Chapter 1:: Un-Expected Guest
Ken Ichijouji looked into the mirror with a big smile on his face. It was his first date with Daisuke, his true love and best friend. Leafmon hopped up and down on the bed, "Wow! You look great Ken-Chan!!!!" Ken blushed and turned around in front of the mirror again. He was wearing black jeans and a black dress shirt, with the two top buttons undone. A spiked collar adorned his neck. He smiled into the mirror again then froze his reflection was changing. He stepped back from the mirror and turned away, feeling that same fear build up inside him. "No, go away…leave me alone…"
A knock at the door startled him and he sighed, "Who is it?" he smiled in relief. "Ken dear, Daisuke is here!" he grinned and waved to Leafmon, closing the bedroom door behind him.
Ken purred and pulled the blanket over him, his amethyst eyes opened and his heartbeat returned to normal. "Ne Daisuke…that was amazing." Daisuke turned his head to kiss him, his burgundy eyes still dazed with pleasure. "I love you Ken-Chan." Ken snuggled closer. "I love you too Dai-Chan." He leaned up on his elbow and yawned, "Ken…what's wrong you're so…quiet…" Ken smiled. "Ne, just thinking." Daisuke smiled and laid his head in Ken's lap. "You're always thinking Ken…" Ken smiled "Am I? I was thinking about you Dai-kun" Daisuke smiled "Ok, then I'm not complaining" Ken laughed and looked at the clock, "Well I should head home, it's almost midnight." Daisuke frowned. "Aw, alright, are you going to be ok walking home?" Ken nodded, "But I would like it if you drove me," he smiled, a light blush coming to his cheeks. Daisuke laughed. "Aright," he said sitting up and pulling his pants on. "Do you want me to take the roof off again?" Ken nodded and slipped back into his jeans and boxers, leaving his shirt on the back seat. He opened the door and slipped into the front seat, giving Daisuke a kiss on the cheek. Daisuke grinned and pressed a button, the top rolled down and folded into the back of the car and the flames on the side of the car shimmered in the streetlamp light. Ken smiled and turned on the stereo letting the music from the CD kick in.
Sweet Dreams are made of these.
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas.
Everybody is looking for something.
Some of them want to use you.
Some of them want to be used by you.
Some of them want to abuse you.
Some of them want to be abused.
The music was loud and it blared throughout the city as they drove. Ken grinned and sang along, his hair blowing in the wind. Daisuke slipped on his black sunglasses and began to sing another song over the music. "I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can." Ken hit him playfully. "Stop it! I like what's on the CD!" Daisuke grinned "Aw you don't like my singing Kenny?" He pouted and pretended to look hurt. Ken laughed and leaned over to kiss him, just as he pulled into Ken's driveway. Ken lived in a house in Odaiba now, with two levels and a giant backyard, complete with swimming pool. Daisuke grinned. "Are your parents home?" He asked looking towards the garage. Ken sighed, "Yeah, and I really need to sleep. It's been a long night." Daisuke nodded and pulled him in for a kiss. "It's alright anyways, you know I hate having sex when they're home, your mom always interrupts and asks if we want cookies." Ken smiled and leaned in to kiss him back. Suddenly the porch light came on and his mother's voice echoed throughout driveway. "Ken dear! I'm so glad your home, a friend of yours is here from out of town, and told him you were out with Daisuke. " She suddenly smiled and waved. "Hello Daisuke dear! Did you and Ken have fun on your date?" Daisuke nodded and got out of the car to give her a hug. "It was great mom, Ken and I went to the amusement park downtown." She smiled and patted his head, "Well goodnight…Ken you better come in and greet your friend, he's traveled 15 hours by bus and train to get here to see you!" Ken nodded and kissed Daisuke goodnight. "I'll call you tomorrow…I wonder who would come and see me..." Daisuke shrugged. "Probably a cousin, or a rabid fan-girl. " Ken kissed him again and waved. "Good night Dai-Chan!" Daisuke got into the car and waved. Ken waved until her was out of sight, then wandered into the house. Suddenly, his eyes went wide and he dropped his shirt. The teenage boy sitting on his couch smiled and took another bite into his brownie. "Hello Ken." He said with a familiar smirk. "So nice to see you again." Ken picked up his shirt and forced a fake smile for his mother. "Hello Kai …I've missed you…how was your trip?" The spikey haired boy smiled and pulled his sunglasses down off his harsh violet eyes. He was wearing tight black jeans and a fishnet top, spikes adorned his neck and wrists, black boots were placed neatly beside the door. "Great! But the bus and train ride was so long!" he too obviously faking cheerfulness, but not obvious to his mother. She smiled again and clasped her hands together. "Oh this is wonderful! You look just like my Osamu," She said looking longingly at Osamu's memorial picture, after a few moments she smiled again. "You can sleep in his room." Kai smirked and Ken opened his mouth to protest. But before the words could leave his mouth. Kai had slug his arm around Ken's shoulder, his bag on the other shoulder. "That sounds great Mrs. Ichijouji, Ken can show me now and get me all settled in. Thanks for the brownies!" Mrs. Ichijouji beamed and wandered back into the kitchen. "Your VERY welcome Kai and you can call me mom!" she smiled and turned to Ken, "Oh, tomorrow I'm enrolling Kai in your high school, if he's going to stay here he has to go to school!" Ken groaned. "But MOM! He just dropped himself on our doorstep!" She frowned, "Ken Ichijouji! I'm surprised at you! Turning your best friend away when he has no place to go!" Ken sighed, "Ok mom…" She nodded and turned to Kai giving him a hug, "You poor thing, abandoned by your mother." Kai hugged back and gave Ken an evil grin over his mother's shoulder. She finally let go and wandered off to the kitchen talking to herself. "Oh it's going to be just like having Osamu here again, "
Ken turned to him, dragging him up the stairs. "WHAT are you doing here!" and how can you be real! You're…you're apart of me!" Kai smirked again, "Not any more…Kenny," He said stressing Ken's nickname. " I'm my own person now, human just like you." Ken shook his head, "Oh great! Now I have to deal with you?" Kai smirked, "Yup, oh, your mom is really nice…I wish I had parents." He paused and looked away, a strange look in his eyes, it was almost longing, as if he really was the neglected child dropped on the Ichijouji's doorstep. "She makes really good brownies too." Ken nodded, and for some reason a smile tugged at the corner of his lips." Thanks, I guess she's your mom too now." He looked at Ken again and nodded, sitting on the bottom bunk of Ken's bed.
Ken frowned and sat beside him, "So…what happened…how did you become…real." Kai turned back to the window. "Well…I don't know…at first I was just a shadow, then I blinked and all of a sudden, I was real, a real 18 year old boy…with feelings and emotions. Not just an emotionless shadow, it was scary at first. I wasn't actually sure what to think." He paused so Ken could speak. Ken took the opportunity. "Why did you come to the real world and why to me, and I can't believe you got away with telling my mom that bullshit story!" Kai turned back to him and spoke again, "I didn't want to stay in the digital world, I'm not the Kaiser and I'm not a Digidestined, so I have no desire to be there…and you were the only one I could run to, they others would have turned me away." Ken nodded and got up to look for Pajama's. "Do you have clothes and things?" Kai shook his head, "Only my toothbrush, hair gel and deodorant." Ken laughed, "Looks like mom will have to take you shopping." Kai cringed. "Oh dear," Ken laughed again pulling sweats and a t-shirt out of his drawer. "She doesn't pick the clothes, she only pays for them." Kai grinned. "True."
Kai yawned, "I need a t-shirt." Ken nodded and tossed him his shirt that said "Rocket." Kai slipped off his clothes and into the t-shirt, before reaching his arm out to catch the pair of black boxers tossed at him. He slipped them on and crawled into the bottom bunk. "Thank you Ken." Ken blinked before climbing up the ladder and into his own bed. "Your welcome…Kai…" He sighed and leaned over the edge of the bed and looked down at him. "Is it going to be just Kai or are you going to have a full name?" Kai shook his head. "Just Kai, I'm not going by Kaiser." Ken nodded, "Alright…You're welcome." Ken pulled the blankets over him and closed his eyes. The Kai spoke again, "I made a wish Ken. My wish was to be able to be with you." His heart pounding and his body shaking, Ken didn't say a word. He finally fell asleep once the only sound he heard was Kai's gentle breathing, and the pounding of his own heart.
