Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Crimson Chaos ❯ Shattered Goggles ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Full Sumery: It’s been seven years since the birth of Megidramon. Seven years since the Tamers turned their backs on their former leader, and left him stranded in the Digital World, completely alone. Most of the Tamers have almost forgotten about him, but a certain redhead has been unable to forget about the friend she had abandoned. Even after seven years, he continues to haunt both her thoughts and dreams.
But trouble is never too far behind. Digimon are appearing all over the world and causing trouble, and the Digital World is under the influence of an evil dark force. Suspicions rise when Takato suddenly returns. Where had he been for the past seven years? Why was he back? Who’s side is he on? And what does he want? Well, he wants what any teenager would want: Revenge.
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon Tamers or Digimon in general. If I did, there would’ve been a sequel to the Tamers season, Alice McCoy would’ve been a regular character, and Adventure 02 would’ve had a slightly different ending. On the other hand, I do own Yukiko Takabana and Mitsuhiro Yamaguchi; but aside from that, I own nothing!
Author’s Note: Alright, I originally began this fanfic on MM.org, but I hardly got any reviews so I decided to re-write it and post it here instead.
Just a warning; most of the characters are extremely OOC. I’m telling everyone this ahead of time so I don’t get any flames from reviewers lecturing me on how the characters would never act like this. I’m quite aware of what happened in the episode - I’ve seen it many times and read the episode summery (and script) over twenty times, so I know! I’m just writing what could have happened.
And this is my first time using the Japanese names and ages, so I apologize if I make a mistake! For those of you who are more in tune with the dubbed series, here’s a translation:
Takato Matsuda = Takato MatsukiJenrya Lee = Henry WongRuki Makino = Rika NonakaShuichon Lee = Suzie WongJuri Katou = Jeri Katou
Hirokazu Shioda = Kazu Shioda
Reika Ootori = Riley
Megumi Onodera = Tally
(As far as I know, most of the other characters’ names stayed the same).
Growmon, MegaloGrowmon, Dukemon, ChaosDukemon = Growlmon, WarGrowlmon, Gallantmon, ChaosGallantmon
Galgomon, SaintGalgomon = Gargomon, MegaGargomon
The Tamers are 10 in the first chapter, and 17 in the rest. Anyways, the main pairings will be Rukato and Jenlice, so if you don’t like - don’t read. Plain and simple.
That’s all! Enjoy!

“NOOO!” Katou Juri’s scream echoed throughout the empty plains of the Digital World, as she and the rest of the Tamers watched in horror as Leomon’s body dissolved into tiny bits of data.Crimson Chaos
Part I: Shattered Goggles

Data that Beelzebumon - the terrible Digimon who had killed Leomon in the first place - absorbed in an instant.
Matsuda Takato’s eyes burned with hatred as he watched the scene slowly unfold before him. He had always known Impmon to be a rather mischievous and annoying little Digimon, but he never thought he’d sink so low as to betray them all, just to be able to have the power and ability to digivolve without a Tamer!
The whole ordeal made Takato’s blood boil. He clenched his fists tightly together. Not only had Impmon - or rather, Beelzebumon - betrayed them, but he had destroyed Leomon as well.
Takato made an angry noise in the back of his throat as he watched Beelzebumon laugh manically as he finished absorbing Leomon’s data. He wanted to make Beelzebumon pay. He wanted to make Beelzebumon pay for betraying them, and ultimately, murdering a loyal and heroic friend!
A choked sob sounded from behind him. Takato glanced over his shoulder and saw that Juri had fallen to her knees, crying hysterically, while she clutched her yellow and silver D-Arc tightly to her chest.
Jenrya and Ruki, along with their Digimon, seemed too stunned to really do anything. Hirokazu and Kenta had taken this opportunity to comfort Juri, while Shuichon hugged Lopmon out of fear.
“How could you?” shouted Takato, glaring venomously at Beelzebumon. “How could you do this? All we ever did was try to be nice to you! And Leomon - he was only trying to help you and you… you killed him…”
“Well I got a little newsflash for ya, Goggle-boy! I don’t need friends! Never have, never will! And as for your ol’ pal, Leomon… he signed his own death contract when he decided to protect you pathetic little humans!” sneered Beelzebumon.
“Impmon, you don’t mean that…” started Kyuubimon, but she trailed off when Beelzebumon’s eyes narrowed in her direction.
“I ain’t Impmon anymore, Foxy. I’m Beelzebumon! And ya wanna know somthin’ else? I don’t regret killin’ your friend! He had it comin’! All you pathetic Digimon who need your equally pathetic humans, deserve to die! That means you too, Foxy!” cackled Beelzebumon, as he pulled out a large gun and aimed it at her. “CORONA BLASTER!”
“You stay away from her!” warned MegaloGrowmon, using one of his large metal arms to protect Kyuubimon and deflect the attack back at it’s owner.
“Is that the best you can do, Pineapple Head?” sneered Beelzebumon. “HA! Take this! CORONA BLASTER!”
This time, Beelzebumon aimed the attack at Ruki, who stood frozen in fear as the attack closed in on her. Ruki’s violet eyes widened. She couldn’t move.
She hadn’t felt like this since she was cornered by Galgomon in the underground parking lot the day she had met Takato and Jenrya.
Suddenly, without warning, she was tackled to the ground by Takato. His body shielded and protected her as Beelzebumon’s attack flew over them.
After a few seconds, Takato lifted himself up and stared down at the face of the young redhead beneath him. Her eyes bore into his own, and her chest heaved up and down as she breathed heavily.
Slowly, Takato rose to his feet and helped Ruki up, before turning to face Beelzebumon once again. He glanced over at MegalowGrowmon, and the two shared a small moment where they both knew what the other was thinking without saying anything out loud.
“Kill him.”
The second the words escaped Takato’s lips, all hell broke loose. Hirokazu and Kenta stared at him as though tentacles had just sprouted from his back, while Jenrya and Juri’s eyes widened in shock. Shuichon opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
Ruki, on the other hand, just stared ahead, her eyes completely glazed over. Her mind was blank. She couldn’t think, and even if she could, she didn’t know what to think or how to react.
In all the time she had known the goggled Tamer that had saved her just moments before, she never once thought that she’d hear the words: ‘Kill him’ come out of his mouth.
Hirokazu’s sudden cry of: “What the hell!” brought Ruki back to reality. The violet-eyed Tamer shifted her gaze to the right, only to stagger back in surprise when she noticed a dark light shoot down from the red sky and engulf MegaloGrowmon, surrounding him in a deep, crimson-black sphere.
Then she saw Takato, who stood a few feet away from her, clutching his D-Arc tightly in his hand.
“Do it!” She heard him shout. “That’s it… digivolve… to Mega… as your Tamer, I order you to digivolve to Mega!”
“Order?” Jenrya cried out in desperation. “Takato, have you completely lost it? You can’t just order MegaloGrowmon to digivolve!”
Takato whirled around to face the half-Chinese Tamer.
“I don’t remember asking for your opinion, Lee!” He sneered, staring at Jenrya with a look of pure hatred in his eyes. “I’ll do what I want.”
Jenrya seemed at loss for words. Takato had never yelled at him or questioned his beliefs. In fact, back when Ruki used to order Renamon around, Takato used to help him try to talk some sense into the fiery Tamer, telling her that Digimon were more than just tools for fighting.
But now… he was doing the one thing he swore never to do: Forcing his partner to digivolve.
“What’s happening?” Shuichon asked, tugging at his orange vest as her eyes glistened with fear.
“I…” began Jenrya, but he was silenced when a loud screech echoed throughout the desert.
He whipped around, just in time to see the ball of dark energy that had consumed MegaloGrowmon, burst into shards of glass, revealing a horrifying red, skeletal Dragon in his place.
“What is that thing?” cried Kenta.
“Is that Guilmon?” exclaimed Hirokazu.
“Is that Guilmon?” repeated Takato in a drawling tone. “You mean, was that Guilmon? In a way, yes. Allow me to introduce to you - my newest creation - MEGIDRAMON!”
Jenrya quickly took out his D-Arc and scanned Megidramon.
Megidramon
Type: Virus
Level: MegaGroup: Dark DragonAttacks: Megido Flame; Hell Howling
“This can’t be right.” Jenrya muttered.Type: Virus
Level: MegaGroup: Dark DragonAttacks: Megido Flame; Hell Howling
“I know what you mean.” Rapidmon agreed. “I mean, I always knew Guilmon was a Virus type and all, but I never thought… I never thought he’d turn out like this.”
Suddenly, Takato started to laugh. But it wasn’t his normal, warm and kind laugh or his nervous laugh when he said something to Ruki that could end up putting him in the Hospital…
No.
This laugh was harsh, malicious, and evil.
The Tamers watched in horror as a dark aura surrounded their friend and his Digimon. Megidramon released another ear-splitting scream, before turning to face Beelzebumon, who, for the first time since he had digivolved, looked absolutely terrified.
After a few seconds, however, Beelzebumon replaced the look of fear with a smirk.
“I gotta admit, Pineapple Head. This sure ain’t a very attractive side of ya…”
It all happened so quickly. One minute, Beelzebumon was smirking and taunting Megidramon - the next - Megidramon had plunged his tail into the demon Digimon’s gut. A look of disbelief, as well as shock, crept across Beelzebumon’s face.
“DID YOU SEE THAT?” cried Hirokazu, pointing in Megidramon’s direction as Beelzebumon de-digivolved back into Impmon, and fell to the ground unconscious. “He took out Impmon like it was just a walk in the park!”
But no one was listening to the naïve Tamer. They were too busy staring at the scene in front of them.
“Absorb his data.” Takato told Megidramon.
“Takato, no!” shouted Ruki, her eyes widening in fear. “Don’t!”
“Shut up!” snapped Takato, whirling around and glaring at her.
Ruki just shook her head and placed both of her hands on his shoulders.
“Takato, listen to me! You don’t want to do this!” She told him firmly. “Impmon’s done a lot of bad things in the past - I’ll admit that! But not even he deserves to be destroyed!” She paused, taking a deep breath as her grip on his shoulders relaxed a bit. “If you kill him… you’ll be committing the same crime he did!”
There was a long moment of silence. No one spoke, no one moved - nothing. In fact, you’d probably be able to hear a pin drop in this deathly silence.
Finally, Takato smirked, moving back from Ruki and causing her hands to fall from his shoulders and hang limply at her sides.
“I think you’ve gone soft on us, Ruki.” He sneered. “I mean, you’re starting to sound just like Jenrya.” His smirk grew. “I mean, wasn’t it you who used to destroy Digimon and feel no remorse for it afterwards?”
Ruki glared at him.
“What the hell has gotten into you, Matsuda?” She hissed. “I’ll admit, most of what you said is true. But I’ve changed! Ever since the day I was abducted by IceDevimon - I’ve changed! I’ve learned that Digimon are more than just data and tools for fighting! They have thoughts and feelings!” Her eyes shifted to the ground. “You and Jen-kun are the ones who taught me that…”
“Well, I’ve changed my mind!” shouted Takato. “Impmon deserves what he gets! Megidramon, kill him and absorb his data!”
Megidramon nodded and turned to face the unconscious Impmon.
Takato ignored the desperate pleas from his friends, telling him to stop. He just watched the scene unfold before him.
“Kyuubimon, stop him!” cried Ruki, turning to face her partner.
The fox Digimon nodded and raced over. Just as Megidramon was about to destroy Impmon, Kyuubimon picked him up by his bandana and started to run. However, despite her attempt to help Impmon, she found both herself and the small imp (who was still unconscious) wrapped tightly in Megidramon’s tail.
“TAKATO!” screamed Ruki, completely losing her cool as she grabbed onto Takato and shook him violently. “Tell him to stop! Please! Kyuubimon isn’t an enemy! Stop him!”
Her cries were enough to make the dark aura surrounding Takato, to disappear. His eyes returned to their normal cherry red color, and the smirk fell from his look as a look of pure shock replaced his features.
“Oh Kami-sama!” He cried. “What have I done?… Ruki!” He turned and began running to the battle, shouting at Megidramon.
“Megidramon, stop! Let them go! Kyuubimon’s not an enemy!”
But Megidramon didn’t listen. Instead, his hold on the two Digimon increased.
Ruki screamed and fell to her knees, gripping her head and pulling at her hair, causing her ponytail to fall out and allow her red hair to flow down her neck and shoulders. Tears began to build up in her eyes as she watched Kyuubimon writhe and struggle, trying desperately to escape Megidramon’s grasp. Kyuubimon was in pain… and it was all her fault!
“Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!”
“Megidramon, please stop!” sobbed Takato. “You’re hurting them! You’re hurting Ruki!”
But Megidramon didn’t stop/
By this point, Jenrya had ordered Rapidmon to go and help, and in an instant, Rapidmon was attacking Megidramon - trying to make him release Kyuubimon and Impmon - or at least, Kyuubimon.
“Damn!” cursed Jenrya, noticing that Rapidmon was having trouble.
In desperate need of assistance, the half-Chinese Tamer glanced over his shoulder and observed the four Tamers behind him.
‘Juri just lost Leomon, so even if she wanted to help, she couldn’t, and Shuichon is way too young! I won’t risk putting my Onee-chan in danger! As for Hirokazu and Kenta… no… they don’t know the right card combinations… they’d be putting themselves in grave danger if I asked them to help…’
Jenrya turned back to face the fight.
‘It looks like I’m alone on this -’
“DESOLATION CLAW!!!”
Jenrya’s thoughts were immediately interrupted when Cyberdramon appeared from out of nowhere. His Tamer, the infamous Akiyama Ryo, stood by his side, staring downa t them with a look of determination in his eyes.
“Ryo!”
“You’re here!”
“But how -? When -?”
“I’ll tell ya later!” shouted Ryo. “Meanwhile… Cyberdramon! Stop Megidramon… but be careful! He’s got Kyuubimon!”
Cyberdramon nodded and prepared to attack.
_-_-_-_
Takato watched in horror as Megidramon exploded into tiny bits of useless data. The screen of his red and silver D-Arc turned fuzzy, before the entire device shattered completely. In a dazed state, Takato let the broken D-Arc slip from his grasp and fall to the ground, where it dissolved seconds later.Megidramon was gone. He had been destroyed by Cyberdramon.
But now… Guilmonm was gone too…
Takato’s eyes began to tear up.
Guilmon… his best friend… was gone…
He was never coming back…
And it was all his fault!
Tears began to trickle down Takato’s cheeks as realization hit him like a ton of bricks.
If he hadn’t been so blinded by rage… if he hadn’t been so determined to destroy Beelzebumon… Megidramon would’ve never been born… and Guilmon would still be there… but because he had been foolish enough to allow his heart to be consumed by hate… Guilmon had paid the ultimate price: His life.
A strange feeling washed over Takato. He felt so empty inside…
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder. Wiping the tears from his eyes, Takato turned and found Ruki standing there.
“Are you okay?” She asked quietly.
“Ruki… why -? Why are you talking to me? You should hate me right now! Renamon almost died because of me!” shouted Takato.
Ruki’s eyes softened.
“Everyone makes mistakes, Gogglehead.” She said. “No one’s perfect.”
“Yeah, but -”
“Everyone, listen up!” Jenrya’s voice called out, silencing Takato. “Yamaki-san just e-mailed me. They’re sending an Ark here to come pick us up and bring us back home.”
“That’s great!” exclaimed Hirokazu, jumping to his feet, with Guardromon and Kenta following suit.
“However…” continued Ryo, the tone of his voice extremely serious, “Jenrya and I talked for a bit and came to a decision. Takato will have to stay here in the Digital World.”
“WHAT?” exclaimed Hirokazu and Kenta in unison, their mouths dropping in shock.
“It was a tough decision, but we believe it’s for the best. Even if Guilmon is gone, Takato could easily create a new Digimon after he gets his D-Arc repaired, and if Takato’s anger were to get the best of him again, it could put the city in grave danger, and we can’t allow that to happen.” Ryo’s blue eyes flickered over to where Takato and Ruki were sitting. “I’m sorry, Takato, but it’s for the best. If the lives of innocent people weren’t at risk, I’d reconsider, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. You understand, don’t you?”
“Yes…” muttered Takato.
“That’s not fair!” shouted Ruki. “We can’t just leave him here! What about his parents? They’ll be devastated! And -”
“Do you honestly think any of that will matter if the city is destroyed, Ruki?” questioned Jenrya.
Ruki glared venomously at him.
“You!” She hissed. “Don’t even talk! I can’t believe you! Takato’s your best friend and you - you’re just leaving him here? He could die!”
“It’s okay, Ruki.” Takato assured her.
“No, it’s not!” She snapped, before turning back to face the rest of the group. “That’s it! If Takato stays here, then I’m staying too!”
“Ruki, don’t do that…” said Takato. “What about your Mom and Grandma? You told them you’d come back…”
Ruki’s face faltered. He was right.
“But… still!” She said, “I don’t think leaving you here is going to do anything!”
“Fine. Let’s have a vote.” Ryo answered. “Raise your hand if you think Takato should stay here in the Digital World.”
All hands, except for Ruki, Renamon, and Impmon’s, rose in the air - even Juri managed to lift her hand, which nearly brought Takato to tears once again.
Ruki frowned at them.
“It’s official. Takato will stay here, while the rest of us go home.” Ryo announced.
_-_-_-_
It had been three days since the unforgettable incident with Megidramon. Three days since the Ark had arrived in the Digital World to bring them back home. And three days since Takato realized what it was like to feel truly alone in the world. It was a painful feeling. The friends he had known since childhood had turned their backs on him, out of fear that he would make the same mistake twice. His newer friends, like Jenrya and Ryo, had also turned their backs on him, as well as their Digimon.
Takato clenched his fists together, as image of the day the Ark came flashed in his mind over and over again.
“Goodbye, Takato…” Ruki’s voice echoed in his mind.
Takato held back the tears that were once again threatening to escape his eyes.
“You’re pathetic.” A voice sneered from behind.
Takato looked up and whirled around, startled to find a boy around his age - maybe a year or two older - standing there.
That’s when Takato noticed he had a Digimon.
A BlackTailmon.
“You’re a Tamer to?” He asked.
The boy shrugged.
“I guess you could say that.” He said. “My name is Yukiko Takabana, but most people just call me Yuki for short. You’re Takato Matsuda, are you not?”
“Yeah… that’s me… but how did you -?”
“I’m not a psychic, if that’s what you’re thinking.” Yuki interrupted. “Far from it, in fact. No… my Master, Mitsuhiro Yamaguchi, has been watching you for quite sometime now. Ever since you and your… friends… arrived in the Digital World…” Yuki made a strange face. “Let’s just say that my Master was impressed with your ability to make your partner digivolve.”
Takato frowned.
“Impressed?” He exclaimed. “I nearly killed Renamon and I destroyed my best friend! How is that impressive?”
Yuki rolled his eyes and shrugged.
“Don’t ask me.” He said.
“Just get to the point and tell him what we came here for, Yuki.” BlackTailmon snapped, glaring at Yuki through golden eyes.
“I was getting to that.” He assured her, before turning to Takato. “My Master would like you to join us.”
“Us?” repeated Takato. “And just who or what exactly is us?”
“Follow me and you will find out.” Yuki answered, as BlackTailmon held out her paw.
A dark purple sphere hovered into the air and expanded, creating a warp-hole of some kind.
Yuki stepped through and disappeared. BlackTailmon turned to face Takato.
“Well? Are you coming?” She asked. “Or would you much rather stand there gaping like an idiot?”
Takato nodded and stepped through, followed closely by BlackTailmon. Once she stepped through, the warp-hole shrunk and disappeared, so that no unwanted guests could find it.

Lady-Azura: There’s the end of Part 1! I’ve had this idea in my head for a few months now, and I decided to re-read the episode summery and the script (I’d post a link, but FF.net doesn’t allow that), and write this. Don’t expect to have quick updates, because I have two other fanfics I’m working on, plus two other fanfics I’m planning on writing, and finally, two one-shots that I have yet to finish and publish here on FF.net. (Sigh) I’m burying myself with fanfics, and school and work, and with Christmas coming up… I still have to shop for my friends… and then a friend of mine is celebrating a birthday this Friday, and on the eighteenth, two other friends of mine (twins) are celebrating a birthday, so not only do I have to get them Christmas gifts, but birthday gifts as well.Impmon: Why don’t you just get them all a candy cane?
Lady-Azura: Because I enjoy shopping for my friends.
Impmon: (Rolls eyes) Whatever.
Lady-Azura: Oh, by the way, I apologize if the characters are too OOC.
Impmon: Too? Speaking of which - WHAT THE HECK’S DA MATTER WITH YOU?! YOU NEARLY HAD ME KILLED BY PINEAPPLE HEAD!
Lady-Azura: But I didn’t. You were just unconscious.
Impmon: That don’t matter! You - You almost killed me!
Lady-Azura: If it makes you feel any better, I’m sorry.
Impmon: You don’t mean it…
Lady-Azura: No, really, I do.
Impmon: That’s it. I’m outta here. (Disappears)
Lady-Azura: Whatever… Anyways, I hope everyone enjoyed the first chapter. Peace out!
