My apologies to Evangeline, who has had to wait ages to see the second chapter. Seeing as it was her idea, this story is dedicated to her.

Chapter 2: The New Time Order

At dawn the three travellers crossed the River Allstead. From Allstead Bridge they could see The Hill rising above them. By eight o'clock they were at its foot.

The Hill was a large green mound with a tower at the top. The tower was quite tall and built of an almost white stone, so white that it seemed to soak up the sunlight and become too bright to look at. An overgrown path led up to it.

Ken looked worried. Cody had a vague notion that he was one of those people that mistrusted magic. Cody disliked Ken, though he couldn't explain why. Maybe it was because he was so friendly with Yolei.

Yolei led them up the path. She stopped at the tower's heavy wooden door, and knocked three times.

The wizard was a short young man with red hair. He looked as if he had been expecting them. He muttered something under his breath and suddenly they were on the open roof of the Tower. There were eight people sitting in a circle, not saying anything. Ken, Yolei and Cody quickly found chairs and sat down. The Wizard cleared his throat importantly.

"Welcome. It has come to my attention that one of the eleven here," he glanced around the circle, "Has great powers. That person is the Evenmith. For those of you who don't speak the Ancient tongue, that means "Time Master"." A murmur of surprise went round the circle.

"Mistress Mimi, the banner if you wouldn't mind."

The woman to Yolei's left stood up and handed the Wizard a bale of dark blue cloth, curtseying as she did so. The Wizard unrolled the Banner, leaving it suspended in the air. Against a dark blue background twelve silver stars were embroidered, surrounding an hourglass, also silver.

"This is the banner of the Time Order, who have been extinct for over seven-hundred years. The order was special because it only ever had twelve members. The most powerful member was the Evenmith, who could control Time itself. The time has come for the order to be remade, but that cannot be done with out a new Evenmith."

A brown haired man, obviously a Knight, stood up and said "But how are we to know who among us is this one?"

The Wizard looked grave. "Assemble here at the full moon and you shall have your answer."
