Chapter Six: Cold and Numb

(Takato's Pov)

It seemed like I was never going to get out of the hospital. When I did, I got two bags of bread and headed to see Gulimon. When I got there he was glad to see me and I sort of was too.

(Gulimon Pov)

"Takato!"

I ran up to him as he bent down to one knee with his arms out. We both held each other for one moment in silence.

"You must be starving, so I brought you your favorite," He said reaching into the bag and pulling out what looked like ... "Peanut Butter bread!"

I tried to keep myself from drooling as the handed me the bread. I let my teeth sink into the bread as the peanut butter melted on my tongue.

I can eat peanut butter all day long.

(Takato's Pov)

His eyes shined as he came running toward me merrily knocking me over. He held each other close for what seemed forever. It was nice see Gulimon again.

"You must be starving," I said after we hugged reaching into the bag for his favorite, "so I got you your favorite, peanut butter bread!"

He gasped as he face lit up even more as I handed the bread over to him. I couldn't help but chuckle as he popped the hole inter thing in his mouth. I emptied the rest of the bag of bread sat back as Gulimon popped one pace of bread after another. Leaning back against the cold wall, I closed my eyes letting thoughts go free when ....

"Come on Lee, let's go to the park."

My eyes popped open as my body sat strait up. I got to my feet walked to the stairs and froze. Standing there at the bottom of the stairs hand in hand with his little sister was

Lee.

"Takato, what's going --- Terriermon! Hey!"

Gulimon ran past me down the long flight of stairs to his friend. I ran after him telling him to come back. I stopped at the bottom face to face with the one person I did not want to see. He looked as if he has been crying. His eyes widen with fear and seemed to cloud over with sorrow. I stared to feel my body starting to shake as I looked down at the ground.

"Hey, Lee, can I rid on the Dinosaur? Please! Please! Please!"

"I have no problem with that. What do you think Takato? Is that okay with you?"

(Terriermon's Pov)

"No!" They both said at once.

"Come, Suzi, we're going home!"

"You coming, Guilmon?" Takato called to him from the first flight of stairs.

"I want to rid on the Dinosaur!" Suzi demanded a hint of wanting in her voice.

"You keep that up, and I won't take you out!"

I could see Lee tightening his grip on her little sister's hand as we walked to the direction of the apartment. Suzi's body started to shake as she stopped with a halt using all her strength to stop her brother from moving. Oh great! She's going to throw another fit like she didn't have enough of those today. I glared back at my tamer with a 'oh-thanks a lot! Now she's going to use me as a weapon' expression hoping that he would read my thought. She rested her head on my head when a drop of water slid down my forehead and stopped when it reached my nose.

"Why are you so mean to me?" She choked.

(Lee's Pov)

The words struck me like arrows as I kept my back to her. I didn't want to see her when she looks like this, it makes me feel helpless. Before I could comprehend or do anything to stop it, Suzi yanked her hand out of mine dropped Terriermon and started to run toward the busy street crying. I immediately took off after her telling her to stop but it was no use, she didn't even acknowledge that I was calling for her.

"Lee, what's the matter?"

I stopped dead turned around to see Takato and Guilmon. I was about to see something when ....

"HAAAAAAA!!!!"

I pivoted and saw my whole life change right before my very eyes. The tires to the car screeched as everything went into slow moisten. I tried to call out for her to move but I couldn't bring my shaky voice out.

"Look out!!"

(Takato's Pov)

I froze in horror as the car came closer to her when ....

"Look out!!"

Guilmon ran past me like flash of lightning running onto the street pushing Suzi out of the way of the on coming car as it hit ...

"HAAAA!"

That's all I could do. Just scream. I couldn't stop shaking either. My body hurt so much. Is this what being hit by a car feels like? Guilmon!!! He's ... no he can't die! He just can't! He's the only true friend I have! That's when I started to feel lightheaded and cold.

"Guilmon, hold on!"

I tried to open my eyes to see what was going on but my vision was so blurry and my back felt and wet that I started to shake even more as I started to breath even harder. What's wrong with me? Hands slide underneath me lifting off the ground.

(Lee's Pov)

I never felt so shaken in all my life. Why did Guilmon have to do that to me? I almost lost the two people I really care and now he's very weak. Suzi followed me back to the apartment as Terriermon stayed behind. I laid Takato on my bed still shaking.

"What's going on?" My dad panicked as he burst into my room. "Suzi is shaking really badly and ...Lee, you have some explaining to do."

"I know." I replied looking down.

"Look, son, you're not in trouble. Your mother and I just very confused. Suzi is even worried about you. She even said that it was her fault for what happened."

I finally looked up at my father. I could tell that he was serious about it but my little sister taking the blame for something that really my fault? She didn't have to do that. I was really my fault, I said no in the first place all because I didn't really want to face the one person I was thinking about.

"I --- I better get a wash cloth."

"I better get the addvile to bring down his tempter."

(Suzi's Pov)

I walked down the hallway to see the my brothers door was open. I walked in to see that the boy that had that Dinosaur was lying his bed. I wonder why he's snoring like that? I walked up and touched his arm, it was hot and wet. He started to make all these funny noises that made me start to laugh.

"Your funny."

"Huh?"

He turned his head and looked at me. I smiled and said that it was time to get up.

"Good. Your okay."

"Let's play!" I said grabbing him by the arm.

"OW! Stop it! That hurts!"

I stared at him for one moment recognizing the voice.

"You're that angry kid that always calls for Lee ...."

(Takato's Pov)

"You're that angry kid that always calls for Lee ..."

I still laid there shivering a little as her words echoed though my mind. Do I really sound angry when I talk on the phone? No one said I did.

"Do I sound angry on the phone?"

"You do when I talk but when you talk to my brother his face changes ..."

" What does it change to?" I asked.

"Happy. You make him happy."

"Suzi," her mom said as she walked in, "ah, there you are. It's time for your bath."

She giggled at me and walked out. Why am I not surprised that I can make girls giggle. I closed my eyes when I felt a cold damp cloth touch my face, I opened them again to see Lee gently dabbing my face with a soft wet cloth. For a long while we said nothing as he touched my face. Just having him so close just makes me feel so out of control that I couldn't control it any more.

"Lee, I'm so sorry ..."

Nothing.

He said nothing as he got to his feet and started to walk out. I got out of bed limped over to him took a hold of his shoulder turned him around and pulled him close. He tried to pull away but I had a good hold despite all the strength I used so he could not run from again. By the time we stopped Lee had tears in his eyes, I reached out my hand and touched his face. Leaning closer I started to kiss the tears as they slide down his soft cheek.

"Takato ... you should rest ... your fever ..."

By that time I was kissing his neck. Lee stood me straight picked me up and carried to the bed and laid me down. My body was still shaking. That's when my body stiffened. It still really hurt but not as much as it did when the car hit.

"Your still cold!"

"Yea, drag isn't?"

"There's only one choice left ... I'll have to get in with you."

He's got to be jockeying? Be in the same bed with my boyfriend? What if his parents come? What if Suzi comes in? Besides she's too young to understand about this stuff. Lee walked to the other side of the bed took his shoes and vest off removed the covers and laid close to me.

(Lee's Pov)

His whole body was shaking and his skin was like ice as I put my vest on his chest. I still had the cold cloth in my hand as I dabbed his face. I have to remove the shirt some how. I sat him up pulled it over his head quickly dashed to the my closet got out a clean one dashed to the bed slipped in on and laid him back down. I got back into bed to snuggle closer to him to keep him worm.

The only thing I can do now is wait and see if there are any changes by morning.
