. “Umm….Lunch's done.” He walked her out to the dining room, which she had to admit she had one of the best meals of her life. “That was really good!” she complimented Davis. “Thanks.” He blushed at the compliment. “Were all of those your trophies?” she asked about the room. “Yea…some things I used to do before I became a digidestined.” “Some?! There were at least 30 trophies in your room! There' something you aren't telling me, what is it?” Davis sighed. “Ok, but promise you won't tell anyone ok?” “I promise.” “When I was a kid, I was really smart, even when I was traveling around as a digidestined.” “How smart?” “You wouldn't believe me.” “Try me! Izzy's IQ was around 175! I got a 165 last time I took one, how bad could it be? “I scored a 225.” Kari gasped in shock. “A…225?!” “I told you you wouldn't believe me.” He smiled. “I believe you, just. Wow! You're a genius!” She exclaimed. “I never really acted like myself around anyone, but I think Izzy knew the whole time.” “Hey Davis?” “Yea Kari?” He looked over at her, but was surprised when their lips locked in a passionate kiss, their tongues feeling each other as they explored each other's mouths. Davis opened his eyes and stared into Kari's seemingly endless brown eyes. “Your eyes are beautiful.” He whispered into her ear. “Yours aren't bad to look at either.” she said, returning the whisper, causing Davis to blush. “Kari…I love you.” “I love you too Davis…Be right back ok? I'm gonna call Tai and see if I can spent the night here.” Kari said, making Davis blush. `Was she saying?...” He thought to himself, eyes widening. “Tai said it's ok, he understood when I said that I didn't want to be near TK. `Oh so that's the-` Davis's thoughts were cut off as she kissed him deeply. She broke away from the kiss and said “But that's not the only reason.” Davis grinned.
