Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ All you wanted... ❯ All you wanted... ( Prologue )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Salutations fellow readers. Yet again another fic from me. I hope this will be a satisfactory read for most of you. This is a (you guessed it!) a Takari and a Romance/Drama and a little side order of comedy. All comments and criticism are welcome. Uh, never was good at this Authors Notes and all so, on with the show.

Happy reading!

P.S. For the readers of 'You were meant for me…' SOOO Sorry about the delay! I have massive writers block for that fic! Nothing that comes to my head seems to fit the story properly. Sorry for the extended delay, again. Hopefully, I'll have it up soon…feel free to e-mail any ideas or comments.

All you wanted…

Sunday..........5:37pm

Blizzard Blue. Though the weather was not quite that cold, the sky was that perfect colour; blizzard blue. Lightly tinted blue with a sparkle that made the sky sing. But the horizon sang a different song; a feverish red and fainting orange. The leaves that flew by camouflaged with the coloured horizon. And a youth, a boy, with hair that compromised the colour of the sun leaned against wires of the steel fence. His face carried a tense look; something that was a stranger to him. He looked like he had the...

"...weight of the world on you, Takeru." Iori observed as he noticed his friend's odd expression.

"Huh?" Takeru turned his head noticing the remark, "Something like that." he sighed unhappily.

"What's eating your nerves?" Iori tapped his shoulder.

"It's...nothing."

Not wanting to press on any further, Iori took his response for what it was. He sighed himself. Takeru was like the older brother that he lacked through his 12 years of existence. A role model; he didn't smoke, drink, do drugs, hardly swore, was polite, smart, strong, athletic, and a genuinely nice guy; everything that he wanted to be and more. But seeing him like this, finding a weakness didn't settle well with him. He was like Superman to him. His weakness was his complication; complicated in the fact that it seemed so easy to fix, but fabricated so there was always that unbreakable glass wall surrounding it. So close, yet so far.

It was all about her. That one perplexing figure that shook his world, that brought him to his knees, and caused him the most pain.

Iori watched Takeru as the look of longing in his eyes was evident as he gazed at the object of his affection.

"I don't understand what she sees in him either." Iori flicked pieces of bark from the tree. "He's an ass." he spat bitterly.

"Don't say that." Takeru lightly smacked the back of his head, "If she's happy with him, he must be doing something right." he spoke the last part indefinitely.

"I'm sure..." Iori's eyes rolled as his sarcastic remark flew out of his mouth. "He doesn't deserve that kind of love that Hikari gives him." he remarked, "He's an ass."

Takeru sighed and gave his young friend a defeated look and continued to gaze at Hikari and her boyfriend.

"She should be with you. You're not an ass." Iori mumbled.

Takeru's ears perked and grinned at the remark. He's so young… he thought and laughed at Iori's innocence. If only he knew just how complicated it really was.

"Forget it Ace, let's finish our game." Takeru shook his head gripping the orange basketball in hand. "I'll show you how you really dunk a ball." He hid his feelings under a cocky smile.

"Are you happy?" Takeru asked with serious eyes.

"I am." Hikari's answer was questionable.

"Really?"

"Yes."

His face fell and he turned his head slightly. He licked his lips and took a deep breathe before facing her again. "Then I'm happy for you too." He desperately tried to make his face smile for her.

"Thank you, Takeru. You don't know what this means to me." She breathed a sigh of relief as she pulled her best friend into a tight embrace.

There was nothing he could do but hug back, just as tightly. He breathed her in and sighed inwardly.

"Don't worry Takeru, he treats me well." she breathed.

"But I'd treat you like a queen." he whispered into her ear. Her face flushed and she slowly broke the hug looking him in the eye. He didn't hide anything. He didn't want to scare her, but he didn't want to lie either. It didn't matter anyhow, she had already made her decision and she had turned him down before and seemed...content with her choice.

"I know. I'm sorry." her eyes almost teary, but she held them back. She leaned up and kissed his cheek lightly before retreating to her boyfriend.

Takeru watched her with eyes of longing. Her pink summer dress flowing as she jogged towards her boyfriend. The yellow and pink balloons waved in the air, the occasional one slipping away from their knotted position. Everyone was full of joy, laughing and talking together; singing and playing together. But not him. He was trying his best, but he just hurt.

Seeing her in someone else's arms tore him apart inside. But he never blamed her, he blamed himself. He felt as if there was something wrong with him. Maybe he wasn't handsome enough, maybe he wasn't smart enough, or maybe he just wasn't good enough.

Someday...he thought to himself, But for now, if you're happy, then so am I

"Happy Birthday, Hikari." he said silently as he watched the two of them embrace. He put his hands in his pocket and looked up at the summer sky.

"Someday..."
