Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Heart ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )
Prologue
Hearts are fickle things. You can be born with one and then loose it. When you are a child you are welcomed and loved by everyone. When you grow older you understand. You understand why your parents yell. You understand why they cry. You understand the screams. And most of all you understand the pain. Takuya Kanbara was painfully jerked from his childlike innocence on the eve of his thirteenth birthday. He and his father were walking home from a soccer party and they decided to play some ball in the park. They were playing and having a blast. Then the inevitable happened. A shot in the distance. A scream. The worst was the scream. It was full of sorrow and pain. It came from both father and son as Takuya watched frozen to the spot as his father fell. The ball bounced a couple times and landed neatly beside the elder man's limp hand. Takuya felt his own arms drop by his side as the tears poured down. He turned his face to the heavens and screamed. The scream unleashed an anger. Pain, suffering, joys and dreams shattered. His hope washed away. The endless afternoons of his family laughing and playing gone. Dead. Destroyed by one shot. One bullet. It was on this night that the joyous story that Takuya Kanbara had written in the minds of his friends and family ended. And a new saga was created. Takuya had died. A boy was turned into a man. And his family curse was unleashed. A curse that would separate him from others. A curse that would lead him down a path of death, suffering, and destruction. Until he found happiness he would wander. He would run. And he would hide. Thus was the path of a lone wanderer. A true fighter. A true legacy.
