"BACK YAGAMI!"
Tai pouted but pulled his arm from around the blondes shoulders. "You need to lighten up, ya know."
Matt rolled his eyes, brushing silky bangs away from his face. "You know I hate it when someone enters my personal space. It's just one of my quirks."
The brunette snorted. "One of you many quirks. There's the hair thing, the lone wolf thing, the 'I must be more beautiful than everyone else' thing.... The list goes on."
"Whatever."
"See," Tai sounded exasperated. "There's also the whole 'i don't care' thing. Ya know, it doesn't help that your personal space is, like, ten feet around you. How are ya s'posed to get any girlfriends if you're always yelling at people to back off?"
"I've had enough of the whole dating scene," Matt sighed tiredly as the pushed there way out of their school. "Reanne just about spent ever penny I had and Sory only dated me at all 'cause she thought it'd make some other guy jealous - which it did. I'd rather just hang out with the guys."
"Well, how ya gonna do that if we can't get close enough for some male bonding?"
"I just don't like to be touched too much," the blonde stated stubbornly.
Dark brows shot up. "And that's why you seemed to be enjoying yourself at the last party when that blonde was pawing at you?"
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were jealous," came the retort.
Tai's mind froze and he began to stutter. There was no way Matt could know his secret, was there?
No, no. He realized what Matt had meant. "The day I'm jealous of you is the day pigs fly." And that was perfectly true. He wasn't jealous of his best friend, he was jealous of the girl he had been with that night.
It had been like having a bucket of ice water dumped onto him, to arrive at the party to find his secret crush curled up on the armchair, swapping spit with the most curvaceous young thing he'd ever seen. And it was then that he realized that he'd never be able to compete with any of the girls that were regularly throwing themselves at Matt. He was a tall gangly thing with a mop of messy brown hair. His grace on the soccer field seemed to leave him the moment he stepped off it and he was constantly tripping over his own feet.
Matt on the other hand was a tall willowy musician. He didn't seem to have a clumsy bone and his body and seemed to move with the unconscious grace of a dancer. His platinum blonde hair was always combed perfectly, though there was always some strand that fell in front of his face which only added to his appeal. He had the bluest crystal eyes Tai had ever seen and one could alway lose himself in there depths. Matt was, in a word, beautiful. Tai was not.
In his own mind at least.
As Tai drifted off into dream world Matt was doing a little admiring of his own. And not of the girls that were throwing flirtatious glances his way. Matt knew how he himself looked, knew he was handsome, and used it to his advantage often enough. He saw in Tai what Tai couldn't see in himself. Tai's clumsiness just made him seem adorable, like a little boy. He was tall and slim, but well muscled, the build of an athlete. His hair was a wild tumble of chocolate locks that turned almost auburn in the sunlight. His eyes were a warm brown that always showed exactly what he was feeling. He had a winning personality and a smile that constantly charmed the hearts of those he was around.
And Matt wanted Tai more than anything else in the word. A same sex relationship almost promised to ruin Tai's soccer career and it was likely that his band would loose a lot of it's appeal if the best looking member happened to be gay. Of course it might please a lot of those freaky yaoi fan girls, but still....
So, he didn't tell anyone. Well, TK knew, but that was his brother. Siblings weren't classed with everyone else. They could be a real pain, but when it counted they could keep you sane.
Of course if he thought he had a chance with Tai he'd have said something, but as he saw it, Tai thought of him as a friend and nothing more.
It was true that he had trouble with people entering his personal space, but he exaggerated it a bit so as not to let Tai too close. The closer he was to the brunette the harder it was to think and the more likely it was that he'd do something he'd latter regret. Like kiss him.
Mat's eyes shifted towards Tai's lips and he nearly did kiss him, right out in the middle of the schools court yard where everyone would be a witness to his mistake.
Keeping away wasn't working as well as it had started out. It just made him want his friend more and it made Tai get closer. The Keeper of Courage loved a good challenge and that's what he saw Matt's barriers as. Matt feared that some day Tai would get past his barriers and he'd be one dead duck. He'd be rejected and would never again be able to face the outside world again.
"What are you doing this weekend?" Tai asked, breaking through his thoughts.
Matt shrugged, glad to be distracted. "I dunno. Probably writing some song lyrics or practicing."
The slightly taller boy pulled a face. "Sounds boring, but then again I'm no musician. How 'bout coming over to my place? We can rent some movies and I can raid the convenience store for munchies."
"Sounds great," Matt smiled as his friend whooped and jumped in to the air. And nearly fell on his ass when he landed.
"Whoops," Tai grinned sheepishly. "Clumsy me."
"And if you were any different you just wouldn't be you," Matt laughed. He had no suspicions what so ever that Tai was cursing himself on the inside. The athlete was surprisingly good at hiding things from his friend.
He shifted his book bag on his back as they headed toward the appartment he was staying at with his father. "I'll grab my things and leave a note for dad. He'll let me go anyways, this just means I'll be there a bit earlier."
Tai nodded, kicking a pebble ahead of him. "I'd probably get in trouble if I ever did that. But then you practically live on your own now, anyways. You're in bed when your dad gets home and at school when he leaves. Plus he's out on business most weekends, trying to find the perfect story. I kinda feel sorry for you."
"To tell you the truth I feel sorry for myself," the blonde replied darkly, eyes shadowed.
Tai bit his lip as his friend slipped into his brooding. He felt guilty for bringing up the subject. Now Matt would be lost in his thoughts until they reached his apartment and would most likely be depressed until latter that evening. Why did he have to go and bring it up?! Tai knew perfectly well how his friend usually reacted to this. Why was it that he always said things without thinking first?
He studied Matt's profile from the corner of his eye and sighed. He just wanted to be able to make him feel better about his life. To make Matt realize that he had people who loved him, people who would stand by him no matter what. Tai supposed that Matt realized he had that in their friendship, but it wasn't the same. Tai wanted to be with Matt. He wanted to be the one to care for Matt beyond friendship. He wanted so much to go step over the line and become his lover.
But he couldn't. Rejection was a thing he couldn't handle at this point. He was a teenager. His emotions were all mixed up. All it took was a huge heartbreak at this crucial point and he'd sink so deep in depression he'd never be able to escape.
So here he was, wishing for something he was sure he'd never have while Matt brooded himself into his own little world. It was not the most promising start to a weekend but there wasn't much of a chance that it would get any worse.
They arrived at the apartment a few minutes latter and Matt gathered his things together before leaving the note for his father.
By now Matt had broken out of his depression and was chatting almost animatedly. Tai was absorbing it happily. Glad to see his best friend like this, even if he found the conversation of bands and music rather boring. True, he enjoyed to go to all of the Teenage Wolves concerts, but that was because Matt had the voice of an angle. Not to mention he could stare at the other boy while he gyrated seductively around the stage and not become suspicious. Matt had the ability to make crowd go wild with excitement or sob quietly. He had a way with a crowd no one else had.
Tai was brimming as they reached his apartment. His parents already knew he had intended on inviting the blonde and had already given their permission, though they'd be leaving to visit his aunt latter that night and wouldn't be home until after midnight. By now they trusted the two teens to stay alone. Matt had been staying over frequently since the their first adventures in the Digital World.
Tai had rented a few movies and had bought the chips on the way home so that they wouldn't have to bother with it latter on.
Mrs. Yagami greeted them in the kitchen, a spatula in here hand as she stood over the stove, the smell of something burnt wafting over to them. Neither boys wanted to know what she happened to be attempting to cook this time. It was better not to think about it.
"Maybe she'll burn it beyond recognition and we'll hafta get take-out," Tai said hopefully as the slipped into the living room.
Matt nodded. "My father cooks better then your mum and he'd rather chance my cooking then eat his own."
"You're a great cook. And you always wear that pink apron with the frills. You just look so adorable in that thing," He said it teasingly but meant every word of it.
Blue eyes turned to glare at him, "It's the only one dad has. Would you rather I got grease and flour and whatever else splatters all over my clothes? I hate being considered adorable. It doesn't suit my image."
Tai laughed. "'Big bad Matt'. Do you prefer that? How 'bout 'Ishida the lady killer' or 'sexy rock star'?"
Matt quirked an elegant brow at him. "Sexy?"
A bright flush coloured Tai's cheeks as he tried to cover up his mistake. "From what I've heard from all the girls."
For a moment Tai thought he saw disappointment flash through his friends features, but it was gone too quickly for him to be certain. But it was enough for a bit of hope to flare up from his despair. Perhaps, if he was lucky, Matt really sis return his feelings.
After a few minutes of channel surfing and coming up with nothing interesting to watch, the two headed off to Tai's room where the brunette turned on the head-banging heavy metal music he favoured lately. Matt just rolled his eyes at this choice and flung himself at Tai's with a great deal of comfort that only came with familiarity.
The blonde Keeper of Friendship could not understand Tai's fascination with this type of music. He himself preferred pop and a little soft rock and Tai was always at his concerts and seemed to enjoy himself. He couldn't understand how Tai could like his music, yet hate anything else of the same genre. It didn't make sense.
Of course there was always the thought that Tai had been humoring him all of these years and didn't really enjoy his band as much as he appeared to, but that was a dangerous thought, one he preferred not to dwell on too deeply.
Matt felt eyes on him and looked up to find Tai's chocolate gaze studying him. Tai looked away as soon as he noticed that Matt had turned to him, blushing softly.
That was something new, something that Matt had to wonder about. There had been something about that gaze that was different from the way Tai usually looked at him, something that made Matt's spine tingle. And then the blush. Why would Tai have blushed just because Matt had caught him looking at him? They were friends, they looked at each other all the time.
But Matt shook away the thoughts shifted on the comforter, a little uncomfortable with what his instincts were trying to tell him. They could be wrong and he did not want to make any mistakes.
Tai turned and started playing with the knick-knacks piled all over his dresser, trying to find something, anything to take his mind off the way Matt looked sprawled out over his bed, as if beckoning Tai to join him. The mental images it was giving him were down right sinful and were liable to get him in deep trouble.
Dammit!! Why did it have to be so hard?! It just wasn't right to fall for your best friend. It could ruin so much. Everything they had become could all be destroyed by one slip of the tongue or an unconscious touch. And hiding this was becoming harder and harder. Why couldn't he just have been normal and felt the way someone normally felt for a best friend?
He sighed and his hand paused over the picture frame that sat there. It was a picture of he and Matt at the age of thirteen, his arm slung over the blondes shoulder, a huge grin plastered to his face while Matt seemed to have been going through one of his moods. His lips dipped down at the corners, forming a frown and his eyes were flashing as he was turned toward Tai, as if telling him with a look to leave him alone. Tai had hated it in those few years where Matt had always seemed to be angry or depressed. Half the time the blonde had done 360's in mood, being quite open and smiling one minute then icy and withdrawn the next. It had been hard then, trying to guess what was going to happem next, always walking on pins and needles.
But even then he would have never given Matt up for anything. It was then he had begun to grasp just how deeply he felt for his friend. Those had been very confusing times. Almost as frustrating as now. At least then he wasn't receiving mixed signals. Only hate filled glares.
Tai was so absorbed in his thoughts he didn't notice Matt walk up behind him until he felt the brush of the blondes breath on his neck. He fought down a shiver as Matt gazed over his shoulder and chuckled. "I was a real ass then."
Tai shrugged. "Emotions are always strung high at that age. 'Sides, you never heard me complain about it did you."
Again, the blonde chuckled. "Never. That's why, even if I acted like I hated you, I could never seem to stay away from you."
Tai wanted to turn around and wrap his arm around the blondes neck and kiss the breath right out of him. He bit his lip against the urge and nodded instead, praying that Matt would soon move away before it was too late. He was always ranting about his personal space and here he was almost pressed up against him. It made no sense.
And suddenly there was something moist against his neck, right below the hairline. In a rush he realized Matt was kissing. Just a light pressing of lips against skin, but it was enough to make Tai's pulse jump and his whole body to flush.
Hands reached around his waist, pulling him against a lithe body and he followed the motion, allowing himself to enjoy the proximity. Lips again pressed against his skin, this time at the junction between his shoulder and neck. They sucked at his neck with much more hunger then the last and he pushed himself against the firm body behind him, feeling Matt harden with the action.
With no warning, Matt whirled him around and jammed his lips against Tai's in a bruising Kiss. Tai retaliated quite willing, delving kiss tongue into the blondes mouth. Arms wrapped round each other, bringing them closer and adding friction to the mix.
Matt's head dipped, nipping at the exposed flesh of his collar bone. Tai flung his head back and moaned softly, glad for the music pumping from his stereo. He hoped this was going to get a lot more serious and he did not want his parents to over hear this little encounter.
Hands were playing with Tai's shirt, pulling it from his slacks and then going on to run fingers under the white cotton material. As the brunette gasped and moaned from the soft pressure of the lazy massage. Matt's lips had wandered down to the hollow at the base of Tai's throat. He dipped his tongue into the slight indent, receiving another moan for his effort.
The sounds leaving Tai's mouth were driving him slowly insane. Why was it again he had waited so long to initiate this? Why had he wasted so much time wanting and never having? No matter, he'd have what he wanted now.
His hands slipped from beneath the other teens shirt as he shushed a protest with a slight nip at the brunettes lips. Buttons were quickly undone, leaving a tantalizing view of golden skin. He kissed Tai hard on the lips before running a path of moist kisses down to one nipple where he paused to suck and nip at the hardening bud.
One hand moved to play with his other nipple and his other arm snaked around his waist to grip at Tai's rear. Matt could hardly hear the music over the sound of his heart thumping in his chest and he was quickly losing his own control. He had to get them to the bed before he toppled them both onto the floor.
He pulled away and tugged the brunette towards the bed. Tai stood there blinking stupidly before understanding dawned and he followed willingly.
Matt tugged off his shirt and slacks with no care of ripping the material and soon Tai's pants were lying in the pile next to the bed. Then, with a soft push, he tumbled Tai back into the mattress. He couldn't help but stand back and study the athlete for a moment. The vision nearly took his breath away. Tai was all lithe muscle and tanned flesh. Chocolate eyes simmered up at him from half closed lids, beckoning him forward without words. Damn, but Tai was sexy like this. He only hoped he'd be able to see the other teen like this again and maybe start a serious relation beside.
Throwing all caution out the window, he fairly jumped into the bed next to Tai, unmindful of Tai's mother not 15 feet away from the room. He was lost to everything but the feeling of Tai beneath him, Tai touching him, Tai kissing him. He was too far gone to think about the adults would reaction to this. It wasn't likely he'd have cared even if his thoughts were lucid at the moment.
Their boxers were lost somewhere in the storm of passion and they both revelled in the feeling of skin against skin, arching and writhing to create more of the delicious friction they both craved. But there was something else that Matt wanted and it was at this moment this desire became more adamant. He pulled away, wrenching a gasp of protest from the brunettes swollen lips.
Matt kissed him lightly before asking, "Do you have... anything that'll make this easier on you?"
A dark blush crept over Tai's entire body as he nodded towards the drawer next to his bed.
Matt smiled feraly. So Tai wasn't as innocent as he had always suppose.d He fumbed for inside the drawer for a moment before coming across the lube, wondering offhandedly how Tai had gotten his hands on some. He coated his fingers with the cool jell as he bent over his soon to be lover, slowly bringing them to touch Tai's entrance.
The brunette tensed slightly at the cool touch before relaxing against the gentle persuasion of Matt's gentle probing. Slowly, the finger entered him as he moaned at the invasion. True, the sensation of having something pressed inside of him was strange, but he had never expected it to be quite this good.
Skilful fingers stretched him carefully, barely bringing him any pain. He was moaning and pressing against the digits by the time it was pulled away and Tai cried out for their loss.
"Sshhh," Matt whispered. "This'll only take a moment." He added the lube to his arousal and slowly began to push himself into Tai's tight entrance.
Tai stiffened, the pain catching him a little off guard, but it was bearable. He ordered himself to relax, instinct telling him this would make it less painful. He pulled Matt close as the blonde strained to keep still. "Please," he whispered urgently Matt's ear as he became accustomed to the intrusion. Matt nodded and began to thrust slowly.
Tai gripped his back, hips raising to meet Matt with every downward thrust. He saw stars as he felt a burst of pure pleasure and cried out, urging his lover on with unintelligible words. He could feel the pressure build as Matt reached between them to grip his length, pumping it in rhythm to their thrusts.
A choked scream escaped his lips as the damn broke and he was sent over the edge, throwing back his head he came, covering both their chests with his essence. In the sweet euphoria afterwards he felt Matt follow him. The blonde pulled him closer as they lay spent, enjoying just being next to each other in this completely content state.
Suddenly Tai bolted strait up and looked around with wide eyes. Matt felt a jolt of panic and sat up next to him.
"SHIT!! My mum's still home!" The brunette wailed and Matt couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief. Tai wasn't upset about what had happened. Panicked brown eyes turned toward him. "What if they heard, Matt? My parents are open minded and all, it's just I doubt they'd be too thrilled about my having sex with my best friend under their roof."
Matt laughed and tousled Tai's wilder then usual brown locks. "If your mum had've heard she'd have come pounding in here. Besides I doubt anyone could have heard anything over that ruckus," he gestured towards the stereo which was still pumping out that deafening rock music into the background.
Tai gave him a mock glare. "No one ever said you had to like my music. Deal with it."
Matt just shook his head, a tiny smile playing with the corners of his lips. He stood and began to hunt for his rather rumpled clothes. "We'd better get dressed before your mum really does come snooping in here."
The brown haired teen nodded and pulled on his clothes as well before opening the window and turning on the overhead fan in an effort to get rid of the pungent sent of sex that still lingered in the room.
He sighed as he turned back towards Matt, unsure of what to do now that they had stepped over this line in there relationship. They had slept together, but that didn't mean that Matt wanted this to go any deeper then a good lay.
"Matt-" he began and at the same time the other boy had begun with "Tai-" The both stopped and waited for the other to speak. Finally Tai hung his head and decided to just take the plunge. "What does this all mean? I know we've slept together and that in itself means something, but how do you really feel about the two of us?"
He looked up in time to see the blondes face flush as he became rather flustered. "Well... this was rather nice, but that's not exactly what I want... If you'll have me I'd like to be more then just your friend and occasional lay-that is, if you'll have me. I mean, I'm not exac-"
He was broke off as a kiss abruptly interrupted anything else he was about to say. Tai had thrown himself at his now and forever love, showing him with actions and not words what he felt. there was no doubt in either's minds.
And as things would have it, neither boys were forced into consuming that poison Mrs. Yagami called meatloaf.

Shade: Done!! I finished it finaly! And after only a month of writers block... Anyway, be kind, this is my first lemon. This was inspired from personal experience (to an extent) I have a quirk about people stepping into my personal space. As DS can attest.

Shade: *rolls eyes* Sure, sure. Just don't get too close. This fic is dedicated to you, after all. You were the inspiration.

DS: But you're so cuddly.
Shade: *rolls eyes* Sure, sure. Just don't get too close. This fic is dedicated to you, after all. You were the inspiration.
