Chapter 11 Ice, Ice, Baby


A/N: Enjoy.

I'm one of the first few people to pull myself out of the
piles of rocks. I groan and hear Patamon coughing.
Takuya bursts from the rocks saying: "Ah, my head. It's the
only part of me that DOESN'T hurt." The others slowly
climb out of the rocks and stand up."Everyone all right?"
Izumi asks, dusting off her hat. "Yep," Kouji replies. He
reties his bandana onto his head. "No one got hurt?"
Takuya asks. "Well, I guess there's a first time for
everything." "What about me?" Neemon asks. His pants
are caught on a boulder. "I'll help," Patamon offers. He tugs
on one of Neemon's ears. We all laugh, but my laughter is cut
short as I suddenly remember Nekomon. "Nekomon!" I
shout. "What?" she asks, from behind me. Startled, I whirl
around and see her perfectly unharmed. I sigh, relieved.
"What happened to Cherubimon?" Izumi suddenly asks. "I
guess you defeated him," Bokomon replies. "No," Kouichi
says, seriously. "I know him. There's no way he could've survived that
avalanche so easily." "Even so, we destroyed his hideout
and he's probably off licking his wounds somewhere,"
Junpei says. "Thanks to Takuya and Kouji," Izumi says.
"Not just us," Kouji says. "You guys, too." "Not only that,"
Takuya adds. "You also gave up your spirits and cheered
us on. Only now there's a problem. "Huh?" everyone says
in unison. Takuya laughs. "Relax, guys. I was just
wondering how we were gonna give you back your spirits."
As soon as he said that, light flashes from his and Kouji's
D-scanners and the spirits fly out and zoom back into the
others' devices. "Hey!" Tomoki exclaims. "I got my spirits
back!" "Well, I guess the spirits heard me talking and went
back on their own," Takuya says. "Welcome back,
Kazemon!" Izumi says, cheerfully. "Geez whiz, I've never
been so happy to get something back I can't even eat!"
Junpei exclaims. Everyone laughs.





"So, what so we do now?"Kouji asks, leaning against a
boulder."Make a new plan, I guess," Takuya replies in a
tired voice. "Well, stop talking and start planning,"
Bokomon says. I yawn and sit next to Tomoki and Junpei,
who's eating a chocolate bar. "I need a nap," I say. "So do
I," Nekomon says. She does a cat stretch and sits next to
me. I look over to see Izumi talking to Kouichi. He,
suddenly, walks over to Kouji. "Kouji," he says. Kouji looks
at him. "So...uh...listen," Kouichi continues, hesitating.
"Yeah?" Kouji asks. Kouichi looks lost for words. "Come on
Kouichi," Izumi coaxs. "You can trust us. "Uh..." Kouichi
continues. "You see..." Suddenly, Patamon screams.
"What are you yelling for, Patamon?!" Junpei demands,
over the noise. "Cause he's coming!" Patamon replies. "For
dinner?" Neemon, stupidly, asks. "Cherubimon's coming?!"
Kouji demands. Large icicles pop out of the ground,
throwing everybody off their feet. I land on my butt a few
feet away from the others. "Ow!" I exclaim. "Are you O.K.,
Yalanda?" Nekomon asks, from beside me. Before I can
answer, I hear an evil chuckle. Looking up, I see a white
devil Digimon. "Who's that?" I ask. Bokomon takes out his
book on the Digital World and opens it. He flips a few
pages and stops. "IceDevimon," he replies. "The nastiest
creature around. Don't expect any mercy from this
creature. "Cherubimon sent you to finish us off, huh?"
Junpei demands. "Cherubimon?" IceDevimon questions.
"Ha! I wouldn't compare me to that weakling, if I were you."
"If you're not with him, what do you want with us?" Izumi
demands. "Oh, just death and destruction," Bokomon
replies, eyes still on his book. "You don't want to know
what happened." "What?!" Everyone shouts in unison.
"Well, he went on a rampage, devouring every bit of data
he could find," Bokomon explains. "Eventually, he was
captured, but since he was too powerful for even
Cherubimon himself to destroy, he was sent to
imprisonment with no end." "Does the book say where he's
supposed to be imprisoned?" Tomoki asks. "It doesn't, but I
have a feeling we've found it," Bokomon replies. "So, tell
me," IceDevimon says. "You're human, are you not?"
"Yeah," Takuya replies, exasperated. "What's it to you?"
"Hold your tongue, little creature," IceDevimon replies. "I
only wish to express my gratitude to those who freed me."
"You'll never get the chance as long as we're around!"
Takuya says, pulling out his D-scanner. Kouji does the
same. IceDevimon smirks and lifts a finger, blasting two
beams of light. Takuya and Kouji's D-scanners, suddenly,
freeze up. "He froze my D-scanner!" Takuya explains,
frantically pushing buttons on his device. "This is a 'thank
you'?!" "You two are powerful, so I'll save you both for later,"
IceDevimon says. "Right after I eliminate these
distractions." He studies us one by one. He stops when he
sees me. A cruel smile spreads across his face and he
takes a flying leap, landing in front of me. Nekomon jumps
in front of me, growling. IceDevimon chuckles and flicks
her away like a dried-up booger. She hits an icicle hard.
"Nekomon!" I yell. IceDevimon reaches down and grabs
me. I scream. "Put her down!" Takuya yells, furiously.
"NOW!!!" IceDevimon ignores him. "You're very powerful,
so I'll start with you first," he says to me. I glance down at
the others. They're glaring up at him. "Hey, Chump!" Izumi
calls up to him. "The pain's gonna be on YOU!!! "I'll second
that," Tomoki pipes up, pulling out his D-scanner. "Count
me in," Junpei says, vehemently."Me, too," Kouichi adds.
"I'm not gonna let you hurt my friends." He, Izumi, and
Junpei also take out their devices.

"SPIRITO EVOLUTION!"

"BEETLEMON!"

"KAZEMON!"

"KUMAMON!"

"LOWEMON!"

"Thunder Fist!" Beetlemon calls out. He slams into
IceDevimon. "Ah!" I cry out. His attack shocks me a little.
"Sorry, Yalanda!" he calls out to me. "Hurricane Wave!"
Kazemon calls. IceDevimon steps back, avoiding the
attack. Kumamon jumps up into the air. "Frozen Tundra!"
he calls, forming his body into an icicle. He plunges
himself towards IceDevimon. IceDevimon holds me
directly up in his path. Kumamon stops abruptly when he
sees me. IceDevimon grabs him. "You wouldn't want to
hurt her, would you?" he asks and licks Kumamon's head
like an ice cream cone. He shudders and his eyes buck
out. "Tomoki!" Kazemon cries. She rushes to him only to
be somehow caught by the throat my IceDevimon. "Your
look of fear makes you so much prettier," he says.
"IceDevimon, let them go or else!" Takuya threatens.
"Good idea," he says. "Not great..." He drops us and
Kazemon catches me and puts me down safely. Lowemon
catches Kumamon. "That's a first step," Beetlemon
comments. "Now, get lost, creep!" "But I'm having too
much fun to leave," IceDevimon replies."You're such
unsual prey. Now, what can I do to prolong my joy?" He
thinks for a moment. "Ah! Of course!" He gets down on all
fours and flaps his big, bat wing really fast. Cold air blows
and I feel something freezing on my legs. I look down. Ice
is freezing Beetlemon, Kazemon, and I. "I can't move my
legs!" Kazemon exclaims."Isn't it wonderful?" IceDevimon
asks. "This way, I can get you one at a time and there's
nothing you can do about it. The best idea I've had in
years!" Kumamon runs toward IceDevimon. "Crystal
Freeze!" he calls, blowing icy breath on his feet.
IceDevimon jumps up into the air, breaking the ice around
his feet. "Come down and fight!" Lowemon calls up to him.
"I've gotta better idea!" IceDevimon calls back down. "You
come to me...if you can!" "Right!" Lowemon says. He and
Kumamon Slide Evolve to their beast spirits. Two large
axes drop in front of Korikakumon. He picks them up and
closes his eyes. "We must stop him..." he starts. "NOW!!!"
His eyes snap open and he vanishes. "Avalanche Axes!"
He calls from above. I look up and see him slashing his
axes, wildly. IceDevimon moves away from him. "Ebony
Blast!" KaiserLeomon calls. He blasts dark energy at him.
He blocks it with one of his bat wings. "Your attacks..." he
says, idly."They bore me." He looks around and his eyes
seem to catch something. He flies towards Takuya and
Kouji, landing in front of them. He grabs them and they cry
out. "Put them down, you evil demon!" Bokomon
shouts. "First, some fun!" IceDevimon exclaims, threatingly,
hold up a clawed finger to them. Korikakumon and
KaiserLeomon growl. "How delicious," he says, smiling
evilly."I just knew you wouldn't attack if your friends were in
danger, but there are things I don't know about you
humans. Such interesting, fragile creatures. I propose a
game." He puts Takuya and Kouji down and a giant,
transparent dome appears around them. "Let's see how
much these two can stand my ice," IceDevimon continues.
"And how much you're willing to let them freeze!" "Fight,
coward!" Kazemon shouts to him. "Coward?" IceDevimon
questions. "A coward runs from pain, but I embrace it!" He
swats Korikakumon and KaiserLeomon and they crash into
an icicle. "So, you still want me to fight your friends?" "You
let us out of here and we'll give you a real fight!" Takuya
yells through the dome. IceDevimon laughs. "You already
have a fight on your hands." Suddenly, icy vein-like things
appear on the dome. Kouji pushes Takuya out of the way
and they grab him. He screams. "KOUJI, NO!!!!" Takuya
screams. IceDevimon laughs."Such a lovely sound. That's
what you get when you help your friends."Ebony Blast!"
KaiserLeomon calls out. A big blast of dark energy hits
IceDevimon on the back. He turns around as dark energy
surrounds him. "How 'bout some pain for you?!" He
demands, furiously."Ooh, delightful," IceDevimon replies.
Growling, KaiserLeomon leaps at him. He laughs again
and jumps into the air. KaiserLeomon slams into the
transparent dome, shattering it. Kouji falls back and
Takuya catches him. "Let's fight!" Takuya exclaims. "No..."
Kouji says, weakly. "We'll only be in the way. We have to
run."Takuya sighs. "Oh, all right." He wraps an arm around
Kouji's shoulder. "It's up to you now, Kouichi!" Takuya
shouts, as he and Kouji move out of their way. "Are you
ready?" IceDevimon asks. "I wouldn't want you to be
unprepared for this fight, because it's your last!"
Kaiserleomon growls again and leaps toward him. An icy
whirlwind forms around the two and shadows of them can
be seen. "Why doesn't this stupid D-Scanner unfreeze
already?!" Takuya demands. Soon, KaiserLeomon flies out
of the whirlwind and falls to the ground. IceDevimon laughs
evilly. "KaiserLeomon!" Korikakumon exclaims. "I'm fine,"
KaiserLeomon says, weakly. "Just free the others.

"But..."

"NOW!!!"

"O.K."

Korikakumon stomps over to Kazemon, Beetlemon,
and I. With quick movement, he frees us all. "Now for some
fun of our own!" Beetlemon exclaims.

"SLIDE EVOLUTION!"

"METALKABUTERIMON!"

"ZEPHYRMON!"


"You know," IceDevimon says. "It's better to destroy
many than just a few."How about just one?"
KaiserLeomon demands."YOU! It's time to show you the
strength of TRUE friendship!" Korikakumon inhales and
blows out icy breath. Zephyrmon spins around really fast,
her body turning into a tornado. The tornado touches the
icy breath, creating an icy vortex. It encircles IceDevimon. I
hear him laugh. "You really think cold would stop me!"
MetalKabuterimon rushes up to the vortex and aims his
cannon-like nozzle at it. "Think THIS might stop you?" he
demands. "Electron Cannon!" The attack blasts him. He
screams and cracks appear on his body. "It's not possible!"
he exclaims. "I'm cracking!" You don't like it?" Zephyrmon
asks, tauntingly. "Dark Master!" KaiserLeomon calls,
leaping through the air and dark energy surrounds him. He
rams right through IceDevimon and he screams in pain.
KaiserLeomon Slide Evolves back into Lowemon and takes
his Digi-code with his D-scanner. Exhausted, he drops to
his knees and de-evolves back into Kouichi. Kouji walks up
to him and extends his hand. Kouichi looks up at him,
surprised. Kouji smiles reassuringly at him. Kouichi smiles
back and, taking his hand, allows Kouji to help him up.
"Well, Kouichi," Takuya says, grinning. "I gotta say you are
DEFINITELY one of us after that fight. "Yeah,"
Korikakumon agrees. "Welcome to the party." Suddenly, I
hear a beeping sound. Takuya and Kouji look down at their
D-scanners. The ice around them melt. "All right!" Takuya
exclaims. "It thawed out!" Because IceDevimon's
defeated, everything's going back to normal," Bokomon
says, smiling. "My pants are wet," Neemon complains.
"So's your head," Patamon says, from the top of Neemon's
head. A harsh wind blows, nearly knocking us all of our
feet. "Huh?" Takuya says. We all look up and see
something floating. "What is that?" Korikakumon asks. "I'll
give you three guesses," MetalKabuterimon replies."I only
need one," Takuya says, narrowing his eyes. "It's not over
yet, guys!" I look over at Kouji. He looks at Kouichi without
moving his head. Kouichi glances back, nodding
understandingly.
