Chapter 7: Alone and Cold"It's so cold!" Michelle complained as she trekked across the frozen tundra with Betamon next to her. Betamon is a frog/lizard sort of creature with a huge red fin on its back. "If we don't find shelter soon I'm going to freeze to death. By the way, why aren't you cold?"Betamon first looked at her with a quizzical look, but then remembered that she was not from the Digital World. "I'm a water/ice type digimon so I don't get cold easily. If you're cold then we can find a cave to light a fire in so you can warm up.""Yeah, That sounds like a good idea." Michelle nodded in agreement. Although she was wearing a sweatshirt it was light and didn't provide much warmth. Plus, she didn't want to be out in the open at night where more of these Digital Monsters might be lurking. This was all very strange to her. One minute she was falling and then she was waking up looking into this little guy's face. He had given her a weird device and said they were partners. It was all too strange even for a dream. "Hey, watch out there is something up ahead lying in the snow. I can't tell what it is." Betamon said extremely alert for a sudden attack from this unknown enemy. It was his duty to protect Michelle no matter what."Oh my God......Brian!" Michelle cried out in shock seeing Brian lying face down in the snow unconscious. She quickly rushed forward to check on him when something popped out of the shadows of the night and struck Michelle hard in the stomach."Halt!" The creature said. "Do not proceed any farther or I will be forced to take military action against you. It is my sworn duty to protect Brian against any threats." To farther prove his seriousness, he jabbed his gun out toward Michelle in warning. "Don't even think about touching Michelle!" Betamon said joining Michelle in the fight. "You're Commandramon, a machine/dinosaur digimon with high tech military gear. What are you doing out here in Ice Region? Are you Brian's partner digimon?"Commandramon looked at him weirdly after that comment. "Are you partnered with this girl?" asked Commandramon realizing that this other digimon was on the same mission he was. "This means that Piximon also gave you a Digivice to give to the first human you met." Commandramon lowered his rifle. "Then we are comrades on the same mission. We should not be fighting Betamon. I am sorry I tried to harm your partner. I thought that you were Hyogamon.""Umm....Betamon? Who is Hyogamon?" Michelle asked not knowing very much about digimon.Betamon turned to Michelle to answer her but Commandramon interrupted "Hyogamon is a ice ogre digimon. He is ruthless and will flatten anyone in his way. We were fighting him before you came here. He said that he was the servant of Samuraimon and that he was ordered to destroy any humans. Hyogamon hit Brian with his ice club, but before he could finish us off I hide Brian and myself in the snow using my camouflage. If all questions are answered I need to get Brian to shelter. He is hurt and cold.""You're right!" Michelle agreed. "We need to get him to a cave or something and start a fire." Nodding in agreement Betamon followed Michelle toward the Mountains. Commandramon picked up Brian on his back and followed in the rear."We are in the Ice Region." Betamon stated gazing ahead toward the Mountains. "Up ahead is the Mountain Region and on the other side is the Forest Region. That is were I saw your friends land after you fell from the sky. We should head toward there is we want to meet up with them.""My radar is picking up the geography off the Mountain Region so we are getting close. We should be there in a matter of hours." Commandramon said breaking the heavy silence that had been over them for the past three hours. "This is very good considering my sensors are also picking up another digimon heading toward us at a fast pace. My sensors say that the digimon is at the champion level." "I bet the digimon is Hyogamon." Betamon replied to Commandramon's data. "We better pick up the pace. We are both at the rookie level so if he catches us than he will be more than a match for us." Realizing what Betamon was saying they picked up the pace.However, about after an hour Commandramon broke the silence again "It's no good. Hyogamon will catch us in about five minutes. Our only choice is to fight him.""You're half right Commandramon." Betamon said getting serious. "What do you mean?" Commandramon asked confused by Betamon's comment."I will have to fight him alone." Betamon replied staring the shocked digimon down. "You said it was your sworn duty to protect Brian right?" Commandramon nodded his head slowly "Then that is what you need do to. You go ahead to Mountain Region and we will catch up with you later.......or at least buy you some time." Then Betamon turned to Michelle. "We are Partners. I can not fight without you. Are you ready to take Hyogamon on?"Michelle was in shock. She was a sixteen year old girl. How could anyone expect her to fight a monster. But on the other hand she had to protect Brian. Zack would never forgive her if she let anything happen to him. "I will fight if I must. Although, I don't know how much help I can be. I just wish everyone could get along and be Peaceful.""Don't worry your more helpful than you think!" Betamon replied. Then Michelle's Digivice started to shine very brightly. "Betamon Digivolve to Seadramon!" After the light faded, instead of Betamon a huge blue sea monster with a yellow face. Michelle looked at the sea dragon with fear, but Seadramon reassured her "Do not worry! I am still Betamon, I just Digivolve using your power to the Champion level. Now I can fight Hyogamon evenly. And just in time too." Seadramon finished up watching as Hyogamon slid down a near snow bank."Stand back Michelle! Things are about to get a little extreme!" Seadramon warned as he flung himself at Hyogamon. However, this proved to be a futile attempt as Hyogamon easily dodged Seadramon. Then took the opportunity to attack seeing Seadramon crash into the snow bank. Hyogamon came down hard on Seadramon's back with his ice club. The blow hurt, but it wasn't enough to keep Seadramon down for long. "Ice Blast!" Seadramon shot out a stream of freezing water that froze on contact with Hyogamon. However, being an ice type the attack barely fazed Hyogamon."Gawr! Ice Pummel!" Hyogamon cried out striking Seadramon in the side. Even at the Champion level, Seadramon was still at a disadvantage. However,with the right strategy that could quickly be reversed."Michelle, you need to get back really far." Seadramon managed to grunt while struggling to keep Hyogamon in his bind. "I'm going to break the ice. I can beat him underwater." And with that Seadramon crashed down on the ice sending cracks running everywhere. "One more should do it!" Once again Seadramon cracked down on the ice, this time causing the ice to shatter. Both of the digimon were sent plummeting toward the ocean floor with one big difference. Seadramon could breathe underwater and Hyogamon could not. Hyogamon started to trash about with renewed intensity. He knew that he would lose if he couldn't get to the surface to breathe. But when Seadramon's hold didn't lessen he fainted from lack of air. Seeing the opening he had been waiting for, Seadramon took aim. "Ice Winder!" The ice shards ripped the unsuspecting Hyogamon apart. Weakened to the limit Hyogamon's Digicore could no longer hold his form and Hyogamon burst into data particles. Seeing his enemy's defeat Seadramon returned to the surface.Seeing Seadramon return to the surface Michelle cried out in joy. "Your save. Thank God, I was so worried about you. We're safe now, right?""Yes, we are safe for now, but we need to catch up with Commandramon before any other of Samuraimon's servants show up. Hop on my back. If you ride on me we can catch up with them faster." Seadramon said still concerned about the danger of the situation. Michelle nodded agreeing with Seadramon and hopped on his back. And with that Seadramon sped forward at a smooth speed in the direction Commandramon headed. "Ha Ha! Commandramon must not have had much faith in us considering how well he covered up his tracks. But it doesn't matter, we will find them at Mountain Region."
