Satan in Satin
Chapter Fifteen
By Firefly-chan

"Aw, crap!" Ryo pressed the palms of his hands against Daisuke's shoulders, shaking him lightly. "C'mon, Daisuke! Wake up! If we don't get back to the car soon then the group is going to be looking for us and will start asking questions!"

He patted Daisuke's face a couple of times and, much to his relief, the cinnamon haired boy slowly opened his eyes again. Ryo slid his arm under Daisuke's back, pulling him into a sitting position on the bed. Daisuke blinked a couple of times, resting his gaze on the older boy, before what had happen came flooding back to him.

"Oh, god." Daisuke pushed Ryo away, swallowing. "You can't ask me of that, Ryo. I can't...kill--kill Yamato!"

Ryo sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. "It's the world or him, Daisuke. Which are you going to choose?"

"Don't do this to me!" The brown-eyed boy stood up sharply, glaring down at the other on the bed. "I can't kill someone!"

"He's a fucking vampire, Motomiya!" Ryo's voice raised reasonably and he stood up as well, facing the other. "Stop being so damned selfish!"

"I'm not being selfish!" Daisuke shot back, although his tone had softened a bit. He sank back on the bed, staring blankly at the carpeted floor beneath him. "I'm not."

Ryo was silent for many moments, gazing apathetically at the boy before him. He closed his eyes, biting down on his lip and turned away. "Why is it, Daisuke, that you want something that is only worse for you?"

The words pounded into his head like a pile of bricks, causing Daisuke to look up sharply, his eyes meeting the others. He opened his mouth as if to say something but then quickly closed it again. Ryo looked at him expectantly, but Daisuke didn't make any mark to reply. The truth was that he really didn't know why.

"I..." Daisuke swallowed, blinking back the tears from his eyes. "I don't know."

The phoenix couldn't be broken. It could be battered and destroyed for all it was worth but its soul could never belong to another. The bird of fire would only perish into the blackened inferno just to emerge from the rubble, reborn. Despite the smoldering hatred emitting from other's, the phoenix would continue on, soaring across the desert, crimson sky with a fiery temperament. It was a solitary figure, owning the rest of the world with it's stumbling grace and emotion.

Or at least that's what Daisuke was in Yamato's eyes. The blonde pushed open the screen door to the house, stepping outside to where everyone else was gathered around the car, looking ready to go. Yamato's cool blue eyes noted that Daisuke and Ryo weren't there yet but his thoughts were cut short as they came out from behind him. He didn't glance back at the two but walked stiffly to the car, opened the door and slid into the driver's seat.

"Finally." Taichi said softly, letting out a long breath of air, climbing into the backseat with Takeru, Kouji, and Ryo. "I thought we'd never leave."

'Figures I have to sit in the front.' Daisuke thought bitterly, staring at the passengers' door before reluctantly getting.

"We're following Psyche's and Sprite's car, Yamato." Taichi said, leaning foreword in his seat and pointing to the small black BMW a few yards away from them. "Got it?"

Yamato nodded silently, digging the keys from his jacket pocket and sliding them into the ignition, starting the car. Psyche started his car next, and headed off the gravel onto the black, cement paved road. Daisuke watched the house disappear in the distance behind him, resting his head against the cool glass of the window. He didn't like being this close to the blonde. It felt like he couldn't breathe.

'You should've left me.' Daisuke thought. 'I don't want to do this. It's wrong. Everything's so wrong.'

He bit down roughly on his bottom lip, drawing a pinpoint of blood. Glancing at the impassive blonde, Daisuke's hand rested on the door handle. He blinked in surprise when Yamato reached over and pushed down the lock to the door. The vampire settled back in his seat, eyes still pointed towards the road ahead of him.

"Don't." Yamato said lightly, coldly.

Daisuke gritted his teeth together, feeling the need to cry stinging the back of his throat. "Why do you care?" He yelled, gripping at his seat. "Why do you care, Yamato?"

Taichi and Takeru, who had been arguing quietly about something, fell silent, looking up towards the front. Yamato didn't bother to answer Daisuke, seemingly shutting him out of his mind. The cinnamon haired boy looked at him intensely for a few more moments before slumping back in his chair, something between a sigh and a sob escaping his lips.

"I hate you." Daisuke whispered, looking down.

"I've noticed." The blonde responded coolly, not an ounce of warmth in his voice.

Anger flared again. "It's just a game to you, isn't it?" Daisuke asked heatedly. "Putting me through this...damned hell is just amusing to you, right? You never cared Yamato! You *never* did! You stupid cold hearted son of a bitch."

"Vampires," Yamato started, glancing over to the younger. "aren't suppose to care."

'Pushing him, Yamato.' Ryo thought, self consciously leaning against Kouji. 'Keep pushing him. He's skimming closer to the edge and when he falls he's going to take you with him.'

"Stop fucking with my head!" Daisuke clutched at his head, seeming desperate. "Stop it! Damn you!"

"I'm not." Came the cool response.

"Yes, you are." The other hissed, gripping at his seat. "Always loved mind games, didn't you?"

Yamato didn't respond.

"You know what?" Daisuke started, voice dangerously low. "I never cared about you. I can't believe why I thought I did. I saw through you the whole time...I don't know why I gave in. You won't let me fall back in, Yamato. Not this time." He paused. "I refuse to."

The blonde still didn't make any reply.

"Silence is it, then?" Daisuke rolled his eyes, sitting back in the chair. "So you just don't say anything in a situation that you can't handle?"

"Shut up." Yamato snapped, annoyance laced into his tone.

"Fuck you." He spat, his already narrowed eyes narrowing even more. "You don't control me anymore, Yamato."

"Shut *up*."

"What're you going to do if I don't?" He taunted, tilting an eyebrow upwards. "Hurt me? Punish me? Go ahead. I really don't give a fuck anymore."

Yamato grit his teeth tightly together, frowning. He wasn't going to let Daisuke get to him like this. He wouldn't.

"I bet you've never felt pain before." Daisuke continued. "You should get around to it sometime. It's like adrenaline once you get use to it. But you're too fucking untouchable to be in pain."

That was it, Daisuke had overstepped his boundary. Yamato slammed on the breaks of the car, twisting around to face the boy sitting next to him. A pale hand went to Daisuke's neck, holding him tightly. "Shut the *fuck* up, Daisuke." Yamato whispered, voice waving slightly. "Or I swear to fucking god I will kill you."

The satisfied smirk on Daisuke's face didn't waver. So Yamato didn't have a point that he could touch and hurt him with. That could be useful. The cinnamon haired boy didn't make any response to Yamato's threat, simply tilted the other eyebrow upwards, as if daring him to continue with it. The blonde vampire tightened his hold on Daisuke's throat for a slight second before pulling away and turning towards the front again.

Ryo eyed Daisuke nervously as Yamato started up the car again. 'Don't tempt him, Daisuke.' Ryo thought, nibbling on his lower lip. 'He just might carry out with the warning.'

Daisuke simply settled back down into his chair, arms folding defiantly across his chest.

'Two, Yamato,' Daisuke thought wryly, 'Two can play at this game.'

End Chapter.

End Notes: O.O;; I'm sorry. That was really short. Shorter then it should be. ;_; I just wanted to get the chapter out. Heh, well, here comes the whole hate-angst-shit thing again. Yay.
