Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Digimon Tamers: Reconfigured ❯ Double Disaster ( Chapter 14 )

DIGIMON TAMERS: RECONFIGURED

Disclaimer: Still own jack-squat. But the characters are that much closer to public domain.

Narrator: Jeri finally gathered the courage to tell Takato the truth about her and Henry. Too bad he already knew. He blew up at her, leaving her wallowing in depression. To try to cheer her up, Bakemon went into his own flawed past and revealed that he was the Myotismon from the series. Of course, this just made things worse. Fortunately, a Devimon acting on Zhuqiaomon's orders took Jeri to see the past, where she saw the events in the Dark Ocean after Malomyotismon's defeat. It turns out Myotismon was just a pawn in the battle between the three Dark Rulers, Dragomon, Daemon and Milleniumon. Jeri watched as Kari helped a reformed Myotismon win his freedom from Dragomon's ranks. Jeri was hit with a sense of déjà vu as she returned to the present to find Dragomon waiting for her. Fortunately, with help from Wargrowlmon and encouragement from Takato, she was able to gain the Crest Card of Love and force Dragomon into retreat.

THEME

"Double Disaster"

(Infiltrate Alice's plans. Golemon with Ultimate powers!)

(Ext Digital World. Calumon is wandering.)

Calumon: Sing tra-la-la-la, tra-la-la-la, tra-la all day long. Tra-la-la-la, tra-la-la-la is my happy song

(Calumon comes across a cave with a strange light radiating from it)

Calumon: Pretty

(Calumon enters the cave. On the wall of the cave are images of four different types of Digivices, the original Digivice, the D-3, an unidentified Digivice with a slot in the top, and the D-Power. The thin outline of a D-Tector can be seen beside the fully detailed digivices. Below each digivice is the accompanying item, with the nine Crests below the Digivice, the eight Digieggs below the D-3, six coloured daggers below the unknown digivice and nine cards below the D-Power. Of the nine cards, three are coloured the respective colours of the Crest Cards we've seen so far. The others are grey. Below all the other marks on the wall are a Yin-Yang, the mark on Calumon's head, and the Hazard symbol)

(Something slowly comes up behind Calumon)

Calumon: Pretty pictures, but what do they mean?

(The figure slinks closer until…)

[Calumon: Where are you going? I promise we'll be right back.]

COMMERCIALS

[Terriermon: Momentai, we're back.]

(Ext Park. The Tamers have gathered. Rika is absent.)

Kazu: What's the big hold up?

Ryo: We have to wait for Rika. She went to the hospital last night, said she was feeling strange.

Kazu: So? Rika's always been strange!

Rika: (OS) Is this what you do when I'm not here, discuss me in insulting terms?

Takato: Oh, hey Rika. Sorry about Kazu, he's been like this for a while.

Kazu: Don't worry, Rika. Whatever's wrong with you we'll help you get through it. After all, what kind of friends would we be if we didn't?

Rika: Sorry to disappoint you, Kazu, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with me.

Gomamon: That's the spirit; never give up.

(Rika turns to Gomamon)

Rika: I think I preferred it when you could only make those cutesy-noises.

(Kazu looks closely at Rika)

Kazu: Say, Rika, what's that golden chain around your neck?

Rika: It's none of your business, Kazu.

Terriermon: A golden chain?

(Terriermon runs up to Rika and grabs her shirt collar)

Terriermon: Who are you and what have you done with Rika Nonaka?

(Rika pulls Terriermon off by the ears and hurls him at Kazu)

Terriermon: (dazed) Nope, that's Rika after all.

Jeri: What is it, Rika? You can tell your friends.

(Rika reluctantly pulls the front of the Spirit Amulet out)

Rika: It's a spirit amulet. My grandmother got it in China and sent it to me. It's supposed to bring spiritual protection.

Ryo: I think it suits you. It kind of reminds me of Renamon.

Kazu (coughing) whipped.

Ashley: Excuse me, but I don't think we're here to discuss Rika's new jewellery.

(Rika shoots Ashley a death-glare)

Ashley: I mean we've got so much to do, Crest Cards to discover, a dead girl to rekill…

Kenta: Don't get too far ahead of yourself, Ashley. After all, we still need to determine if Alice is really responsible for this.

Adam (aside to Ryo): Is it always like this?

Ryo: No, sometimes Rika's in a bad mood.

(Back to the main discussion)

Jeri: I say we track down the two remaining Dark Controllers.

Rika: Dark Controllers?

Jeri: Sure, we defeated Daemon already, but Dragomon and Milleniumon are still out there.

Takato: Jeri, what are you talking about?

Jeri: The only three truly dark Digimon. Daemon, Dragomon and Milleniumon.

(Ryo winces slightly)

Monodramon: What's wrong, Ryo?

Ryo: I'm not going there just yet.

Henry: First thing's first, has anyone seen Calumon today?

Suzie: I think he went to the Digital World under Zhuqiaomon's protection.

Impmon: Well, dat's reassurin'. Birdbrain's takin' care of Calumon. Has everyone forgotten what happened the LAST time dat happened?

Lopmon: Do not speak of Lord Zhuqiaomon like that in my presence. Petit Twister!

Impmon: You want summa dis, Bunnybitch? Badda-boom!

Ryo: (aside, to Adam) Now it's a normal meeting.

Takato: Okay, now the first issue today, do we continue to call ourselves Tamers, or do we call ourselves what we know we are, Digidestined?

Kazu: What's it matter what we call ourselves, Chumley? It's not like you're making another flag, is it?

Takato: Of course not. Now, onto more important matters. Ryo, please explain to everyone where you were while we were fighting Shadowdevimon and Megidramon.

Ryo: Well, it all started while I was watching Digimon: The Movie…

(Cut to the Digital World with Calumon in the cave. Calumon is facing a Digimon which looks like a grey version of himself with black ear-tips and a blue symbol on his head.)

Calumon: Who are you?

???: I am a part of you, or I once was.

Calumon: What do you mean?

???: I am Culamon, the darkness that the Sovereigns removed from you when they planted the Catalyst.

Calumon: Then why are we in here?

Culamon: Because they've planted the Catalyst in me now. I need to transfer half of its power to you.

Calumon: But why did they need to hide it again?

Culamon: There have been stories told that the Chaos has been rising once again. That Digiconqueror bitch, she wants to get the Catalyst and summon the Chaos to her. The stupid girl thinks she can control it. The last act of the Sovereigns was to transfer the Catalyst to me. Her army deleted them when they refused to hand her the Catalyst.

Calumon: And why do you need me here again?

Culamon: Because in one Digimon the Catalyst can be unstable. You know this from the time you were kidnapped by Makuramon.

Calumon: Why are those pictures on the wall?

Culamon: Ah, I was wondering when you would bring that up. Welcome to the Cave of Destiny. It tells the tales of the Digidestined throughout the generations. The first Digidestined needed no items; their hearts were their digivices. Tragically, they had to sacrifice themselves to defeat Apocalymon. That's why their accessories are not shown on the wall. Then there was the original Digivice. The items below it are the Crests. They were given up in order to seal a rift between the real and Digital worlds. The next item was the D-3, which appeared after the arrival of the Digimon Emperor. Below it are the Armour Digieggs, which were released in order for all forms of the Digimon to be able to help in the battle with Malomyotismon. The next one is the D-Stroyer, from a dark period in the Digital World. One of the Digidestined was corrupted by the cumulative power of all the darkness he had ever encountered. The button on the D-Stroyer would fire a beam of energy at a Digimon, which, if it had charged long enough and the Destined Digimon was at the same level or greater, would destroy all darkness in it. The blades below went into the slot in the top of the D-Stroyers and became D-Blades. The D-Blades were lost with the martyrdom of one of the Digidestined and the surrender of destiny to save the one who had become corrupted. The next item, of course, you are familiar with.

Calumon (looking at the D-Power on the wall): That looks like Jeri's digivice.

Culamon: Indeed, that is the D-Power digivice and the items below it are the Crest Cards. The digivice forming on the end is from an adventure which is still yet to come. Now, look into my eyes and I will transfer the power.

(Calumon and Culamon lock eyes and a yellow beam forms between the marks on their heads.)

Calumon: What are the symbols?

Culamon: When you have half of the Catalyst, one of these marks will appear over Digimon which are ready to Digivolve. The Hazard over viral Digimon, the Trinity over data Digimon, and the Tao over Vaccine Digimon. Now, we need to train.

Calumon: For what?

Culamon: The Ultimate Power.

Calumon: (dancing around) Ultimate power, ultimate power, ultimate power!

Culamon (quietly, annoyed): We've got a lot of work to do.

(Cut back to the park. The Tamer Meeting has apparently ended and Kazu and Kenta are there alone with their Digimon.)

Kazu: So, why did I need to stay around?

(Kenta pulls out a piece of paper)

Kazu: What, you got more of Henry's work?

Kenta: No, I've got the coordinates of Alice's base.

Kazu: All right, so it's into the portal. C'mon, guys, we can't go without you.

Guardromon: I am behind you all the way.

Gomamon: Like we'd let you have all the fun anyways.

Kazu: All right, let's go for it!

(The four of them step into the Portal)

Kazu: Okay, where to?

Kenta: Try to slash the co-ordinates through your D-Power.

(Kenta slashes the coordinates through his slot, then hands the coordinates to Kazu. They fall onto the location.)

Kazu: Uh, Kenta, there's supposed to be a massive base here, right?

Kenta: Yeah…

(Shot pans out to reveal they're in a vast flat desert)

Kazu: Then why is there absolutely NOTHING as far as the eye can see?

Kenta: Uh…

Kazu: Please tell me you didn't get the co-ordinates backwards…

Kenta: No, it should be here.

Kazu: Well, this is perfect. We're gonna die in the middle of nowhere in the Digital world because of misinformation.

Kenta: I don't get it, Bakemon gave me these coordinates.

Kazu: And you trusted him? Perfect, we've just been screwed over by Myotismon. I'll bet he thought for about three seconds before betraying us. And that's a liberal estimate.

Kenta: It should be right where you're standing.

Kazu: Well it's NOT!

(Kazu stomps his foot, which sinks into the ground.)

Kazu: An underground base?

Kenta: Well, it makes sense. The first Conqueror commanded from the air, the second commanded from the sea, now the third commands from the ground.

Kazu: Less thought, more violence.

(The four gather on the spot)

Kazu: One last thing.

Kenta: You name it.

Kazu (sheepish): Could you never tell Jeri what I said about Bakemon?

(Kenta laughs slightly and nods)

Kazu: Going down.

(Kazu stomps his left foot while Kenta stomps his right. The entire group falls through. They land in a vast dark hall.)

Gomamon: If this place was a little more cheerful, it could be a mass grave.

Kenta: Keep it down, this is the base of a mad girl/evil spirit.

Kazu: Right, an evil spirit. No offence, Kenta, but you've gotta start using that brain for something other than devising new ways to lose at the Digimon Card Game.

Kenta: But Ryo told us…

(A loud crashing noise is heard off in the distance)

Kazu: Finish that later. Right now, I think we've got trouble.

(Kenta pulls out his D-Power)

Kenta: Long Range Scan! Here we go. Golemon. A Mega-level Rock-man Digimon. Attacks are Boulder Toss, Megaton Pound, and Jagged Slashing.

Kazu: What? That thing's on the fritz. Golemon is a Champion-level and his attacks are…

Voice: Boulder Toss!

(Kazu and Kenta duck as a large boulder flies over their heads)

Kenta: Seems real enough to me.

Gomamon: Uh, Kenta, I don't think it matters what level he's at. What's important is that I can fight him!

Kenta: Right. Digimodify! Digivolution activate!

DIGIVOLUTION

Gomamon: Gomamon, digivolve to…

(Gomamon digivolves to Ikkakumon.)

Ikkakumon: Ikkakumon!

(A massive Golemon enters the hall)

Kazu: Okay, let's do this!

[Guilmon: Time for a snack, but we'll be right back.]

[(Spinning Digimon logo)

Commercial narrator: Next time on Digimon

(We see a shot of Ashley walking in the park.)

C. Narrator: A walk in the park…

(We see Yamaki approaching Ashley in the park)

C. Narrator: Turns into a walking nightmare.

(Yamaki grabs Ashley by the arm)

C. Narrator: But is all as it seems?

(A flame shoots from Yamaki's lighter)

Ashley: Who are you?

C. Narrator: Don't miss the next all-new episode of Digimon.]

[Kenta: We're back.

Kazu: Thank you, Captain Obvious.]

(The massive Golemon advances on Kazu and Kenta)

Kazu: You ready for this, Kenta?

Kenta: Do I really have a choice?

Golemon: Megaton Pound!

(Kazu is sent flying into a wall)

Kenta: Kazu, get up!

Kazu: You get the number on that bus?

Kenta: We have to concentrate on this fight.

Kazu: Right. Guardromon, hit him with everything you've got!

Guardromon: Guardian Barrage!

(When the smoke clears from the attack, no damage seems to have been done.)

Kazu: Not even a scratch!

Golemon: Scratch?

(The rocks that make up Golemon's fist reform into a rock dagger.)

Golemon: My pleasure. Jagged Slashing!

(Guardromon is barely able to get out of the way of the attack)

Kenta: That was too close. We need some more power here.

Kazu: Good thinking, Kenta.

Kazu/Kenta: Digimodify! Power activate!

Golemon: Megaton Pound!

(Guardromon is hit hard)

Kenta: Just in case you're wondering, that's bad.

Kazu: Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Ikkakumon: Harpoon Torpedo!

(Ikkakumon launches the missile from his horn.)

Guardromon: Protection Grenade!

(Both projectiles impact at the same time.)

Kazu: That should do it.

(Golemon is still in perfect condition)

Kenta: We just can't damage him. Kazu, what's his attribute?

Kazu: He's a Virus, but why does that ma… oh.

(Kazu pulls out a card)

Kazu: Digimodify! Vaccination activate!

(Guardromon glows with a white light)

Kazu: Try it now.

Guardromon: Protection Grenade!

Ikkakumon: Harpoon Torpedo!

(The attacks do more damage, but not nearly enough)

Golemon: This ends. Jagged Slashing!

(Golemon slashes towards Ikkakumon who uses his horn to counter it)

Ikkakumon: Parry, dodge, spin, hah, thrust.

(Ikkakumon head butts Golemon. The horn on his head goes through Golemon's chest.)

Kenta (realising): If you do this right we can get some serious damage in on him.

Ikkakumon: Gotcha. Harpoon Torpedo!

(The horn fires off his head with Golemon still stuck to it)

Guardromon: Guardian Barrage!

(The grenades are fired at the horn/missile still embedded in Golemon's chest. There's a massive explosion around Golemon.)

Kazu: Cards? We don't need no stinking cards! What's the D-Power got to say?

Kenta: (checking readoff) It's got him down to Ultimate, but still the same attacks.

Kazu: It's possible that we blew off some kind of level-raising power-up from Alice with that last attack, and since we've seen him use both of the supposedly wrong attacks we know they're real. What do you think?

Kenta: I think that he's some special work of Alice's. She digivolved his level, but his form stayed the same. That's why he has the unfamiliar attacks. To say nothing of his strength…

Golemon: Megaton Pound!

(Golemon punches towards Kazu)

Kenta: Kazu, get down!

(Kazu ducks just in time for the attack to miss)

Kazu: Thanks, man. I owe you one.

Golemon: Boulder Toss!

(The boulder flies towards Kazu and Kenta)

Kazu: Okay, you remember what Takato and Henry told us about Digital World physics?

Kenta: Not really.

Kazu: It's like the Matrix. If you believe strongly enough in something you can make it happen.

(Kazu and Kenta stand perfectly still as the boulder comes bearing down on them. The boulder crashes down on them and they're barely damaged)

Kenta: All right! We're invinci…

(Kazu pushes Kenta out of the way and gets hit by an unannounced punch. Kazu flies into a wall)

Kenta: Why'd you do that?

Kazu: I owed you one. When I was too full of myself to think, I've always been able to count on you.

Kenta: Thanks man. You're a great friend.

Kazu: I'd better be considering…

Kenta: Right.

(Cut to Calumon and Culamon in the Cave of Destiny)

Culamon: Okay, now focus your energy. You can't pull off the attack without total focu… ah, crud.

(Culamon points at the Crest of Friendship on the wall)

Culamon: Change of plans. Focus on that, I'll focus on this one.

(Two more of the cards under the D-Power are coloured in. They're light blue and purple.)

(Cut back to Kazu and Kenta who are now holding Crest Cards. Close ups reveal Kazu's is Friendship and Kenta's is Reliability.)

Kazu: You ready dude?

Kenta: You bet.

Kazu/Kenta: Digimodify! Crest Digivolution activate!

CREST DIGIVOLUTION

Guardromon: Guardromon, digivolve to…

Ikkakumon: Ikkakumon, digivolve to…

(The two digivolve to their Ultimate forms)

Andromon: Andromon!

Zudomon: Zudomon!

Kenta: It's a good thing this place is big.

Zudomon: Vulcan's Hammer!

(Golemon is knocked backwards)

Andromon: Lightning Blade… Fire!

(Golemon is sliced in half. The top half disintegrates into loose data, the bottom half becomes a Digiegg)

Kazu: Okay, what just happened?

Kenta: I don't know.

Kazu: That's probably just the first trap. Any others would be more powerful. I think we should just get out of here.

(Kazu and Kenta head up a ladder beside the entrance tube. Their Digimon have returned to their normal stages. We cut to the egg, which glows slightly.)

[Takato: Digimodify! Break activate!

Computerized Voice: Digimon will be right back.]

COMMERCIALS

[Henry: This is no game of chance, Digimon is back]

(Takato and Ashley are sitting around and talking.)

Takato: …And then that weird kid revealed his true identity as the Monkey Deva, grabbed Calumon, and disappeared into the portal.

Ashley: I can't believe I missed all this.

Takato: Yeah, you also missed Impmon's power-mad rampage in his Mega form, Megidramon's first appearance, the first Biomerge, Megagargomon almost taking out Zhuqiaomon, Sakuyamon first forming to stop the Chaos…well, let's just say you missed a lot.

Ashley: I figured that out myself. But think about this, if I hadn't designed Impmon and the D-Power, none of this would have happened. So, I guess I'm a part of it after all.

Takato: I never thought of it that way.

Ashley: Get used to changing your thinking, Takato. This isn't over by a long shot, and I have a feeling things are going to be changing a lot.

(A shadowy cloaked figure is seen at the window)

???: You have no idea how right you are, Chosen.

(The figure walks away from the window and vanishes in the distance)

???: No idea at all.

Narrator: Whoa, who's that guy? And what does Alice have up her sleeves now? Maybe we'll get some clues on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters.

Well, that's another chapter finished. I'm just zooming along on this one. I already have the final chapter in production, so I know where I want to end this.

For those of you who are wondering, Culamon's Japanese name is Calamon. Expect to see him, a lot, later on.

The attacks of the Mega/Ultimate level Golemon are my own creations.

Yes, I discovered a loophole in Digimon, which made the Tamers more-or-less invincible in the Digital World. Seriously, if just thinking allows you to breathe underwater, or combine with another being, who's to say where the limits are? This is why I'm keeping the story in the Real World for the most part.

And this is how I get the Crest Cards out of the way and move on with the plot. There will be at least one more episode where multiple cards are received.

Golemon's size and level will be explained in due time. For now I'll leave it as a mystery.

Do I really need to tell you that the mysterious figure is another of my mysteries? Good.

Next Episode: "Illusions of Grandeur" (Magimon's Black Illusions! Satanimon's Perfection takes form!)
