Yes everyone will seem out of character but I don't care I like it this way =p
Hopefully I'll get this done because it has such a kawaii ending!
Okay on with Chapter 1:
Anxious. That was one of the many words that could describe the nearly fifteen year old Hikari Kamiya. Tapping her foot on the ground and playing with her fingers, she sat nervously in her seat. < Please be an A, please be an A, please be an A! >
Her French teacher, Ms. Tomoku, walked around the class passing the results from last week's oral test. Hikari couldn't wait to get hers. She always did well in this class and never got any mark lower than an A; although, whenever the results came, she constantly had the feeling it would be her first B in French.
Observing the Ms. Tomoku's pace, she groaned. It would take forever before she reached her.
" Hikari, calm down. You know you are going to get at least an A!" her friend, Samantha assured.
" How would you know?" Hikari whined.
" How would I know? Everyone knows that! You need to have more confidence in yourself."
Hikari sighed. Samantha was right. Maybe she ought to have more faith in herself.
" Hikari…" A gentle voice spoke.
Hikari looked up. It was her teacher. Now more than ever she was nervous. This mark would go on her report card, the whole class was watching her and she didn't want to ruin her reputation of being the best in French of all of grade nine.
" You got…"
Tension was rising and everyone was listening into what the 'perfect girl' got.
"…another A." she smiled. Hikari's face lit up and she gave her teacher a big grin.
" Thank you" she exclaimed.
" Oh no, don't thank me. You are a very bright girl." Ms. Tomoku told her.
Hikari blushed.
Then, walking away her teacher finished, " Which is why I want to see you after school."
Everyone in the class gasped. Usually when the teachers said 'I'll see you after school' or something like that, it meant detention. All eyes were on Kamiya. Hikari was lost in thought. < Me? Hikari Kamiya? In detention? Tell me this isn't happening!!!> she panicked.
*
It was three O'clock PM and the brunette stood right in front of the French classroom door. All day people had been reminding her of the horrible demand Ms. Tomoku gave her. Some of them were pleased to remind her, probably glad to see her actually trip in one of her best classes.
" Don't worry Hikari. Maybe it's not detention." The redhead, Samantha said.
" Yeah right." Hikari grumbled.
" Oh well you are going to have to face it girl." April, her school's head cheerleader said with an evil grin.
Hikari glanced at her. She hated April. April was not only pretty and popular and rubbing it in Hikari's face all the time but did all the cruelest things to her: stealing her things, embarrassing her at any given chance and lured away any guy Hikari got close with, including Daisuke. Well, every guy except Takeru Takaishi who isn't very fond of girls like April. Hikari was thankful that TK wanted nothing to do with April and rather spend his time wit her. They've gotten extremely close in the past few years after the defeat of Malomyodismon. Sure, she had gotten close with all of the digidestined, but TK in particular since he was in most of her classes.
" Hikari!!!" a loud voice boomed in her ear.
" Wha-what?" she said shaking her head.
" What happened? You zoned out for a few seconds back there. Are you feeling okay?"
" Yeah, just daydreaming probably." she laughed.
" Humph, dreaming of Takeru right?" April smirked.
"NO!" Hikari snapped.
rolled her eyes and continued putting on her lipstick.
" Hikari, it's 3:02." Julie spoke up.
" I know…" Hikari groaned. Then, with the fear rising inside of her she slowly turned the knob.
" Oh just do it already!" April yelled as she shoved the brunette through the door.
" Hikari, you're here." Ms. Tomoku noticed. " Would you please shut the door?"
Hikari flashed a sharp glance towards April and then slammed the door in her face.
" Ugh, how rude!" April shrieked.
*
" Over here." Ms. Tomoku directed.
Hikari looked over to her teacher and that was when she saw her teacher's raven hair glistening in the sunlight. Her mouth held an angelic smile and her bright green eyes stared at the brunette sweetly.
Hikari walked over to her teacher.
" Am I in trouble?" Hikari asked sadly.
" Of course not! Why would you think that."
" OH!" Hikari sighed in relief. " Never mind. So why did you want to see me then?"
" Well, since you're my best student I want you to tutor one of my, unfortunate ones, for the oral test in two weeks." She sighed.
" Oh. I'm flattered Ms. Tomoku!" Hikari said happily. " Who is it?"
" He's over there." She pointed. Hikari excitedly turned to the direction of her teacher's finger. Over by the classroom windows stood a boy Hikari knew oh too well. His messy, yet stylish blond hair stirred in the wind as he looked down on their schoolyard. His ocean blue eyes shown with activity as he placed his hands on the ledge to level himself off the floor shouting,
" Hey Daisuke!"
" Hey Takeru!" Ms. Tomoku mocked. The boy turned towards his teacher. Upon doing so, he lost his balance on the ledge and fell backwards on the floor with a loud thump followed by an, " Owch!" Ms. Tomoku sighed. Hikari jogged over to her friend to help him up.
" Are you okay?" she giggled.
" Y-yeah." Takeru blinked as if he just woke up. Getting up he dusted off his white T-shirt.
" Takeru…" Ms. Tomoku said steadily.
" Sorry Miss." Takeru responded rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment.
" Hikari I want you to help Takeru as much as possible! On his most recent oral test he got an extremely low mark."
Hikari looked at Takeru and Takeru looked away.
" Alright Ms. Tomoku." Hikari replied although she was confused. Takeru did pretty well in French class, what does Ms. Tomoku mean by he got an extremely low mark?
*
" Can you hear anything?" April asked.
" No! All I hear is mumbling." Samantha answered. " Now I hear footsteps. FOOTSTEPS?!?!"
Suddenly the door swung open and Samantha fell forward, right into Takeru's arms.
" Whoa…" escaped from Takeru's mouth.
" Hi, um…" Samantha blushed as she stood up properly.
Takeru was going to say more when Hikari yanked him by the arm and dragged him away, leaving the girls behind her puzzled.
*
" Ahh! It's so cold!" Takeru complained as he folded his arms across his chest. Even with the new, brand-name, large winter coat his mom had bought for him last summer, he was still shivering.
"Le temps est si froid.[The weather is so cold.]" Hikari said with every word rolling off her tongue.
" What?"
" It means the weather is so cold, in French."
" Oh my god…" Takeru mumbled. " Already?"
" Yes. The oral test is next week Takeru. I still don't understand how you got such a low mark. I mean a D? That's just not like you."
" Yeah… so I had a bad day."
" There are straight D's and C's on all your French assignments, testes and quizzes so far." Hikari said with a sarcastic grin.
" Well…"
" You used to be so good in French last year." Hikari reminded.
" I don't know. I guess this year I got lazier and it got harder." Takeru suggested. Then he tried to change the subject. " Aren't you freezing to death?!" he shouted more than asked. Examining his friend he noted she was wearing the same pink winter coat he had since grade seven over a white skirt that fitted her perfectly. A red scarf hung from her neck and a lavender headband with tiny snowflakes replaced her pink hat.
" Non. [No.]" She replied plainly as she moved over to the bench inside the glass shelter. Takeru looked at her strangely as she began to shake and her teeth began to violently chatter. "O-ok. M-ma-may-beee a l-lile…"
Takeru laughed as he walked over to sit beside her. Her legs were curled up against her body and her face was quickly turning red from the winter cold.
" How could you even think about wearing a skirt when the weather man said there would be at least 2 feet of snow falling today?" Takeru asked.
" I-I dun kn-know… I-it w-as a-ll I h-h {achoo!}"
" Bless you."
" Th-hanks…" then she continued. " …h-had l-left in muh-my cl-clost-ett…"
" Sure what ever… you just wanted to flirt with some guys…" Takeru teased.
" Shut up!" Hikari spat. The words came out as clear as a bell.
" Hahah…I was just joking."
Hikari grunted.
" Okay I'm sorry." He apologized.
" Alright." She said.
Silence passed between the two. Takeru placed his hands in his jacket pocket as he leaned against the glass. The glass that surrounded them protected both from the strong wind outside, but that was all. They still felt snow make its way to their noses and the coldness still crept to their bones. Silently Takeru checked for any sign of the bus. None. After the bus comes, he and Hikari would most probably head to her house and she would tutor him there. He sighed. French is a natural for him, why were his grades so low?All of a sudden his thoughts were interrupted by Hikari's sneeze.
" Bless you." He said.
" Thanks." She giggled.
Takeru hesitated. < Should I? Wouldn't it be kind of weird? > Hikari sneezed again concluding his questions. < Just out of friendship. > He thought as he unzipped his coat.
" What are you doing?" she asked amused as he sat right next to her.
" Keeping you from getting sick." He answered throwing one half of his jacket over her shoulder. Then he zipped the two of them up. " Better?"
" Yeah!" Hikari exclaimed from the warm. After a few minutes of getting comfortable she nearly fell asleep.
" The bus is here." Takeru told her suddenly. Hikari opened her eyes. Then she laughed quietly,
" L'autobus est ici.[The bus is here.]"
