All you wanted...
Chapter 2: Monday morning
Monday.....7:00am
Takeru woke up surprisingly early. He even beat his alarm clock before it rang. He groggily stepped out of his bed and made his way towards the bathroom for his morning shower.
Bacon and toast was the aroma that filled his apartment home when he emerged from the bathroom still dripping wet from his shower. He had a towel wrapped around his waist as he made his way towards his room. The water dripped past his bicep and over the muscular curves of his chest and abdomen before taking a separate towel to completely dry himself.
He noticed a little bump on the side of his bed that could belong only to Patamon. His digimon partner was still sound asleep under the covers and Takeru silently envied his little friend. He smiled anyway at the little orange bat-pig. He was his first very best friend -non-human- and they had been through so much together.
"Breakfast, honey." His mothers' voice echoed through the hall. She seemed a little rushed.
"Coming…" his answer came out more of a yawn than anything else. He picked up his little digi-friend being careful not to wake him as he attempted to fix his bed. He set the sleeping Patamon somewhat balanced on his head and smoothed out the bed. He then set his still sleeping friend on the pillowed cushions. Not even the slightest action indicated that he was conscious. Patamon could sleep through any natural disaster and Takeru knew it.
He took his time putting on his uniform starting with a cotton undershirt and grey slacks. He grabbed a white school shirt from his closet and a blazer and tucked them under his arm. With his free hand grabbed his bookbag and shook his head fiercely trying to get the excess water out.
"Lets go Takeru...and stop that, you're not a dog." his mother commented as she appeared at his door post with her work suite on and briefcase in hand. "I have to leave for work. Breakfast is on the table okay."
"Mm-hm." Takeru nodded and followed her outside.
"Now hurry up."
"Okay, okay." he nodded again and leaned down to accept the kiss on the cheek his mother always gave him everyday since he could remember.
"Love you dearly *mwah*" he cringed his face a little in good fun, "and don't be late!" she said sternly and ran out the door.
He shut the door and turned his direction to the breakfast on the table. He sat his things on the chair next to him and began his day.

Monday......8:00am
Takeru arrived at school early. He ascended towards his locker and proceeded to open it. Inside he took his hat off his head and hung it on one of the miniature racks. Digging through his bag, he took out two large text books and shoved them in the back of his locker. He let out another yawn escape his mouth.
Recently, he couldn't seem to stay awake in any class, even English, one of his favourite subjects. He was still getting used to coming back to school and those summer days were still lingering in him vying for him to crawl back to bed. He resisted the urges of staying in bed, but those same demons would haunt him again in his more important classes such as Mathematics and the Sciences -particularly Chemistry and Biology. The last couple of days, he'd barely been able to finish the notes, let alone study for the quiz that accompanied them the day after. He must have been lucky that day for he actually finished the last math test and with quite the satisfactory mark of 89%.
He closed his locker and looked around. Only a few people were there and they were all sitting around or near their lockers. The rest must have been in the cafeteria or outside enjoying the still beautiful weather. He decided to stay inside and sit in front of his locker as well as the few others that were around the area. He set his bag on his lap and took out his math notebook. He concentrated on some of the examples and notes aware that the teacher would most likely pull out another pop quiz; especially since his class was particularly one of the noisiest classes. Trig ratios, SOH-CAH-TOA, terminal arm, trig identities...he nearly fell asleep again feeling his eyelids begin to connect to the bottom of his eyes.
*SLAP*
A swift and sharp hand came across the side of his head
"Ow!" he winced in pain as he was rudely awaken. He grabbed the side of his head and looked up at the culprit already balling one of his hands into a fist ready to strike. But instead of following up with his intent to punch, he was now face to face with the slightly devilish grin that could only belong to one person:
"DAISUKE! What the hell's your problem?!" Takeru shouted.
Daisuke grinned wider and took a seat next to Takeru. "Dude, you were totally zoning out!" he laughed.
"Awgh...you didn't have to smack me that hard." Takeru finished rubbing his head and continued to look over his notebook.
Daisuke gave him a wry look, "What, no counter strike? What's the matter PK?" he slightly snorted at the old childish teasing that never died.
Takeru didn't answer for a while which worried Daisuke a little. He was no longer focused on the notebook a moment ago, but instead he was staring at a different direction. His eyes almost in a steady trance and a glint of something that looked like sadness.
"I'll raincheck that Dai..." he said almost absently.
"Dude, what's the matter?" Daisuke snapped his finger in front of his face, and when there was no response, Daisuke followed where Takeru's eyes were fixed on. "Aw no..." he sighed spotting a somewhat delighted Hikari draped on the arm of her boyfriend. He looked at his friend beside him who was still staring at them obliviously. "Forget about it man, it's her decision. It's her life." he said putting on a set of earphones allowing himself to be drowned in the playing of various rocker bands.
Daisuke himself was not pleased with the choice that Hikari made, but he came to terms with it. It was her decision after all and he accepted that, no matter how much he hated him.
"I know. I know." Takeru said unwearyingly as he continued to look over his notes, occasionally peeking at her.
~*~*~
She wore a bright smile on her face as she held the arm of her recent boyfriend, Tomoko Ikeda. His short jet-black hair was slightly spiked upwards and his eyes an unusual grey colour. He stood just about two or three inches below Takeru, and shared the same homeroom as him and Hikari. The star football player and was one of the many object of affection of the girls in the school.
Hikari was stunned when he had asked her out. She was shocked; no one besides Daisuke had openly or eagerly courted her before, so she accepted. But that was the day before Takeru had finally found the courage to ask her out. The day before he had carefully rehearsed what exactly he was going to say and do. The day before he had spent his last three pay checks on a simple golden ring with her crest symbol custom designed on the centerpiece. They day before he would say he loved her.
But she didn't know that. Fate just brought Tomoko a day earlier and set Takeru a day too late. And so she was with Tomoko since the spring.

Homeroom......8:27am
Takeru was right about the pop quiz. His teacher peered into the door and announced a pop quiz as soon as he finished photocopying them which left the class about 5 minutes to cram in the first four chapters of trig. Takeru only anticipated these quizzes as he was thankful that he had gotten that chance to study a few minutes before class started, unlike one of his more scatterbrained friends, ie Daisuke.
Poor Daisuke, he had a chance to study alongside Takeru but drowned himself in his heavy metal and air guitar in the hall. Here he was now sitting in front of Takeru frantically reading his notebook and beckoning Takeru to quiz him.
"sin²q + cos²q equals what?" Takeru took a random question from his head.
Daisuke in obvious panic jittered at his seat, "uh....tan²q " he gave him a hopeful look.
"One" Takeru frowned.
"Dammit Takeru, I'm gonna fail this!"
"Relax Dai, just look over the notes again, you'll be fine."
"Hey I got an idea how 'bout you slip me your paper while the teacher's not looking and I slip you mine??" Daisuke pleaded.
"Dai, you'll be fine. Don't worry too much and just read the notes." He tried to reassure his panic-stricken friend.
"Easy for you to say." Daisuke mumbled under his breathe. But Takeru didn't hear it, he was too busy looking the other direction where Hikari was sitting beside Tomoko. She seemed as if she wasn't even worried about the quiz. She just sat there smiling and laughing with him who seemed just as sure of himself as usual.
Takeru frowned. He knew that Mathematics was not one of Hikari's stronger subjects and in any other circumstance, she'd be beside him and Daisuke studying frantically. But, he, Tomoko, he'd changed her somehow. She was less concerned about her studies and more focused on him; something that didn't sit well with any of her friends -that also included her digital friends, ie, Tailmon who strongly disapproved of "that narcissistic pig" which she'd call him behind Hikari's back- let alone Takeru.
She turned her head for a moment and noticed Takeru staring at her. She waved and smiled at him. His face softened a little, but instead of waving back, he pointed at his math book and said, "Pop quiz!"
Her eyes widened a little in fear, but a hand on her shoulder from Tomoko wiped it away. Tomoko gently nudged her and smiled. She looked up and smiled at him as she took her bag and made her way back to her proper desk, diagonally in front of Daisuke.
Takeru cringed narrowing his eyes at him. Tomoko gave him a similar look, then washed it away with a triumphant grin making Takeru's blood boil inside. He swallowed his rage and turned away going back to helping Daisuke.
Their teacher came back inside with a pile of photocopied papers in his hand. He ordered for everyone to clear their tables and began handing the papers face down.
"Don't turn the papers over until I say so. Only a pencil, eraser, calculator and ruler are allowed and keep eyes on your own papers!"
"Papers? As in more than one page?" Daisuke looked at the teacher in shock.
"It's only two pages Daisuke." The teacher sighed as he handed the final paper out. "You may begin, you have 30 minutes tops."
The entire class turned them over in unison with several groans as well.
"Sir, it's out of 30?!" Daisuke exclaimed. "I thought you said it was a quiz!"
"Think of it as a quiz/test. A quest." He said in delight. Then the entire class groaned and Daisuke slumped to the bottom of his desk.
Scanning all the questions, the class knew that, for the majority, it would take more than the estimated time to finish the "quest". That evil teacher had compiled most of it with Trig identities, something that confused the class the last lesson.
Takeru was thankful that he decided to do the homework. He was finished the first page quickly and was well of to the next page in only 8 minutes. Daisuke on the other hand was still struggling with the second question clicking at his calculator. Takeru looked up at the teacher who was busy looking over his lesson plan. He leaned forward and whispered, " 47.7 degrees".
A smile flickered on Daisuke's face as he went on to the nest question. Takeru went back to his own paper diligently and flew through the questions. He noticed that the entire quiz was based on the homework and worked them through in almost half the time. He looked back at Daisuke who had finally made it to the second page after 15 minutes. He saw the poor boy tense up at the sight of the questions.
Takeru took a quick look around to make sure no one was looking and nudged the boy on the back. "Switch papers with me." he whispered and Daisuke's head went up briefly. He too took a look around and saw everyone studying intently at the paper and luckily the teacher with his back turned writing out notes on the board. Daisuke silently slid his paper behind him and accepted Takeru's. Daisuke took a glance at Takeru's paper and noticed that he had already finished. Not wanting to look conspicuous, he picked up his pencil and pretended to write.
Takeru in the mean while was finishing off the final question 3 minutes before time was over. He looked over the paper briefly to make sure of the answers. He purposely left a few mistakes so the teacher wouldn't get suspicious when marking the paper.
"Time's up. Please hand the papers down from the person behind you." The teacher ordered. Both boys issued a quiet sigh of relief as the teacher did not collect them himself. Takeru did however look across to find Hikari still scrambling to finish her paper.
The teacher was now at her side with the rest of the quizzes in hand. "Ms. Yagami, please hand in your paper." he ordered.
Hikari sighed and handed him the unfinished paper. The teacher took a quick look and shook his head. Hikari bit her lip and put her head on the table.

Briiiiiiing.....
"And remember your unit test is next class" the teacher announced as the kids were emptying the class.
"I gotta get to Phys Ed, I'll see you later Takeru, Dai." Hikari waved at the two as she briskly made her way out the door, but not before accepting a hand from her boyfriend. Takeru growled slightly.
"Forget it, buddy, she'll come to soon and then nothing can stop us from pummelling that jerk." Daisuke smirked and elbowed Takeru slightly. "I'll see you around TP." Daisuke laughed and ran out the class for his next one.
Takeru was about to leave when the teacher stopped him at the door.
"Hai Fujikawa-sensai?" Takeru was a little stunned.
"I want to talk to you for a second."
"Okay, about what?"
"About your quiz. I saw you cheat." he said sternly.
Takeru's eyes widened. Oh shit...
"I wasn't cheating sensai, I was..." but he couldn't give away Daisuke.
"Yes Takeru, you were what?"
Takeru just stood still and looked down. "Nothing, I'm sorry sensai..."
Mr. Fujikawa sighed, "Takeru, you are one of my top students right now, what happened?"
He had no answer which disappointed the teacher more so. "Very well, I won't count this quiz for you..."
Takeru looked at him with surprise.
"...but I cannot let this go unpunished." he finished, "You will serve detention in this class everyday after school for one hour each for the rest of the week."
"But sir...!" He objected.
"No excuses, I will see you here after school Takeru. End of argument!" Mr. Fujikawa ended it there and headed straight out the door.
"Yes sir..." he answered to no one in particular. Daisuke was his friend, but he was going to wring his neck at lunch time, their next encounter. He glanced at the clock and noticed the time; he'd be late for chemistry if he wasn't quick.
"Shit..." he grabbed the remaining of his belongings and ran out the door.
to be continued...
