Rain, Movies, and Such

Sora sat by her window looking out as the rain slowly poured down. She watched as her mother ran to their car and left for work. She sighed and rolled over off of the seat and walked to her bed. She collapsed and looked up at the ceiling.

`Well…what now?' She thought to herself.

The house chores were already done the night before, when her mother had left for a late shift again. So now she was completely bored, with absolutely nothing to do.

A beep from her small portable mailer <the one from the movie>; caught her attention.

She groaned. `Why did I have to put it on my dresser?' She thought as she got up and grabbed her messenger. She popped it open and clicked on the `new message' sign.

`Hey Sora;
What's up?
-Tai'

Sora took back her position on the bed as she replied.

`Absolutely nothing. Why, what's going on?'

There was a moments silence before she got a return message.

`Matt got invited to some party, and he's inviting us.
Wanna go?'

Sora thought about it, then looked out the window. The rain was coming down harder, and it didn't look like it was going to let up any time soon.

Another beep signaled a new message.

`I know the weather sucks,
But, there's supposedly going to be cokes
and scary movies.'

Sora smiled. He really knew how to pitch a sell.

`Alright, I'm in. Where's it gonna be at?'

~*~*~*~*

It turned out to not be that far from her apartment and after calling to get permission from her mother, Sora arrived at the apartment. Soaking wet from the rain, though. Tai was already there, wearing blue jeans, Nikes, a white shirt, and a blue sweat jacket. He smirked at her soaked red threaded jacket, drenched blue jeans, and wet hair. She wasn't so amused.

“What's got you so darn happy?” She asked while walking into the warm, somewhat dry apartment.

“You; looking ridicules. Haven't you heard of a taxi?” He asked while she tried to warm herself.

She gave him a `c'mon' kind of face. “Haven't you heard of not having money to pay for the taxi?” She shot back.

Tai nodded, letting her win the little fight. Matt came up behind Tai, with some girl clinging to his arm.

“Hey, Sora,” He said before lowering to a pleading voice. “Please help me out with this girl.”

The girl that held onto him didn't seem to notice him talking; she was too busy making sure her friends saw her with him.

“Who is she?” Sora asked, just as quietly as he had.

Tai took a glance at the girl's turned head, and then looked back at Matt.

“Hey, isn't that girl from one of your fan clubs?” Tai asked him.

Matt seemed to cringe. “Yeah, this is the president; or so she says. C'mon, help me out here!”

Tai gave an exasperated sigh. “Ah; the drawbacks of being a star, having pretty girls hanging all over you.”

Matt gave him a short glare that showed he wasn't helping.

Sora looked around. “Is Mimi here?”

Matt sighed. “Yeah, I already tried asking her; but she was too busy talking to some guy.” A little hint of jealousy was in his voice.

The girl finally turned her attention back to them. “Oh, hi! Who are you?” She eyed Sora as if she were competition; but looked at Tai as if he were eye candy.

“Um, I'm Sora.”

“And, I'm Tai.”

“Yeah, there're my friends.” Matt added.

The young girl pursed her lips before someone called out her name, causing her to turn away.

Once she did, Matt mouthed, `Are you gonna help me or what?!' Tai and Sora both raised their arms in a way of saying, `what do you want us to do?!' Matt's face fell before smacking his forehead. Sora spotted Mimi and called her over.

“Hey Sora! I didn't think you'd make it!” Mimi greeted when she walked over.

“Yeah, well…” Sora trailed off when Mimi started to stare at her appearance.

“What'd you do; walk here?” Mimi asked.

Tai started to snicker, and Sora pushed him to shut up. “Yeah. Anyways; hey, do you think you could help Matt out here?”

The girl pulled Matt to turn another way to have a surprise snap shot. The girl started to giggle with her friend while Matt turned back to the others, blinking out the flash.

“Man, I'm never going to get used to that stupid flash.” He muttered.

“What does he need help with?” Mimi asked Sora as if Matt couldn't hear which he definitely could. “Looks like he's got everything under control.”

Sora cringed at her tone of voice. “Um…could you just pull him away from the crazed girl fans? Even Tai would get tired of that.”

Tai nodded then stopped and looked at Sora. “Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!”

Both Mimi and Sora rolled their eyes. “Oh, fine, I'll do it!” Mimi handed Sora her cup of coke and grabbed Matt's other arm. “C'mon Matt, we're gonna go over here for a bit.” She easily pulled him out of the other girl's grasp and surprisingly, the girl didn't try to stop her. They walked over to the other side of the apartment where the huge speakers were pouring out music.

Sora and Tai stared after them until the crowd blocked them from view.

“C'mon, let's get something to drink.” Tai offered.

“Yeah, `cause a cup with just ice isn't going to do it.” Sora said, before a shiver passed through her.

Tai noticed the shiver. “You alright?” he asked.

Yeah, just cold.” Sora answered as he led her to the ice chests.

They grabbed a seat at the sofa as a couple stood up to make their leave.

Sora sighed. “Nice and warm; thank you people who just left.” She said with her eyes closed.

Tai laughed at her silent thanks before sipping some of his coke.
~*~*~*~*
It's been about an hour or two, and the crowd has some what died down.

Sora stretched out on the couch. “I think this party has pretty much died.”

“Yeah, ever since Matt disappeared, a lot of the girls left.” Tai leaned his head back, trying to get every last drop from the cup.

Sora sighed and looked around. There were only a few couples left and what they were doing only consisted of two people. Tai put down his empty cup and looked at Sora.

“You want to call it a night?” He asked.

Sora put down her cup as well. “From here, yeah. You still owe me a viewing of a scary movie.”

“Ah, yes. The scary movie…you want to rent one instead, because right now these people are being a drag.”

Sora smiled and stood up. “Yeah, let's get going then. We'll watch it at my place.”

Tai stood up as well and stretched. “Sounds good to me.”

A guy with blonde hair and a ruffled gray shirt came up to them as they zipped up their jackets. “Hey, do you guys know where Mimi disappeared to?”

They looked at each other and shrugged. “Last time I saw her, she was with Matt.” Tai answered.

The dude groaned. “Oh man! That's what I was afraid of!”

Sora looked at him, confused. “What do you mean?”

“That dude, Matt was all she was talking about when we were hanging out.” He sighed then walked away.

Tai looked at Sora with his eyebrows raised. Sora opened her mouth about to ask what he was thinking, when it hit her. “No…you don't think they actually left together…do you?” Tai shrugged and they walked out into the hall.

Tai walked over to the elevator and saw that it was stuck on the twelfth floor. He groaned. “Its gonna take forever to come back down!”

Sora laughed at his pouting face and said brightly, “C'mon, we're only on the second floor. We'll take the stairs.” She led the way to the stair well. Tai had no choice but to follow. Once they walked into the stairwell they saw Mimi and Matt quickly pull away from each other. The four all froze, Mimi and Matt both had on a guilty expression, and they both seemed to be blushing.

“Uh, hey guys. What're you doing in here?” Tai asked in an innocent enough voice, though to Sora he gave a knowing smirk. Sora rolled her eyes and decided not to give the two a hard time.

“We're gonna go back to my place and watch some scary movies, you two want to come?” Sora asked.

Matt recovered quickly and shrugged. “Yeah, why not?”

Mimi then nodded. “It's better than staying at a dead party.” Matt glanced at her for a moment, and then quickly looked away. This didn't go unnoticed to the other two. “Alright, well um….we're going right now, so if you guys have anything-“

“Actually, we already have everything.” Matt cut in before Sora could finish.

“Really?” Tai said with a wide smile.

Sora elbowed him in the rib and led everyone down the stairs.

The rain was still pouring, Tai, Matt, and Sora flipped their hoods over. Mimi zipped up her rain jacket and opened up a pink umbrella. They made their way to the corner video stop and rented a few thrillers and horrors. And, since no one could talk Mimi out of it, one chick flick.

~*~*~*~*Back at Sora's Apartment~*~*~*

Everyone was curled around the couch in front of the television set. Sora pulled out some blankets and turned out the lights before playing the first movie: The Ring.

It had started out with Sora and Mimi on the couch and Tai and Matt on the floor. The girls shared a blanket as the guys used theirs as pillows, leaning their heads on the couch. Just when the woman was about to watch the video tape, Mimi whispered fiercely, “Lower the volume!”

Sora jumped at the sound of someone beside her. The words sinking in as her eyes stayed glued to the television, she fumbled around for the remote. Mimi curled up in her little corner, bringing her hands to her eyes. “Sora, lower the volume!” She squeaked.

“Hold one darn minute!” Sora said as she felt for the remote. Her hand moved under Tai's `pillow' knocking it from under his head. With a thump, his head met the edge of the sofa. “Ow!” He let out as he lifted his head and rubbed the abused spot.

“Some of us are trying to watch the movie here.” Matt said as he kept his gaze on the screen.

“Yeah, me,” Tai said as he turned an annoyed look at Sora.

Sora however didn't see it as Mimi kicked her in the ribs when the television suddenly burst into sound.

“Ow! Mimi!” Sora exclaimed and as a reflex, pushed her away. Mimi let out an `eep' as she rolled off of the couch landing on Matt.

“Hey!” Matt said as she fell on top of him.

Sora kept in a laugh. “Whoops! Sorry Mimi.” Her attention was quickly brought back to the screen. Mimi froze in Matt's lap; her gaze also on the screen. She shivered at the suspense of the scene, causing Matt to feel a bit uncomfortable.

For the rest of the movie nobody moved an inch; that is, except for Mimi who got in a more comfortable position on Matt's lap.

~End of movie~

The telephone rang, making everyone freeze.

Sora was the first to move, considering it was her phone. “You guys need to calm down; it was only a movie.” She said as she walked to the kitchen, trying to ignore the fact that she had been scared for a moment as well. Tai, however, didn't ignore it. “Whatever, Sora; you were scared also.” He said as he stood up and stretched.

Sora answered the phone instead of him. When she walked back to the living room, she saw that Tai had taken over the couch. AKA, the place she had been occupying moments before. She placed her hands on her hips.

“Tai, what do you think you're doing?”

“Hanging out. Why; is that illegal now?” He asked playfully.

“No. You're just hanging out in my spot.” She stood by the couch. “Now move.”

Tai rolled over onto his back and looked up at her. “Why?”

“Because I said so, that's why.” Sora said, annoyed.

Tai rolled his eyes. “That's not a reason and you know it.”

Sora became impatient. “Just move!”

Tai smirked. “No!”

As the argument grew, Mimi and Matt just watched in amusement.

“You know what; fine!” Sora just jumped onto the couch, not caring if she landed on Tai or not.

“What are you doing?!” Tai's muffled voice questioned as he tried to breathe and get her off of him.

“You wouldn't move, so we'll both be here!” Sora said as easily as she could. Tai squirmed under her so that soon they were both scrunched on the couch.

“Get off!” Tai said as he tried to push her away.

“No, you get off!” She said as she pushed him towards the edge.

Tai grabbed her hands and used them to hold her back. What he didn't expect was that she pulled him with her, bringing their faces so close that their noses nearly touched. Tai held his breath as he stared at Sora. She stared at him for a moment, before a smirk crossed her lips. She quickly pushed him away while he was off guard, making him roll right off of the couch.

Matt and Mimi had quickly moved out of the way before Tai could fall on top of them. Matt hadn't really minded Mimi; but Tai falling on him just didn't go.

Sora looked over the edge at Tai as he sat up. She smiled when their gazes locked. “I told you to move, didn't I?” She said with a playful smile. Tai's face held much confusion as thoughts raced inside his head.
`What was that? Was I about to kiss her? No! She's my friend! She wasn't thinking that…was she? Of course she wasn't. Would I have kissed her…no!...That'd be nice though-ah! Stop thinking like that!'

While, Sora's thoughts weren't that much different. `Was I about to kiss him? No way! We're just friends! He wasn't going to…was he? Would I've kissed him back? Heck yea-but…agh! This is too confusing! Just stop thinking about it!'

Mimi tilted her head at the two, but spoke to Tai. “You alright, Tai; you didn't hit your head again did you?”

Tai shook his head. “No, and I don't remember hitting it a first time either!” He replied defensively.

Matt put on a different movie and sat down. “That's because it happened when you were born.”

Tai was about to argue, but the movie started to play. He decided to let that slide and became brave by sitting down on the couch again. Only this time, he let Sora take as much room as she wanted, while he only took a corner. During the previews Sora turned to him, “C'mon Tai, don't make me feel guilty. Here,” She handed him a blanket. “Use it.”

Tai took it and got more comfortable by slouching a bit. Sora laid her legs on his lap as she lay on the couch watching the television. The two didn't really pay attention to the movie, though. They were too busy thinking about the other and what could've happened if Sora hadn't pushed him away. The thoughts were somewhere along the lines of, `Why did I have to push him away?! He probably thinks…I don't know what he thinks!' and `Why'd she push me away? Dude, don't go in there! I said no! The killer's in there! What are you, blind?' Okay, so maybe one was paying attention to the movie.

They had watched most of the movies and had decided that it was time to start heading home. Matt, Mimi, and Tai all gathered their things and started to head to the door.

“Sora, give me a call sometime so that we can get together. You know, without the guys!” Mimi said as she exited the apartment.

“Yeah, I'll do that.” Sora called to her.

Matt then said his goodbye before leaving to catch up to the other girl. (Other girl being Mimi, c'mon people!)

Sora stopped at the door where Tai had also stopped. He turned and said, “Well, after you call and get her answering machine, give me a call.” He said in a knowing voice.

Sora smiled. “Why do I have the feeling that I won't even be able to do that?”

Tai smirked and was about to turn to leave, when his thoughts started to swarm around in his head. `You're not going to even try to kiss her?! What are you, an idiot?!' Tai slowly walked down the hall and when he heard the door click closed, something happened.

Sora stood there for a moment, watching him walk down the hall before sighing and slowly closing the door. `Well, I guess I got the answer to my question.' She leaned her head against the door. `He didn't want to kiss me; I was just being a complete idiot.' She smiled. `Well, I'm not a `complete' idiot; that girl in the movie, now there's your complete idiot.'

She was about to go to the living room to clean up when she heard a knock on the door. She instantly froze. `Calm down, man! It was just a stupid scary movie! It's not real!' That thought didn't really help because that was always what the person that would die next in the movie would say. She slowly opened the door, her breath on hold. She nearly fell over with relief when she saw it was Tai standing at her door. `Wait, what's he even doing standing at my door?'

“Tai?” She asked, confused.

He looked a bit nervous, but then determined at the same time. “Um…I forgot something.”

Sora slowly widened the door so that she could stand outside a little bit more. “What'd you forget?”

“Um…” He glanced at the floor for a second, having a moments hesitation but then looked back up with a face full of determination. “This.” He said before stepping forward and capturing her lips in his own.

She was shocked for a moment, but before she could even respond, he pulled away. His cheeks had a pink hinge to them as he looked back to her eyes. “So…um, I'll see you tomorrow.”

Sora gulped. “Um, yeah…yeah, I'll see you.”

Tai slowly turned and started to walk away when Sora called him back. “Hey, Tai?”

He turned. “Yeah?”

She hesitantly pulled him closer, and this time she gave him a long kiss that they both participated in.

Yeah, and that would be

The End.
