The Picture

It was too nice to stay indoors. Taking in a deep breath as she stepped off the subway, Aiko felt a smile slip across her features. Just to think that in mere months she would be an adult and leaving High School was enough to make her cheerful. She glanced behind her, laughing as she called “Saboru-kun! Hurry up!”

The cheerful ray of sunlight had finally gotten the skulking male to come with her on a trip to the park. Aiko grabbed his hand once he was close enough, dragging him along behind as usual.

“Why did we have to come to this park?” Jun asked, frowning behind his glasses as he kept up with the fast pace that Aiko set for them. “It's all the way across town!”

“Don't question my motives!” Aiko teased, shaking a finger at him as she paused for the light. “Besides, this park is better than any others I've seen!” Sure, she was exaggerating a little, but she was going to use anything to get the boy to come with her. It had been months since the Digital World had been saved, finally, and things were getting back to normal. Though some of the other Digidestined were a little nervous around the ex-servant to the Digimon Lord, Aiko had willingly become his friend, against the voices of others.

It was this that made the pair special as she led him into the park. Colors were slowly coming to the leaves as a huge smile spread across her lips. “See why?” She cried, letting go of his hand as she stretched her arms out, spinning around with a laugh. “Look at these colors!”

A small smile crept onto his features as he watched Aiko spin. “It is pretty here, I guess,” He admitted, shrugging his shoulders.

“Perfect moment for a picture!”

“What?”

“You heard me,” Aiko pulled her digital camera from her pink purse, turning it on with a grin. “You know you want to!” She gave a sly grin as she hurried over to where Jun was.

“No, I don't like pictures Aiko-chan!” Jun backed away, holding his hands up, as if to defend himself from the bubbly girl and her camera. “Believe me, I'm not very, uh, photogenic!”

“Nonsense!” After going through more protests, Jun found himself trapped. Aiko slung her arm around his neck. “Say cheese!” There was a flash as the camera went off.

Giggling to herself, Aiko pulled away as she went through the pictures to find the one she had just taken. “It's a keeper!” She told him in a triumphant tone, showing him the slightly lopsided photo of the two.

Only a few weeks later had Jun opened his locker to find the said picture taped to the door inside. There was a note from Aiko attached to it.

I thought you'd like a copy. I really like this picture, don't you? Well, I'll see you in Japanese History!

Love from Aiko

He found himself smiling lightly, despite himself as he closed his locker.
