A New Generation
Disclaimer: I do NOT own Digimon! Some very fortunate person somewhere out there does! But the extra characters are mine! Touch them and you shall face my wrath!
Note: This takes part after 02, in which the ending of 02 didn't happen. This story was done by me and a friend of mine. New character profiles are in the next chapter. This is still part of the prologue… the real action comes in the further chapters.
Prologue : When the Digidestined kids saved the Digital World for the second time, they thought the threat was all over and that they could live a normal life again, without the Digital Monsters. True enough, they were wrong.
Twenty three years later, the former Digidestined kids are all grown up and living peacefully. But unknown to them, evil dwells in the very shadows of the Digital World. Soon, the Digital World will be in peril once again, but are the new chosen Digidestined kids up to the challenge?
Chapter 2 - STILL the beginning
*Ichijouji Residence, main hall*
"Izzy! What do you mean you can't explain this?!" Tai roared at the top of his voice. He felt like yelling his anger and frustration out till his throat burst.
Izzy frowned, his fingers were still tirelessly typing away on the keys of his laptop. Everyone else, especially the adults in the room were panicking visibly, worried about their children's safety. The Digital World had never even once been a safe place, it may have been fun, but it was dead dangerous and they all knew that from their own experience there.
"I told you, Tai! Gennai only asked me to get you guys to bring the Digivices! He never said anything about kidnapping our children!" Izzy said as Tai paced around him and the computer in semicircles, obviously working his mind to think of a solution; a way to return their kids. He couldn't of course blame this incident on Izzy. His nine-year-old son was pulled into the Digital World as well.
Sora came over to her husband. There wasn't even a trace of panic on her face, only a worried expression. Maybe she was confident enough that her sons could protect themselves. They, of course, had inherited Tai's genes. Actually, that could be something to be really worried about. After all, everyone knows what sort of reckless actions is Tai capable of doing.
"Tai," she said worriedly. "Matt's having a fit back there. Yui's gonna kill him."
Tai looked at her gravely. Matt certainly was in a tight spot now. Although he's divorced; like his parents, his son's mother had already given him an early strict warning about not getting their only child involved with all his Digimon stuff.
"But there's nothing we can do for him at the moment. Calm him down, and if you must, tell Yui about this. She has the right to know." Sora threw a desperate glance behind her. Matt was in a chair, his face buried in his hands, with T.K and Kari beside him trying to convince him that everything will be all right.
But how do they know if everything was alright? Izzy couldn't contact the kids or the old goat who sent their children into that dangerous dimension. A possible solution suddenly struck Tai like a fierce hurricane in his mind. The former Digidestined were in the room at the exact moment! Why didn't he think of it earlier?
"Izzy!" Tai yelled excitedly and jumped to Izzy's side, ignoring the fact that there's a chair he could sit on and not have to stand. "Is it possible if we go in there and find them?”
Izzy stopped typing a moment and shook his head sadly saying, "I've checked. The Digiport isn't open and I can very well assume it can't be. At least not by us anymore.”
Tai bowed his head in defeat and sank into the chair beside him, overcame by grief. There really isn't another way, is there? Being unable to do anything to protect his children suddenly made him feel weak. But he had to be strong. He must not give up for the sake of his children.
*somewhere else in the room…*
Davis found himself staring at the wall, mind blank with worry. His wife was still attached to him, clinging onto his limp lifeless hand at his sides, worried sick about their daughter.
"Davis!"
Davis let out a desperate sigh and turned around to look at one very depressed Yolei. She appeared to be scared about something, but Davis had a funny feeling it has partly nothing to do with the absence of the kids.
"Davis, where's Ken!?" Yolei nearly screamed. "He's missing, I don't see him anywhere and I can't find him!"
Davis looked at her weirdly. "How would I know where he is? He should be somewhere here."
Yolei glared at him. She felt the sudden urge to stomp on his feet and make him cry. "But you're his best friend!" she said, now yelling, causing Davis to back away a bit in an attempt to save his eardrums. The room may be noisy and restless, but he wasn't in the mood to be yelled at. He returned her glare with one of his own.
"Yolei, I'm his best friend. Who are you?" he asked in a calm, but impatient voice. "You're his freaking wife! And we're in YOUR house!"
Yolei suddenly smiled embarrassedly and laughed nervously as her brain clicked back into its rightful place. "Oh, I kinda forgot about that…" Davis gave her a very sarcastic laugh as she ran off to find her husband.
*yet somewhere else in the room…*
T.K was leaning against the wall wondering if everything would turn out fine as it should be. He turned to his right and smiled at his wife. She wasn't so worried about the children yet. Kari was more concerned about what would happen to Matt when his wife finds out what had recently took place.
T.K could hear Matt mumbling feverishly to himself. The singer was still in the chair, and he would do random strange things like hit himself every once in a while. "Bro, they'll be alright," T.K assured his elder brother. "You were they're age when we first went there. They can watch out for themselves. Trust them, it's the best thing you can do now."
Matt gazed up at his younger sibling's determined face. Matt looked almost hopeful upon hearing what T.K said. He smiled weakly and nodded. "Thanks, T.K."
T.K looked surprised. "For what?" he asked.
Matt's lips curled even more and he now had a big smile on his face. "For being here for me, T.K," he said. T.K returned the smile, relieved that Matt was starting to calm down a little. He was about to say that it was nothing and as a brother, it's only wise for him to say so. But his thoughts were interrupted when Izzy suddenly yelled across the room.
*the main attraction of the room….*
"I've got them! I found their location!" Izzy exclaimed excitedly, drawing everyone's attention almost immediately. The other Digidestined rushed over to his sides. Ken and Yolei had returned; after Yolei found her husband lurking among the flowers outside praying that his eldest son and daughter would safely return to him.
Izzy smiled at the former Digidestined and pointed a finger at the screen of his laptop and said, "They are safe, as you can see here."
"Can you bring them back?" Joe asked anxiously, fearing the worst to come, but Izzy continued to smile and he gave them all a thumbs up.
"In a flash," the genius replied and began to work on the laptop again. "This shouldn't take very long guys, so relax." Joe and the others sighed in relief. The dark blue haired man rearranged his glasses, which had slid off his nose during all the excitement.
Sure enough, a minute later, Izzy announced that he will be returning the kids back. With a hard tap on one of the laptop keys, the screen lighted up and a bright blinding light filled every corner and crack of the room.
As the light faded and the Digidestined, temporarily blinded, regained their sight, they noticed the group of kids before their very eyes, each of them accompanied by a Digimon. Everyone had expected this would happen. Their children were now the new Digidestined warriors, taking over the duty to protect the Digital World.
Note: I know…. The chapter is short…. It's just to complete the prologue properly… Like I said above, the action begins in further chapters…
