Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Digi-Rella ❯ Chapter 3
Digi-rella: A Tale of Woe
One tale ends....
"Great job, everybody!" said Tai.
"You were wonderful Biyomon!" Cried Sora.
The digimon ran into the arms of their partners, the crowd still clamoring after their final bow.
"You really think so Sora? I don't have that much experience being evil."
Digitamamon shuffled over. "Take it from someone who knows. You were really good! You could give me some pointers!"
"Really?!" the pink bird smiled happily.
"Sorry about the voltage, Gennai. I've got it for sure now!"
"Don't worry about it Izzy. See? You can hardly see the electrical burns now!" The spiky-haired teen agreed uncomfortably and sweatdropped.
Gomamon and Gatomon were relentlessly teasing Patamon, who was flushed with anger.
"Patamon caught the bouquet! Now he's gotta get married!!" laughed the seal.
"Yeah! What kind of dress should we get, Pata? One with little pink bows on it?"
Joe stepped in before Patamon could rush the duo. "C'mon guys, cut it out. Leave him be, or we'll put you in the dress, Gomamon!"
"You do and I'll...I'll..think of something!"
Two by two the others left, till only Palmon and Gabumon remained.
"You were really great tonight, Gabumon."
"Thanks. Sorry about nearly hitting you with the door."
"I was off-mark anyway. Don't worry about it. Do you think we'll be ready for tomorrow's crowd?"
The wolf-lizard nodded as he hung up his costume. "Sure we will. Look how well we handled opening night, and now we know we can do it, so we'll be even better!"
Palmon smiled, her eyes crinkling into half-moons. She carefully hung up her veil the way Mimi taught her.
"Ummm, Palmon?"
She was busy putting away her shoes. "Yes, Gabumon?"
"Here."
She straightened up and turned to face him. He held up a small box with a bow on it before her.
"Opening night present." He said shyly, head turned bashfully to the ground. She lifted the lid and pulled out a small green crystal-cut glass flask.
"It's...water from Mt. Mihiroshi. Flowers are more traditional, but I thought you'd like this better."
Crimson stained her cheeks. "Thank you so much. I-I didn't get you anything...."
"That's okay. I didn't do it to get something in return. I just...wanted to be nice." his blush deepened, spreading down towards his neck.
"Thank you." She smiled in a small voice, and awkwardly hugged him. Carefully she set the flask on the little vanity table she shared with Biyomon, and fussed with her bridal costume. "You're a very good dancer, by the way."
He was very quiet, and she wondered if he'd already left. When he spoke, he was a lot closer than before. "Thanks. But you know something? I think I still need practice on one thing."
"Oh, Gabumon! You're doing fine! What could you possibly need help with?"
Gently he took her paws and turned her face to his. "I think-I think I need a little more practice on that wedding kiss...."
She didn't know what to say. "Oh."
Gabumon leaned in, eyes closed. She closed her own as her lips gently met his. They stayed that way a few precious moments before parting. Palmon just blinked, her heart racing. Gabumon opened his mouth to speak...
"Hey guys! Ya gonna be in here all night? We're gonna celebrate at the diner! C'mon!"
"Yeah, sure, we're coming!" Gabumon dropped Palmon's paws. She numbly turned and walked to the door.
"Palmon?"
"Yeah?"
"You forgot this." He held out the flask.
"Oh." She took it and walked away again.
"And Palmon?"
"Yeah?"
"You take my breath away, too."
She smiled warmly and reached for his paw, which he eagerlly gave. Together they walked out the exit and joined their friends.
