Digimon Fan Fiction ❯ Return of the Kaiser ❯ Blast from the Past ( Chapter 12 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon or any of the characters associated with it. The muses and the storyline are mine.
Kagome: *Yawning* All right, people. I'm going to get this out today because I'm nice that way, but I'm tired, so if this chapter is bad, blame it on a sleepless night.
Raven: *snorts* More like a sleepless 60 hours or so.
Nathaniel: You really ought to get more sleep that that, Kagome. Otherwise, you get too tired.
Kagome: I know, but I had this idea and I just had to finish it. You know how I am. Both of you do.
Nathaniel: *sigh* Yeah, we know.
Raven: *sigh* We do indeed know.
Kagome: *rolls eyes* All righty then, let's begin with the newest chapter. Enjoy!
Chapter Twelve: Blast from the Past
Once again all the Digidestined were assembled in the Kaiser's base, this time at the aforementioned one's invitation. Their enemy had taken the bait, and the battle was set for the next day at 2:00 in the torture chamber of a neutral base.
Ken couldn't believe how easily and how quickly Daisuke had accepted the challenge. Of course, it wasn't really Daisuke, the bluenette had to keep reminding himself, but an imposter with Dai's body.
He had informed the others of this recent development, and now they were planning the best way to go about it. Yamato was present; since he was to be the "prize", he had a right to be involved. Daisuke, in the Alimon's body, was there as well, curled up in Yamato's arms, blinking lazily at them.
The other Chosen had adapted rather quickly to his new appearance, and now spoke to him as they would have spoken to the human Daisuke. Yet, even now, they had their suspicions that he was withholding information from them; which he was, but he wasn't about to tell them that.
"So, let's try this again," Koushiro began. "What you're saying is that we can't be there, or else he'll be suspicious, and our digimon can't be there, or else he'll make them part of the bargain as well, and your D3's and D-terminals will be deactivated so we can't reach you via e-mail, and we're just supposed to accept that we can't do anything to help you?"
Ken shrugged and nodded. "Yeah, that's pretty much everything." The others just glared daggers at him. Surprisingly, it was Jyou who spoke up.
"I think I see where you're coming from," he stated slowly, choosing his words carefully, "but perhaps there is something else we can do to help?" Ken just looked at him, finally prompting, "Such as?"
Jyou and Koushiro exchanged glances, and the redhead widened his eyes in surprise and realization. "Such as," he began, "making sure that the digimon he's sure to bring with him are distracted long enough for the battle to occur."
The other Chosen just looked at him and Jyou, bewildered. Recovering, the Kaiser nodded. "That may be just what we need," he approved. The Digidestined smiled at him and nodded, rising to leave now that the important details were taken care of. They all promised to arrive about an hour before the battle to take care of last-minute problems and to lend their support.
After they had left, being sure to pet Daisuke or leave a word of encouragement for him, the Kaiser slumped back in his throne. Immediately, Taichi walked over to him, picked him up, sat down on the throne, and set Ken firmly in his lap. The younger boy squirmed around until he was comfortable, then settled down in Tai's embrace.
Yamato moved over towards them, Daisuke still in his arms. Then he bowed to them. "I thank you for the aid you are offering to both myself and my koibito," he murmured softly.
The other two stared at him in surprise, not understanding where this new formality came from. Then they caught sight of Alimon's smirk, and realized he had been controlling him. Which was proven further when Yamato glared at him and promptly dropped him to the floor, where he lay giggling softly.
Yamato just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Are you that bored?" he asked, amused. "Is controlling me via dark ring your idea of entertainment?" At that, Daisuke immediately sobered up and looked apologetically at Yamato. "I'm sorry," he said softly.
Ken and his boyfriend looked between the two boys, wondering what was going on. Dai caught their look and just shook his head. "Yamato can explain if he wants to," he stated brusquely, trotting out the door.
The boys looked at the blonde, who sighed and sat down cross-legged in front of the throne. "When he first ringed me, the other being had not yet taken possession of his body. He put the dark ring on me and gave me orders, which I had no choice but to obey. Sometimes he would be able to control my very words and actions just by thinking at me."
"This continued for about a month, until he hurt me. Since I couldn't disobey him anywhere, I did everything he wanted me to, including in the bedroom. He was into bondage and things at the time. One night, he-he-he," Yamato stammered, trying to force the words past his constricting throat.
Ken slid off Taichi's lap, and the two friends hugged him, holding him safe between them and letting his calm down until he was ready to talk again. Feeling safer in their embrace, he continued, "He cut me up. It was terrible. I could feel the pain, but I couldn't scream, because he wouldn't let me. When he was done, he fell asleep on top of me. I was so scared; I was afraid that he might wake up and continue with the torture."
"When I woke up the next morning, I was untied and Dai-chan was gone. I panicked, terrified that something had happened to him, even after what he had done to me. I found a note, with an apology and a promise that he'd never hurt me again………he'd make sure of it."
"I thought he was going to kill himself, and I froze, not knowing what to do. When I could finally move, I ran and ran and ran; I ran for hours and found no sign of Dai. Eventually, it occurred to me that he may have gone to the Digital World, so I went there."
"That was where I found him, trapped in an Alimon's body, while his body was being used as a weapon to control the Digital World. He told me that I should warn you guys, but not give too much away. I met up with you guys, and you know the rest."
Finished at last, he sighed and went still, waiting for the other two to absorb all this information. The paler boy was the first to speak. "Dai did that?" he hissed softly, still finding it hard to believe. The bearer of Friendship just nodded, remaining silent.
Taichi shook his head. "Damn," he said, "I would've never thought him capable of that. Although the self-sacrifice doesn't surprise me," he added, almost as an afterthought. The other two blinked at him, and he smirked. "Daisuke is incredibly selfless," he pointed out. "After all, he was the first to forgive and befriend Ken even though he had been humiliated the most by him. He allowed the dark spore to grow to save his family. He allowed himself to be separated from his body to avoid harming Yamato again. He's risked his life and his honor for us time and time again. He's never once done a selfish thing where his friends or family were concerned."
The others nodded, impressed at the insight evident in Taichi's words. It was true, Daisuke was incredibly selfless, and always had been. They'd just never noticed it so obviously as they did now. They had all taken his courage and friendship for granted, not realizing just how selfless the boy would have to be, to be able to bear both crests and live up to them.
Sighing, Yamato shook himself out of his thoughts and stood. "I'd better go find Daisuke and comfort him," he stated. "Tomorrow's going to put a lot of strain on the poor guy." The other two nodded, and bid him farewell, then resumed planning for tomorrow's battle.
Kagome: Well? What do you all think. Huh huh huh? Well? Huh huh huh? Huh?
Nathaniel: I think you guys are making poor Kagome a bit nervous. *sweatdrops*
Raven: *snarls* Read and review people. Quit stressing her out like this. When she gets stressed, we get stressed. She's getting the entire story out in less than a week! And the first day she posted is the first day she started writing the story. She didn't wait to have it completed before posting. She's risking a lot here! The least y'all can do is review! *begins to hyperventilate*
Kagome: Raven, that's enough. *turns to audience* I'm terribly sorry. She's very protective of me sometimes, and when she gets like this, I can't stop her. Nathaniel, you take over. *begins comforting Raven*
Nathaniel: All right. Read and review please. We appreciate it, we really do.
