Digimon TZ: The Beginning of The End
Episode 6: Sincerely Yours, Sukamon & Chuumon

by: Gennai's Apprentice

Kari opened her eyes. She was sitting inside her and T.K.'s apartment. T.K. was just sitting next to her, smiling as if the everything was going their way. She looked into his eyes, and saw into him, saw his kindness, his tenderness, his love. He placed his hand or her lap and slowly closed the distance. She placed her arm around his neck and also closed the distance between them. She closed her eyes again, waiting for the impending kiss, but...

It never happened.

She opened her eyes once more and watched both him and their apartment retreating into the deep blackness. She struggled to get up, but found that she could not. Kari tried to call out to him, yell, shout, scream, but nothing worked. There was only an eerie silence.

Then she woke up.

Kari opened her eyes. She was lying in a cage of sorts. Almost like a bird cage, it was plated with what looked like gold. Looking past the cage, she stared at the ceiling. Pictographs, etched with crimson colored paint, danced against the drab gray. In the center was a star with six points, surrounded by twelve golder rays, which were themselves studded with shining gems in the low light. The blackness of the star drew her gaze deeper and deeper...

"A pretty cage for a pretty bird, no?" a dark voice said. Brought out of her stupor, she reflexively sat up in the cage. Since it was small, she tucked her legs in and positioned herself in the direction of the voice. There, sitting on a massive throne of scarlet flames, was an oversized, but lanky, Digimon. It stood up revealing its true height. Almost reaching three stories high, the black dragon towered over her with arms that reached all the way to the floor. It had a humanoid form, but was hunched over as well. She had heard of these Digimon from the other Digidestined, a DeviDramon. <This must be the reincarnated form of Devimon!> she thought, her panic rising. Immediately, she began to use calming techniques to control her breathing and appear calm before her captor. This embodiment of evil.

Unfortunately, the large Digimon appeared to have read her mind. <I am who you believe me to be...>, he telepathically told her. He approached the cage and picked it up by the small ring at the top. Kari, startled by the movement and by the close proximity to him, grabbed onto the bars of the cage, backing up as far as possible from the wretched creature. Closing her eyes, she became fearful of what would happen next.

Three seconds passed before she felt a jolt and the swinging begin to abate. No longer feeling the hot, sulfurous breath of the demon on her, she slowly opened her eyes.

The evil being grinned, baring his gleaming fangs, "Soon, my revenge will be complete! The bearer of Hope will save his beloved bearer of Light. And then with a swift and painful blow, I will wipe him out of existance! If Piedmon were here, he would laugh at the theatrical elements of such a plan."

"No." Kari shook her head. She was bait for his trap. "No." Manipulating the strongest force in the universe to exact his vengeance. And she was going to be his tool. Like a cheap movie

We're going to STOP you, and wipe your EVIL out of existance, YOU FIEND!"

He smiled and turned toward the door of throne room, "Enough talk, I would like to see some entertainment! DemiDevimon, bring out my new slaves of Darkness."

DemiDevimon, a Digimon she knew quite well, but didn't notice that he was in the room, moved towards the door and gave it a hard knock with his feet. the door opened to reveal Patamon and Gatomon, each wearing something that looked like the Dark Rings, but instead of being a single ring, they looked more like Spirals.

"Now," his booming voice reverberated inside the cage, "we shall have some fun!" The evil Digimon pulled out two dark Digivices between its fingers and brought them close to the cage so Kari could see them clearly.

"Patamon! Gatomon! Answer me!!" she called out to the two Digimon that were once her friends. "What have you done with them, DeviDramon?" Kari asked harshly.

"My, my, just watch." The two Digivices began to glow with a dark aura around them. Then suddenly, each Digivice sent out a dark beam of light, to Patamon and Gatomon. They too began to glow with a dark aura, causing them to Digivolve... To Devimon and LadyDevimon.

DeviDramon watched Kari struggle to restrain her growing hatred and disgust. He began to laugh with evil merriment as he witnessed her losing her fight to remain in control.

"What. Did. You. Do. To. Them..." she said slowly with murderous intent in her eyes.

In response, he merely walked over to Devimon, giving his former form a good once-over. "Looks much better than that silly Angemon, wouldn't you say? Much more potential than that sorry excuse for a Digimon." He then moved over to LadyDevimon.

"Don't touch her YOU DEMON!" Kari shouted through the bars.

DeviDramon ignored her, standing behind the demon lady and attatched one of the dark Digivices to her waist. "Such dark beauty... I shall enjoy watching her prove herself in battle." He then attached the other Digivice to Devimon's waist. "Devimon, LadyDevimon, you're mission is to guard the prisoner until my return."

With that, he neither walked nor floated out of the throne room, instead the demon master simply disappeared. Kari felt cold and dark penetrating into her as she watched the deep red eyes of the Digimon she once called friends.

"So, T.K., where'd you find that Digiegg," Mimi asked the young man as once more they trekked the wide expanse of the Digital World.

"I found it at Primary Village," he replied looking down at the egg, "I was watching the stars, thinking of Kari, when a light flashed, when I looked, the egg was there."

Mimi looked at T.K.. He had grown so much since he last saw him several years ago. On her list of cheerful people, aside from her, him and Kari were the most happy people she had ever known. Even when they were not together, they always knew how to have a good time and enjoy life, but now...

"Hey Mimi," T.K. began, "Do you still remember when Angemon sacrificed himself to defeat Devimon?"

"Of course, T.K.," Mimi replied placing her arm around the younger man trying to comfort him. "Of all the Digimon, he was always the most noblest."

T.K. just nodded his head once and continued walking in silence.

"OGREMON!!! That's not where that GOES!" Jenji yelled at the gigantic muscle-bound Digimon.

Ogremon sighed in defeat and placed the part down on a nearby console. A small rumble followed as Ogremon fell back and landed on his rump. "Sorry," he said, but his eyes said so much more.

The two were standing inside the main control room of Andromon's factory. Before them was a large panel with blinking lights and flashing buttons. Ever since the attack by Leomon and his Dark Ring forces, the whole place had been acting up. Jenji and Izzy repaired what they could before the technological extraordinaire had to leave with the others for Infinity Mountain. They all knew that it was a futile attempt, but they had to do something. The DeviDramon they faced was no ordinary DeviDramon, but one who was enhanced exponentially by the powers of darkness he harnessed from the dark rings.

Jenji also sat down on the hard metallic floor, albeit more gently than his compatriot. He was still wearing his white robe with matching brown cloth belt, but some stubble began to surface on his once clean shaven face.

"I'm sorry too," Jenji said, "I'm just feeling a lot of stress from everything that's going on."

"What am I doing here anyways, helping the good guys out. I'm supposed to be a big bad bully taking baby Digimon's lunch money."

Jenji got up again and went over to a nearby table where a tray had been placed. On it was a tea kettle and some teacups. "You're doing this because it's the right thing to do," he said as he picked up the tray and brought it over to where Ogremon was sitting, "You know just as well as I do that if DeviDramon takes over File Island, not even you will get away from his tyranny." He sat down again and began to pour some tea into the cups. He gave one to Ogremon. The ogre took it from Jenji and held it as gently as he could between his forefinger and thumb, making sure his pinky was sticking out. Jenji looked at him oddly.

"Y'know Ogremon, you don't have to drink it that way..." he said with a smirk on his face.

"I know, but that's how Mimi taught me how to do it. She said it was the proper way to drink tea."

Jenji shrugged his arms and continued drinking his tea. "You're not as bad as you think," Jenji said in the silence, "You may be a virus Digimon, but that doesn't immediately designate what kind of Digimon you become."

Ogremon looked curiously at the smaller being with curiosity.

"I've heard the stories of your accomplishments when the Digidestined were last here. You fought against Piedmon's army of Vilemon, clearing the path for Mimi and Lilymon to reach the others in time for a decisive victory over evil..."

"Lies! They're all lies! I was part of Piedmon's army!..."

"Oh? Were you now?"

"Yes... Well, not really... Devimon was working under Piedmon, and I worked for him, so that means I worked for the big man himself at one time!!"

"Why do you keep up the charade, Ogremon?"

"I dunno," the green giant said shrugging his arms, "I gots an image to keep up. After all this is done, I don't want other Digimon t'think I'm weak or somethin'. Next thing y'know, Numemon are pushing me over! Y'know what I'm saying, right?"

Jenji smiled at his green friend. He was certainly an odd one, but he definitely had a heart of gold. The Guardian stood and looked at his chronometer, "My meditation time is upon me." He patted the giant on the shoulder, "Remember now, do not bother me unless it is incredibly important, such as an attack."

He watched as a frown creased the lines of the Digimon's face. He knew that Ogremon got lonely by himself. Ever since Leomon was taken captive by DeviDramon, Ogremon acted like half his soul was torn away. It's not like he wanted to get away, but he had things to accomplish during this time. "Hey, when I'm done, maybe we'll play some Mahjong or something. I'm sure there's a set around here somewhere."

Ogremon immediately brightened up and saluted, "Yessir!"

Replacing the tray on the table, Jenji quickly left the control room. Ogremon sat there silently, uncertain on what to do. Normally when Jenji went into meditation, there was some other job to do, but this time most of the things that required his specialty, physical strength, had been finished. Machines had been righted, floors had been swept clean, junk had been thrown into the waste transport for Trash Mountain... There was really nothing left for him to do. Maybe he would go and find the set and practice. Before DeviDramon, Ogremon had challenged Leomon to many such matches, only to find himself beaten time and time again. "This time, I'll win," he muttered to himself.

Just then, the proximity alarms went off, signalling that Dark Ring Digimon were near. Immediately, he went over to the main screen and tried pushing some buttons.

After setting off additional alarms and turning them off again, he finally hit the button that showed what the sensors had picked up on the main screen. Leomon, and a bunch of other Rookie and Champion level Digimon were headed, not in his direction, but in the direction of Trash Mountain. He knew that the Digidestined were also on their way to Trash Mountain and had probably arrived by now. He wanted to warn his friends, but couldn't since he didn't know how to use the holo equipment. "Looks like I'll hafta do things the ol' fashioned way," he said to himself, hoping that he could get to Trash Mountain soon enough to warn the others.

T.K. was the last to get off of Garudamon before she de-Digivolved back to Biyomon. They had finally arrived at Trash Mountain after a short flight courtesy of Biyomon's Ultimate form. They each looked at each other, not exactly sure of what to do. The stench coming from the place was almost overwhelming.

From the outside, the place itself was quite intimidating. It was almost like a self contained kingdom of sorts. A large moat of greenish, bubbling fluid surrounded the mountain. Then there was the mountain itself. Well, it wasn't exactly a mountain, more like a wall of trash that surrounded the perimeter of the island. Mimi was the first one to approach the bridge that led across the moat and into the only opening in the wall.

"Hey Mimi, what are you doing? I thought you'd be the last place to go in there," Tai said half joking, half serious.

"Yeah, well I thought I saw some eyes peering out at us from inside. They looked familiar somehow."

Matt looked at Mimi oddly, "How in the world can you recognize someone by their eyes?!"

She simply shrugged her shoulders. Everyone else looked to Tai, who shrugged his shoulders as well and went to Mimi's side. Tai looked deeper into the opening, but could see nothing but trash. He moved closer and closer cautiously until a voice from inside stopped him.

"Who are you? What do you want from us?"

"My name is Taichi Kamiya, and behind me," he motioned to Mimi, "is Mimi Izumi."

Peeking out of the opening was what appeared to be a yellow chunk of Digimon droppings and sitting on what could be considred its shoulder, was a small pink rodent with big eyes and buck teeth.

"Mimi?" the two asked at the same time.

"Sukamon? Chuumon?" Mimi asked in reply.

"We asked you first!" the pink mouse replied nervously

Mimi approached closer to the two, passing Tai, "Yes, it's me! Mimi!"

"Mimi!!" the two replied in turn, Sukamon hopping across the bridge. Chuumon leapt off of Sukamon and jumped to Mimi who caught him and gave him a big hug.

"Oh Chuumon, it's so good to see you alive," the brown haired woman said. She then turned to Sukamon and shook his outstretched arm, "And you're alive too, Sukamon!"

"Yep," the little pink mouse replied, "after you guys beat the Dark Masters, me and Sukamon here were reborn in Primary Village."

"Yup," the yellow Digiturd continued, "haven't been apart since... Well except for right now."

Mimi replaced Chuumon on Sukamon's shoulder, "Well it's just so good to see you two together again, but we're looking for something here."

"Like what?" Chuumon asked.

"Mekanorimon," Tai replied, coming alongside the princess of fashion, "We heard that there were some working Mekanorimon here. We need them to fight Gennai and DeviDramon."

Several other heads popped out of the gateway, some were the eyestalks of Numemon while others were just like the Sukamon before him. "We don't help people like you!" one said.

"Get out of here, we don't need the likes of you here!" another said.

"Yeah, you'll just cause trouble for us!" a third Digimon replied in turn.

"What's up with you guys? We just want some of your junk, that's all," Tai said, while showing signs of anger in his voice.

"I'm sorry," the friendly Sukamon said, "Trash Mountain is neutral. Everyone who's against DeviDramon and his army are sure to be deleted. We just don't want to cause trouble."

TK, who with all the other Digidestined, was watching the conversation between Trash Mountain's inhabitants and his brother-in-law. He also noticed the Numemon who were peeking out from the gateway and got an idea.

"But we're the only ones who have a chance at beating them!" Tai continued, "If you help us, your days of living in fear might just be over if win against this DeviDramon guy."

"Yeah, well you don't know DeviDramon, he's really powerful..." The numemon who was talking suddenly stopped, noticed the other young man who had stepped on the footbridge.

"Numemon! Do you remember Queen Kari? The one who freed you from the evil reign of WaruMonzeamon?"

Several of the Numemon scooted their way onto the bridge the see the one who had spoken of their powerful queen who had freed them many many years ago from bondage. They had even sacrificed their lives against the mighty MachineDramon so that she would be safe.

TK moved even closer to the gateway, passing both Mimi and Tai. He was only a couple feet from the entrance. "Queen Kari is in danger! She is held prisoner by the one called DeviDramon! Will you help us... Will you help ME save her?"

More and more Numemon came out and surrounded the one who spoke of Queen Kari. "Yes, what can we do?" one asked the young man.

"We want to help Queen Kari," piped up another.

The Numemon began to chant Kari's name over and over. The Sukamon watched the Numemon chant. They too had heard of the wonderful stories and legends of the great Queen Kari and her kindness. TK gave Tai the thumbs up.

"Well, one way you can help us is by supplying us with what we need. Do you have Mekanorimon here?" Tai asked authoritatively.

"You must go and see our king, King Sukamon!" one of the Numemon said, motioning with his eyestalks to the inside of Trash Mountain.

Tai nodded his head and turned to the others who were still standing on the other end of the footbridge. "Izzy, you're coming with us. Joe, Sora, and Matt, stay out here and watch out for trouble."

Izzy immediately made his way to Tai's direction while the other three nodded their heads in agreement. The Numemon on the bridge immediately went back into the Mountain, making room for the four Digidestined and Sukamon and Chuumon.

The deeper they went, the more the smell threatened overwhelm their senses, but the four adults continued. They had a mission to complete and a friend to save. In minutes, they were before a large Sukamon sitting on a platform with a crown sitting on its head lopsidedly. Mimi was the first to bow low in respect. The other three immediately followed suit. When they got back up, they noticed a big smile on King Sukamon's lips, not that it was a pretty sight or anything, but a smile was a smile.

"Who are you that you come into my kingdom uninvited?" the large Digiturd boomed.

Tai looked to Izzy and nodded to him. "We are the ones known to many as the Digidestined."

"Ah, the Chosen ones of the Prophecy... I've heard many tales and legends of your adventures." King Sukamon's smile vanished, "But we have never been involved in the Great Wars. Our Mountain has always been neutral and will remain that way. We do not want any trouble."

"I beg your pardon," Izzy said, giving another short bow, "but the forces of Darkness have no respect for who is neutral or not. If DeviDramon's army will completely control the whole island, no one is safe, not even you."

King Sukamon scowled at Izzy's remarks. He knew the human was right. No evil Digimon had ever come this close to total victory before. Someone had always intervened, preventing any need for he and his kingdom to act. Besides the point that Trash Mountain was just that... trash. He knew that despite the large numbers of Digimon residing here, they were in great danger of being the playthings of the more sinister Digimon. The only Digimon who lived here were weak, incapable of holding their own in a real fight. The human was right, and now he had to face the truth. He risked the destruction of his kingdom, but hopefully these humans could defeat DeviDramon and save the island... and their home.

The large Digimon emitted a long and deep resonanting sound from his rear, resembling the sound of the worst fart that TK had ever heard. He tried to stifle his laugh, but some of it got out. He straightened up, but noticed that none of the others had laughed. Instead, they seemed to be looking around in wonder. TK also looked around him. It seemed like there were hundreds of Digimon poking their heads out of what seemed to be windows in the walls of trash all around him.

The king began to fart again, but this time in three short bursts. Slowly the stench in the air dissapated. Izzy looked curiously to the king.

"The smell is one of our defensive measures. The fact that you came this far without fainting says volumes to us. You humans have great determination." He then looked all around him, addressing his subjects as well as the Digidestined, "I have made my decision. We will help the humans, and we will END DeviDramon's REIGN! Today, we will join the fight AGAINST evil!"

Cheers erupted all around. It was almost deafening. Tai had never felt this proud in his life. Up until a couple minutes ago, he knew that he had to win against DeviDramon and Gennai, but he truthfully didn't feel it deep inside. Now new hope was beginning to surge through him, giving him the inner strength to continue and the resolve to see this through to the end. He looked around and saw that Izzy, Mimi, and TK felt the same way.

~

About half an hour later, the Mekanorimon that they had come there for were brought outside the Mountain. There were seven in all, each one a different color. Mimi approached the pink one. "This one's mine," she said resolutely. The mechanoid Digimon "crouched" by telescoping its legs allowing the cockpit to lower allowing Mimi to climb in. She had learned her lesson on dresses since the last time she came to the Digworld. Stepping on top of one of the arms, she swung her other leg into the cockpit like a true cowgirl.

"Hey Mimi! You're gonna need help using that thing," Chuumon said as Sukamon approached the pink mech. "I'm coming with you!" The little pink mouse nimbly hopped up the mech and landed on her lap just as the Mekanorimon began to rise again.

Izzy ran up to the Mekanorimon just as it reached its full height. "You don't have to do this!"

"I said I was going to help you guys fight! Don't worry, I've got Chuumon with me!" she shouted as the glass cockpit shield closed over her. Izzy looked over to Tai with a pained look on his face. Tai simply shrugged.

Joe had also hopped into his mech and called out to Izzy as it rose to its full height, "Don't worry, she can take care of herself. Besides, what can go wrong?"

Mimi's mech suddenly shot up vertically into the air. Mimi's surprised scream could be heard over the commotion. "MIMI!" Izzy shouted as he ran to his mech. Several hundred feet up, the mech stopped. Izzy also stopped to look as he was having trouble getting inside due to his shorter stature. "What could go wrong? Everything can go wrong!"

TK's mech was sitting right next to Izzy's. He smiled inwardly, <He's actually starting to sound like Joe...>

~

"So this button switches it from going up to going straight, right?" Mimi was looking intently at the instrument panels, trying to figure it all out. When she didn't hear a reply she looked around her for her little pink friend. She found him plastered to the floor with a goofy looking grin on his face. "Chuumon? Are you alright?"

"Yeah... Sure..." Chuumon replied, his eyes swirling around in his sockets.

"Mimi! Mimi! Are you alright in there?!" The noise in the cockpit was
