Digifan316: I still can't believe you wrote a--

{GameGirl tosses a piece of popcorn in Digifan316's mouth and he chokes on it.}

TG (turning around) SHHHHH!

{The fanfic starts}

Nowhere Near>

Crow (drunk): Where the heck am I?

Tom: The middle of nowhere perhaps?

Crow: No, maybe I'm nowhere far.

TG: That doesn't make any sense.

Crow: Or maybe I'm nowhere in the middle?

Tom: I just suggested that!

Crow: No you didn't!

Tom: Yes I did.

Kaden and GameGirl: Shut up, bot boys!!!

GameGirl (jumps up): THAT'S ME!!

All authors and bots: SSSSHHHH!

{Digifan316 pulls GameGirl back into her seat}

Digifan316: I can't take you anywhere.

<"Good practice, guys!" Tai yelled to the overcrowded locker room of-- >

007: Porn stars

{GameGirl, who was sipping on her Sprite, sprays the soda from her mouth and nearly gets the back of R80's head and turns his head. Digifan316 pats GameGirl's back}

R80: Are you okay?

GameGirl: Hack--gag--er, yess… sorry about that.

R80: (turns back around) No prob.

TG: What would porn stars be doing in a lock--oh, nevermind…

007: Oh, dang.

R80 (anonymous soccer player) Get off my foot! Hey, give me back my socks!

<"You too, Davis!"

"Thanks, Tai," Davis groaned.

"What's the matter?" Tai asked, pulling his shirt off>

{Kaden covers her eyes}

Kaden: No leave it on!

TG: No, take it off, Tai! Be my guest!

007: Good lord, it's shonen-ai!!

R80: GameGirl just said it was a Dakari.

007: Daikari? Where's the fun in that?

Kaden: Hey!! Don't make me come over there!

Wolfspirit: I wouldn't be able to hold her back.

< covered with sweat, dirt and grass stains. "If you're worried about the game tomorrow…"

"That's not it," Davis pulled off his own T-shirt off, a bit messier than Tai's.>

Kaden: Yay! Take it off! Take it all of, no, Tai, you keep yours on!

Digfan316: Fell in the mud again, huh Davis?

Kaden (to Digfan316): Hey, shut up!

Digifan316: What did I say?

<"Then what is it?"

"This is kinda awkward for me to talk about," Davis mumbled. How am I supposed to tell my crush's brother what's on my mind? "Well, you know I've got a crush on Kari."

"Yeah, I know. Name someone who doesn't know." Tai joked.>

Tom: Davis has a crush on Kari? No one told me this!

< "And I was um, wondering," he coughed, "if you could," he coughed again, "set me up on a date with her." He coughed again.>

Kaden: Davis is coughing. I hope he's not coming down with something!

Brian (coughing): I do…I do…

<"Oh, no way!" Tai grabbed his shampoo bottle and ran to the nearest open shower. He almost slipped.>

Digifan316 (Tai): Hey, who's the goofball who left his bar of soap in the middle of the locker room?! I almost killed myself!

GameGirl (Davis): I am that goofball!

(Digifan316 and GameGirl chuckle. They both get a glare from Kaden)

Digfan316 and GameGirl: Sorry.

<"Tai, come on!" Davis begged. He stood next to the shower curtain, "please?">

R80 (Davis): Why don't you let me borrow your shampoo? I forgot mine!

<"Are you crazy?" he stuck his shampooed head out of the curtain.

"About Kari, yes!"

"You're nowhere near what Kari's looking for!" Tai closed the curtain and rinsed his head. "Now shut up and shower!">

Digifan316: Ain't that the truth?

<Davis sighed and started showering. He wasn't taking no for an answer. With suds in his hair and a wet towel around his waist, Tai walked out of his shower and into Tai's, who screamed and grabbed a towel.

"Davis!!!!!!!" Tai shouted. "Just because this is an all-guy bathroom, doesn't mean you have the right to invade other's privacy!">

Crow: But it's fun.

Digfan316: Crow!

GameGirl: Someone smack him in the head! 007, you're closer!

007: Why? He kinda has a point. It's fun to play pranks in the locker room. Especially hitting someone in the backside with a wet rolled up towel.

Crow: See? Thanks.

007: No problem.

<The whole locker room erupted with laughter.

"Tai, I'm serious! I'd do anything for a date with Kari!" he muttered. "I'd return your goggles, I'd feed your cat for a week, I'd even steal Matt's guitar!">

TG: Whoa, he really is crazy for Kari!

R80: Steal Matt's guitar, I'd like to see him do that.

GameGirl: I'd like to see him try to feed Meeko.

Digfan316: How come?
GameGirl (grinning evilly) : I can just picture Meeko using him as a scratch post!

Digfan316: You're so evil. I like it!

Kaden: Not if he's how he appears in Ashita. He'll be the one feeding, not the cat.

Digifan316: What?

GameGirl: That's so wrong! I happen to like that cat!

Kaden: What? He's a vampire! He has to get blood somewhere!

GameGirl: But from a cat?

Wolfspirit: Some vampires don't want to get blood from people so they get it from another source, like animals.

<"She's not going to go for this, Davis," Tai groaned, "You're just wasting your time." He brushed past him.

"I'd do anything, man! Anything!" Davis cried, "I care a lot about Kari! I just one date."

"Davis, would you please," he stopped, smiled and turned around, "anything?"

"Anything!">

Digifan316 (Davis): Just as long as I don't have to dress up like a monkey and jump around in the zoo!

<"You'd do anything for a date for Kari, huh?" his smile turned to a grin.

"Hell yes! I'd walk through fire if it would please Kari!">

Digifan316: Can we see that?

(GameGirl laughs)

<"Tai, what are you thinkin'?" another player asked.

Tai walked up to Davis, "tomorrow's the game that could take us to the championships."

Davis nodded.

"Tomorrow Kari's going to a photo fair. If you really want to be with Kari, then you have to sacrifice the game."

"You can't be serious!" Davis gasped, "I must play in the game!"

"Are you saying Kari's not good enough? Huh? You'd rather kick the ball around than be with my sister?" Tai teased.>

R80 (Davis): That's a tough one. Kari or soccer. Kari or soccer. I can't even choose what socks I want to wear so I never change my socks!

TG: That's disgusting!

GameGirl: But it's probably true.

Digifan316: Yeah.

Kaden: Hey!

<"But, but I love soccer!"

"Davis, I love soccer too," Tai said, "but I love Kari more. There have been times I had to sacrifice practice so I could watch her when my parents were out of town>.

007: Ohhhh. Hmmm.

R80: What?

007: Tai sacrificed soccer practice so he could be with Kari.

R80: So? His parents were out of town.

007: I wonder what they did.

Crow: Yeah, makes you wonder, doesn't it?
007: So maybe Darkstar did have some backup when he wrote that Kari/Tai/Sora three way.

GameGirl: You're disgusting!

TG: Yeah, what makes you think when he watched when their parents were out of town that they did…you know, what Darkstar said they did?

GameGirl: He probably didn't watch her at all. Maybe he was in his room the whole time while she was playing with her toys. Kari's a very mature kid. She reallyd oesn't need a babysitter.

TG: Exactly. She was all by herself when Tai came back home mysteriously, remember? And she had a cold too!

007: Still.

<"So, if you really care about Kari, you won't play in the game, okay?"

Great, I have to choose between 2 loves--Kari or the game--I knew it would come to this! "Alright, I care for Kari enough to sacrifice the game."

"Good, I'll tell her," he patted his shoulder, "now go rinse your hair."

Davis turned for the showers.

"Oh, and Davis," Tai said, placing a hand on his hip.>

Digifan316 (British Tai): Do you have any Grey Poupon?

(GameGirl, who was chewing on a Red Vine, nearly chokes on it by laughing)

GameGirl: Hahahahaha! Brian! You idiot! How dare you say something funny when I have something in my mouth!

Digifan316: I couldn't help myself.

<"Yeah?" he turned around.

"You hurt my sister, I hurt you. And I'll be taking my goggles back."

Davis gulped and staggered to the showers.>

007: Ooh, tough guy.

<"Are you kiddin' me with this?" Kari demanded, "a date with Davis?"

"He gave up the game just so he could go with you to your photo thing," Tai said.

"Wow," Kari mumbled, "but Davis?">

Kaden: Come on, Kari, it will be fun! Just give the guy a chance!

<"I know, Kari. But the guy said he'd do anything for just one date with you." Then Tai went to his room.

Kari sighed, "TK, what am I supposed to tell TK?">

Kaden: I know, tell him he sucks!

GameGirl: What? He does not! TK is awesome! Especially when he beat the tar out of Ken!

Kaden: I couldn't think of anything better to say. Besides…it'll be cool to see her tell him that…just once. And I like Ken!

GameGirl: I do too…It was just cool to see TK acting tough for a change.

<she went to the phone and dialed his number. TK was going to go with her to the photo fair, but now she had to cancel.

"Talk to me," TK's sweet voice answered.

"Hi, TK."

"Kari! I was hopin' it was you. Listen, thank you for inviting me to the photo carnival. I'm looking forward to it."

"TK, I, uh, have some bad news."

"Huh?" his voice lost enthusiasm.

"I'm afraid you and I can't go together," she sighed.

"Why?"

"I'm going with Davis.">

Digifan316 (TK): Kari, how could you?!

<"Oh." TK's heart sank.

Hearing his painful response, Kari said, "It's not like I want to. He made a deal with Tai. To go with me, Tai told him not to be in the game."

TK breathed a sigh of relief, "I wonder how Davis is going to handle it."

Kari giggled, "yeah." Then her voice sounded sympathetic. "I'm sorry. I feel awful.">

Tom: Well you should.

<"Hey, it's not your fault. We can do something later."

"Really?"

"Absolutely," TK told her, "I don't have to make a bet with your brother so I can date ya."

They shared a few laughs together and then they hung up.

***THE NEXT DAY***

Davis walked up to Kari's apartment, sighed, ran his head through his hair and circled his neck around. "Okay, here goes nothing." He knocked on the door and Kari opened it a few moments later. "Hi Kari!"

She smiled and then it quickly turned into a frown.

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, Davis thought at the site of her frowning.

Crow: Song lyrics?

TG: Hey, I know this song! It's on the Digimon Movie Soundtrack!

Tom: Oh yeah. I like this one, "Hey Digimon! Hey Digimon!"

GameGirl: Hey, pipe down!

<I'd hate for her to waste her time on me, Davis thought, unable to watch the slight hint of sorrow in her face. Well, I'll try to make this time happy for her. "Come on Kari, let's go have some fun.">

007: Yeah! All right.

GameGirl (whispering to Digifan316): Speaking of fun. Let's have some of our own.

Digifan316: Fun? Okay, what do you have in mind? (He starts to put his arm around her shoulders, but she leans forward and throws a piece of popcorn at Crow's head and it falls on the floor beside him)

Digifan316: Oh.

Crow: Mmm, popcorn! (he picks it up and throws it in his beak)

(GameGirl giggles)

Digifan316: Let me try. (He picks up a piece and throws it. It bounces off R80's head)

Kaden: That looks like fun. (She too starts throwing popcorn at people's heads)

<Davis saw Tai standing near the wall with the infamous "Don't you DARE hurt my little sister!" look. "Have fun." Tai said.

Davis took Kari's hand and they walked to the photo fair. There were many displays of old and new cameras. There were a lot of famous photographers around with their work. Davis started to actually enjoy it. He thought photo stuff would be boring, but it seemed interesting. But he'd still want to play soccer. While looking at a cool picture of a lizard, he turned to Kari who was thumbing through some photo magazines. She still looked so sad.

~But I ain't coming over proving nothing

Davis wanted to go cheer her up some how, but couldn't. He wasn't sure what to say. He sighed, Tai was right. I'm am no where near what's she's lookin' for. He then turned his head to see a photo booth. He smiled and walked to Kari, "hey Kari, come on. I've always loved these things!"

Kari forced a smile, "yeah, me too." She'd rather be with TK. Things would be so different. But Davis was still her friend, although she always had a thing for TK. And slowly, Davis began to see that.>

Digfan316: Finally it got through his thick head.

<~So I'm out of here

Tom (singing): "So I'm out of here. 'Cause I know I'm nowhere near what you want, what you--"

(Sick of Tom's singing, GameGirl throws the whole popcorn bucket at Tom's head. He falls out of his seat and onto the floor. GameGirl, Digifan316 and Kaden laugh. Tom jumps up and turns around.)

Tom: Okay, who threw the popcorn bucket at me?

(GameGirl grabs Digifan316 and they start to make out. Seeing that the couple is 'busy' Tom turns back around.)

Tom: Kids…

GameGirl (pulling away): That was close. Whew.

Digifan316 (love struck and blinking): Eh, wha?

(Kaden leans over to GameGirl)

Kaden (whispering) : Thanks for doing that. His singing was bothering me too!

(GameGirl nods)

Wolfspirit: Nice save too.

GameGirl: Thanks.

Digifan316 (still in awe): Wha?

<They sat in the small photo booth. The first shot Davis and Kari were sitting next to each other just looking into the lens (they weren't ready!), the second one Davis and Kari made silly faces, the third has Davis and Kari smiling and the last Davis pecked Kari's cheek, who blushed.

"Was this fun or what?" he muttered with a big grin. He tickled her gently on the arm.

Kari smiled quickly and it disappeared as quickly as it appeared on her face. She looked down at the ground and frowned, "I think someone else wants to use it now.">

007 (Davis): But I don't see anyone.

<Watching her frown made him frown too, it almost made him cry. "Okay." They stepped out of the booth and waited for their prints to come out.

~I don't want to make you smile

Only to see it turn around.

When you decide I've just let you down~

Their prints came out about two minutes later. Davis laughed, "wow, these turned out pretty cool if I don't say so myself."

Kari looked at the pictures, wishing it were TK with her in the pictures and not Davis.>

GameGirl: Yeah, no kidding.

"Well, maybe we should get going," Kari said finally.

"Yeah," Davis muttered, "okay. Let's go." He took her hand and they left the carnival.>

R80 (looking at his watch): Is this fanfic almost over? When is a break time?

Digifan316 (snapping out of his la-la-la land): Huh, what? Are you saying you don't like my girlfriend's fanfic?

Kaden: Welcome back to Earth, Brian.

R80: I didn't say that. I'm just wondering when it's over or when we get a break. I need to work on an assignment for school.

GameGirl: Relax, the fanfic is almost over.

R80: When is almost?

GameGirl: We are near the end.

Crow (singing): We're nowhere to what is called the ending…

GameGirl: Shut up, Crow! Don't make me poke you in the eyes! I have fingernail polish on this time!

Crow: Shutting up.

<~So I'm out of here

As they walked to her apartment, Davis rehashed over and over his feelings for Kari. He had a crush on her for a very long time. She became an important person in his life, and it wasn't just her looks. He liked her smile and her laugh, but he hardly saw her smile or hear her laugh around him. Only near TK or someone else. He began to see that Kari and TK had some special bond and Davis, although it tore him apart to see them together, he'd dare not ruin that bond. He sighed. Davis would rather see her happy with TK than to have her with him and be miserable.

"Well, thanks, Davis," Kari said pathetically at the door. "See ya later."

"Wait Kari," he gave her hand a weak squeeze, "before you walk through that door, there's somethin' I wanna say to you.">

007 (Davis): Are you on any prescribed medication?

<Kari nodded for him to begin.

Searching for the right thing to say…~

"Kari, listen," Davis said, "I gave up the soccer game so I can't spend what I thought would be the greatest two hours with you.>

TG: Two hours at a photo carnival?

<You're a great person. You're smart, you're pretty and, you're just, well, you're perfect. But I could see that you didn't have a lot of fun tonight and I'm sorry about that."

"Davis--" she began.

"Wait, let me finish," he held his hand up, "I understand. If you don't want to be with me, that's fine. It won't work out, which sucks, but I'll get over it. I just wanna make you happy, too bad I can't do that. Hey, if TK makes you happy, then I say go for it. He's a great guy. I'd hate to get between you two."

Kari couldn't believe Davis was actually saying this. She sniffed.

He put his hand on her shoulder and gave her a weak smile. "But hey, don't worry. I'm not mad. Because we'll still be friends, right?"

Kari nodded.>

Kaden (wiping her eyes): That's so sad! Oh, anyone have a tissue?

(Wolfspirit pats her back)

Digifan316: Ah-ha!

GameGirl: What?

Digifan316: Tai gave him his lucky goggles. So that's why Sora lost interest in him!

Tom and Crow (coughing): Fanboy! Fanboy!

TG (to Crow and Tom): Shut up, you two! (she sits up in her seat and looks at GameGirl and Digifan316) Hey, you've got a point. That's probably why they were so tight in the first season because he had them, then in the second season, he gave them to Davis and they didn't work anymore.

GameGirl: Hmm, yeah. And she started tennis because she started having feeling for him while they were on the soccer team. She couldn't handle it so--

Kaden: Would you PLEASE stop talking about Sora and Tai? I'm about to go nuts! (mumbling under her breath) Sorato forever, Sorato forever…

GameGirl: Oh, sorry.

<"But, Tai gave these to you," Kari said.>

R80 (Davis): Well, tell him I don't want 'em!

<"Well, I really don't need them anymore," Davis said, "Besides, he's the real leader of the digidestined, isn't he?" He tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, "But if things don't turn out between you and TK, I'll still be around."

"Thanks, Davis."

He kissed her forehead, smiled sadly, made an about face and left.

Kari's shoulders heaved slightly as tears formed in her eyes. Not tears of pain or sorrow, but of happiness. She just heard the words she thought Davis would never say, the bravest words that ever escaped his lips. She opened the door and walked inside. She heard some mumbling coming from Tai's room. She knocked on the door and he shouted,>

TG (Tai): Go away!

<"Come in.">

TG: Oh.

<Kari opened Tai's door and he was sitting on his bed with his head in his hands.

"So, how was the game?" she questioned.

"We lost," he muttered. "But we were so close!"

"Sorry to hear that."

"Anyway," Tai sighed and pulled his hands away from his face and sat up. "How was your date with Davis?" He noticed his old goggles in her hand. "My goggles!"

"Yeah, the date was okay," she whispered and put them on his dresser. "Davis just wanted to give them back to you."

"It was okay?"

"Tai, I went with Davis," Kari told him, "you excepted something more?"

"No, I expected less. I expected: 'Davis is a moron!'">

Digifan316: That's what I was expecting.

<Kari yawned and rubbed her head, "well, I'm going to my room now. I want to put these things in a scrapbook. Later."

"Goodnight," Tai said as his little sister left his room.

Kari opened the door, turned on the light and found TK lying on her bed. "Going to bed so soon?">

Crow (TK): I'll join ya.

007: Yeah.

GameGirl: Hey!

<"TK!" Kari gasped, "How did you get in here?"

007 (TK): You left your window open.

<Tai said nothing about you being here!"

"I asked Tai to make it a secret," he swiveled his feet to the floor and smiled up at her, "I just wanted to surprise ya."

"Well, I'm surprised!" she gave him a big hug.

"So, tell me, how'd it go?"

"Let's just say it was nowhere near as good as it would be if I went with you," she stepped back, "but other than that it was okay." The pictures of her and Davis fell out of her pocket and TK went to pick it up. Kari bit her lip in frustration and anxiety, waiting for TK to rip it and begin to lose his temper.>

Digifan316: Come on, TK, rip it! You can do it!

R80 (TK): I tried but the damn paper is too strong.

Digifan316: But Davis is always clueless.

Kaden: Hey!

<Kari sighed and tightened her arms around TK's neck. She shook nervously.

"Hey, what's wrong?" TK put the prints aside and rubbed his hands up and down her back.

"TK, you're the only one who comes anywhere close to what I'm looking for."

Yeah, I know, TK thought, the feeling's mutual. He smiled and looked at her, "hey, don't get all mushy on me now."

Kari laughed, "Oh, TK. Stop it! I mean it!"

"Kari, you're so cute," He tapped her nose, "come on, there's a cool movie out. If we hurry, we can get tickets before they're sold out."

"Sure, let's go!" she took his hand and pulled him out of the apartment, with Tai looking on with a big grin on his face.>

007 (the grandpa from Grumpy Old Men): Looks like TK's going to--

GameGirl: Don't you dare finish that sentence!

007: Watch a movie. What?

<I somehow knew it would all end up like this, Tai thought.

Davis heard cute happy laughter under the bridge and he saw TK and Kari walking. He sighed and put his hands in his pockets, "I'm glad you found what you were looking for. And I'm sorry I wasn't it." He stepped away after drying a few tears and left for his home.>

R80 (anxious): Is that it?

GameGirl: No, there's one more lyric left.

Kaden: So sad!

<~So I'm out of here

GameGirl: Now it's over.

R80: Good! (He jumps from his seat and exits the theatre before anyone else.)

Kaden (wiping her eyes): Nice fanfic, GameGirl, but did you have to break Davis' heart?

GameGirl: Yes.

Kaden: You are so cruel.

GameGirl: I know.

Digifan316: No you're not.

GameGirl: Okay, if you say so.

(The rest of the authors leave the theatre and again GameGirl pokes at the bubbles.)

Digifan316: Haley, stop doing that!

GameGirl: But I can't help it!

{They all meet in the lobby for a thirty minute break and…}
