Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Remembering To Burn ❯ EPILOGUE ( Chapter 7 )
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon. Toei does. Certain ideas in this fic inspired by the Empress of the Eclipse's "Entrapped"
A/N: Yes it's still short and confusing. It's just a few hints of where this road will take us.

"It's a good thing that Daisuke's still unfeasibly lucky." Gennai spoke even before his visitor appeared. "I didn't think he was going to get out of that one alive."
"I know." Ryo's ghost said softly. "But something about this situation still scares me. Something is going on and I don't know what. I think it has something to do with the Child of Light."
"Probably, she has the most extraordinary potential but unless we know what the dark is planning we can't do anything…" He trailed off. "Or maybe I do know." He frowned. "I hope I'm wrong. I hope that path becomes the possible future that never was but the Child of Fate tells me that the future is in a flux right now and she's very much afraid that we may be about to be cast down the most dangerous path of all." He paused. "Of course she seems just a touch pleased about that even as she worries about it. She says that its dangers are outstripped only by its potential rewards."
"Which is the worst thing of all because it makes the danger so very tempting." Ryo sighed. "Did I imagine it or did I feel something happen to Ken and Daisuke's memory block?"
"They broke it. Neither remembers everything, or even most of it, yet but they will. It's only a matter of time. Not that it matters now. The block was only for their protection and was never supposed to be permanent. Still it was unexpected." He frowned, obviously preoccupied. "Their memories may even help them. Certainly since they have to deal with Millenniumon's Chosen again." He cursed fluently. "How did those damned kids get back in again? The barrier should have kept them out."

Black Gatomon stood before the throne of the one that called himself her master and bowed. "I led them to safety as you ordered, my Lord. It was difficult but I found my way the caves somehow." She knew that he already knew that of course, since she wouldn't be here if she had failed, but protocol was important.
The digimon who sat on the throne was completely in shadow but she could sense his smile. "Very good, my loyal little one." He said and she feigned basking in his praise. She hated him with a passion but he must never suspect the truth of her mission until it was too late. "Tell me, what are your impressions of the Child of Light."
"She's everything that you said she would be. Everything the Child of Light should be. She's good, kind and forgiving. Her light burns brightly, very brightly." She told him.
"Perfect." He purred. "We shall put the plan into action this very night."
"As you wish, My Lord." She bowed again and left his presence. {Dark queen and mother, what should I do?} She half thought, half prayed. {Should I carry out his wishes knowing how it may strengthen him?}
{Precious daughter.} Came the faint reply. {I don't see that you have much choice. Your mission for me is too important to jeopardise. Sabotage his plans if you can but do not risk your position in his favour.}
