*Mrs. Ichijouji- "I wonder why they're having an intermission so early?"*

*Mr. Ichijouji- "Especially after the villain just appeared. It doesn't make any sense!"*

*Richard Ishita- "I hope nothing went wrong..."*

*Behind the curtains, there is a bit of chaos. Matt is raving at LadyDevimon*

*Matt- "What the hell is wrong with you?? You've come in too early, and you're not even in costume!!!*

*LadyDevimon(shrugging)- "I didn't look good in that frilly thing."*

*Matt(apoplectic)- "YOU'RE RUINING EVERYTHING!!!"*

*LadyDevimon- "I'm an evil digimon, so sue me."*

*Gatomon- "We'll see how cocky you are after I get through with you! Gatomon! Digivolve-"*

*Kari(grabbing her)- "No, don't! There are too many innocent people here!"*

*LadyDevimon(smirking)- "That's right! And they're waiting for *a dark queen* to arrive. Are you going to disappoint them?"*

*Matt(defeated)- "All right. I'll make you a deal. I'll overlook the costume if you just stick to the script and shy away from the funny stuff."*

*LadyDevimon(displeased, but outnumbered)- "All right, then. Deal. Shall we get on with it?"*

*Mimi(mechanically)- "Actors, places."

**Act 2, Scene 1: Blessings of every color**

*The curtain is pulled back and once again the lights are hideously bright, blanching LadyDevimon's pale skin further. She hovers in the middle of the room, dark mist swirling behind her.*

*Gatomon(sourly)- "I don't remember *that* being in the script!*

*Palmon- "Shh! Let's just get through this, okay?"*

LadyDevi- "Well, well, well. What have we here? A gathering for the long awaited arrival of the Emperor's new clothes? <gasp> Why, no! Why, I do believe this is a day of celebration for the child blessed by the sennyo themselves! But, that couldn't be, for surely *I* would have been invited?"

Kari- "Your darkness, it was a mistake! The invitation meant for you was given to me instead! My brother would not insult you like this!"

LadyDevi- "LIAR! Do you honestly expect me to believe he unwillingly overlooked me? He thought, no doubt, that to invite the Queen of Light would be a better omen than to allow *me* into his happy home!"

Tai(terrified)- 'That's not true!"

Ken(limping, falls to his knees)- "Ladyship, it was *my* fault your invitation was not received! Do what you will with me, I deserve the punishment! All I ask is that you let the child and mother be!"

LadyDevi- "Enough! I *will* give my blessing to the child!"

*The dark mist swirls angrily, and the room warps and refracts the light. Thunder rumbles as the Empress holds her baby to her breast possessively

Sora- "NO, PLEASE, STOP!"

LadyDevi- "The blessings of the sennyo will come true-the girl will grow with grace and beauty and full of love. But upon the appointed day, she will be poisoned by her spinning wheel and DIE!! Farewell, honeys! Have a nice day! Mwa-ha-ha-ha!!"

*The lights flicker as Sora screams. Then, silent darkness. When the light returns, Sora is huddled in the center of the stage, sobbing and clutching her baby as the others look on, horrified.*

Tai- "My Love! My Dearest, are you all right?"

Sora- "No, I'm not! My baby will die, and it's all *your* fault!" (glares angrily at Kari)

*TK jumps defensively in front of her. Kari is utterly stunned.*

Kari- "M-m-my fault? What do you mean?"

Sora(with venom, still clutching the baby to her chest)- "You knew that invitation wasn't for you! You could have sent the messenger back on the right path, but No! You chose to come instead, and now it's cost us our only priestess!"

TK- "She didn't know! The invitation didn't specifically say who it was for. If your brother and his wife finally had a child, wouldn't *you* want to wish them well too?!"

Tai- "Please, wife. If you're to be angry at anyone, be angry at me. I'm the one who sent that messenger."

Ken- "If I had been watching where I was going, we wouldn't have had to bother with that worthless messenger."

Sora- 'I don't want excuses, I want a *cure for my baby!"

*Gennai speaks from the back of the hall*

Gennai- "Well, this isn't exactly the festive mood I imagined for a baby shower!'

Gato- "wise Man! Thank goodness you've come!"

Tento- "It was awful!"

Pal- "The Demon Queen never received her invitation, and she got so mad she cursed the newborn princess!"

Gennai- "What? She didn't get it?"

Ken- "I met with an unfortunate accident of a messenger boy. He was dispatched to take my place, but he delivered the invitation to the Emperor's sister."

Gennai- "Oh my. That *is* most unfortunate. What was the curse's terms?"

Sora(sniffling)- "She said-she said that when my precious baby reaches the appointed day, she will... be poisoned by her own spinning wheel and die."

Gennai- "A death curse? That is *extremely* serious."

Tento- "Ya think?"

Gennai- "I'm afraid that the curse cannot be lifted."

*Gasps of horror rebound throughout the hall*

Tai- 'N-nothing..can be done?"

Gennai- "I didn't say *that*!"

Tai- "But-?"

Gennai- "I said it couldn't be lifted. I didn't say it couldn't be amended. And you have the right lady here for the job." *looks at Kari*

Kari(still in shock over Sora's accusations)- "Me? What can I do?"

Gennai- "You are the Queen of Light. With the sennyo's help, you can use the powers within you to alter the spell to something less unfortunate."

Kari- "But...I've never done any kind of magic before! I even screw up simple card tricks!"

TK- "You can do it! I know you can!"

Gato- 'With our help, it'll be a breeze!"

Tai- "Please, sister. Do it for me? Do it for your niece?"

Kari- "I-I'll try."

*the Emperor convinces the Empress to put the baby back in the bassinet. The Queen of Light stands tentatively before it. The three sennyos form a circle around her, paws/claws barely touching*

Gennai- "Just relax. Let the power choose the spell."

*The sennyo close their eyes, and so does she. A golden light forms within the circle, and the Queen speaks in an ethereal, otherworldly voice*

Kari- "Little princess. Darkness wishes to claim your beauty, but must be content with your shadow. Upon the appointed day, you will be poisoned by your spinning wheel. But fear not! Death will only lament it's lost prize, for you will only sleep for eternity, until that day when your savior cuts through your endless night to lead you to the day."

*She faints, but the sennyo catch her as the Emperor and the King run up*

Tai- "Kari! Are you okay?"

Kari- "I think so....I only hope the spell was strong enough to undo the trouble I've caused."

Sora- "We can only pray. For her sake, we can only pray."

*Those onstage grow grim and silent, and one by one bow their heads as the lights fade to darkness*
