Chapter 2
Day of Doom! Ruki's depressing day

Ruki wearily plopped onto the bed. It's been a long day, Pasarimon, the portal, and facing MarineDevimon. She looked at the calendar. She just turned 12 that day, April 3rd. They would've started school on April 5th, if they wern't sucked in. She glanced at April 4 and her eyes misted over.

"Ruki..." She turned toward the door and saw Takato. Her eyes became normal again.

"Oh, hi Goguru Atama" Ruki said plainly. She thought about what to say next. ".......arigouto......" she said all of the sudden. Takato was stumped, like he was last time she said thank you to him.

"For what?" he asked densely. Ruki chuckled.

"Baka, for helping me out today. You made sure I was safe and......" A hint of a blush came up on Ruki's cheeks. "You saved me when I really needed it....arigouto....." Takato blushed from her comment and scratched his head.

"A-ah... It was nothing Ruki-ch....san" Ruki's eyes narrowed.

"Were you about to call me Ruki-CHAN?!" she demanded. Takato froze.

'Why do I always say the wrong things around her?!' He closed his eyes waiting for her hand or mallet to whack his head. But it never came. He peeked one eye open.

"I'll let you get away with it this time Takato"

Takato sighed with releif. Ruki stood up and started walking out.

"Ei? Ruki? Where are you going?" asked Takato and started following her.

"To take a furo(japanese style bath), do you want to join me or something? You're following me" Ruki said. She mentally smacked herself. 'Why'd I say that?! Baka baka baka!' Takato blushed heavily.

"I-Iie Ruki. I'm gonna go talk with Merodi-san" Takato scooted off. Ruki sighed and opened the door to the furoroom. She started filling the tub.

Renamon silently appeared behind her while she was taking off her shirt. Renamon silently sneaked up on her. This was a training game to see if Ruki could locate Renamon without there telepathic link and without her calling Renamon. Just when Renamon was about to strike, Ruki said: "You're behind me Renamon" Renamon smiled a bit.

"You're getting better, Ruki"

"Arigouto Renamon" said Ruki. She was only in her sports bra and underwear now. "Could you...." Renamon understood and closed her eyes while Ruki used the handheld shower to clean herself off. After a bit, Ruki got up and went into the tub.

"Renamon, why does Takato care about me so much? I thought he liked Juri" Ruki asked. Renamon sighed.

"You're his friend, Ruki. He tries his best to protect his friends no matter what"

"Evan me?" Renamon nodded.

"Evan you, Ruki" Ruki sighed.

"Friend.... that used to be a word of weakness to me. Now I'm not so sure...."

"Ruki, to have friends IS to be strong, I know that" replied Renamon.

"But... what if..." Renamon held a paw up.

"There you go with your doubting. I know you're shook up with what happened today, but Matsuda-san is truly your friend" Ruki sighed again.

"That's only part of the reason I'm doubting Renamon.... Ashita e....(tommorow)" Ruki closed her eyes and Renamon felt a pang of sadness wash over Ruki.

"Ruki..."

"Can you leave me alone Renamon?" she whispered. Renamon dissapeared. "Otou-san...."

"So you're from West Shinjuku?" Merodi asked. Takato nodded. "weird, you came out of a portal and West Shinjuku is only a few miles from here"

"Merodi-chan!" Efuimon bounded into her lap. "Do we have anymore takoyaki!?" Merodi sighed.

"I swear, I'm gonna go broke if I keep buying you takoyaki! But, yes, we do have some" Merodi walked over to the cabinet and got some out. "How much?"

"Enough for me, Guilmon, Renamon, and Culumon!" Merodi sighed.

"Lesse, if we have 50 balls of them.... Geuss I'll have some,too" Merodi turned to Takato. "Want some?"

"I never tried it before, but sure" Takato replied. Ruki came into the room just before Merodi was about to make the takoyaki.

"Save some for me to" Merodi sighed.

"Hai hai" In a few minutes, she had steaming takoyaki balls on a couple of plates. She went over to where the digimon were. She placed down two plates.

"Here you go!" Efuimon was about to dive into it before Merodi stopped her. "No no no, let the others try some first" Efuimon pouted, but let the others try some.

"Ne Merodi, this is really good!" Guilmon said as he gulped down takoyaki.

Merodi placed the other two plates on the table. "Itaidakimasu!" Merodi took a tooth pick, stuck it into on of the balls, and plopped it into her mouth. Takato caustiously took a bite out of it. Ruki giggled. He then plopped it in.

"It's not poison, goguru atama! It just has a little bit of octopus leg inside it with a hint of cooked veggies" Takato turned green right after Ruki said that. He quickly ran to the bathroom.

Ruki started laughing so hard, she clutched her stomach. "Oh my gosh, that goguru atama is so stupid sometimes! He didn't know octopus was in it and he HATES octopus!"

"He's quite funny, I admit. But MY goguru atama, Daisuke, doesn't know left from right"

"Tell me about it" Ruki said sarcastically. Merodi looked at her weirdly.

"You barely know him, Ruki" she stated. Ruki knew her mistake.

"Anou.... Efuimon told me how stupid he can get!" she added a nervous laugh.

Merodi coked an eyebrow. "If I didn't know better, I would be searching in your mind for the answers" Ruki didn't want to slip again.

"How can you search my mind?" Ruki asked like she didn't know.

Merodi looked torwards a paper and closed her eyes. The paper glowed a faint blue, lifted off the ground, and was soon in Merodi's hands.

"Psychic powers" she said cooly.

"Sugoi!" Ruki exclaimed, faking her surprise. "That's so awesome!" Takato came out of the bathroom looking pale, but not green.

"Takato? What's wrong?" Guilmon asked. Takato could only nod weakly.

"I'm going to bed" Merodi said and got up. "Takato and Ruki can have the geust room. There's two beds in there. Oyasuminesai" Efuimon followed her partner into her room.

"Oyasumi" Ruki said. She and Takato walked into the geust room. Ruki got into one bed and Takato got into the other. It was uncomfortable, to be in the same the room without anyone else.

"Oyasumi, Ruki" Takato said tiredly before he drifted off to sleep.

"Oyasumi, Takato" Ruki said back. She couldn't get to sleep for a while, but her eylids got heavier and heavier....

Ruki slepped uneasily that night. Sweat was pouring down her forehead and she twisted and turned in bed.

"Otou-san...." she kept saying.

~Dream Sequence~
She saw an adult man and something in front of him she thought she'd never see again.

"Parasimon..." she whispered.

"Come now, you human, where is the future tamer?!" the Parasimon asked.

"I'm telling you, I don't know!" the man yelled. A little kid peeked behind the adults leg.

"There! Electric Bind!" The attack headed torwards the girl.

"Ruki-chan!" The adult stood in front of the child and took the attack. Blood spilled evreywhere.

"OTOU-SAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Ruki screamed.
~End dream sequence~
"Otou-san!!!!!!!!" Ruki screamed. That woke up the whole Yagami apartment.

"Ruki, what's wrong?!" Takato asked with worry clearly in his tone. Merodi entered the room wth just a blue bathrobe on, Hikari after her, and then Taichi.

"Ruki, what's wrong?" Ruki was panting heavily. She then brought her hand up and clutched at her shirt where her heart was.

"Otou-san...." she whispered, a few tears sliding off her cheeks.

"Okay! We're here to discuss these 'Tamers'" Merodi said in a matter-of-fact voice. They were at the meeting and evreyone was present.

"No duh Merodi-baka...." muttered Daisuke. Merodi shot a glare at him.

"What was that Goguru Atama?!" she snapped.

"The weather is nice of course" Daisuke said sarcastically. Merodi gave him another glare before resuming.

"Now...." she turned torwards the Tamers. "Explain yourselves"

Jen sighed, knowing he would have to explain it. "Well, anou, we are called Tamers, of course. We use these cards the Digimon Gods gave us to power a digimon. We scan the cards and the digimon become stronger" Jen explained trying not to give too much away.

Merodi cocked an eyebrow. "Qinqlongmon didn't tell me about this"

"Zhuqiaomon gave the cards to us! We know you are more associated with the eastern part of the Digitaru World. We are more associated with the southern part" Ruki inserted quickly. "Zhuqiaomon told us about you, that's why we know all about you!"

'Good thinking Ruki' Jen thought.

"What is the D-Reaper and Parasimon?" Koushirou asked.

Ruki sighed. She's gonna have to explain it. She held out her D-Arc and a picture of the Parasimon appeared. "Parasimon:Virus type. Ultimate level. His attacks are Electric Bind and Digicabolic Steroid" Ruki read the status. She sighed. "IT tried to control me.... It wanted to take over our world and it used me to get it to a Digitaru Zone. I almost killed Takato because of it" She left out the part on how she remembered her Otou-san and the dream last night...

"Welp, we know that it seems that's one of our enemies. What about the D-Reaper?" asked Ken. Juri decided to explain this.

"The D-Reaper is like a program to get rid of bugs in a computer. IT was the same in the Digitaru World, but it got all the excess Digimon. It soon grew out of control. My partner just died and it made a clone of me and took me captive. We returned to the real world, but the D-Reaper came through too. It fed off my negative feelings to become stronger. It wanted to destroy" Juri explained, the events coming back to her.

"And Devilmon?" Takato decided to do this, since Vanessa wasn't here.

"Well, our friend Vanessa should really be telling you this, but I will do since she isn't here. Somehow, there was one thing in the Digitaru World that survived the D-Reaper's wrath. It went into our world when Vanessa became a Tamer. Through Matrix Evolution, they evolved to Crestmon and defeated him" Takato thought he did a good job of himself because he didn't let on about Digimon being fiction in his world.

"So, our enemies are either D-Reaper or Parasimon" As they were talking about this, Ruki's eyes soon became lifeless.

"It couldn't be Devil-"Otou-san..."becuase we both just defeated him and-"Parasimon...."But I still don't get the deal with the D-Rea-"No!

Ruki had a vision.

"Otou-san! Getme away from that weird bug!" A girl cried out.

"Give me the future tamer!" Parasimon demanded.

"I'm not letting you have Ruki-chan!" the adult demanded.

"Well then, you shall pay the price! Electric Bind!" The attack was headed torwards the girl.

"Ruki-chan!" the adult stood in front of the attack and it hit him square in the chest. Blood poured out. One of the cords hit the girl in the head, and she blacked out.

"NO! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Ruki cried out. The conversation stopped and evreyone turned torwards Ruki. Ruki started looking scared.

"I.... need some fresh air" she quickly ran out, not letting anyone see the tears in her eyes. She put on her shoes and left the apartment.

Until she was deep in the park near the apartment did she break down.

"Otou-san, why do you keep haunting me?! It never affected me this much! After being controlled by the Parasimon, you've been coming back. Nande?! Doshite?! Why-"

"Makino Ruki...." Ruki's eyes widened when she heard the voice. "Come here....." It started getting colder.

"No....I thought you were dead!" she cried out.

"Oh, but I'm not sweet, cold Ruki..... You're TRUE partner has arrived!" A mist appeared and it soon materialzed into someone she never wanted to see again.

"IceDevimon..." she breathed. IceDevimon smirked.

"You geussed correctly, my sweet"

"But I thought you..... why did you...how?!" Ruki was scared, the first time being scared in a long time. IceDevimon took a step forward. It reached a hand out and touched Ruki's shoulder.

"My sweet, dear Ruki. I can see you are troubled, I can bring you out of this misery. You won't be bothered again, I promise you that. Just let me be your partner" Ruki's eye gradually became lifeless.

Ruki wanted to beleive him. She didn't know why. But her other side of her prevented her from falling completely under his spell.

'He's trying to use you, Makino! He's trying to get to you!' her inner voice snapped at her. 'Don't listen!'

'But what if I want to?! What if I want to leave this cruel world?!'

'I have no choice, Ruki-chan. Ruki and ____(it's a mystery *wink wink* *nudge nudge*)sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!' That snapped Ruki from her trance. She took a step backwards.

"I'm not falling for your tricks!" She cried out. 'Renamon, I need you! Renamon? Renamon!? Somebody?! I need help!' "HELP!!!!!!" she screamed.

"Hey! Once is enough, big shot! Dum Dum Upper!" Galgomon came in and hit IceDevimon squarlely in the face.

'Great, the demented bunny saved me'

"Hey there Tough Gurl! Looks like the ice man has come back!" Ruki growled.

"Terriermon!"

"Momentai Jen!"

"Where's Renamon!?" she snapped. Jen shook his head.

"I don't know" IceDevimon gave out a wicked laugh.

"Well, I geuss the queen has no partner now!" Something materialized in front of him that made Ruki's heart jump into her throat.

"Renamon...." she whispered. Inside a block of ice, was her beloved partner, frozen. Ruki started to sob uncontrolablly. "No....no.....no...Renamon....." IceDevimon held out his hand again.

"Come now, see? You're partner left you..." Ruki slapped his hand away.

"You monster!" she cried.

"That's it! I gave you your chance, but you turned it down! Zero Free-"

"Curse of Queen!" A beam struck Ice Devimon. HE turned around and saw Nefertimon with Hikari riding on top.

"Shooting Star!" A wave of stars hit IceDevimon. Pegasmon and Takeru appeared next to Hikari.

"X-Laser!" "Temepest Wing!" "Gold Rush!" "Spiking Finish!" XV-mon, Holsmon, Digmon, and Stingmon appeared.

"Oi! Leave that pretty, not to mention hot, lady alone!" Daisuke warned.

"He thinks I'm hot? I'll show him hot when this battle is done...." grumbled Ruki, through her sadness.

"Ha! You can't defeat me! She is my TAMER!" IceDevimon shot back. "Frost Claw!" His claw hit Nefertimon back.

"Rosetta Stone!" The attack barely missed IceDevimon. He took up in the air and evreyone else followed him.

Ruki wasn't paying attention to the battle. She was worried about her partner. She ran up to the ice and started pounding on it.

"Renamon! Renamon! Renamon!" she cried out desparetly. She slowly sank to her knees, tears coming out of her eyes. "No....Renamon....no...."

"Exhaust Flame!" Ruki backed out of the way before Growmon's attack could hit the ice. The ice cracked a bit as the fireball inpacted on.

"Growmon! Let's try oru attacks together!" called Galgomon. Growmon nodded. "Gatling Arm!"


"Exhaust Flame!" The attacks impacted on the ice, and it shattered. Renamon dropped to the ground.

"Renamon! Renamon!" Ruki shook Renamon. Renamon slowly opened her eyes.

"Ruki...." she whispered. She heard an explosion above. IceDevimon came falling to the ground, a wing ripped from his back and deep gashes.

"I'll handle him..." Renamon whispered and slowly got up. "Fox Leaf Arrowhead!" The attack impacted on IceDevimon.

"You'll never defeat Parasimon! You know he wants you sweet Ruki!" IceDevimon sried out just before he dissapeared. Renamon absorbed his data.

Ruki broke down crying. It was probably the tenth time that day. Tears flowed down in rivers, splashing onto the ground.

"Otou-san...." she kept saying over and over. Jen and Takato, who just arrived might I add, came over to her.

"Ruki...." Jen said in his quiet, yet strong voice.

"Leave me alone" she whispered through her sobs. Takato and Jen knew the day shook Ruki up and left her alone.

She was left there, crying.

Juri: Next time! I wonder how Vanessa-san is doing in America....

Vanessa: It feels good to be back! But....it's not the same without Efuimon....

Alycia: Cool digivice, Vanessa! Can I see it?


Amryn: What the heck, how do we have them now?!

Tyler: V, I just found out the others are in the Digimon Adventure 02 world!

Vanessa: How..... A portal! Now we can go help them! Next time on Shattered Dreams! America isn't the same! Two new Tamers on board! Join us next time!
