Chapter One: Conversations Of The Past

It was sometime passed 6:40 p.m. at the Motomiya residence and Davis (age 16) was in his room lying on his bed reading his manga of Gundam Wing. But half of his attention wasn't really in the manga since the other half was elsewhere. Putting the manga down, he sighed as he tried to relieve some of the stress he's been feeling for the passed couple of days. His moment of solitude was interrupted when the door to his room opened up, revealing a female figure entering the room.
Jun (age 19): “Hey, Davis are you OK?”
Davis: “...Just dandy.”
Jun didn't buy her brother's comment. She knew that he's been rather moody and not much like his old self for the passed two weeks.
Jun: “Still upset about Kari (age 16), aren't you?”
Davis: “...A little. It's been over four months she broke up with me. So what's it to you?”
Jun: “Look Davis, I'm sorry about what happened between you both. But I'm sure that you'll get over it in time.”
Davis: “...I suppose.”
Jun: “...Look, if you want my opinion she never deserved you anyway. You're bound to find someone ten times better and more beautiful than that Kamiya twit.”
Davis: “Well, enough about my problems, I don't need you worrying yourself over them. I'll deal with them. By the way, are your friends still coming over for that sleep over you've been talking about for the last four days?”
Jun: “Yeah. They're to be here in another hour. And with mom and dad away for the weekend, it'll be loads of fun for us girls.”
Davis: “Well, I hope you and your friends enjoy yourselves.”
Jun: “I know we will.”
She said nothing further as she stepped out and closed the door behind her. Going back into her room, she turned her attention to other things and decided to get everything ready for her slumber party; from soda, to chips, movies, and manicures. While she did this, she soon saw Davis step out his room with his jacket on heading towards the front door.
Jun: “And where are you going?”
Davis: “I'll be at Ken's (age 17) place. Is that alright with you?”
Jun: “Sure, whatever.”
Saying nothing else, Davis placed his sneakers on and stepped out of the apartment, beginning his walk to Ken's place. Shrugging, Jun went back to what she was previously doing.

(An Hour And Fifteen Minutes Later)
Jun was finishing getting everything ready for her slumber party with her friends when the doorbell rang. She stopped what she was doing and headed over to the front door. Looking through the peephole, she came to see three of her friends standing outside the apartment. Unlocking the door, she opened and allowed her friends into her apartment, all of whom had their sleep bags with them.
Her friends were Ami Takakawa (age 18), Naomi Fujiko (age 19), and Izumi Kaiba (age 17). Ami had long black hair and blue eyes whereas Naomi had long chestnut brown hair that was tied in a ponytail and light brown eyes. As for Izumi, she had long blond hair that reached down her back with light aqua green eyes. All three girls were rather attractive and like Jun, they had the slender body figure to testify to that.
Jun (smiled): “Hey you three finally showed up!”
Ami: “Nice to meet you too.”
Izumi: “So where's the party?”
Jun: “Inside. Come in.”
The three girls walked and took their sneakers off at the front door. Closing and locking the door, the girls now made their way further into the apartment. Going into Jun's room, the girls set their sleeping bags down.
Naomi: “What a day. After a long and dull day, a nice sleep over would be rather nice.”
Izumi: “So Jun, where's your brother?”
Jun: “He's over at Ken's, leaving the place to us girls now.”
Naomi: “I'm down with that.”
All three of Jun's friends have known Davis since he was thirteen years old; and pretty much they and Davis were cool with each other. None of the girls however had any boyfriends.
Jun: “So what do you all want to first?”
Ami: “How about some food, because I'm starving.”
Naomi: “Ami, you've just ate not too long ago.”
Ami: “So what.”
Izumi: “Keep that up and you'll lose that shape of yours.”
Ami: “Hey, I watch my figure unlike some girls I know.”
The girls went on with each other as they headed into the kitchen.

(At The Ichijouji Residence; An Hour Later)
Davis was over at Ken's place playing a game of chess with him. Ken managed to get Davis into playing chess in order to get Davis' mind off some of his troubles. After Davis played another move, Ken made his final move on his best friend.
Ken: “Checkmate.”
Davis: “What?!”
Davis looked to see how Ken managed to catch him off guard like that.
Davis: “That's not possible. This game was rigged.”
Ken: “It's only the two of us playing, so how could I have rigged it?”
Davis: “Anything is possible.”
Ken: “I see that something's bothering you. Care to share it with me?”
Davis: “Forget about it. It's nothing.”
Ken knew what it was that was bothering his friend and partner.
Ken: “It's Kari.”
Davis (annoyed): “What of her?”
Ken sighed seeing that he hit a nerve.
Ken: “She's the reason why you can't focus.”
Davis: “What makes you say that?”
Ken: “It's clear that you've been acting different for the passed number of days and she's the cause of it.”
Davis: “Try having your heart and feelings toyed with and then stepped on. Can't see how someone like her was given the Crest of Light.”
Ken: “...I guess appearances aren't always as they seem.”
Davis: “In other words?”
Ken: “In other words, Kari isn't the girl you always though she was. She proved to be the opposite of what you had always thought she was. My advice to you is for you not to dwell on it. If you do it'll only eat you up more.”
Davis: “I know, and like I told Jun, I'll work my way through it. So don't worry about me.”
Ken: “Are you sure?”
Davis: “Have you ever known me for doing anything stupid?”
Ken (teasingly): “Should I answer that?”
Davis: “If you weren't my friend I'd have knocked your light out.”
Ken: “Don't let that stop you. I could go for a good fight right now if you want.”
Davis couldn't help but laugh at his friend. Ken too started laughing.
Davis: “Well that's one way of relieving some stress.”
Ken: “A good laugh does help, that's something you taught me bro..”
Davis was taken aback by what Ken called him.
Davis: “Did you just called me “bro.”?”
Ken: “I did. Over the course of time since we've been best friends, you've become like a dear brother to me. And you know I don't betray my friends, especially one like you.”
Davis (smiled): “Thanks, I touched, seriously. By the way, what time is it?”
Ken looked at his wristwatch and saw what time it was.
Ken: “Seven minutes after 9 o'clock.”
Davis: “It's that late already? Well, I better be on my way now. Hopefully I can find something to do at home to keep me occupied.”
Getting up from off his seat, Davis took his jacket and placed it on. Stepping out of Ken's room, Davis went to the front door and placed his sneakers back on.
Davis: “Well, Ken it's been fun. Thanks again for having me over.”
Ken: “Come by whenever you like. You're always welcomed here.”
Davis: “Right. Bye now.”
Opening the door, Davis stepped out and started off on his out of Tamachi and on way his back home in Odaiba.
