A.N: Wee. Yay. Fun. Read. Oh, and I'm sorry but I have to say this: I take it as an insult if you review me saying that the chapter was 'interesting'. Why? Because it just sounds kinda snooty. If you don't like the chapter/story then tell me. I'm not /that/ breakable. I'd rather have you be straight out instead of telling me that the chapter was 'interesting'. Do you KNOW how annoying and frustrating that is?

Satan in Satin
Chapter Nine
By Firefly-chan (SaturnsFirefly)
The next morning (or night as Yamato so faithfully called it) the three vampires were up much before Daisuke was. The cinnamon haired boy stared blankly at the tiled ceiling above him as he lay on the soft mattress, his head sunk into the feather pillow. He wondered how he got in the bed since he only remembered falling asleep and then his memory went blank. Shrugging, he pushed the memory aside and turned his head, looking out the window. Yamato wasn't lying when he said it was going to remain dark. The skies outside were still as black as night with hardly any stars speckled upon the heavens. He should have been suspecting it though. A lot of strange things such as these had been happening lately and they all seemed to be tied in with the 'prophecy' that the vampires spoke of.
Sighing, Daisuke propped himself on his elbows, the blood rushing to his head as he did so and he grumbled softly at the ache his head was causing him. The house was deathly quiet, or so it sounded from the bedroom. He went completely still for a moment, not even breathing as he strained to hear any noise at all but found that there was none as he suspected. Yet another strange thing. He would have thought Yamato, Takeru and Taichi would have been doing something that contained the essence of sound. He blinked, puzzled. Well, he wasn't going to find out until he actually got *out* from the bed.
All though his muscles groaned in protest, the boy managed to scramble from the bed and out the bedroom door. The hall was dark but his eyes were well adjusted and use to it so he managed to find his way through it without killing himself. He stopped at the end of the hall, placing a hand on the corner of the wall. He could hear voices now. They were faint and sounded like they might've been whispering. Daisuke figured it was Yamato and the other two but he wanted to be sure. He swung his head around, trying to find where the voices were located as they seemed to be coming from all around him. Finally, after a couple of minutes, he found the where the source of the voices were coming from...the kitchen.
Daisuke carefully pressed himself against the wall, peeking his head around the corner, eyes searching the dimly lit kitchen. They rested on Yamato, Taichi, Takeru and some other boy Daisuke wasn't familiar with. He had blue hair spiked straight up, a pair of blue sunglasses and a goofy smile to go with it. Yamato, all though, seemed to be stressed out. He kept running a hand through his tousled blond hair and shaking his head back and forth, saying something Daisuke couldn't understand. The cinnamon haired boy surveyed him silently, noting that he wore a pair of very baggy black pants and a white tee shirt. Takeru and Taichi clothes resembled their companions quite a bit, only they were in different colors.
Pulling himself from clothes-related thoughts, Daisuke tried to concentrate on what they were saying, holding himself still so he wouldn't be heard. After a moment they finally began to speak up.
"But that's impossible..." Yamato was saying in a hushed whisper. "I thought he was it; it doesn't make sense..."
"That's what they told me, Matt." The blue haired boy said, his grin fading into a soft smile. "That's what the noble vampires told me to tell you...you were wrong."
"But we can't afford that." Takeru protested, gripping at the table. "We can't afford to lose that kind of power." He bit his lip. "Once we find the sword then it's all over...we can't do that."
"You'll have to." The blue haired boy stretched his arms into the air, yawning. "You'll have to if you want to prevent it from happening again." He scratched the back of his head. "It's in the noble vampires' scribes, Takeru. You can't change that."
Taichi, who had been considerably quiet spoke up, "But what if the scribes are wrong...?"
"The scribes are never wrong." The other snapped hurriedly. "Listen, you guys, if your smart you'll find the sword before the noble vampires find you...then you have to complete it. It's the only way...." He stopped, glancing over towards where Daisuke hid before turning back to the other vampires and lowering his voice.
Daisuke drew out a long breath, now only able to hear muffled murmurs...nothing he could possibly interpret. Frowning, he made his way back towards the bedroom, wondering what the hell that was all about. It disturbed him if not freaked him out as well. Why would they be talking about an anonymous sword and preventing something from happening? He shivered and crawled back into the bed, pulling up the covers to his chin and after dismissing his thoughts, fell back into a restless sleep.
********
Daisuke grumbled, batting away furiously at the hand that was shaking him softly. He heard someone let out a soft sigh before yanking on his arm and pulling him foreword. The cinnamon haired boy let out a little whimper, rubbing his hands over his eyes and containing a yawn. He blinked the sleep haze from his eyes, squinting at the annoyance that had awakened him.
"What?" He mumbled at the grinning blond before him. "I don't want to get up."
"I don't care what you want." Yamato said, sitting up from the bed. "You can sleep in the car...we're leaving."
"Again?" The boy half muttered-half whined, sliding from the bed and dragging a pillow and a blanket along with him.
"Yes, again." The vampire ran a hand through his hair, turning away from the other. "We only came here for rest; we need to travel to Sendai, or what's left of it, because I have a few people there that I need to talk to."
Daisuke gazed blankly at him for a moment before coming to his senses. "Wait...what do you mean 'what's left of it'? Shouldn't Sendai still be there?"
"God, Daisuke. Don't tell me I have to explain this to you again." The blond turned and faced him, scowling. "I told you already, we have destroyed or killed everyone in Japan. No one is left. Just creatures of the damned. Don't you understand that?"
"I didn't know you were spreading chaos throughout all of Japan." Daisuke gawked, eyes wide. "I didn't think..."
"Yeah, well, you don't do much of that do you?" Yamato growled, eyes narrowed pointedly. "Come on. Let's go." He stood next to the doorframe, indicating that Daisuke should exit before him.
Obediently, he did, walking stiffly past the vampire as he passed. He heard Yamato's quiet steps behind him and the boy spoke again, "Who was that guy you were talking to?"
He wasn't sure if his steps or faltered or not as a door opened, rather loudly, and someone came in. Yamato answered smoothly, not a hint of emotion gathered in his voice, "What do you mean? What guy?"
"You know what guy, Yamato." Daisuke pushed open the front door to the house and stepped out into the cold, dark air.
There was a long pause and the blond vampire came up beside him, brushing past him coldly. "It's none of your concern, Dai." Without another word he got into the Jeep, Daisuke wincing as he slammed the car door in the process. With a small sigh of distress, the boy did the same, leaning against the cool glass of the window and staring off into the darkness.
He must've dozed off because he started with a jerk when the car came to a fast halt. Daisuke inwardly let out a string of curses when his head bumped harshly against the windowpane. Rubbing his head, he glanced over at Yamato who was looking out the window intently. Sighing, he did the same, what he saw surprised him if not shocked him.
It was two tall buildings that had been knocked over so they crashed together and created an ark of entrance. He heard Taichi speak from the backseat, "Yamato," He started carefully, "I thought they destroyed Sendai....not mutilate it."
"Obviously they changed their minds." Yamato started the car again, heading under the ark.
It was even darker beneath the ark, and debris and such fell all around them and on top of the car. But none of it was heavy so it didn't damage or dent anything. After what seemed like forever they finally exited the ark, coming upon the ruins and changes of Sendai.
The city had been completely rearranged and parts of it were destroyed. Buildings had been stacked on one another and structures he didn't even know existed scattered the city. Debris of ruined buildings littered the street, and the only way you could see was by the bright street lamps that marked the ends of the pavement.
"Takeru," Yamato glanced towards the back seat. "Takeru, do you have the directions to Koushiro's place?"
"Yeah, just a second." There was some rustling in the back before Takeru's head popped up from the back, a slip of paper between two of his fingers. "Here."
"Thanks." He took the paper from his brother, and with eyes still on the road he unfolded it and glanced down shortly. "Oh."
It wasn't the kind of oh that went, "Oh, shit, I took a wrong turn." or the kind of oh that said, "Oh, were almost there." It was just a simple, monotone oh.
He turned the car left, jerking Daisuke to the side again. Before the boy could process what was going they had pulled into a long, dark driveway that belonged to a small, dark blue house. Daisuke was still studying the house with curious suspicious as Yamato parked the car and pulled the keys from the engine. He didn't get out until he saw the blond eyeing him coldly in a signal to remove himself from the car first.
He followed up behind Yamato, Taichi and Takeru behind him. The house was dark when the entered, only a dimly shining light guided their way through the halls and into a what appeared to be a large living room. At the end of the room sat a boy, a laptop calmly rested on his lap as he typed. The couch he was sitting on had a dark red dragon running over the front of it and the rest of the furniture resembled the style of the couch.
He didn't look up when they approached him, stopping only a few yards from where he sat. He sighed warily though, eyes not moving from the computer screen and greeted, "Yamato, Taichi, Takeru," he glanced at Daisuke, "and you." He gestured to the couch across from him. "Please, take a seat."
They did so, and in the process Daisuke felt something being pressed into the palm of his hand from Yamato. The boy blinked, glancing at the taller boy but the other was avoiding his gaze. The cinnamon haired boy looked down, opening the palm of his hand and found a pendant. It looked very old but held an upside down cross with a crystal snake coiled around it.
Yamato leaned over to him, murmuring softly, "Keep it close to you. It bears your mark as a belonging to the vampire clan...it's to keep you from harm."
Daisuke nodded slightly, pushing it into his pocket before turning his attention to Koushiro whom was putting his laptop away. He finally turned back to them, the corners of his mouth edging into a smile. "So, what you have you come here for, Yamato?"
Yamato shifted his weight on the couch, tossing his head to brush the locks of fallen hair that had found it's way in front of his eyes. "We're here to discuss my future, Koushiro." He said coldly. "To discuss the Sword of Salvation."
The other stared blankly at him. "Why...why would we want to?"
"Because it has to be done." Out of the corner of Daisukes' eye, he saw Yamato's jaw tense. "If you want our world to be safe then we have to destroy the antichrist, and the only way that can be done is with the sword." He paused. "And since you obviously know where it was I was hoping you would tell me."
"Wait," Daisuke cut in unwisely. "What do you mean 'your world'?"
"Just what it states." Taichi said coolly, shooting a glare at the younger boy. "We live in a different world from your own. We came to this world from a tear in the shield blocking your dimension from ours."
"Okay." The boy nibbled on his lower lip, thinking. "But why would want to take control of our world when you already have your own?"
Takeru gave him a funny look, shaking his head softly. "What?"
"I mean, what would be the point in it?" Daisuke continued on, oblivious to Takeru's interjection.
"Daisuke," Yamato started slowly, stopping the other. "We're not here to take control over your world...we're here to destroy it."
