Mercury Saga
The year is 2130. The Pecunia Conglomerate grows ever powerful and with the production of its newest weapon, the Mercury model Mech, it has become the most powerful nation in the world. The Mercuries are robotic Mech units, programmed with attack programs and defence programs. Being robotic, they are capable of evaluating situations and faster responses than human-piloted Mechs. However, with the construction of the Mechs comes the downfall of the UN Leader, Neil Kaplan. Opposing the Pecunia Conglomerate, Neil Kaplan is put under house arrest. This is the last straw, however, for the soldiers. Those soldiers supporting Neil Kaplan break off from the UN Organisation, forming the Kaplan Faction. Pecunia considers them rebels and orders for their execution, as it begins the first phase of its plans to take full control of the Earth.

Chapter 9: Yamaki's Secret Trick
Cody turned round and looked up, seeing huge transporter planes flying above them.
"We're being ambushed from above!" he exclaimed, as he saw more Mech units being parachuted down from the sky. 'Well, I'll deal with them,' he thought, as he crossed his arms. 'V-Laser!' An orange laser flew from his chest upwards and destroyed one of the Mech units.
One landed in front of him. He looked up and saw that it was silver in colour, with a visor that glowed a hideous purple. It glared down at him, as it straightened up and aimed its cannon down. It fired. He dived out of the way, as the laser smashed into the snowy ground, throwing up dirt and snow.
"Cody!" screamed Fumiko, as she turned round and saw him in trouble. She ran towards the advancing new Mech models. 'Dragon Wheel!' She leapt through the air, a wheel of blue fire flying at the silver opponents. A dragon's head appeared on the wheel of fire, as it smashed against the Mech, tearing it in half to reveal nothing more but circuitry.
"It's nothing more than a gigantic robot!" exclaimed Paul in surprise, as the damaged Mech crashed to the snowy ground. "What's happening?" he cried in surprise.
The two halves of the Mech were melting and merging together, the strange unit bubbling up and reforming its original shape. The newly repaired Mech turned round and aimed its cannon at a surprised DigiAnthrope. It then fired, a powerful laser flying from its cannon and straight towards Fumiko.
Cody rushed towards Fumiko and pushed her out of the way. Moments later, the laser smashed into the ground, tearing up earth and throwing him aside.
"This can't be happening!" exclaimed Kai in disbelief. He turned round sharply and rushed towards the Mercuries. With a loud roar, he leapt towards the nearest Mech. A laser smashed into his side and catapuled him through the air. He landed in the snow with a thud, every muscle in his body aching with pain. 'It can't end like this,' he thought. 'I won't let it end like this!'

The Lieutenant checked the monitors. Only one Mercury unit had been destroyed. This was good news.
"Those Rogues are unable to defeat the new Mercuries," he commented, as he checked the statistics. "All units are operating at maximum efficiency." He smiled.
The plane suddenly shuddered, throwing the Lieutenant against the control panel.
"Sir, one of the Rogues is targeting us," cried one of the pilots.
"Take evasive manoeuvres!" ordered the Lieutenant.

Takeru fired his cold Ice Blast up at the plane again. He missed. 'Damn!' he thought angrily. He could have hit it, if he had only been more accurate. A laser hit the end of his tail, making him hiss in pain. Angrily, he lashed out at the Mercury with his head, smashing into its body. 'What's going on?' he wondered, as his head went into the machine as if it were made of water.
Like an amoeba the Mercury started to engulf Takeru, covering the WereDigimon with its metallic body.
Lashing out at it with his tail didn't do anything. Takeru found himself being pulled into the unit mercilessly. Electricity flowed and a shock made every muscle in his scaly body convulse painfully. He knew he had to do anything in his power to keep himself alive. 'Ice Blast!' he suddenly realised. Inhaling sharply, he fired a powerful cold ray and writhed about violently.
The Mercury shattered into pieces and Takeru broke free, laughing victoriously.
"What the Heck?" he exclaimed in surprise, as he saw the shards of Mech defrosting and clumping together. He spotted the head, intact, and the laser cannon intact. The purple visor was flashing. With one flick of his tail, he smashed it and the bits of the Mercury went limp and melted away. "Go for the heads!" he called out to the others. "Destroy the head, you destroy the Mech!"
A wheel of fire flew through the air and smashed into the head of another Mercury, completely destroying it. Fumiko landed on the ground gracefully, turning round to see the Mercury melt away into a puddle of liquid metal and circuitry.
"That's one down," she said, with a graceful flick of her tails. Her ears twitched. She heard something. Leaping away, she narrowly missed being crushed underneath the foot of the Mercury unit. "Okay, big and ugly, let's take care of you."
The Mercury looked down and aimed its left arm at her. Its metallic hand suddenly burst apart, as several sharp edged tentacles like flexible swords, flew from its left arm at her.
Paul rushed towards her and pushed her aside. He cried out in pain.
"No!" cried Fumiko in disbelief. "Paul!" She watched in horror, as the metallic tentacles pierced his furry body. Anger welled up inside her. "Take this!" she screamed, as she flew through the air and became a wheel of fire that smashed into the Mercury and ripped it apart.
The WereLeomon slumped to the ground. 'Why aren't I bleeding?' he wondered, as he crashed to the ground. Finding it difficult to breathe, all he did was look up into the sky.
"Paul!" exclaimed a voice from his side. "Paul, don't leave us. Hang on in there!"
"No, this time I cannot, Kai," sighed Paul. "Carry on fighting against the UN, Kai. They must not be allowed to carry on with their tyranny." With that, he breathed in his last breath and like Digimon from the cartoon series, he began to break up into tiny bits of data that dispersed into the air.
Tears streamed down his furry cheeks, as Kai watched the data disperse into the air. This wasn't right. This just wasn't right. Kai was furious. The UN had gone too far this time. He stood up and then turned his lupine head to face the Mercuries. Growling angrily, he leapt through the air, not realising that he was digivolving at the same time. He flung a fist at the nearest Mercury, smashing into its head, the electricity rippling through the Mech before it burst apart.
Kai landed back on two feet and found that he was standing upright. He had become a WereGarurumon, the Ultimate level of his Digimon form.
"You guys are going down," he growled, as he looked at the Mercuries. He roared loudly, as he ran towards the nearest Mercury and leapt into the air.
It fired several times, missing the WereGarurumon. One Garuru Kick later, its head was kicked clean off its body to crash against the floor and shatter into millions of pieces.
"I will avenge your death, Paul," muttered Kai, as he looked at the rest of the Mercuries. There were plenty more of them, and he was willing to take them all down. "I won't rest until every last bit of the UN Organisation is gone!" A snarl spread across his lupine muzzle, as his entire face screwed up into one of pure rage and anger. "D-Power Activate! Blizzard!"
Fumiko covered her eyes just in time, as a huge snow storm swept across them. Huge chunks of hail flew down from the sky, smashing into everything.
"Kai! Stop it!" she screamed, as a hailstone hit her in the head painfully. "Stop it! You're hurting us!"
The rage within Kai was unstoppable however, as he, like the wind, blew across the snow-covered fields, destroying Mercury after Mercury Mech.
"I won't stop until every weapon in this world is destroyed!" roared Kai angrily, as he smashed his fist into the head of a Mercury.

"What's going on?" exclaimed the Lieutenant. The windshield of the plane suddenly shattered violently.
"We have to land!" shouted the pilot over the roar of the wind, as it blew into the plane. "The blizzard is too strong!" But he couldn't see. A hailstone hit him in the face and several more followed suit, scraping against his bare skin, drawing blood. "I can't see!" he screamed, as the plane plunged down from the sky.

Cody looked around him. 'This isn't right,' he thought, as he saw Kai raging against the Mercuries. 'Someone has to stop him, before he destroys everything.' He inhaled deeply, before exhaling again, a mist of white escaping his scaly muzzle. He knew full well that that person was him. Not having any second thoughts, he ran down the snowy slope towards Kai. Ignoring the pain, he digivolved into his Ultimate level- Paildramon.
"Kai!" he shouted out to his former friend. "Stop it!"
The WereGarurumon whirled round, his brown eyes full of rage. He was blind with anger. Lashing out at Cody, he attacked him.
"What do you think you're doing?" asked Cody, as he leapt out of the way. "Stop this! You're hurting your friends as well. Can't you see that?"
"I won't stop until every weapon in this world is destroyed, Sampler," growled Kai spitefully. "Even if it means sacrificing my humanity to do it." Growling like a feral dog, he lunged out at Cody.
Leaping out of the way, Cody decided it was best to attack. 'A Desperado Blaster should do the trick,' he realised, as he opened fire, several bolts of blue energy flying through the air like bullets.
Kai leapt over every single one skilfully. He swept his leg in an arc in front of him, and an arc of energy cut through the air towards Cody.

It hovered gracefully above the blue sphere, orbiting the Earth. It was huge. It was metallic and light grey. This was the newest military base to grace the UN Organisation, Space Fortress Valen. It was nothing like the International Space Station, which had been destroyed in World War Three by what was once the United States. It consisted not of a wheel but a disc, that spun round in order to create an artificial gravity to the station. It looked like a gigantic UFO.
"Soon, all four of us will be united again," sighed Dr. Yamaki, as she sat at a chair in a space suit, watching a monitor in front of her within the command centre. It was like any command centre that you can imagine, plain and boring, unlike the three that sat inside amongst UN soldiers.
Professor Shibumi sighed.
"I doubt whether that would happen soon, Sora," he commented. "Jyou is after all, working for Pecunia."
"And Pecunia is now the sole master of the UN," pointed out Sora. "Jyou will be..." She trailed off. Reaching out, she pressed a button and one of the screens changed, such that it had the face of Kari on it. "What is it, Kari?" she asked.
"The Hypnos Program has kicked in," replied Kari. "Subject- Kai Matsuki is going on a rampage."
Sora smiled.
"Excellent!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands together, with a laugh. "It won't be long before he destroys absolutely every one of those Rogue DigiAnthropes, and then he'll go on to wreck the UN and then Pecunia!" Her smiled turned into a wicked one. "Then we shall rule supreme."
"I don't think that's such a good idea," commented Dr. Lee. "We can't possibly govern the Earth on our own. Koushiro, you do agree with me on this, don't you?" He turned round and saw no one. "Koushiro?" he exclaimed, as he looked around him. "Where'd you go?"

Placing a helmet on his head, Koushiro floated over to the controls of the shuttle. 'Sora's gone mad,' he thought to himself. 'I've got to get back and warn them about her plans.' He sat down in the pilots seat, hoping that his choice of going it alone wasn't a bad idea. 'I'm sorry, Sora, but you have to be stopped.'

Now Fumiko had digivolved as had Takeru. Fumiko had become what could best be described as a Taomon and Takeru had become a Megaseadramon. The three of them now faced Kai.
"What's happening to Kai?" asked Fumiko, as she saw the WereGarurumon glowing with a dark energy that was blindingly black.
"I have no idea, but something has to be done about this," was Takeru's reply, the wind and snow buffeting his scaly body. Of all the DigiAnthropes there, he was the most susceptible to the terrible coldness that was sweeping across Norway. "Kai has got to be stopped."
Kai howled out in pure frustration and the clouds seem to respond to his bestial cry. The wind cut past each of them like knives, as snow and hail swirled round them, obscuring all vision. The WereGarurumon's eyes were red, as he glared at each of his friends with an intense hatred that was not like him. 'Destroy.' He leapt into action, lunging at the nearest DigiAnthrope.
Fumiko leapt out of the way. 'Time for a Talisman of Light,' she thought, drawing a symbol in the air with the index finger of her right hand/paw. The symbol began to glow and flew through the air towards Kai.
"Shoot!" she exclaimed out loudly. "He's quick!" She flew through the air and lashed out at him.
With a snarl, Kai backed off. The data began to reconfigure itself within his body, changing his DNA to suit the new beast he was becoming. MaloGarurumon was what he became, a ferocious WereGarurumon with hideously long claws and fangs, acidic drool dripping down from his muzzle. (Initiate secondary attack- Garuru Fang!) He inhaled sharply and then spat out a green beam of energy that hurtled through the air. (Target missed. Initiate primary attack- Feral Wolf Claw!)
Surprised at his quickness, Fumiko didn't have a chance to dodge Kai as he flew through the air and slashed at her with his sharp claws. The pain was intense. She fell to the snowy ground, and the cooling snow helped cool the burning sensation that she felt in her wounded sides.
"Target damage- minimal," droned Kai in a voice that lacked emotion, as he looked at her blindly with red eyes. "Initiate secondary attack- Garuru Fang." He inhaled sharply and then spat out a green beam of energy that flew straight towards Fumiko.
She leapt out of the way and then saw another beam heading straight towards her. Doing a backflip, and then leaping sideways, she leapt clear of the beam of energy.
"Initiate tertiary attack," droned Kai emotionlessly. "Grizzly Force!" A wave of energy radiated out from his body and smashed into each DigiAnthrope, downing them instantly. "Targets destroyed. New mission received. Destroy Berlin Base." With that, he walked away as if nothing had happened.
