Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Digimon Tamers: Reconfigured ❯ A New Adventure ( Chapter 1 )

DIGIMON TAMERS: RECONFIGURED

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Digimon. If I did I would have had connections between 02 and Tamers so that people didn't have to write "Let's take what we've seen in both and relate it" fanfics (which incidentally this is NOT). Also, it wouldn't have been on Fox Kids, if you catch my drift. Also, "A Million Points of Light" would have ended with everyone getting teased with quick glimpses of their Digimon before the Sovereigns decided that there was too much evil on earth to allow everyone to have a Digimon (well, it's still better than that cop-out). Oh, and Jeff Nimoy would have been fired after "Enter Flamedramon". Well, that disclaimer certainly turned into a rant quickly. I'll have to stop doing that.

Author's Note: This fic is rated PG-13 for one of two reasons.

Just in case I slip slightly over the line at some point (okay, I plan to)

Because I refuse to acknowledge that I could write something "PG" Rated.

Take your pick. Also, in accordance with what I started in Darkened Hopes, the Japanese title will be under the English one.

Narrator (Davis narrator of Tamers): So the Tamers were fighting in the D-Reaper Zone when the part in the real world tried to merge with the part in the Digital World. In order to stop it Sakuyamon sent all her power to Justimon's blade. Then, while the gap was still open, Terriermon found out that the program inside him was a modification of Juggernaut. Megagargomon flew into the gap and activated the program, but Shibumi thought something was wrong. And was he ever right, he had forgotten to take into account the Hybrid nature of the Megas. As they separated into Tamers and Digimon, Kenta and Kazu came in and saved them. Unfortunately the Digimon had to leave after the Reaper was defeated, but Takato promised Guilmon they'd meet again and where there's a will and Diginomes, there's a way! (shot of astonished Takato looking at the portal)

THEME: TAMERS VERSION

"A New Adventure"

(Tamer Reunion. Enter Vamdemon.)

Takato: (VO) It's been a year since we defeated the D-Reaper.

(Takato walks into the park)

Takato: (VO) 364 days if you want to be technical. Tomorrow we're having a reunion in the park, around Guilmon's old hideout. Of course, the ones who should be there the most can't be there, so it's more of a Tamer reunion than anything else.

(Takato finally arrives at Guilmon's former hiding place where Jeri is sitting looking solemnly at a Leomon card)

Takato: (VO) We've tried to get back to life as it was before the Digimon arrived, but Jeri's violation by the D-Reaper opened up a Pandora's Box that none of us have been able to close. And the fact that Guilmon Bread's selling like hotcakes doesn't exactly help.

Takato: Jeri, like it or not, all the wishing in the world won't bring him back.

Jeri (crying): What about the Diginomes? Their sole purpose is to grant wishes. If one of them heard it might do something.

Takato: Maybe, but they would need something to work with. They would also need the code from a Blue Card.

Takato: (VO) We haven't tested the portal yet, since we don't know its stability. That's one of the reasons for tomorrow's meeting.

(Cut away to Rika)

Rika: (thinking) Has it really been a year? I mean the date's marked on the calendar, and has been since January first, but I just refuse to believe it's been that long.

(The phone rings in the background. Rika picks it up)

Rika: Hello. Nonako residence.

(Split screen shot shows us Ryo on the other end)

Ryo: Hello Rika.

Rika: Ryo. What are you calling about?

Ryo: Do I really need a reason?

Rika (blushing): I guess not.

Ryo: In any case, this is about tomorrow.

Rika: What about it?

Ryo: Do you think that portal's gonna work?

Rika: Just in case it doesn't, let's have Kazu go through first. After all, in all his time what did he do?

Ryo: He provided much-needed backup when things were at their worst. He distracted the Agents long enough for me to destroy them. Plus he was good for a laugh once in a while. You should consider trying that some time.

Rika: Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow. And then we'll finally determine if a Queen beats a King in cards.

Ryo: I guess I'll see you then. And I'll give you a "royal" beating in that match up.

(Both hang up)

(Cut to the Wong household where Suzie is unable to control her excitement)

Suzie (Hyperactively): Henry-I-can't-wait-for-tomorrow-I-want-to-see-Lopmon-and-Terriermon-and-all -the-other-digimon-again.

Henry: I'm looking forward to tomorrow as much as you, but you realise that the portal may not work, right? It is possible that we'll never see them again.

Suzie: Don't-think-that-way-Henry-remember-what-Terriermon-always-used-to-say-mone ntai-don't-worry-about-it.

Henry: I know, everything's probably going to go according to plan, but there's still the possibility that going through the portal could kill us.

(Janyu enters the room)

Janyu: You two should get some sleep, you've got a big day ahead of you tomorrow.

Henry: I know, dad. I know.

(Henry and Suzie go to their beds and fall asleep)

(Commercial lead in)

[Takato: Digimodify! Break activate!

(Digivolution screen, but instead of "Digivolution" it says "Commercial"

Metallic Voice: Digimon will be right back.]

COMMERCIAL

(Commercial leadout)

[Impmon: Hey whaddaya know? We're back!]

(The next day in the park Takato and Jeri are standing by Guilmon's hiding spot and the portal. Rika is the first to arrive after them.)

Takato: Hey, Rika, what took you so long?

Rika: The fact that I don't have the quickest route to this exact spot mapped out in my mind. How'd she get here so quickly?

Takato: She walked with me.

Rika: You sure that's all she did with you? You didn't have a little "fun" before the big day? Maybe cast aside inhibitions and clothes?

(Takato and Jeri start blushing)

Voice: Sheesh, just ask `em straight forward if dey've been bonin'! Hey, if yer wonderin' `bout da portal, it woiks. Trust someone who knows from `xperience.

Rika: I was really hoping you wouldn't be the first Digimon I saw today.

Voice: An I was really hoping ta go five minutes witout da thought of BBQin' one a ya crossin' my mind!

(Impmon steps out of the shadows)

Takato: Sorry to disappoint you, but Ai and Mako aren't here.

Impmon: I knew dat! Ya tought I wouldn't be able ta smell my own tamers? Where are dey anyways?

(Takato looks down)

Takato: They… couldn't make it. They're at their fu… their grandmother's funeral.

(Rika leers at Takato in a `what the hell are you doing' way)

(Henry and Suzie arrive)

Henry: Well, I see the portal works. Impmon, why did you volunteer to test it?

Impmon: I have my reasons.

Suzie: See-Henry-I-told-you-everything-would-be-fine-but-you-didn't-listen-to-me-y ou-were-too-busy-worrying-over-every-little-thing-that-could-go-wrong-and-e verything-went-according-to-plan-anyways-and-you-were-wrong.

Takato: How does she do that in one breath?

Henry: Years of practice. Jeri's being pretty quiet.

Takato: Can you blame her? This is probably bringing her more bad memories than good ones. Don't forget what happened to her during that time. Her mind was invaded to the point of violation by the D-Reaper. All her painful memories of the past were brought back with a vengeance and forced into her consciousness. She was, to be completely frank, MINDRAPED! Of course she's going to be silent!

(awkward silence)

Suzie: Henry, what's "mindraped?"

Henry: It means her most painful memories were exposed and taken advantage of by the D-Reaper.

Suzie: That's two words, right? I know what a mind is, but what's…

Henry: (quickly cutting his sister off) I'll tell you when you're older. For now all you need to know is it's a violation.

Takato: Come on, Henry, she's eight.

Rika: First, she's seven. And second in all your wisdom, Goggle Head, at what age do YOU think young girls should be exposed to that?

Takato: Well, when you put it that way… (quickly changing the subject) Hey, look who's coming!

(Cut to Kenta and Kazu running towards them)

Kazu: Hey, wait for us! Sorry we took so long, but it took me hours to convince Kenta not to bring his `lucky underwear' this time.

Kenta: Yep, I've only got the pair I'm wearing now!

Kazu: I made sure of that!

(Rika looks at them in a way that says `how stupid do you think we are? That's not what took you so long', but doesn't make any comment)

Henry: Don't worry, we're not going anywhere for a while.

Impmon: Yeah, `least not `til da Ice Queen's boyfriend shows.

(Ryo comes walking in from the other side)

Impmon: Huh, speaka da devil. Okay, now dat yer all here I'm gonna have ta tell ya something. I came here `cause something was treatenin' da digital woild. Okay guys, ya c'n come trough now.

(Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon, Calumon Monodramon, Guardromon, Lopmon and Marineangemon come out of the portal)

Guilmon: Takato, did you bring any…

(Takato reaches into his bag and pulls out a loaf of Guilmon bread)

Guilmon: Hooray! Guilmon bread, Guilmon bread, munchy crunchy Guilmon bread…

Terriermon: Is he gonna do that every time you give him a piece of bread?

Impmon: Not if I c'n help it! Listen up, if you keep singin' dat song I'll just have ta Badda-Boom ya back ta da stone age!

(Guilmon stops singing)

Impmon: Dat woiked…

Guilmon: Pyro Sphere!

(Impmon just barely avoids the attack)

Guilmon: Guilmon bread, Guilmon bread, it's the bread shaped like my head…

Impmon: Or not…

Marineangemon: Pu pui pu.

Kenta: Good to see you too buddy.

Kazu: I still don't get how you can tell what he's saying!

Guardromon: I can rarely tell what you are talking about, but that has not presented too much of a problem before

Takato: Jeri, why aren't you looking?

Jeri: I know I won't see what I want to. I know Leomon's not here.

Impmon: Oh, dat's right. Lay on da guilt trip. Nevah mind what I've put myself trough every day since it happened!

Takato: Uh, nobody mentioned your name or Beelzemon.

Impmon: (still ranting) Nevah mind dat if I could take back my deal wit dat dog I would! Nevah mind dat if I could sacrifice myself to bring `im back I would! No, Impmon can't possibly've loin'd a lesson! After all, Virus types exist only ta fight an' kill an' destroy all dat is good! Hey, why don't ya ask Guilmon or Monodramon about dat? Hell, why don't ya ask Ai or Mako about da "cruel uncaring beast" known as Impmon!

Rika: Because we would need to be chanellers to do that!

Takato: Rika, do you really want to get him mad?

Rika: You can't hide something like that from him and expect him to trust you. (To Impmon) I'm sorry that Goggle Brain, who, just to put things into perspective, also thought it would be a good idea to tell a seven year old about rape, decided not to tell you this, but they were killed in a car crash.

(Impmon looks stunned)

Henry: If it's any consolation they were killed upon impact and didn't suffer.

Impmon: Oh, dat makes me feel a whole hell of a lot better! "Yer tamers' young lives were tragically ended, but at least dey didn't suffer". Dat's consolation? (Dripping sarcasm) I feel so much bettah now. Tanks fer da comfort!

Jeri: (coldly) It's better than what Leomon got.

Kenta: Hey, Jeri, you heard the rant, didn't you?

Calumon: This is all too depressing.

Kazu: Don't sweat it. If things start like this they can only get better, right? Right?

Rika: Either that or they can just go further downhill and we'll all be dead by the end of the day.

Ryo: Ever the optimist.

Rika: Optimist is just another word for ignorant fool.

Takato: Well they say ignorance is bliss…

Rika: Then how's the view from Nirvana, Goggle Head?

(Before Takato can come up with a reply the portal glows again and the hiding space is shattered)

Terriermon: Guys? I think we may have an uninvited guest.

(we see a dark silhouette of a creature rising from the rubble of Guilmon's hideout)

Rika: This is looking promising. (holds out her D-Power) Ah, Shadowdevimon. Ultimate level Virus type. Attacks are Shadow Strikes, Dark Entrapment, and Final Darkness.

Takato: Ultimate? Is that even a challenge? Come on, Guilmon, let's teach him a thing or two.

Guilmon: Right behind you!

BIOMERGE DIGIVOLUTION

(begin Biomerge sequence with Takato positioning his D-Power)

Guilmon: Guilmon, biomerge to…

(None of the normal effects take place and Takato and Guilmon are left standing there)

Takato: Absolutely nothing.

Rika: Let me handle this. (pulls out a card) You ready, Renamon?

Renamon: Ready as I'll ever be.

(Modify sequence begins)

Rika: Digi-modify!

(the card turns blue while it's slashed)

Rika: Matrix digivolution, activate!

MATRIX DIGIVOLUTION

(normal Digivolution sequence starts because the Digivolution is from Renamon not Kyubimon)

Renamon: Renamon, Digivolve to…

Kyubimon: Kyubimon!

(Matrix Digivolution sequence begins)

Kyubimon: Kyubimon, matrix digivolve to…

(nothing happens)

Rika: That didn't exactly go according to plan.

Takato: Well, you got further than me.

(Shadowdevimon vanishes)

Rika: Not that it really matters. He just vanished. Like he couldn't survive in this world.

Takato: Maybe, but I have a feeling we should keep our eyes open.

Rika: It won't matter anyways. He's an Ultimate. We won't be able to defeat him with a bunch of Champions and a Mega without any attacks. It's all over!

(Cut to an interior shot of HYPNOS)

Yamaki: I realise we're only supposed to monitor activity, but this is bad. We're going to need to use Juggernaut

Reily: That won't be possible. We had it installed into Terriermon.

Yamaki: Fine. We'll have to settle for Yugoth.

Tally: That one was installed in Grani.

Yamaki: Dammit! What can we do?

Reily: Pretty much sit back and watch this play out.

[Jeri: You can try to change your destiny, but don't change the channel.]

COMMERCIAL

[Henry: Where are you going? We're back!]

(Fade in on the Matsuki house. Takato is outside knocking on the door)

Takato: Mom? Dad?

(Takato pulls out a key)

Takato: If you won't come to the door then I'll let myself in.

(Takato unlocks the door)

Takato: Mom?

(Takato finds a note on the wardrobe)

Takato: (reading) Takato we've gone out this evening. We'll be back around midnight. Mom and Dad. (thinking) Phew, for a second I thought he'd gotten them.

(Cut to the Wong house)

Janyu: I see you brought your Digimon home again.

Henry: And this time we'd like it to stay that way.

(cut to Jeri coming home with Impmon and Calumon)

Jeri: I'm back. And look who I brought.

Mikiko: (Jeri's brother): Calumon!

(Jeri grabs a card and runs upstairs with Impmon)

Jeri: Let's see if this works. Digi-modify! Data release activate!

Impmon: Of course it's not gonna woik. It might woik if ya had da right D-Powah, but dat one's not respondin' ta me.

(Cut to the Matsuki house where the phone starts ringing. Takato picks up the phone.)

Takato: Hello?

Voice: You know who this is, and you probably know what it's about.

Takato: Mr Yamaki?

Yamaki: Good, now let's see if you know why.

Takato: Large amount of Digimon arrivals today?

Yamaki: No, just one specific powerful one.

Takato: Shadowdevimon, right.

Yamaki: Yes. Do you realise what he is?

Takato: A powerful virus type?

Yamaki: That doesn't even begin to describe it. He is the Ultimate form of Devimon and Daemon. You have to defeat him before he reaches full power.

Reily: (OS) Sir, you should take a look at this.

Yamaki: I'm being informed there's several digimon lining up at that exact spot. Yes, you have your partners back, but at what cost?

(Takato hangs up)

(Yamaki hangs up)

Reily: We have several Ultimates and maybe even a few Megas lined up by the portal.

Yamaki: Close it before any further damage is done.

Tally: We've tried that, it's being held open by some dark force.

Yamaki: Fine, use… Dagon!

Reily: Sir that technology is untested. We have no idea what it could do!

Tally: Sir, you can't put innocent lives at stake in this.

Yamaki: Innocent lives are at stake already. It's just a matter of if we want the damage they'll cause or the much more minor damage we could cause.

Reily: I hope you know what you're doing…

(She pushes a button and a beam of light fires towards the portal. The portal is hit and there's a blinding flash of light.)

Yamaki: That had better have done it.

Tally: Sir, the blast only seems to have enlarged the portal.

Yamaki: That can't be!

[Guilmon: Time to grab a snack, but be back soon]

COMMERCIAL

[Yamaki: Coordinates are locked in. Activate the show.]

(The next day the Tamers are meeting in the park)

Rika: So, anyone run into Formless, Dark and Evil?

Takato: No, but I got a call from Mr. Yamaki. He says that it's the Ultimate stage of Devimon and Daemon.

Terriermon: That's just what I needed. A powerful evil Digimon lurking in town.

Impmon: Yakami? Since when does `e know an evil Digimon from a computah virus?

Takato: Since he realised that he should know about his job.

Renamon: How can we defeat him when we can only reach the Champion stage?

Takato: I didn't quite get that far into the thought.

Lopmon: Maybe Zhuquaiomon can help.

Rika: Are you kidding? He couldn't give a Sukamon's ass if the Real World was destroyed! He hates humans for no apparent reason other than we're not Digimon. The only reason he didn't destroy us in the first place was because the D-Reaper was a common threat!

Takato: It doesn't matter! We can just use the Power cards! That was how you defeated Sandiramon, right Henry?

Henry: Right. And Kinburumon was taken out by two champions, one who didn't even have a tamer ye…

(Henry stops as he sees tears welling up in Jeri's eyes)

Henry: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…

Jeri: (crying) No, it's okay. It's not your fault. Go on.

Henry: The point is we've seen Champions take out Ultimates before. Besides, what could possibly be more dangerous than the D-Reaper?

(Myotismon suddenly rises out of the portal)

Rika: Does that answer your question?

Takato: I suggest we finish this somewhere that our lives aren't in danger.

Kazu: I second that!

(The Tamers all go running)

Henry: Please tell me that wasn't…

Rika: It was. Myotismon, Ultimate level, Virus type and, last I checked, scourge of all humanity. Attacks are Grizzly Wing, Nightmare Claw and Crimson Lightning. He's just about the last Digimon you want following you!

Myotismon: Apparently my reputation precedes me. You've all watched that damn anime, right?

Takato: That's a pretty safe bet!

Myotismon: Then I suppose you won't believe I'm here to find a partner?

Rika (rolls her eyes): Not unless his name is "Adolph Hitler".

Myotismon: Shame, that one from the anime has spoiled my species' reputation.

Henry: No offence, but only the Sovereigns could convince us to trust you.

Kazu: And not just Zhuquaiomon either. He's homosapienphobic.

Myotismon: Okay, so maybe I'm not looking for a partner.

Takato: I knew he was lying!

Myotismon: Maybe've I found her.

Rika: Sorry, I already have one. And I have no intention of going through what I went through with Icedevimon again.

Myotismon: What gave you the idea I was talking about you? For a girl who so despises the concept of being a model you certainly are self-centered. No, I am talking about Jeri Katou.

(Everyone looks stunned)

Takato: Jeri? How do you feel about all this?

Jeri: I'm a tamer again. How do you think I feel? Welcome to the team, Myotismon.

(Myotismon dedigivolves to Bakemon)

Jeri: Or Bakemon.

Narrator: Whoa, talk about a plot twist! Jeri taming Myotismon? I know stranger things have happened, but not many! How's this gonna work out? Find out next time on Digimon: Digital Monsters!

END NOTE: Yes, this will keep me from writing another chapter to Darkened Hopes any time soon (dodges rotten tomatoes). I will eventually work on writing non-script versions of my fics, which will cause further delay (dodges more flying fruit), but this format takes the least time for now. I promise the next chapter of Darkened Hopes will be up before the summer ends. It may only be at Mediaminer, however, if ff.n continues to screw around like Yolei at an orgy (dodges tomatoes from Yolei fans). Also, in case anyone didn't get it, the commercial lead ins and lead outs are parodies of the Fox Kids ones (e.g. Henry: This is no game of chance, we're back on Fox Kids). Oh, and I've got a fun game of "Spot the Foreshadowing" in here too. There's a lot, some through actual lines, but some through omission of lines. And some red herrings just so you don't get the entire plot from this point. And, before you ask, yes, that is what I'm trying to get at with Kazu and Kenta. They're so blatant (at least to me) and yet very few have even thought of writing them yet. Viva Hirota! Viva Jukato! Viva Leeki! (unless I come up with a better idea…) Comments will be appreciated, criticism will be accepted, flames, especially ones to do with Kenta and Kazu, or (my personal favourite) "THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE TV SHOW! STOP TRIING TWO FOL US, U STOOPID JERK! (insert preferred couple here) 4EVAH!" will be mercilessly mocked before the next chapter (in the fine tradition of Gobshite McNally (aka Shitey-G, aka gobshitemc, aka HeWiE, aka Scientomologist at ffn). This baby's gonna go on for a long time, so strap in and enjoy the ride.
