Chapter 4: Life Like Jenga
During the next weeks Kari took her first baby steps out of her shell. She talked more often to
Yolie, Cody, and Takeru. And met some people they were acquainted with. Things were
starting to look a bit brighter for her even though she wasn't completely free of depression range
and still saw her psychologist. She had a steady home with her foster parents, Ryu and Anna,
and wasn't planning on leaving until she had her baby. But like the seasons that govern the earth
plans change. They can change for good or bad, for the better of a person, or to test a person in a
severe way. Not only mentally, but emotionally. For everyone involved with the teenage girl
this test had arrived.
Certainly not in the mild, Sword in The Stone way you would expect, but it showed up and
for Kari, served to help stab another wound into her. A deep wound that would never heal
until she took her last breath. It also put her into a position to help decide someone elses fate.
She could either try her very hardest to forgive a horrible sin or let the sinner suffer the equitable
consequences.
“Got the camera ready?” A blonde haired girl asked the girl next to her.
“Yeah Tracy has it ready to film.” The girl answered.
“I have this one for still shots just in case!” A red head stated laughing.
“Lets go, and remember when she starts to slip give her a push!”
“Oh this is going to be so funny!”
“She's not gonna know what hit her!”
All the girls snickered at the blondes comment as they set out to seek revenge for the events a
week before. (it's been about six or seven since Kari met Yolie etc.)
Since their first encounter Michelle had decided to be as mean to Kari as she could. Resulting in
the scolding and then the eventual warning of a breakup from Takeru. The `last straw' was when
she initiated a rumor that Kari had been sleeping with a teacher, who coincidentally wasn't in
school as often as before, and that he was the father of the baby she carried. It made perfect
sense to some as she always had the best grades in his class and seemed close to him. Even to a
teacher, who heard the rumor while in the bathroom, it seemed feasible. Around the possible
time she conceived the teacher in question had seemed sort of out of it. He was distraught and
bothered about something but he never told anyone what.
So devastated by such a rumor Kari locked herself in her room and didn't come to school for
three days and when she finally did come back she wouldn't speak or look at Takeru. He found
out about the rumor through a friend named Daisuke Motomiya. Never doubting Michelle
started it, he confronted her.
(back to that day. Oh look I can go back in time! Um...back to the story)
“Michelle I need to talk to you!” Takeru went up to her after practices were over.
(she's a cheerleader. I have nothing against them just experiences with bitchy ones!)
“Hey Takeru darling. What's up?!” she feigned innocence.
“You tell me. What's this rumor going around about-!”
“C'mon Michelle we'll miss the opening of the show!” a fellow cheerleader called out
interrupting Takeru.
“I'm coming, I'm coming!” she turned back to Takeru. “Can it wait Takeru? I'm in a hurry!”
“No. Michelle I thought you were a nice person when I met you, but I see I was wrong.”
“What do you mean Takeru?” Her eyes were wide with false confusion.
“What do you have against Kari? She's done absolutely nothing to you and you keep picking on her! Why Michelle?!” Takeru showed his anger clearly.
“Takeru I was trying to protect you. She told me in the bathroom one day that she was my rival and that she'd get you no matter what! She's a sniveling little whore, she'll use the innocent-pregnant-girl trick on you!” (she's good at lying!)
“You obviously don't know her very well.” Takeru replied sadly.
“Anyone can change the way they act around two different people Takeru. If you don't believe me ask Kisa and Lily. Or even Sarah Takei, she was in the bathroom that day!” Michelle defended her position against Kari.
Takeru looked down at his hand. The hand that felt the new life inside Kari and had drawn them ever so close in an indescribable bond. He knew everything she'd said was a lie. He knew the Kari whos stomach he'd rubbed wasn't like that. He felt deep down in his heart that Michelle did care about him, but was going about dealing with her insecurities in the wrong way.
`One day I'm sure I'll forgive her for this. I just hope she can rid herself of her possessiveness.' He thought, making a decision about him and Michelle.
“Takeru?”
“You shouldn't treat people like an object of ownership. One day you'll understand, but we weren't meant to be. I hope you can find true happiness someday Michelle.”
“Wait a minute, are you breaking up with me?!” she screamed letting everyone there know.
“Yeah, goodbye.” Takeru calmly left the heartbreaking scene. (at least for miss cheer it is)
(End of flashback. Time I command you to move forward! Oh sorry..)
Ever since that day she had been seething on the inside. She blamed it all on Kari and had been planning a way to get even ever since.

“So don't worry about it anymore kay.” Takeru told the brunette walking beside him.
“Alright if you say so.” She answered softly looking down at the ground.
Takeru smiled “you're so cute when you do that!” He told her boldly.
Kari's cheeks turned a beautiful shade of red. “Y-you really think I'm-” she stopped herself.
“What, shy? No way!” Takeru laughed lightheartedly
Kari on the other hand, was offended, and was getting ready to cry. Takeru explained himself and showed his true feelings for her.
“N-no Kari that's not what I meant!”
“Then what did you mean?!” She said dejectedly.
“What I meant was-” he stammered while stopping to look into her eyes. “You're not cute, but, y-you're, you're beautiful, gorgeous, an angels rival! Kari I know I've never spoken to you before, but the truth is, now that I've gotten to know you, I- I really like you a lot!” Takeru stared into her shocked eyes.
“Takeru I- I!” She wanted to tell him so bad. `My true feelings; I like him a lot too' she thought to herself. “I want to open up to you, but I'm finding it very hard.” She said sadly. “After what I've been through, I'm finding it harder to trust people. I'm so sorry Takeru!” She began to cry feeling guilty for mistrusting Takeru and the others when they had been so kind to her.
“Don't cry Kari I understand what you're saying!” He grabbed her up into a hug.
“Thank you Takeru.” She managed through her tears.
They remained embraced for a few more minutes before they continued to their destination, Takeru's house.
Once they arrived they were greeted by Takeru's sweet mother and laid back father. They were a little worried about Takeru bringing a pregnant girl home, but once Kari started to talk to them they saw she was highly intelligent. So like everyone else they wondered how she'd ended up in her present condition.

“Then you take this number and multiply it by these two to get the percent of getting the three heads and two tails.” Kari explained.
“Oh I see now! It's so much easier when you explain it! Mrs. Hunter just makes it seem so hard sometimes!” Takeru laughed.
“It's not that difficult. I think Mrs. K's science class is much harder.” Kari frowned.
“That's true!” Takeru giggled. “Hey aren't you hungry? I'll go get you something.” Takeru jumped up.
“N-no I couldn't. I don't want to be a burden to your family Takeru. I-I eat too much!”
“Well yeah you're eating for two. You're not a burden, we have plenty to eat!”
As he left that pretty shade of red crept up to Kari's soft cheeks. A half hour and six turkey sandwiches later Kari and Takeru had finished their homework and settled down in front of the TV. with an arsenal of junk food.
“Some people on this show are so weird!” Kari laughed.
“I know, you should've seen the guy last week who jumped off a tall bridge and pissed his pants it was so hilarious!” Takeru laughed so hard he cried.
(Meanwhile in the kitchen)
“Y'know hon I think he likes the girl.” The tall woman who resembled Takeru said at the sink.
“Why would he? I mean she's nice, but she's obviously not too careful to be knocked up at thirteen!” The man at the table responded from behind his paper.
“Yes she's too young to be a mother, but you can't be too quick to judge! We don't know what happened to her so we can't say she's bad for Takeru.”
“Slow down sweet heart don't break out the wedding bells yet. He still has to get through college.”
“I know, but they're at that age where true love can happen. Most teens who are off and on from around this age through college are the ones who marry happily. I just want Takeru to have a happy marriage and not be like his aunt Catherine and uncle Ray with their 20 something unhappy divorces!”
“Tell me about it. I'd take the sweet teen-mother-to-be as a daughter-in-law any day over a repeat of their lives!”

Okay since people wanted me to update this story I'll leave it here (yeah not a nice cliffhanger I
know) & I'll finish this chapter next time okay. Is that ok with everyone? I still don't know
what to call it. My creative juices are dried out that's why I haven't been working on my stories,
schools sucked the life right outta me. Sorry everyone I'll try harder I swear!
