Chapter 2: Past Lives and Tortures

 

Author's note: Hello, there! I'm back to writing. Sorry for taking so long to update because I am now busy at school, writer's block and my own computer had an internet breakdown. As for this chapter, I chose Dobermon to be a guide of Digital Hell because he's the only good demonic hellhound in the story. And a word of warning, there will be disturbing parts of the chapter and so please, read with care!

As Renamon was escorted by the celestial guards through the pathway of Digital Hell, and upon reaching their destination, the two Deva Celestial guards left her to the unknown figure blending through the shadows of Digital Hell.

 

“She seeks Beelzemon…” Vajiramon told the shadowy figure, “Please guide her through Hell while we get back to our job…”

 

Then, as the mysterious figure agreed, the two Deva guards left them on their own, Renamon turned to the figure, “who are you?”

 

The figure stepped out of the shadows revealing a familiar digimon she had encountered before in Human World, “I'm Dobermon, your guide of Digital Hell. I know you have come to help Beelzemon out of Hell to aid the tamers against the D-Reaper. Don't worry, you'll return to the Human World and you will protect your tamer.”

 

“Dobermon, let me ask you a question, how is Alice? I wonder what had happen to her before she became a spirit. I hope she rests in peace…” Renamon asked the hellhound digimon.

 

Dobermon gave a long sigh, “She is now resting in Human Heaven where the human souls dwell there. At that time when the D-Reaper first reached Tokyo, she was enjoying herself at a midnight party when the D-reaper came gushing in engulfing the home. She ran out of the house but she tripped, fell to the ground and sprained her ankle. Being too helpless to get up, she was completely engulfed. Soon, she was having an out-of-body experience when she encountered me trotting around in Shinjuku when I was on the search for the tamers since I was sent by the Digital Gods…”

 

“…And that's when you met us and then you sacrificed yourself to give us the powers…” Renamon finished the sentence.

 

“Yes…” Dobermon nodded his head, “by the way, if you want to appeal to the Judge about Beelzemon, please follow me…”

 

Renamon agreed and followed him to the pathway of Digital Hell. Along the way, she saw various digimon of different shapes and sizes crossing the two bridges. On one bridge, she also saw a Gazimon with dark sunglasses stumbled on the path, beaten up by a demon and it was thrown off to the murky gloomy depths in the river of blood with lots of bones floating in it.

 

Renamon turned to the hell hound digimon who was standing there, “Dobermon, what is going on?”

 

“This is the Digital Bridge of Futility, the redeemed digimon cross it safely but the purely wicked digimon fall off quickly” Dobermon explained then he pointed out with his paw, “you just saw a wicked digimon fall off just now.”

 

“How wicked is he?”

 

“He was the chief Gazimon and he used to work for Etemon as a mercenary after he was lured for money from his greed so he bullied all the helpless digimon when he was alive.”

 

“Oh, yes. I've heard about the Digital Bridge of Futility which every spirit must cross when they come to Digital Hell” said Renamon.

 

“There are two bridges in all. On the left is the Digital Golden Bridge in which we had crossed just now. And on the right is the Digital Bridge of Futility. The good digimon walk on the Digital Golden Bridge leading to Digital Heaven and the reincarnation but the digimons who have always been wicked and scheming are sent to cross the Digital Bridge of Futility before seeing the Judge. As the bridge is very slippery, the spirits often fall into the river of blood. Once in the river, the poisonous snakes will bite them.” Dobermon explained as he pointed out to the drowning Gazimon was thrashing in the bloody waters and crying out in pain while the snakes savagely bit its body.

 

“And that means the good will be rewarded and the bad will be punished. When that happens is just a matter of time”

 

“Renamon, when you return to the Human World, please remember the Digital Bridge of Futility…”

 

“I definitely will…”

 

Then the duo went to the most eerie, gloomy and cold desolate barren landscape with swirling foggy mists littered with bones with carrion birds pecking on it, the guts were strung up on blood-soaked dead branches and dried blood was soaked on the rocky grounds everywhere.

 

“Where are we?” Renamon asked Dobermon while her body shivered and gritted her teeth.

 

“We're entering into The 10 Levels of Digital Hell. Have no fear, Renamon” Dobermon reassured her, “you'll be safe when I lead the way.”

 

And so they walked on the barren landscape entering through the torture chambers.

 

In Hell, sufferings never cease,

In darkness, light is not seen.

Hundreds of thousands of disasters in the mortal world,

Are but half a night in the torture chamber.

Upon reaching the gates, Dobermon turned to the humanoid fox digimon, “Renamon, this is The 10 levels of Digital Hell. The very mention of its name strikes in the hearts of the digimons. When a wicked digimon dies, which level of Hell it's sent to will depend on what it has done.”

 

“With so many digimon in Digital World, how do you keep track of each digimon's misdeeds?”

 

“Digital Hell has the Mirror of Sins and the Judge is in charge of this.” Dobermon pointed to the guilty digimon looking at the mirror which reflected on its deeds, “Those who have done evil when they were alive will be brought before the mirror when they die. The mirror will reveal their evil deeds so there is no hiding from it.”

 

Then they reached to the steel doors, Dobermon pointed out to Renamon, “This is the first level of Digital Hell, Chamber of Thunder…”

 

As the doors opened, they heard a loud clash of thunder and they saw a digimon from season one, Piedmon was chained on the pillar with the spikes surrounding him when the lightning zapped his body with a charge of electricity burning his muscles over and over again. Then a demon swung the spikes with all its might slashing the clown digimon's body and after that, he was dissolved into bloody mass. And then, the demon regenerated the blood into a solid form and tortured him again.

 

“You see, Renamon. This digimon was one of the four dark masters of Digital World; he killed some brave innocent digimons when they defended the Digidestineds from being killed. And also he massacred the digital people who looked after the digieggs long time ago and when he was about to smash the digieggs, one of the Digital people (who was Gennai) was still alive and defended them and after that, Gennai fled to the safest place to raise them. When he took over as a ruler, all he ever did was leave a mass of destruction and genocide. Adding to that, he almost killed the two younger digidestineds…”

 

“Ahhh…I remember that…” Renamon spoke up, “I have seen him doing this atrocious deed on TV when I was watching Digimon Adventure together with Rika…”

 

“Yes, Renamon.” Dobermon agreed with her, “Digimons who kill others and commit heinous crimes out of greed and bloodlust are sent here for this punishment.”

 

“Can the digimons defend themselves?” Renamon asked the hellhound digimon guide.

 

“Not anymore…” Dobermon shook his head slowly, “once they reach Digital Hell, their powers are gone so they are left completely weak and helpless to fight back and also instead of exploding into data, they bleed here…”

 

Then, when they came across the second chamber, Dobermon exclaimed to her, “There you are in the second level of Digital Hell, Chamber of Flames, this is where the greedy and lustful digimons who kill anyone for pleasure.”

 

The duo saw another digimon from season one, Kokatorimon was struggling uselessly in the demon's strong arms and was tied up on the stake. Then, the demon lit up the fire on the stake burning the chicken digimon in which it turned into a cooked fried chicken but the demon solidified it and tortured it again.

 

Dobermon explained, “This digimon was another mercenary of Etemon, he lured the Digidestineds to the cruise liner and captured all the boys and tried to bake them in the hot burning sun in the desert. Then, he took their crests out of greed but when he tried to capture the girls who were having a shower, he was also a pervert as well…”

 

“…And he deserved it by being a cooked chicken…” Renamon finished her sentence with dry humor.

 

The duo walked on and there they came across the third torture chamber where the walls were frozen with ice and the chamber was colder than the Artic and Icedevimon's attack that Renamon was shivering and her teeth were chattering while Dobermon remained stoic.

 

“This…” Dobermon explained with his icy breath, “…is the Chamber of Ice, this third level of Digital Hell's torture chamber is where the evil digimon bring the world into destruction…”

 

Then, Dobermon pointed out which the scene showed a digimon he referred to earlier was Etemon. The digimon which was clad in a monkey suit was thrown into the icy waters by a demon and what was worse for Etemon was that not only his suit was wet from the icy waters, it was also a demon brought out a giant electric fan and turned it on; the Elvis-monkey digimon who tried to swim away was frozen in a block of ice.

 

“You see, now you know that he was the mastermind of the mercenaries.” Dobermon said, “He was the one who not only brought destruction to Digital World, he also treated his mercenaries brutally if anyone did not get in his way and he made his henchmen plunder into the innocent digimons' villages and destroyed it as well…”

 

“I understand that…” Renamon muttered as her teeth chattered non-stop.

 

They shuffled their feet out of the cold chamber and they found themselves in a torture chamber which was more like a mountain of knives scattered with blood, bones and tortured digimon.

 

“Ugh…what is this awful place?” Renamon's face winced in disgust from the gruesome sight.

 

“We've come to the fourth level of Digital Hell, The Chamber of the Mountain of Knives…”

 

They turned to see a vampire digimon from both seasons one and two; Myotismon bravely went on without the demon's restraints and threw himself off the cliff where he got himself impaled by the knives.

 

“That's Myotismon…” Dobermon went on explaining, “He was the cruelest of all, not only he tried to kill the eighth child, he also tortured his own henchmen and even killed them, possessing the minds of the lonely unhappy humans, kidnapped the women and drank their blood as well as terrorizing the Human World just to find the eighth child. So as a murderous vampire, he can impale himself for his bloodthirsty ways…”

 

“That reminds me of someone in a history book…” Renamon muttered through her gritted teeth.

 

Then, they left the mountain of knives and they came across a torture chamber where a demon digimon which looked more like a bat with a bowling ball-shaped body was chained to the wall.

 

“This is the fifth level of Digital Hell, Chamber of Tongue ripping…”

 

“Supposing that this torture chamber is meant for liars like him?” Renamon pointed out.

 

“That is correct, this is Demidevimon, he was the one of Myotismon's henchmen who lied to the Digidestineds in order to stir up trouble among them and thus they separated in their own ways from the quarrels and his whopping lies.”

 

They turned their heads and they watched poor Demidevimon had his tongue pulled out and was chopped off by a bigger demon. This was the lesson for liars like him.

 

The duo again walked out of the torture chamber and they came across a chamber where there were more screams and the sounds of the sawing. This was the Chamber of Sawing, the sixth level of Digital Hell.

 

They witnessed a digimon from season one called Puppetmon had his wooden body sawn mercilessly by a demon. Dobermon explained to Renamon, “Since some wicked evil digimon are made of wood, they suffer their fate by sawing…”

 

Then, they went to the seventh torture chamber where an unnamed digimon was thrown into a very huge water tank and after the demon closed the lid of the tank, the water tank became very full until it was drowning. This was the Chamber of Water, the seventh level of Digital Hell.

 

After Renamon and Dobermon left the seventh torture chamber, they came across the eighth torture chamber where it smelt of blood and more screams of helpless wicked digimon were drowning in a pool of blood. This was the Chamber of Blood, the eighth level of Digital Hell.

 

Renamon and Dobermon went to the ninth torture chamber where they heard the cracks of the whip and screams of the tortured digimon. They saw the tortured couple from the season two, Mummymon and Arukenimon, Mummymon who was tied up waiting to be whipped, was forced to watch his fiancée tortured and whipped in front of him by a demon while Arukenimon was in her painful agony from hundred lashes of the whip. This was the Chamber of Whips, the ninth level of Digital Hell.

 

Then, lastly the duo went into the doors of the dark and eerie torture chamber. Renamon and Dobermon cautiously stood on the cliff and they saw thousands of evil digimons of various colors, shapes and sizes were on the huge platform which was held on many chains was shaking over the lake of fire. Some were fighting for their space while others tried to cling onto it but as a result, half of them fell into the inferno.

 

“Renamon, this is the tenth level of Digital Hell.” Dobermon explained to her in a tensed voice, “This is the torture Chamber of Inferno. The punishment here is the cruelest and the most horrifying…”

 

Even the normally calm Renamon was now trembling more than ever, she watched the poor souls in horror and beads of sweat were trickling down her face.

 

“All truly evil digimon souls sent to the tenth level of Digital Hell by the Judge will be escorted here at this hour…” Dobermon went on, “the lucky ones will remain in the centre of the platform. The unlucky ones will fall into the inferno and burn as fuel. Every part of their bodies is torched. The souls on the platform fight to keep their own space and when the struggle gets fiercer as the number of souls on the platform increases…”

 

Then, after the 100th digimon fell into the inferno, the demonic dragon digimon (I should call this Lucemon Satan Mode) rose out of the flames and devoured the panicking digimon souls from the edge of the platform.

 

“These are condemned souls who have committed atrocious deeds, brought great misery to the innocents and great destruction. Here they are tortured continuously without a moment of respite.” Dobermon added grimly, “And what's more, they are never to be reincarnated!”

 

They then walked out of the ten torture chambers and they were shaken and traumatized by the disturbing experience. Then, after she kept herself calm, Renamon turned to Dobermon, “If Beelzemon is going for a trial to be tortured, where is he?”

 

Dobermon replied, “I think he is somewhere in the Holding Tower, this is like a prison cell since the Digimon souls are imprisoned there before their judgment but if you want to see him, you must first bare with it because this tower has 666 floors and each floor has twenty cells.”

 

“This will be tougher than climbing up the tall buildings of Shinjuku…” Renamon thought as her face cringed from disbelief.

 

Then as Renamon agreed reluctantly, they went to the Holding Tower and managed to endure climbing up the stairs, in which they went to the 666th floor. While they were walking along the dark corridor, Renamon heard a familiar sound from the last cell. She ran to the specific place and carefully peered through the bars from the cell door where she had found a familiar figure, it was Beelzemon! He was found sitting in the darkest corner of the cell curled up in a fetal position, bound in chains and sniveling quietly in sad sobs.

Now Renamon has found Beelzemon! I suppose you may think that there will be a romance couple between Renamon and Beelzemon in the next chapter, but she's just there to help him. Oh well, sorry for making Beelzemon cry, you see, he has an overwhelming feeling of guilt and depression after trying to save Jeri. So please stay tuned for the next chapter and review but please don't flame me like Digital Hell!
