Christmas Desires By Taito Royalty
The December snow lay heavy over the city. The bright morning sun glinted off the sparkling rooftops and the cars trundling along the slushy streets. A light breeze stirred the crisp air and the clouds of breath from the passers by drifted away to be lost in the hazy fog. TK walked into his father's house knowing Yamato was home. He shed his jacket and scarf and left them on the floor, gratefully embracing the warmth of the flat.
"Yama?" he called.
"Hey TK," came the reply.
TK set his suitcase down. "Mum had a trip, she said I had to stay with Dad. And I guess cause Dad's away to you're in charge."
"Oh okay," Yama called from another room, "could have told me earlier couldn't you?" he came in smiling and gave his brother a brief hug. "Still, I'm glad you're here, it would have been a bit boring without you. So where'd you wanna bed down?"
"I can hit the floor in your room. Oh hey, by the way, Christmas eve and Christmas we've been demanded to be present at Taichi's"
"Oh really?" TK nodded eagerly. "Well I guess if Mum and Dad are both away we can go."
"Good, cuz Tai demanded you attend or you don't get your new guitar, uh, I mean case! Your new case. Oh Tai's gonna kick my ass!"
A new guitar, wow, thought Yama, I better get something good for Tai! "Uh, don't worry TK, I wont let on!"
"He got you that uh, what's that hyper thingy guitar thingy that you always drool over from the magazines?"
"He got that? But that cost's a fortune! I didn't even think Tai knew I wanted that, how did he find out?" Yamato sat down and contemplated the thoughtfulness of his friend. And he hadn't gotten anything for him yet! He better get something special, but a guitar? How could he match that? He sighed, just when I think I know you Tai. "Uh, anyway TK, you're not supposed to be telling me!"
"I know, but you're no good with gifts. How bad would it look if you got him a book or something and he dipped into his college fund to get you an awesome guitar?"
College fund? Oh that was too much! "You're right, thanks TK."
How amazingly generous, it was unbelievable, and from Tai. Just as a friend of course, but then again it was a guitar. Maybe...
Yama lifted the suitcase. "Damn TK, what have you got in here?"
"Bricks...and Christmas presents."
"Oh just that huh?" Yama panted as he hefted it into the bedroom, "bricks too?"
"Lots of bricks just to make you work." TK followed his brother. "So...what you gonna get Tai?"
"I dunno yet, any ideas? How about one of your bricks?"
"I think he wants a puppy," said TK, "Kari caught him looking at them in the pet shop."
"A puppy? Tai?" Yama got an image of the brown haired tornado with a dog, something didn't fit. "Would he remember to feed it? Perhaps a brick would be better," he joked. He unzipped the suitcase. "Damn! You *do* have bricks in here!" he lifted two out, held them up and stared at TK in astonishment.
"The doorbell's ringing Matt."
"Huh, oh okay." He put down the bricks. "You can explain these later!" He gave TK a funny look and headed for the door. He was greeted by Tai standing there, all bundled up like a little snow bunny.
"Hi Tai, come in." Yama shot a better-keep-quiet-about-what-we-were-talking-about look at TK. Quite a complicated message to contain in one expression, but Yama managed it somehow.
Tai shuffled in. "Yamato, uh you... well do you wanna go shopping with me?"
"Shopping?" Hey that might be a good idea. I wonder if I can distract him long enough to pick up a puppy. "What for? Sit down, you look frozen."
"I got some Christmas stuff to buy, no it's okay, I can't really stay long." God I wonder if he would make me warm, thought Tai, oh God Taichi stop you baka!
"Sure thing," said Yamato, "I haven't got anything to do here, and I need to get...a few bits myself. TK, will you be okay here on your own for a while?"
"I'm fourteen," said TK, "think about what you just said."
Yamato pondered for a while for something more appropriate to say. "No parties, don't empty the fridge and don't wreck the flat. Come on Tai, let's go."
Yama isn't even totally bundled up when Taichi dragged him to the door.
"Hey wait a minute! I'll freeze. I need something to keep me warm!" He desperately made a grab for his jacket.
"Ya got me don't ya?"
Don't even *think* about that, Yama told himself. TK tossed Yama a jacket and gloves as Tai pushed him into the lift. As the doors closed TK heard Yama's voice: "Next time you want to drag me out into a blizzard warn me first! It's freezing out here!"
Taichi dragged Yamato from shop to shop. He bought Sora a dress and Hikari some CD's. Izzy got a brand new palm pilot. Now Yama was being dragged to the pet shop. "I just want to see them Yamato! Pleeease?" begged Tai.
"Tai! We haven't done *any* of my shopping yet! And why do *I* have to carry all this stuff?"
Taichi gave Yamato the puppy-face to end all puppy-faces. "Please Yamato? Just for a minute."
*sigh* he looks so cute when he does that. "Oh alright." They entered the shop and were blasted by the universal smell of all pet shops everywhere, a mix of sawdust, dog food and dung. Yama stood struggling with the bundles of shopping as Tai gravitated towards the rows of cages, making little delighted noises.
Tai's face lit up like a Christmas tree as he walked along the cages, stopping at the cutest little black Labrador puppy. "Hi there!" he squealed. Yama blushed, slightly ashamed to be accompanied by this cooing bundle of excitement as Tai dragged him by the arm from cage to cage, pointing at all the "adorable" animals. He couldn't help liking it though, Tai was insatiable, and his enthusiasm contagious...he found himself staring at the rabbits dogs and hamsters just as he was.
Yama thought he'd test the water... "You like that dog then?"
"I come to see him every day."
Yamato raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Almost everyday...I had to drop something off to be engraved yesterday, and Hikari had to shot for me, so I spent my time in here."
Yama glanced at the price tag...well who said friendship comes cheap. But if it would make Tai happy, and Yamato certainly wanted Tai to be happy..."Tai, I'm just gonna have a look around okay, you stay here." the boy barely registered him and continued staring into the cage.
Yamato approached the cashier, credit card in hand. The rainbow haired girl smiled at him. "Can I help you?"
"Umm, I'd like to buy the little black Labrador over there." The pleasant woman rang it all up and Yamato watched as she walked to the cage, putting a little sold sign in front of it. He watched Taichi's face fall as he stepped out of the shop.
All the way home Yama comforted the distraught Tai. He was upset, but it would be worth it. Yamato walked barely looking where he was going, thinking only of the delight on Tai's face when he opened the big box from Yamato on Christmas day....
Christmas eve came and TK and Yamato dutifully arrived with over-night bags in hand, ready to stay, and were greeted at the door by Kari in a sexy little santa suit. TK's eyes bulged.
"Umm, where shall I put all this?" said Yamato, "I'm afraid TK brought his bricks...don't ask."
"You can stay in here with me TK," said Kari shyly, "uh, if you want!"
"Boy do I ever!" said TK, "I mean, sure come on."
Taichi was lounging on the sofa, wearing a matching suit...the only thing was it was a MRS Clause outfit.
Well I never thought someone could look so good in a santa suit, thought Yama. "Tai, where should I bed down?" said Yama, staring at the suit.
"You're staying in my room."
Yama resisted the urge to dance a little jig. "Umm Tai, why is your sister wearing the MR clause suit while you're wearing the..." super sexy suit that makes you look so.....oh! I can't say that! ".... The MRS clause one?"
"I lost a bet with her."
"Should I really ask? Perhaps I don't wanna know...who am I kidding," he grinned slyly, "what kind of bet?"
"She was trying to cheer me up so we were playing strip poker and I ran out of chips, so she made a bet with me. If I won she'd run around naked in the main hall of the building...if she won I had to wear this. I swear she had Gatomon cheating with her!"
"Well I think you look absolutely ravishing," said Yama in a fake posh accent, taking Tai's hand and kissing it in an exaggerated parody of all those old films. I hope he takes that as a joke, he thought, then again...what if he doesn't? Yama's mind filled with little fantasies.
"You're being stupid. Stop it, it's humiliating!" Tai pouted, "I had to save my legs! And other things..."
"Aww, I think you look sweet!" Yama pinched Tai's cheek. Yama, he told himself, calm down, he'll find out you're flirting for real!
"I will kick you in your very small nuts," said Tai.
"Small?" Yama feigned shock. "And how would you know eh?"
"TK told me."
"Did he indeed..." Yama glared towards Kari's bedroom, where oddly enough TK had yet to re-emerge from. "Well it's not like you to go on second hand information is it Tai?" Yama froze...way to obvious, change the subject! "Uh, so got any plans for tonight?"
"Wanna dance?" said Tai bluntly.
He's only being chummy, Yama tried to convince himself....don't get your hopes up. Then again, Yama had been "acting" chummy too. "Sure" Yama said, before thinking, then blushed bright crimson. "Uh, I don't dance very well," he laughed nervously, "I just sing and play."
"Well, I'll teach you."
"Uh, perhaps this isn't such a good idea." Yama was cut short when Tai leaped up, turned on some Christmas music and grabbed him, pulling him close. Keep calm, Yama told himself.
"Okay, hand's here," said Tai, moving Yama's hand to his side. What kind of dancing is he teaching me? Yama thought, going a few shades of red deeper.
They began slowly to sway to the music. "See it isn't hard." Said Tai.
"Y-yeah." Yama tried to ignore the warmth of Tai against his body, or the feel of his hip beneath his hand. He concentrated on the music, the décor, even Tai's poor attempt at decorating the tree... anything to distract him, so he wouldn't give himself away.
But damn he was loving this, even though he was terrified he would be found out, what would Tai say? But then again, he was the one who asked him to dance... and then there was the guitar. What if he felt the same way.
"You're not a bad dancer Yamato." Fate chose that moment to prove him wrong and Yamato tripped over his feet and fell ungraciously to the floor. Taichi fell with him, landing in his lap.
"Okay, I take it back," laughed Tai happily. Yamato laughed back. God! He's in my arms now! He froze for a moment, forgetting he was still clasping tightly to Tai, not letting him out of his arms.
With an embarrassed start he realized what he was doing and jumped to his feet, muttering apologies. He tried to hide behind a nervous grin. "I need a bit more practice, ne?"
"Just a little. You hungry?"
Yama smiled genuinely this time. "You're always hungry Tai!" Yamato's mind moved to snacks...to sharing snacks...to sharing snacks with Tai...sitting in Tai's lap sharing snacks... "yeah, what you got?" he said, a little too eagerly.
Tai disappeared into the kitchen and brought out the tray of puffs Kari made earlier.
"They look nice," said Yama, sitting on the sofa.
Tai grabbed a puff. "Open wide!"
Yama opened his mouth to protest...unfortunately doing exactly what Tai had told him to do. Tai took the chance and pushed in a puff proudly. Yama made a face as he munched the puff. "Sneaky!" he spluttered, spraying crumbs everywhere.
Tai ducked his head to hide his face from the shrapnel, falling over, ending up with his head in Yama's lap. Yama looked down into the upside down face of tai, trying to hide his pleasure and his amusement. "Why hello there. What you doing down there?"
"Give me a puff will ya?" Tai didn't move from his lap.
Yama picked up a puff and dangled it just above tai's mouth, pulling it away every time he tried to take a bite. "Say please."
"Pwwwweeeeaaasssseee!" Yama felt a tingle run down his back. That was adorable!
He couldn't resist it. "Say pretty please!"
"Pweeettty pwwweeaaasssee!"
"Oh all right, just cos you're so cute." Oops, maybe that was pushing it a little to far. Yama stuffed the puff full into Tai's mouth, brushing his lips with his fingers.
Tai munched happily. "Jeeezz! It's getting late! We better check on the kids and head to bed!" Yama was *sure* Tai had winked just then. He was a little annoyed that this meant Tai leaving his lap. After all, Tai had stayed there on his own accord! Yama's hopes were growing by the minute. And now Tai had actually winked! Was he still playing? He sincerely hoped he wasn't.
Yama knocked on Kari's door. "TK? You in there?"
"Uh yeah, don't come in!"
"Is Kari okay?"
"She's fine!" said TK urgently, "Don't come in!"
Kari's voice joined TK's "We're, uh, not decent!"
"What? Both of you?"
Taichi laughed "Kari, don't forget, condoms are in the desk in Dad's room."
Yama looked at Tai in shock. "Tai! You don't think they're..."
Tai walked into his room, smiling and shaking his head. "Probably, that's their choice!"
Yama looked back at the door and put it all together. "Well bugger me, they are!" he spoke to the door again, "Alright, goodnight you two."
TK and Kari shouted rather insistently, "GOODNIGHT!"
Damn lucky bastard, thought Yama, watching Tai as he disappeared into his room, at least some-one will be happy tonight. He didn't know how he would last the night! Sleeping so close to Tai, knowing he couldn't have him. Talk about torture.
Tai plonked down on the sleeping bag.
"Tai, shift! You've got a bed of your own." Oh how I wish I didn't have to push him away.
"Guests sleep in the bed, it's the rule."
"Since when?" still...sleeping in Tai's bed, it was tempting. Tai was already sinking down into the sleeping bag, and he was a stubborn bastard when he wanted to be.
"Hey! It's not as if I agreed yet!"
"Too late to argue, I'm tired." Yama was hit in the face by a shirt and santa skirt. The boots hit the floor and Tai leaned over the chest of drawers, Yama could see Tai's panty clad ass as he searched for his pj's
Was he doing this on purpose?!?!? Yama decided it was better not to risk it, and turned away, suddenly finding the piles of paper on tai's desk very interesting...his eyes settled on a bill, a very hefty bill! Paid out to a music shop......oh Taichi! Yama's eyes watered and he filled with a deep affection for Tai, he paid so much for him!
He couldn't tell whether it was impulse that drove him, but he turned around and padded silently towards Tai's turned back.
Gently he laid a hand on his shoulder.....there was no turning back now. He swiveled him round, and to Tai's great surprise, laid a brief tentative kiss on his lips.
Yama pulled away, suddenly all to aware of what he'd done. He stood in embarrassed silence, waiting for the retribution to come.
It didn't come.
"Yama..."
"Uh, I'm sorry Tai..." stammered Yamato, "I didn't mean to....I guess I just....uhh, I mean."
Tai kissed Yamato on the forehead. "Goodnight Yamato."
Yama wasn't expecting that. "Huh? Is that it?" Baka! Why are you complaining? He kissed you back! He felt faint, and sat down heavily on the bed. All this emotional tension was too much. His skin burned, had he made a fool out of himself? But Tai kissed back, he can't possibly be joking this time. Damn, how can he be so cool about all this?
Pulling on his boxers Taichi wiggled out of his panties. "See on Christmas Yamato."
What did that mean? Was he happy? Upset? Oh no, was he angry?
"Uh, Tai. Don't you think we should talk? I mean, I kissed you." Maybe I should have kept my hands to myself, he thought, now what have I done?
"There's nothing to talk about Yamato. It was an innocent kiss between friends. Night."
Right then Yama felt like crying. He had just ruined their friendship, and on Christmas eve too. He lay back as Tai turned out the light, but couldn't sleep. All he could think about was tomorrow. Tai would be an icicle, he would hate him now. After a few minutes he couldn't stand it any more. He lifted from the bed and crept out into the silent flat. He collected his jacket, opened the door, and made to slip silently out into the night air.
A hand around his waist held him back. "You're going to ruin my Christmas Yamato."
He turned around, breath handing cloudy in the air. Taichi was clad only in boxers and was starting to shiver.
"Tai," he stood for a moment in utter disbelief, "get back inside! You'll catch your death."
"Only if you come with me."
"But I thought you didn't want me here. Not after..." Yamato hung his head.
Tai lifted it to face him, and lightly kissed Yama's lips. "Come back inside before I catch my death," he whispered.
Yama was too stunned to complain and allowed himself to be led hand in hand. Inside he stood unable to think of anything to say. There was nothing he could say. He just wanted to kiss him again, but was too nervous to even move. He stood looking at Tai, sheer astonishment plastered across his face.
Tai turned around and kissed him once more. Yamato felt arms wrap around his waist, and he wrapped his around Tai. For a long moment they stood together in each other's embrace, neither one wanting to end the moment.
"Yama, can we sleep? I'm tired."
"Sure." He gently led Tai into the bedroom, then was faced with a dilemma. He looked at the two beds. Should I be so forward?
Tai pulled Yama towards the bed. "Lay down, it's cold. Move over." He tickled Yama's tummy. Yama felt like he was dreaming. He happily shed his jacket, got in the bed and slid over. To his delight Tai soon followed, cuddling up to him.
"Yamato?"
"Yes?"
"Guess what? It's after midnight. Merry Christmas."
Christmas morning they were woken by the excited sounds of TK bounding into the flat, followed by the more reserved footsteps of Kari. Even fourteen year olds get excited by Christmas.
There was a furious beating at the door. "Tai, Yama! Wake up!"
Tai pulled the cover up over his head. "Go away. We're busy."
Yama looked over at the clock. "Shit TK! It's four in the morning. Go back to bad." He pulled Tai closer to him. He didn't care even if it was Christmas, he wasn't getting out of this bed a second before he had too. He looked at Tai's peaceful face, at the wild hair hanging down over his eyes. He was an angel.
Kari's voice came to the door. "Get up! Or I swear to God I'll run in there naked!"
"TK! Restrain her or I'll tell Kari about your porn stash!"
"Thanks a lot Yama!"
Kari giggled. "I know all about that. I bought him most of it!"
"Kari!" said TK.
"You two have to the count of three or I flash!"
Tai grumbled and heaved himself out of bed. "She'll do it."
"Oh go away you two," said Yama, "I'm sure you can think of something to do for a few hours!" He pulled Tai back into bed, taking the opportunity to kiss him on the back of the neck.
Tai giggled. "I want to give you your gift. Yama, come on."
Yama weighed up getting a guitar or being in bed with Taichi. Surprisingly the guitar took second. "I'm sure it'll wait for us." Then he remembered the puppy, it was being delivered in an hour. "Or maybe we should get up!"
"Come on baby."
When Tai and Yama emerged from the bedroom holding hands they received surprisingly little comment from their siblings. Perhaps because they were busy making out on the sofa.
Tai ran happily to the tree. He was a little kid at heart, and Yama loved him for it. He sat on the floor. He knew what was coming, but it was no less special because of it.
Tai pulled out the guitar wrapped in teddy bear paper. "Here you go Yamato."
Yama pulled Tai down to sit snuggled up next to him as he pulled off the paper. Even before he was finished he was choking back tears.
"It's engraved," said Tai. Yama flipped it over and read the inscription.
"Yama. Keep playing the music from your heart. It leads to mine. Taichi."
Yama put it down and pulled Tai into a hug, crying freely. "It's beautiful," he whispered. "Thank you Tai. I know how expensive it must have been. And do you know what makes it extra special? That it's from you."
"It was worth it to see your eyes light up."
By this time TK and Kari had broken off from their activities and were watching the two intently. Yama could have sworn TK handed Kari a few notes, muttering "you win."
Yama sat clutching his Taichi. His adorable, thoughtful, generous, wonderful Taichi, until the doorbell rang.
"Doorbell!" Taichi leapt up.
"Wait. I'll get it Tai."
Yamato went to answer the door, and talked briefly to someone outside. He came back bearing a large box, wrapped in silver paper and an enormous pink ribbon.
Taichi was opening gifts from TK and Kari. "What's that?"
Yamato set down the box very carefully indeed. "My present. Merry Christmas Tai." He waited eagerly for Tai to open it.
Tai ripped it open quickly and gasped. "Oh Yama!"
Yamato's heart skipped a few beats. Such happiness, it was untrue. So what if his Dad will kill him when he finds out his son emptied his savings account. Who cares! It was his money and it was worth it. "Do you like it?"
Taichi knocked Yamato to the ground, hitting him with a barrage of kisses. "Shall I take that as a yes? What shall we call him?"
Kari had fished the little puppy from the box and was making the same gleeful noises Tai made when he was in the pet shop.
"I've already given him one. Mato."
Yamato smiled. "Sounds good. Shall we open more presents or just lie here on the floor?" He kissed Tai on the nose and looked longingly into his eyes. Lying there was obviously his favourite choice right now.
"Lay here."
"Hmm. Good choice." They fondled each other's hair and stared into each other's eyes. Occasionally kissing gently. They ignored TK and Kari demolishing the other presents.
The puppy jumped happily on Yamato's head and started licking him.
"Ack. Hey come on," he said to the puppy, "you spoilt the moment!"
Yamato sat up and lifted Tai into his lap. There they sat silently and happily enjoying the feel of the moment, knowing full well that they were together. They watched as TK and Kari exchanged gifts, laughed, joked, hugged and finally settle down on the sofa staring dreamily into space. It was certainly a very enjoyable Christmas for all concerned.
"You got me a guitar," mused Yamato.
"You got me a puppy," said Tai before kissing him again.
Kari leaned over to TK and whispered in his ear. "I told you they'd get together."
